I ordered 2 pizzas last evening for pickup. Pride of the Yankees Pizza and Pleased to Meet You pizza. I understand it was Saturday night and they were very busy but both pizzas were cold and the Pleased To Meet you was burned. I've had this pizza before and when properly done it's great. The few negative reviews...I don't get it. This place was SO GOOD! Food was amazing, very friendly and efficient service, and the owner (John) was the nicest guy! He even gave me is email address and told me to send him an email and he will send me the recipes for his meatballs Al forno, buffalo chicken meatballs, and his pizza dough. We also got the "pride of the Yankees " pizza. While it pains me to admit that I ordered this because I'm a Cubs fan, the pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had. Highly recommend this place and it will be on my list of places to visit the next time we're in town. read more

This is a great find in Libertyville. One of the better pizzas I've had in a very long time. They could be successful in downtown Chicago. I'll get the only downside out of the way. The acoustics are bad. It's lively and so it's really loud. If I could do a 4 1/2 stars I would. The food is five stars. We started with small salads. My favorite was the Thai slaw. Done sooooo well. Fresh and great flavor. I also had one of their Malbec. It wasn't the best I had but a great wine with dinner. We split a pizza. We custom made ours with pepperoni, mushrooms, garlic and spinach. The garlic was NOT overpowering like it can be. The crust was perfect. Wood burning pizza is great and this is the best I have had. Highly recommend you try this place. Great bar scene too. A recent takeout experience caused me to rank that experience (the takeout) 1 star. I've changed my overall current review back to a 4 star one because of the concerned efforts of the owner in responding to my review. Below is the past review of the takeout experience. We're always super satisfied when we eat at Pizzeria DeVille. We really enjoy the Wooster pizza (and add mozzarella cheese). My husband has ordered the 4 cheese motor city pizza and liked that as well. The Maa salad is delicious and the individual service is generous and super reasonably price. All in all their thin crust pizza is good as heck. sorry for my language, but their pizza flavor, crust quality and the cheese is too delicious. However, I will say this. it may be a little petty but I wish the margarita thin crust was actually not super thin. So I know it was a thin crust pizza, but the dough was literally paper thin. The margarita pizza always was lacking in flavor as the distribution of cheese, sauce, and basil was not there. But what saved the experience was the hot honey pepperoni pizza they offered. An interesting experience -- not quite loving it, but I don't dislike it either. Likes: - Pizzas are flavorful - Topping combinations taste fresh, almost like an entree on a pizza. Sausage and meatballs have a nice home-made feel to them. - Good chewiness to the dough - Soda served in cans, preserving the original flavor - Pizzas are cooked quickly - The restaurant itself has a hipster vibe - Staff was very friendly Dislikes: - Pizzas are a bit pricey - Flavors were strong, but feel like they could be refined a bit - Dough could've been more flavorful and more crispy along the edges - Didn't get much wood flavor - Slices could've been cut more wide Overall, this is worth a visit if you want a more unique pizza experience in the North suburbs. The flavors are definitely different than the canned / refrigerated pizza with pre-shredded cheese preparations you'll find at a lot of restaurants. However, expect to pay more for higher quality, fresh ingredients. The unique flavor combinations here are definitely welcome, along with the freshly prepared dough that helps to create the deliciously thin and crispy pizzas. The only criticism I really have is that the flavors are strong -- but I'm not sure that each component is mixed in the correct ratios. In the woodpile, I would've preferred more mushrooms, more roasted potatoes, and less black pepper (in a sauce that's even more creamy). In My Favorite Pie, I would've liked more tomato, more basil, and a lot less red pepper. With tiny modifications like this, the freshness of the ingredients can really shine without the spices overpowering the flavor of the rest of the pizza. I have eaten at DeVille many times. Done take out a number of times -- and since COVID started have done delivery many times. The food they put out is consistently very high quality. Went here on a cold Saturday for lunch, promptly seated. The owner stopped by our table on two occasions and was very friendly and down to earth. I love when an owner is out visiting customers, it shows investment in peoples experience. My son got two slices, the special which was a meat lovers and a plain cheese. I got the salad and a slice of pepperoni. The cheese and pepperoni were perfect, great crust, flavorful cheese and great pepperoni on my slice. The meat lovers was good, the shave meatballs were excellent but the cheese and pepperoni slices stood out. I did have a Caesar salad that was perfect, just the right amount to dressing and the croutons were crunchy but not hard, very nice texture. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I was feeling benevolent tonight and thought we'd give this place another try. We should have walked out right away. There were at least five empty tables on the main floor, but one of the hostesses insisted on going to see what was available in the basement. When she wasn't back after five minutes, a second hostess went downstairs and came back up a few minutes later. She seated us down there. A server took our drink order (water and a beer). When she brought the drinks, we asked for a few more minutes to read the menu. After twenty minutes, we threw five dollars on the table and walked out. Realistically, we should have stiffed her and made her pay for the beer out of her tips. But it's not like she didn't see us. She went back and forth to another table at least 10 times. And when we walked out? We walked right past her, and she didn't say a word. I'm done. This place sucks. read more

