Went on a lunch date with my boyfriend for the first time here and I loved everything. First, the service was fast and super friendly. Their pulled pork fries are delicious and that cheese that comes with it is freaking amazing. My 3 yr old and I couldn't get enough. Also, I'm not a fish person but decided to try the steelhead since my bf said it was local and WOW!!!! The creamy rice was cook perfectly and so was the fish. I wanted to like this place, I was looking forward to going and it just bummed me out in the end. I like the theme, I like the general set-up but it comes up short otherwise. The food menu was interesting enough, the food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything I'd necessarily want more of. The fries were overcooked and the burger was hard to maneuver, but wasn't terrible? The service is lacking, a lot of empty glasses and little acknowledgement, which is always super odd when you're at a bar without a tv. I don't want to flag down a bartender, it's really just awkward. Their cocktail menu may as well not exist, I think they have one specialty drink and the rest is just standard? Confusing. A cocktail menu is supposed to be special for the place that you're at. The menu just seemed to be standard stuff like an Old Fashion and Mojito. That's cocktail menu failure, give it some sort of different name or a spin on it, try to entice people to try something new or seemingly adventurous. They also don't seem to want you to drink much or stay long. After ordering meals and a couple drinks, we were presented with the check. Well not even presented with it, it was just put in a shotglass and left there for us to find. It wasn't waiting for a table that threw us off, no it was a long list of things: - Waiting at the bar area for a waitress that never came. - Getting to our table only to wait another 20-30 minutes for a drink order. - But not to worry you'll be happy to get that first drink, because it will be the last time you are asked if you'd like another... especially if it's a mixed drink. Now you're probably wanting to know about the food since this is a restaurant review: - iI you order the Chicken and Waffles be prepared to have a blackened waffle folded in half, surrounded by baby kale swimming in salt, A Lot of salt, with greasy flavorless greasy chicken. - When you order several side salads and are asked by your server if we'd like them before our meal and we gleeful says "YES Please", as we are very hungry and have waited an hour to order our meal already. - French fries are burnt little hubs of greasy starch -Check out will take you another half an hour, you are held hostage as your visa card is "somewhere" and the waiting is just another repetitive motion you have been placed on a Plank to walk, or not... we walked to never return again. Monday night, late September, empty. Maybe it was just the circumstances, but this place had the atmosphere of an unwelcoming Springfield dive. Music was loud and tasteless (top 40s 80s), with a total of 4 customers, including my partner and I. Staff was very nice and professional, but this place had the feeling of an experiment that won't be around long. The burger was above average, the brews def not worth coming to Springfield for. This place has the disadvantage of being out in the middle of zombie town- we really have to go out of our way to get here from Eugene. Is it worth it? Definitely not from what I can tell. If they are going to be this far out in a weird spot, they should be in another league. However this is just another basic brew pub, and on top of that seriously tasteless music. To staff: if you are going to try to be fun and cool with 80s music, you are either pandering to the unsophisticated rural Oregon crowd (fine, not my place), or are 10 years too late and playing all the wrong songs. Came here on a double date. I had really high hopes for this place but unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. First off, I don't know if the restaurant was short staffed or something but our drink orders and food orders came out super slow. We ordered a beer and an iced tea and only the beer made it to the table after the bartender realized the waiter forgot to bring it to us. We had to ask again for the iced tea. Food came out what seemed like a really long time since there was only 4 tables worth of people in the restaurant. My bf enjoyed his food. He had the Irish bacon burger with a side salad. I ordered the Cuban with some basalmic on the side and the potato leek soup. Never received my basalmic and the cuban came out cold. The cheese was no longer melted and was congealed. The pulled pork lacked flavor as well. Literally no flavor. Worst pulled pork I've ever had. The only redeming quality the Cuban had was the pickled pineapple that came with the sandwich. It had a really nice tangy flavor that gave that sad sandwich some flavor. The potato leek soup was good. Nice and creamy. I didn't really taste the leek though. It was more of a potato cheese soup. Still good though. Our friend ordered garlic fries and only received the regular fries. Waiter never came with the bill so I had to go find him and ask for it. The bill was messed up. Our friends were charged for the garlic fries they never received and they had our beer on their bill and their drinks on ours. Overall, service sucked. Used to be a great place to get beer and food. The last couple times I've gone the food has been pretty bad. The burger I had was charred to the point that it was not edible (I ordered medium rare). The waitress noticed and I did get my money back (although it took an hour to get the food in the first place). I also had biscuits and gravy on a separate occasion... The bottom of the biscuits were black they were so burnt. I was told by the waitress that their two senior cooks just left and they were having a hard time training the replacements. Went there on a busy Friday night. I had the Blue Pool Pils, spouse had the Sazarac (?). Pils was excellent, nailed the flavor, malt, hops and yeast, clean and delightful. Cocktail was tasty and not shy on the rye. Spouse had oyster po' boy, I had the half pound Irish cheddar/bacon burger. Both were excellent, more than adequate portion size. I really enjoyed my visit to Plank Town. Their beers are creative and seriously good. the food is great. I had the Apple and Pork dip sandwich. The dip is their beer cheese soup and went really well with the sandwich (i was a bit skeptical to be honest LOL). My husband had the bacon with Irish cheese burger. for my side I got the slaw which was just okay, my husband got the fries those were pretty good. the restaurant is pretty big with a nice large bar. This review has been edited after discussions with the owner and how they handled this problem. The food is very good and I will be returning. I was very unhappy with my experience tonight. I ordered and was given water to drink. I took a drink and in my