I recently relocated to Texas and didn't have any close friends or family to watch my pup while I went home for a holiday visit. I asked around and searched on yelp for a place to board my dog that was highly reviewed, yet reasonably priced. 4 Paws Inn was the place! My pup isn't extremely social and was hesitant to go in, but when I picked her up 6 days later I knew she had the time of her life. She was energetic and smiling! She now runs to every car she sees when on a walk in hopes to return for more play time. I liked that they gave me a report card to tell me how she did. I had her groomed during her stay and they did a great job. My dog is a pug and they shed quite profusely, so I asked them to have her top coat shaved. She looked adorable when I picked her up. I plan on taking her back for daycare on days that I will be going out after work, just so she can have a little fun during the day. read more

Prices have gone up 120%... they say it is "to compete with the area" yet there is absolutely no green space for the dogs to play; only a small room inside (which is now supervised by ppl on their cell phones). The dogs go to the restroom on the side of the building or on concrete in a tiny fenced-in area. The team has changed as well... They used to greet us as we walked in and even meet us at the car upon arrival... Our little dog is still sometimes noticed (as we have come weekly since he was born three years ago because the price was so great and location, convenient). But I have to say, we will change once their old price packages are no longer offered as at $26 per day they cannot hold a candle to other dog daycares in the area who have MUCH larger outside and inside play spaces coupled with the customer service we used to love. They have also changed the front office area in such an awkward way... We pre pay for packages yet stand waiting while the team checks ppl out on a computer oddly placed against the wall while previously they sat behind it checking people in and out, in an orderly fashion. I hear the ownership has changed...which is sad. As aside from the minor upgrades, given the steep price hikes and inadequate space. It has declined as a business. read more

This hurts my heart to write, but this company raised their prices by over 150% after giving the place a cosmetic makeover. Where I used to take my dog regularly, I won't be able to take him nearly as often - or at all. This is a place where the dogs (big or small) aren't separated in the day care play area, but I've overlooked that because honestly at $10 a day with a person watching over them, I was ok with it. I can understand why $10 a day was low and would even under if they charged maybe $16/$18. At nearly $30 dollars a day, I will be considering other options. read more

Very upsetting experience. My dog went in happy and left traumatized and with a hurt eye. Due to her eye being shut and weeping all day, I took her to the vet who identified a chemical burn to her eye, often caused by the concentrated soap groomers use IF they don't follow the proper procedures to protect the dog's eyes! My dog now has to have medicine to help the eye plus she's been in unnecessary pain today! Between the pain my dog faced, the price for a not very good grooming, subsequent vet costs and costs for meds...you couldn't pay me to go back! On their side, they told me about the eye being hurt and offered a small discount, and then basically said it was my dog's fault. Then they actually asked for a tip at the end. read more

We're very new to to the DFW Metroplex, and after only four weeks here we had a family emergency calling is out of town in a hurry. We did not know this place from anything but from a few reviews we read. We took a leap f faith, and weren't disappointed. In our haste to catch a plane, we forgot our dogs food. They happily offered and obtained it from a pet store, because our dogs are finicky eaters. They had the dogs up front every day, getting love and attention and even gave them a good grooming when we picked them up. The prices were extremely reasonable, in fact cost is half of what our prior pet boarding experiences. I think they did a great job,we'll be using them again. I have meaning to write this for a while now. I adopted a chihuahua mix over a year and a half ago and he was constantly afraid (more like terrified!) of new people and other dogs, especially large dogs. About 8 months ago I started taking him to Plano 4 Paws Inn once a week to help socialize him. For the first couple months he was scared, but over time we saw him come out of his shell and be more open to new people and dogs. Now he squeaks with excitement every time we go! He isn't even afraid to get in the car anymore because car = going to doggie daycare! They even make sure he has a blanket as he gets cold very easily! The staff is super friendly, professional but laid back. I have boarded him there once and all went well. There are no cameras or special dog rooms by size, but that's not what we wanted. This is a smaller place where all dogs are together and the staff seems to genuinely care. It's only $10 a day for doggie daycare, which is an amazing price compared to other places we looked at! Not really a fan, probably won't be bringing my dogs here for boarding again... for reference, we have a 14 lb adult Shih Tzu and a 35 lb mutt puppy who is about 8 months old. Both have been boarded before with fantastic results. Here, they're prices are great and everyone was really nice, however, I would be willing to pay more for better care. I had a couple issues with 4 Paws Inn, all discovered upon pick-up: 1. I dropped off the dogs with plastic bags I had filled with food, measured out for the 5 days they would be there. Both bags had the dogs name and amount of food to be fed written in Sharpie. Since they are very different dogs, they require different food and different amounts. When we got the food back, something was amiss. We got about half of the puppy's food back which absolutely should not have been the case. I always put a little extra in just in case but it was as if they had only been feeding him half the amount they should have been. I could understand the confusion if the directions had been given verbally only, however, it was written in PERMANENT MARKER WITH HIS NAME ON IT. 2. We also brought along a bed for our Shih Tzu... it goes with him everywhere and he doesnt sleep on it as much as sucks on it (weird, I know). Anyhow, when I had dropped them off the lady (who was extremely nice) asked me to leave on the bench in the lobby area because it had to be recorded in their system. Against my better judgement, I left it without following through to make sure she did. When my husband picked up the dogs, she brought out them (after unsuccessfully trying to put our Shih Tzu's harness on the thrice-the-size puppy), and then brought out the bed asking, "Is this yours?" as if they had no idea who it belonged to. Had they tried to give it to other people picking up their pets? Had other dogs had it? Who knows. 3. When my dogs got home, the puppy was extremely thirsty. He immediately drank an entire bowl of water, which he does not do unless water is not readliy available. They both also had extremely large amounts of evergy which suggests that they do not get a lot of play time. Overall, the people are nice, the price is competitive, the boys smelled & felt great after getting a bath, however, if it is at the cost of their nutritional neglect and lack of exercise, I will have to pass on Plano's 4 Paws Inn. read more