We had a reservation for a party of 10 on a Friday night. The original reservation was for 8, and we called that same day to ask if we could add two more to our party. We were first told no and then told we could be seated downstairs, but in the end we were seated upstairs. We were a bit cramped, especially when our food arrived! Little things to know. You need to ask for water if you want it, which I personally appreciate. Sodas come in a can and you are charged per can, which I do not like. My husband liked the beer selection and I saw a milk stout that I liked as well. The wine list is accessible meaning you don't have to be a wine snob to find something you like. We ordered the Maaaa Pie, Smokin' Jersey Q, Margherita, Cheese, and Sunnyside along with a large salad and an antipasti. The antipasti - three cheeses, three types of roasted veggies, three meats. I wish the cheeses and meats were labeled. Everything was delicious, but I don't think I would order it again. The cheeses were the tiniest little cubes ever. The overall portions were smaller than what I would've expected. The salad was delicious. The dressing was a little sweet but the large salad was enough to share as a side between five adults. For the life of me I cannot remember which one it was. The pizzas!! The crusts were thin, a great combination of crunchy and chewy. We had five adults, one high schooler, and four middle school boys. The ten of us left only 4 pieces to give you a sense of portions. Our favorites? Everything but the cheese and Margherita. The cheese was OK, but necessary for certain palates. The Margherita was OK. I actually prefer a different local pizzeria for that one. The Maaaa Pie and Sunnyside were delicious, and I never had the chance to try the Smokin Jersey Q which was gobbled up by two boys in our group. The kitchen is still working on timing - the salad arrived after our pizzas, and I think the waitstaff are also learning to work together. I like starting off with one of the many delicious, fresh salads (I think all options are delicious) and follow up with a pizza. A few favorites are the Pepperoni Due and Pride of the Yankees (both with red sauce). Another favorite (white sauce) is the Motorino Omaggio. Seasonal pizzas are always worth a try; It isn't on the menu now, but there was a marvelous elote pizza that knocked my socks off! I called in my order and the guy who answered was really nice and patient. I ordered the Wooster special and the yankee something pizza( o forgot the name) but I had it with the chicken meatballs. Omg it was so good. My only complaint is that it wasn't big enough, I did takeout I should have ordered more. But it's perfect for the price. I may have it again for lunch tomorrow. We were searching for a local wood/brick oven thin crust pizza as our other regulars were a bit busy. Street parking can be inconsistent as other nearby businesses can be busy as well. The decor is nice with a lot of chopped wood, butcher block tables, subway tile surrounding the wood fired oven, and clean floors. There are smaller tables that can be put together for larger groups. We had been here before and had the prosciutto on a charcuterie plate with burrata and it is no longer on the menu. My wife wanted to come here again specifically for this but their focaccia with spicy fig dressing and prosciutto just wasn't the same. I had their Jersey Q pizza which is very similar to a bbq chicken pizza with bbq sauce as a base along with chicken and cilantro on top. They add bacon here which was good. We've also had some of their regular pizzas which have been good but not great. The crust is quite chewy rather than thin with a little give. They do have brunch type pizzas (two with egg in it and a sweet pizza) on the weekend which we would return for. read more

John the Proprietor, .. Chandler the Server (& eye candy!- so cute!!) Extraordinaire = Really Great Customer Service. *Even* on a super busy night (post Downtown Libertyville Tree Lighting Ceremony + Santa). Usually I'm a whole food, plant based, organic vegan (often vegetarian while out, away from home). And I try to support such businesses with a similar vibe. But I'm also a small business owner of a brick and mortar establishment (a little holistic and heart-centered organic Spa). So I like to support those, too - especially over the weekend with Small Business Saturday. And really - they were just so good! .. I feel compelled to share! John the Owner came over, chatted, .. I raved about my Server, .. and his singing (I overheard him singing Happy Birthday to a Patron at the bar,.. with lighter in hand - .. nice touch!). And he gave my Child a complimentary frozen chocolate yoghurt.! So nice considering we didn't want to wait in line earlier in the evening for the hot cocoa outside. Pizza was delicious. We had two Vegetarian ones. See menu (with circled items). Salad with portabello mushrooms was so so good!!. And energy was all positive. I may not be back often (I'm a Nutritionist, who often cooks at home for myself and Fam). But I loved my experience and will absolutely do it again at some point. Pizza is delicious. But best to order in vs eat there. It's a Sunday night and my husband and I've been here for an hour and 20 minutes and still no pizza! When I asked the waiter, he said they only have 2 cooks and they made our pizza wrong so they were making a new one. That was 20 minutes ago! And if I hadn't asked him, I still would not be sure what was going on. We've ordered many times from here and the Pizza, as I said, is delicious. But never come and eat here especially on a Sunday night! Disaster! We ultimately left with no pizza and no manager to talk to us. But when I called later, the Mansger was very apologetic and said he will send some coupons fro complimentary pizza! Nice! read more

I visited this little pizzeria last weekend with a friend. We were seated immediately, but were warned that we needed to be finished dining within an hour. No problem. Our server greeted us promptly and was very friendly. Although the hostess made us feel like we needed to rush, our waitress, Chandler never did! She was awesome! Our pizza arrived in about 12 minutes FLAT.... maybe faster!! I mean I hadn't even sipped my beverage. Crazy! The drinks were tasty as well as the pizza! What happened to this place?!? I haven't been here since the pandemic but I used to loved their pizza. Salads were great and the vibe was always fun and upbeat. Well....I showed up on a Sunday evening and I was the only one there. Warning sign #1. Anyway, I sat at the bar and ordered a pizza and salad to the uninterested bartender/waitress. After about a minute, my super over-dressed Caesar salad showed up. As I'm eating the salad, my pizza - which I ordered well done and should take some extra time b/w that and spacing out courses- showed up. Cmon waitress- not good. I had to ask for a clean plate and Parmesan (I'm you're only customer). The pizza wasn't well done and everything just slid right off as I picked it up. As someone else said, I'm not sure what cheese they use but it wasn't melted properly and tasted super bland. The caramelized onions werent truly caramelized and not once did the waitress come over to check in. She was texting most of the time. I get it- boring night with no customers - but I'm right there. I used to really loved their food but not sure if it changed owners, if it was an off night or what happened but not a good effort sadly to say. read more