mouth I felt something slimy and disgusting. I put it on my cloth napkin and it was disgusting! It looked like a small slug. I have a feeling it was mold from an I cleaned ice machine. I took the gross thing to the bar and showed it to three waiters. Their reply? We are Sorry and yes they were having problems with their ice machine! Did they take off water from other tables ? NO!! Did they do anything? No! Their obvious unconcern over what I had in my mouth was enough for me to never go back. I am in love with this place! They have brunch that is just so tasty. I got the Applewood Smoked Ham Hash and it was sooooo good. The only thing was that the eggs were a little more fries than medium but I'd rather have them over cooked than undercooked so I am not upset at all. We were in town for a softball tournament. We had called the day before to make reservations but they were closed and left them a message to call me back next day. Never got the call. We arrived and asked if we had reservations. Told them the story. They found us a table and we had a great waitress. The waffle and chicken was a huge hit. We enjoyed our steak with mushrooms and onions and cooked perfectly. It was a very fun evening and a great low key environment. We will be back in a few weeks for another tournament. A brewpub that just opens usually need more time than your average restaurant to get started. First because it takes time to dial in food recipes and second the beer can be even more challenging. That said, I had a few negative experiences over the course of the 10 or so visits I've made. While the beer continues to improve, they've had a few unforgivables (really, hop chunks floating in my beer?). Lately though the brewer seems to be on a roll and consistency and quality are coming together During our last visit things seemed very improved and up to par. Burgers are now cooked to order correctly (medium rare shouldn't be chewy grey). The Mac and cheese is great and apps seem more substantial rather than decorative. All in all they are moving in the right direction and look to be a great place for a pint and food. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. I've been here for both lunch and dinner. I had the mushroom blue burger for lunch and I really liked it. It was satisfying and filling. I enjoyed the fries too and I LOVED the homemade ketchup. I was going to order it again when I went back yesterday for dinner, but the chicken they had on special sounded amazing. It was grilled chicken on spinach and mushroom risotto, with a balsamic sauce. It was so good. I cleaned my plate, and would have licked it if I wasn't in public! I also had the vegetable skewer for an appetizer which I liked. Just enough spice. My only little complaint is the noise level. There's nothing but hard surfaces so it gets pretty loud. I don't mind a louder atmosphere, but I had a really hard time even hearing our waitress when she was telling us the specials. Please please please fix the acoustics! Went on a Sunday for lunch (which is Brunch menu wise). Sat outside, Tables are wedged into the sidewalk so you get tons of street traffic noise. Umbrellas are very tiny and don't provide much shade and cannot be adjusted. Service outside was spotty. Outside is dog friendly (note the shade limitations). Had the hamburger, meat was good, bun was dry and veggie toppings were limited and wilted (tells me it spent too much time under a heat lamp). Also, had the Ham Hash which was good. Had Brussels sprouts as an app, they were good, but sauce was very watery so difficult to dip. Beer selection is good and they have good brews. Went here for my birthday one year have not/will not be returning. We had a table of 8 and no one like their food. The food was so bad. I'm not one to say things while at the restaurant, but we did complain and sent some food back just to get bad food again. It was cold, bland, and just not good. I'd recommend going to the plethora of other American style breweries in Eugene/Springfield. Server and kitchen both made us feel stupid for not liking there really bad food. The ladies at the gallery recommended several cafes on Main Street that were within walking distance .I chose Planktown. Decor : casual , fun; Service: great waitress but the food took FOREVER. I love Eggs Benedict- at home- but rarely order it out because I am always disappointed. Well , once again, I was disappointed! The poached eggs were decent.The underlying Biscuit was stale and tough. The Hollandaise was lukewarm and completely tasteless...think yellow sludge. Yes, Hollandaise sauce is tricky, but not that tricky , and hey, don't put it on the menu if your chefs aren't up to making this luscious, lemony bit of heaven properly !! Good - even pretty excellent. But not the best. The beers can be hit or miss: I liked the Blue Pool Pilsner a lot, but found a lot of the other light beers to be boring and bland. My mom and I shared the pork verde enchilada small plate and the grilled Caesar salad with smoked salmon. I really enjoyed both, but hoped for more. The enchiladas were great, and just needed some more verde sauce. The salad wasn't grilled enough, though, and the polenta in the salad got lost in competition with the dressing and the fish. This time they didn't have the sandwich I had last time so I got the succotash, my beans weren't cooked all the way and when it says it comes with crispy fried polenta it means it comes with three small triangles. Every time I've been the food is over priced and mediocre. The service is okay at best. The beer is good though! Below is my experience from last night: I visited yesterday because I was given a gift card (given my assessment above this would not be my choice place to go.) We ordered a drink and two meals. The service was slow but adequate until it was time to pay. When I gave the waitress my gift card she told me the whole system was done and I had to use debit card or cash. When I told her how crappy that was to hear (since the entire reason I came in was to use the gift card) her reply was "yea, the whole day has been crappy I'm not even going to sugar coat it for you." Having worked in the service industry throughout high school and college my thoughts are this: if a system is down you need to warn people up front. I have no clue how their food tastes because we didn't get it. We were on a schedule but the restaurant didn't look very busy when we arrived. Over 30 minutes and still no food. My clear coffee cup was empty before being offered more. I had told our waitress we wanted the check with our food which should have been a clue. Later, she offered to check on our order, went to the terminal, then off to another part of the room. I offered to pay for our coffee and iced tea and that took even more time. "Sorry, but we're really busy" was the reason. If I were king, which I am not, I would have apologized profusely, comped the drinks, and asked for another opportunity.