This place used to be great. In mid 2017 they more than doubled their daily rates. Unfortunately, they don't have the amenities, space, or staff of the other similar businesses in the area that charge a similar fee. Frankly, there's absolutely no way I would pay $26 to have my dogs stay here. There's no outside area to play, and the dogs have to pee on concrete. Now, that's not a cardinal sin or anything - but at the new price, there's absolutely no way I'd ever consider it. Our dog(s) did enjoy going there. We were regulars for a few years, and generally took one or two dogs for playcare twice per week to give them, and us a change in scenery. As soon as they announced their ridiculous price hike, that was it - we simply took our pets to a nicer, better equipped competitor much closer to our home. It's not up to me to set the price of a service from a business. Clearly, we enjoyed going there - but at the rates these folks are charging these days, nearly anything is a better option. Personally, I think 4 paws was due for a price increase, realistically. But, they went overboard, significantly, and the price hasn't come down. I guess they just figured they could squeak by on lower volume and soaking those who don't know any better. Too bad. read more

HORRIBLE!! I will never take my dogs to this place again. When we picked them up, one of them was matted with urine all over her body - it was clear that other dogs peed on her. The full bag of food that we left with them was still 3/4 of the way full, so they did not follow our instructions on food. We paid for extra playtime, yet discovered that the dogs had been locked in the kennel, not walked, and allowed to use the bathroom all over their bedding. I will say the staff is very friendly, however, when I picked up may dog at about 130 after an over night stay he wasn't in the play area. I asked the staff about it and they said he had been earlier. That was fine as long as he wasn't in the kennel the entire time. When I got him, he drug me outside and immediately peed for about a minute and then had to poop. It seemed like my dog had not been outside all day. Also we just found out he now has fleas. We take our two dogs here (weimaranear and catahoula) and they know now when we are at the 4 Paws in because they start crying and jump out of the car when we pull up. The staff does genuinely care about each dog and is very fast to learn and remember the names of the dogs. The one negative is that it is in the city so there is not a lot of outdoor play room for the dogs. It would be better if they had a huge ranch to play on, but for the fact that this is Plano, I don't think that is really an option anywhere. Having said that, our two high energy 50 lb dogs both come home worn out so I know that they get to play a lot in the space that is there. We have been to Petsmart, and most other local doggie day care places and this place is hands down the best price, especially if you are a huge dog lover and have more than one. Some other places don't give any discount on the second dog. For that reason alone we will continue to come here when they are not booked. :) read more

My dog Oliver has been here a lot over the past 3 years - mostly for daycare, sometimes boarding or grooming. The staff is awesome and they treat my dog like family. I know I can trust them. Just started bringing my dog Shasta here for daycare due to work schedule and LOVE it!!! She comes out smiling and wagging her tail when we pick her up and the staff is super friendly. I can't say enough about 4 Paws Inn! I take my shih tzu Addie in several times a week for daycare, and she is absolutely in love with all of the workers. When I walk in with her each morning she practically leaps out of my arms to get to them. When my fiance or I pick her up in the evenings, she is happy and tired, which makes for a nice relaxing evening for us. They also give us a report on how she was that day, whether it be that she did something cute or that she was aggressive to another dog. I know that she is getting plenty of attention while she is there. They feed her, and are great to listen to special instructions. Also, they offer to give medicine if needed, which is super helpful on the busy mornings that I run out of time to do it myself. Also, we get her groomed her every few weeks, and she always looks fabulous! They do exactly what I ask, and put a cute little scarf on her when she's done. Overall, I could not be more pleased with 4 Paws Inn. My lease is up at my apartment in June, and I am seriously considering the proximity to 4 Paws when looking at new places. I can't imagine taking her anywhere else! read more

