I can't believe I haven't left a review for this place but bomb coffee and customer service! My go-to is the mocha granita which is delicious and sweet. The one thing I like about this drink is it's got the right amount of coffee (which you can actually taste) along with the perfect sweetness. We've also done Uber eats several times and our order is always correct. We get our drinks the exact way we ordered it and just recently, they gave us an extra croissant since they ran out of the spinach & cheese croissant (with a hand written note explaining why they didn't have another strawberry & cheese croissant which by the way, super delicious). read more

Stopped in hoping to get a whole king cake. Bought a traditional they had shipped in from Joe Gambino's, however I wanted to try the praline flavor. Bought one slice and I was a bit disappointed. Not in PJ's but the quality of Joe Gambino's king cake. It was too dense and the praline flavor tasted too artificial. Got home and tried my traditional king cake. Was also disappointed with it. There was hardly any cinnamon in it at all! I took the cinnamon from my spice cabinet and poured it on top of the king cake. That's how bland it was. PJ's coffee is an excellent place and their service is always fantastic. My review is about the poor quality of the mass produced kings cakes that Gambino's does. PJ's I hope next year y'all find another supplier. Even Rouse's (supermarket) king cakes in Louisiana tasted better than Gambino's. read more

I visited during their grand opening with various visiting SA Chamber of Commerce members - so it was very busy. I was excited to try it out and support a new local business. It's a very nice, clean and open space with a cool light rustic industrial vibe. There is a corner nook which has 3 large sofa style chairs and main dining area has 4 tables which can seat up to 4. Additionally, on one of the counter sides, there is some bar style seating. Several of the displays/food presentation is almost identical to Starbucks. I placed my order for their dark roast hot coffee (changes daily) - black, along with a Cuban sandwich, then took a seat to wait for my order. The initial experience started with 5 stars. However, after 15 minutes and about 8 orders placed after mine come out before, it had me scratching my head! Did they give my coffee and sandwich away to someone else? Did someone else swipe my meal from the counter? Was I about to go hungry? They don't give out numbers, nor asked for my name, so I was not certain how I will know what order is mine. Telepathy maybe? Unfortunately the long wait caused them to lose a star. Well, one of the girls (Taylor) noticed my very confused look and asked if I had received my order. She was deeply apologetic and upgraded my drink size and gave me a sample of their poppy seed muffin/cake? I don't know, but I ate it. She quickly whipped around to the front of the counter, and pulled a packaged sandwich from the front display and went to warm it up. A few minutes later, my sandwich was quickly delivered to my table, along with a couple of coupons for a return visit. The warm sandwich was tempting, so I dug in (I was hungry!). It was the perfect temperature and had good flavor - except, I didn't find anything Cuban about it. It was basically just a ham and cheese sandwich. It didn't taste bad - but I guess Cuba evaporated when it was heated. Needless to say, they lost another star. A few minutes later, another girl (Melody) who I believe is the cafe manager also apologized for the slow service and gave me a purple pouch of their coffee. While the initial service/food were lacking, I must say their SUPER friendly staff were quick to try and provide a positive experience. It gave me the warm fuzzies, so I bumped them up and gave them back a star. I REALLY enjoyed their coffee. I'm not one for frilly sweet drinks, but I do like my coffee bold and strong. They delivered! The very friendly staff encouraged me to visit again. As for the pricing for everything - no different than Starbucks. So if you can pay for overpriced coffee, defrosted pastries and sandwiches there, you can do it here and support local too. read more

First, all of the staff members were lovely here, which is why the rating is a 3/5. The inside was clean and I liked the layout of the tables. However, I really did not like the coffee unfortunately. I got an iced gingerbread latte and my husband ordered a decaf peppermint bark velvet ice. My gingerbread latte was a 1/5, it was super bitter and had a bad aftertaste. I just overall did not enjoy it. My husband's had a nice taste, but was too liquidity and not blended well. I have not been drinking Starbucks for a while since it's become too inconsistent so I am always looking for other options to enjoy instead. Welcome to San Antonio, PJs!! We drove by the location and was excited that PJs arrived in town. My spouse and I both lived in New Orleans and loved PJs when we lived there the location is exceptionally clean, following all COVID safety protocols and had everything available on their menu. The coffee was just as good as we remembered when we lived in San Antonio. It lacks the bitterness of their competitors and has more robust flavor. A bonus was that since it's Mardi Gras season, they were selling slices of king cake. The king cake was not dry and full of flavor. PJs is a slight distance from our home but worth the trip for some good coffee. read more

This has to have been some of the worst coffee I have had. It tasted old and watered down. I got a large Iced coffee with oat milk with some flavoring and when I received it there were a few iced cubes floating at the top with a layer of water as if it had just been sitting waiting for someone to order it. It didn't taste like vanilla or caramel and for a $7 coffee this was such a small cup. I could go to my original coffee place and pay much less for much better quantity and quality. Always looking for a nice spot to enjoy coffee and solace. This was the spot today!! Very laid back and not super crowded. I had the sweet cold foam limited time brew. It was good. Flavor was nice and smooth. I also had the pepperoni pizzini. At first The bread seemed overwhelming and I thought it was going to be all about that bread. But the pepperoni really complimented the bread. I love they have a bar you can sit at. Although with covid it seems to be blocked off. Customer service was good. Being a new coffee spot, a little more interaction would have bumped this up to 5 stars. Maybe something along the lines of "have ya been in before." I was excited to see a new option nearby other than Jason's Deli for a muffaletta. The best one I've had yet in Texas was in the medical Center in Houston; I paid $12 for a whole (1/4x4) muffaletta. At PJ's, I paid $9 for 1/4 of a sandwich. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but a small portion for the cost.... They're telling me a whole sandwich is worth $36? Part of the issue that comes with getting 1/4 of a sandwich was the quarter I received was where the filings were skimpy and didn't reach the edge of the bread. I've lived in San Antonio for about 4 years now and I absolutely love the city. The food environment has so many diamonds in the rough. However, one area that I feel is a bit lacking, particularly in the NW side/medical center area is the coffee shop scene. PJ's is absolutely delicious and I will certainly make it a regular place to satisfy my craft coffee cravings. I'm so sorry but the coffee was terrible. I ordered a iced skinny vanilla latte and I asked her what made it skinny and she said the syrup was zero sugar, and I asked oh no so it's not sweet? She told me it still would be. I received my coffee and it had a murky brown color and the "sweet cream" they offer is just whipped cream. When I saw my coffee I knew it wasn't gonna be great but I drove off in hopes I would be wrong. I went back through the drive thru and I explained that it may be my fault because of the skinny latte I ordered so I said "I will pay for this one but can I get another one just the un-skinny version?" I also asked if it could be lighter in color as the coffee was very dark meaning very little creamer. This is how my re-made coffee came out. I wasted $7 because I had to throw it out and drive to Starbucks. I was so excited to try a new coffee shop but it was so terrible. The bitter flavor of the sweetener is so bad. It tastes like coffee brewed at home with a tad bit of sugar and it leaves that yucky taste on your tounge. They told me it was the sweetener of the skinny latte but the regular one was the exact same. Y'all tell me I'm trippin look at the photo. Sweet cream??? Honey that's whipped cream. The color? Gross.
