Visited Pre-Portnoy (so you know this review is pure and untouched by pizza internet fame). Context: Family, friends, and the Texas-OSU game at noon. I decided to start my day at 8:30 AM... at the bar. Because nothing says "responsible football prep" like pizza and beer for breakfast. I skipped the eggs and went straight for a Sausage, Onion, and Cheese Pizza -- a proper base layer for the debauchery ahead. The crust is sweet, which I enjoy, but apparently that's controversial. Judging by the arguments I saw online, this crust has started more debates than some politicians. Service? Top-notch. The bartenders kept things moving like pros. Atmosphere? Wall-to-wall OSU energy. Exactly what you want on game day. And here's the kicker: Plank's might actually be my lucky charm. The last time I pulled this stunt was in 2017 before OSU beat Penn State. Fast forward to now -- same routine, and OSU beats Texas. Coincidence? I think not. It's not me... it's Plank's.

Cheese pizza... added parm & hot pepper flakes to try to make it less sweet. It didn't help.

Service was ok. The place was not busy at the time we went. The chicken wings were good. The pizza was odd. The dough is super sweet. I didn't expect it to be so sweet. It was like having pizza toppings on a cookie crust. The prices are high and the pizza was definitely not worth it. Will not be returning.

July 18 2024 Worst pizza experience, food experience in years. Went in starving left ordering elsewhere. Ordered Appetizers sweet potato fries soggy limp cold gooey dipping brown sugar cinnamon butter (sauce in description) however it was rubbery due to being cold, Garlic cheese bread barely cooked NO Garlic at all! and the sauce with for dipping taste like water! Said ow well hopefully pizza will be good NO NO NO I am a pizza connoisseur; this was not pizza I literally could not chew it was so rubbery, full of sugar, the crust was as if you baked then allowed to sit out for several days then put toppings and rebaked. This is nothing like when I was young Sorry planks i will never be back.

I'm not sure how I've never been to Planks, but I had not. I stopped in with a friend after another event in the area. On a Thursday night ~8 PM, it was pretty quiet and we got a seat at the bar. The bartender took our orders, handed us a menu, and asked if we wanted anything particular on the TV. Since it was a quiet evening, the bar staff were moving around and restocking their area and chatting with us and it was super laid back. I tried one of the small pizzas and it was pretty darn good. Plenty of cheese and veggies, cut Columbus style, and actually enough sauce (I love extra sauce on pizza). The sauce is on the sweet side. I haven't had a sweeter pizza sauce in a while, so loaded it up with crushed red peppers and gobbled it down. The only slightly odd bit is that I did not see an itemized receipt. My total seemed a bit high for the pizza and one drink, but it was good and I'll swing through again if I'm in the area. Cool fact - they deliver anywhere within 270, with a sliding delivery fee (between like $3 and $7 location dependent) and the delivery fee goes to the drivers!

My friend used to live nearby and had told me that she loves their pizza. I was hanging at Two Dollar Radio so I thought why not stop by for a personal-sized pizza. I called in the order for a small pepperoni and they told me it would be 15 minutes. They have a parking lot at the back so I sat in my car a bit and waited. After the 15 minutes were up, I walked in and the hostess told me to go to the bar and let them know I was there for a carry out order. When I got to my car, I had to check out the goods. Thin crust and cupped pepperoni. Oh I was excited to get home and try it!! As other reviews say, the crust is unique. It's got a sweetness that is absolute perfection. And there's a good layer of cheese! Sometimes thin crust isn't generous with cheese. I ate about half of the pizza and was pretty full. Not bad for around $13 ish. It seems like an underrated pizza place. They could use more attention. Their pizza is amazing!! Can't wait to return and try something else off the menu.

    Wing dings

We ordered a large "all the way" pizza, wings, and a Italian sub. The pizza was a middle of the road pie, sweet sauce and crust that was nice for a change and a combination of toppings. The toppings were of low quality and you could taste it. Some tasted as if they were frozen diced peppers and onions thawed and slapped on the pizza into the oven, pepperoni are few and far between, you won't be impressed by planks pizza but you won't be entirely disappointed either. The sub, the sub had a nice sesame bread but the top bun was soggy and the lettuce was wilted badly and barely enough. It had pizza sauce on it which I wasn't expecting and overall is a hard pass for me. The wings The wings were just store bought frozen wing dings heated up. If you like a processed commercial breaded wing packed with enough sodium to kill a horse and don't mind paying 12 bucks for seven Walmart freezer section wings then by all means go ahead

We…read morespent over $80 on a to-go order that included two Gina's Gem, a big cheese pizza, and a salad. The pizza arrived cold but was still edible. Unfortunately, the Gina's Gem was nothing like what was advertised. I was expecting warm, crusty bread with a roasted cheese dip on the side so you could tear pieces of bread and dip them into the cheese. Instead, the cheese had already been spread directly onto the bread and toasted together. Because of that, the bread lost the texture you would expect--it wasn't crusty or dippable at all. It ended up soft, almost soggy, and the cheese was baked onto the bread rather than being a dip. The whole appeal of the dish was supposed to be the warm bread with the roasted cheese to dip into, and that part was completely missing. Included with the bread was a hot honey that missed the mark on being "hot" and some kind of jam. These options just made everything even more soft....which should have been impossible. The salad was actually the best part of the meal - even though it was a bit spicy. I've always had good experiences here in the past, so this was a big letdown--especially for the price. I just wish the to-go version of the dish matched how it's described, or that expectations were set correctly when ordering. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose all trust in ordering from here again. I can't believe we waited until exactly 3pm (when they opened) to order this.... At the very least the pizza should have been hot.

The sandwich was honestly the highlight of the meal. It was delicious, and the pizza dough as the bread was such a unique touch that you really don't find at many Italian sandwich spots around Columbus. The pizza itself was just okay. As you can see from the picture, the toppings weren't distributed very evenly, so some slices had mostly sauce with barely any cheese while others had way more toppings and cheese but less sauce. I also wish the pizza had been cooked a little longer overall because it was pretty floppy and doughy. One thing that makes it tough is that once the movie starts, it's hard to go back and ask for changes or anything since the theater is packed and getting in and out of the seats feels disruptive. We'll definitely be back to Grandview Theater because we love the experience overall, but next time I'll probably stick to the sandwiches and popcorn and skip the pizza.

I tried half of the Licensed to Dill which was just okay. Pickles on pizza isn't really my thing. Pesto on pizza wasn't really my thing either, but having half of a an Ecto Pesto changed my mind. Perhaps the chicken and bacon on the pie was what I really liked, but the point is that it all came together surprisingly well. It definitely gave me hope for the more meat-heavy pizza options that I tend to prefer.

The kind of spot where you expect a solid beer and maybe some decent bar food. What you don't expect? One of the best Detroit-style pizzas of your life hiding behind a window in the back like some carb-based speakeasy. And when I say hidden, I mean hidden. No flashy signage. No "best pizza in town" ego. Just a quiet little window cranking out square pies that deserve a standing ovation. I ordered the classic red top -- already a bold move -- and added pesto because balance matters and I like to live a little. The result? Beyond reproach. Fresh, loaded toppings. Sauce with depth. And that crust... that beautiful Detroit crust. Crispy edges with that caramelized cheese halo, but still chewy and pillowy inside. The textural contrast is what separates amateurs from legends -- and this? This was legend-level execution. Easily top 3 Detroit-style pizzas I've had. And that's not a casual statement. If you don't understand the life-altering power of true Detroit-style pizza, I regret to inform you... you have not been living. Go find the window in the back. Trust me.