Im not an active helper. Only Compelled To when I feel the need to warn or give praise....In fact this is the first time I've ever given a poor review. Sooo my two dogs have been groomed multiple times in their lives. At least 3 times and year. ( 5 and 9 years old) my poodle is a bit more active and jumpy. I'm sure that doesn't make the job easy but they actually asked that I have a vet sedate her on our next visit because of this. I've never once had this suggested. Ever ! With any pet groomer Ive ever visited. I've been to at least five Different groomers for them...It would seem pet groomers would be seasoned with a more challenging dog. Sedated for a grooming? No. Never. Also the cuts just aren't very good. A little uneven. Not horrible but not great. The customer service was fine. Seemed nice enough but I do wish they had told me their requests before I tipped them. Seemed conveniently timed. Anyhow... per their requirements I won't be back. read more

We needed a place to board our pup while we attended a funeral in OK. A friend recommended Plano's 4 Paws Inn. We had never boarded before but needed to do so and pretty last minute. When we picked up our pup, she seemed to be very content...not stressed in any way. The folks were super nice and we have used them a couple times since. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! We left our dogs at 4Paws because they advertise having an indoor dog park. We were assured they would be out most of the time, and not caged up. However, in their ten-day-stay, despite assurances when we called and texted to check up on them, we later learned they only got out a couple of times to socialize. Our two-year-old dog got so stressed out in his tiny pen/cage that he likely chewed on the bars (which have no mesh) destroying three of his molars. They have not offered to pay for X-rays and possible surgery, nor have reimbursed us for the stay. When we discovered his missing teeth and a sore on his neck, they tried to cast doubt that he suffered the injuries inside their facility. He did not go in with missing teeth or a sore/bite on his neck. We believe leaving our dog in his pen amounted to cruelty and there is no excuse for it. We are sickened by it. We called, emailed and texted to find out if they were doing okay during their stay. And when we picked them up, were told they did fine. They did not disclose - until a few days later - they only got out a few times. We would never have left them there to be treated like this. We believe we were lied to and noticed the sore/bite under the neck of the dog with the missing teeth only when we got home. Nobody mentioned this to us. We do not know for sure if this was a bite or from rubbing his neck against the bars while he was chewing his teeth down. He is not aggressive and socializes with other dogs well. Their employee had his large hound dog out each time we went up there and it is possible our dog got into a confrontation with him as he was the larger aggressive dog. We should have had our dog out all day as we were the paying customer. We should have been told about this and would gladly have had someone pick our dogs up. We just wanted our dogs treated well and received the opposite. I would not leave your dog/dogs here. They sell you a bill of goods and do not carry through. I give this place no stars, but had to put one to post. read more

Can highly recommend. I have 3 dogs - all different sizes. The staff seem to genuinely like dogs and desire to do a good job for their customers. My middle dog is particularly difficult to go anywhere new and hates strangers, never mind grooming... When I took him in the first time, he shook in my arms and I was nervous about him harming the lady groomer. But she scooped him up and showed him so much love and attention that he just melted and then calmed down. I've been back three times with all of them and will continue to support their business because they're giving customers what they want - happy dogs, well groomed. This place is awesome. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I send my dog Cooper at least a couple times a week here. He's is always excited to go and comes back the happiest and worn out dog when I pick him up. Many times I have had to drop him off and leave him over night because of work and they are always great about finding him a dog run and making sure that Cooper gets the best treatment while he's there. We took our very healthy dog to this grooming place, and it was a complete nightmare! My poor dog came back with multiple injuries all across his body, eye, leg, and tongue. If we didn't take him to the Vet the next morning, we would have lost him. Ended up having to take 3 days off, pay 5X as much as the grooming was worth, and then the only thing they did was offer me credit to COME BACK!! Who in there right mind would take them back to this place?! Not worth the risk of taking your pet here, especially if you care about them. read more

I recently moved to Plano in September and my Lab Izzy has been boarded here 4 times and she's had a great time and the people are friendly and helpful. The place is clean and my dog came home happy and healthy. NO kennel cough, fleas, or other mysterious outbreaks of rashes or sickness. I HIGHLY recommend them for boarding. I had to put my dog down 36 hours after I picked her up from a 5 day stay here. She lost half of her body weight in the 5 days she was there. I should have known, when a girl got out of her car to open the door and my boxer started growling with her hair raised up that this was not going to be a pleasant experience. I know my dog and she has never growled or behaved like that and she is consistently socialized around people and dogs of all shapes and sizes, like her trainer says "a dogs tail never lies" The girl gets out of the car with another dog. I assumed another dog owner dropping their dog off because the girl says nothing to me and made no eye contact whatsoever. Until she reaches in her pocket and grabs a set of keys to open the door. Are you kidding me? I receive more courtesy and respect from passing people on the street. The girl goes in and doesn't offer to open the door for me (a paying customer). But she did run to an alarm system so I though maybe that's why..... then she turns off the alarm and goes straight to the computer at the front desk.... still no eye contact up to this point or any kind of gesture to come in. After standing there briefly I decided to let myself in. From there she was nothing but rude. I was in customer service for over 15 years and now I work in the medical field and this type of behavior towards people who are trying to support your business is unacceptable. I should have known by the way my dogs reacted that this was not a good environment for them. Later my husband wound up leaving work earlier than expected that day so I was going to call and notify them that he would be there soon and give my payment information over the phone. The same girl who "greeted" me (for lack of a better word) answered the phone and was nothing but argumentative. I guess dogs who go to the daycare don't receive grooming services until at the end of their stay, which is fine, but this is also the same reason why I am calling. I could have not done anything and just had my husband show up and deal with it. Sorry for trying! She put me on hold and went to speak with the groomer to find out if they could receive their baths sooner and she said they would be finished in 20 minutes. I am thinking it's got to be a joke again.... 20 minutes for two dogs? When I give them baths at my home, I usually spend about 10 minutes on each dog to thoroughly clean and get rid of excess hair (10 minutes is the least amount it should take) and this does not include nail trim, ear cleaning or anything, just a bath. (And I am not trying to compare my amateur dog grooming to a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know how long it takes to properly clean an animal - I have 6 and I have done my research) My husband said he did not see much difference and one of them was still wet. Honestly, if was going to take an hour and I am on the phone then just tell me. I am sure my husband, a grown man, can surely take a little extra time arriving there to pick them up. But if you're going to do a job and pride yourself upon that then please take the time to do it right. I will go back to my experience in customer service, I understand people have mood swings and bad days... etc... but if you are at a point where you can no longer force a smile on your face and put your best self forward to impress a new customer and make them feel welcome, then maybe dog sitting (others peoples pets) isn't for you. I was always taught in exceptional customer service you are allowed to be miserable, but the good ones will never show it to their guest. Also, I will say I lived off gratuities for 15 years and I will never tip anything less than 20%, but this situation was less deserving, in my opinion. I have also seen the owner take the time to respond to a few negative reviews. And it is kind of scary to immediately jump to the defense instead of proactively taking the reviews into consideration, whether good or bad. These are people who took time out of their day and their hard earned money to support YOUR business. Regardless, of their personal experience, they are welcome to share it with the public. Local business owners should take the time to make up for their mistakes, because they do happen, not shame paying customers. However, if you feel the need to respond to my review, I encourage you. I am assuming that my contact info is in your client database. I will probably never be back to this review post and I will definitely never return to your establishment. Sadly, it's a dime a dozen business and there are too many good grooming services in the Plano area, maybe slightly more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I had decided to get my dog professionally groomed for the first time and went online to check out reviews for the surrounding groomers in my area. I chose 4Paws due to the great reviews and was excited about getting her groomed. I called to see the availability and prices and the woman on the phone told me what the prices were and that I have to make an appointments one week ahead. So I made the appointment 8-9 days prior for the 13th of February. I was also told to bring my dog between the hours of 8 and 11 am. The earlier the better and before 11 because if it was later then the appointment wasn't guaranteed. So I had my dog there at 845 am. I told the girl I had an appointment for my dog and she checked the computer and said well she's in the system, but there is no appointment for her today. She asked who I spoke to and I told her I had no clue that it was a woman and does it really matter who I spoke with? I didn't make the appointment up.She then said she would ask the groomer if they could squeeze in my dog. The groomer told her no. At that point I told her that pisses me off because I made a point to schedule my dog in plenty of time and brought her in early to assure she makes the appointment. I also asked her if my dog wasn't supposed to have an appointment, how would I know to schedule a week out and what time to bring her in? She just stood there and said she didn't know what to say. Well how about getting someone in charge to resolve this matter. No instead I left without a groomed dog and when I emailed them to voice my complaint they didn't even reply. So I am assuming they don't need any new customers and frankly don't care if there is a problem either. So I will never use or recommend them and they need to train whomever makes appointments the correct way so this doesn't happen to any other new customers. read more
