Bottom line, we built a solid working relationship with Michael and this gave us the comfort we needed to move forward with our HVAC investment. Calvey Heating and Air's estimate for a new heat pump and furnace at our house was very competitive. I was amazed at how much the pricing varied from vendor to vendor. Michael and the Calvey team made the entire process seamless from start to finish. Michael recommended an electrician who did a great job with our electric panel upgrade and the permit team did a fantastic job working with the city for all of the required paperwork. When it came time for the installation, the lead installer, Servando, and his team took pride in their work for the two day install. Similar to Michael, they were patient with me and answered all my questions during the install. Following the install, the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Team promptly arrived and conducted the necessary testing. Lastly, the permit team met with the city building inspector to successfully get the city sign off on all of the work. Throughout the entire process, Calvey Heating and Air did a great job choreographing and managing all aspects of the installation. I was constantly kept informed and Michael and his team visited our house daily during the installation to ensure all was moving forward properly. Lastly, a final walk-through was conducted by Johnny from Calvey ensuring that the install was 100% perfect. Once my wife and I have had time to work with and get familiar with our new system, Michael indicated he will have his team come by our house and balance out our vents if needed and answer any additional questions we may have. Michael came out to my house and walked me through the pros and cons of a heat pump HVAC. For my home, the extra money made no sense. I really do not need central AC. We then talked about a new Carrier, high-efficency furnace. That was exactly what I needed. I also opted for the Ecobee Smart, wi-fi enabled thermostat. I am extremely happy with everything. The price was right. The installation was flawless. The post-intall QA walkghrough, by Johnny, went really well. ThenI worked with the folks that checked all the boxes post-intalleation. We had no idea when it was last serviced or if it had ever been serviced at all. Henry gave us a very fair and competitive price for a tune up. Upon Henry's arrival, he was friendly and professional. He opened the furnace and showed us the burner. He explained it was in great condition considering the age of the unit and it didn't need servicing; although, he did clean up around a few areas around the burner. The blower motor was slightly wobbly, and once again, he explained it was still in good shape considering its age. He proceeded to the back patio where the condenser was located. He noted the unit was very old and that particular Freon is no longer available for servicing; however, he stated the unit did not need to be replaced just yet as long as it's blowing cold. Henry indicated despite our units being way past their anticipated life expectancy, they were clean and blowing hot & cold just fine. Therefore, no servicing was recommended and he did not charge us anything. We are impressed not only by Henry's friendliness and professionalism, but also by his transparency and integrity. Many other companies would have hopped on the opportunity to upsell the service or even sway us to replace our system right away, but Henry gave us peace of mind to give us time and to save up for an inevitable replacement in the future with Therma Tech. The other HVAC contractors were not qualified to help me with my attic insulation and one contractor said I had no asbestos, but Noam , who is certified for asbestos removal, said I did have asbestos. I have peace of mind knowing that Noam was honest with me in telling me what I truly needed. His crew also did an excellent job installing my garage roof insulation with a ceiling fan. My garage gets incredibly hot in the summer. I look forward to having a cooler garage and house during the hot summers and a warmer house during the winters. My doorbell was not working and when Alonzo from All Bay Insulation & HVAC went into the attic, he discovered that the wire to the doorbell was cut and the wire next to the doorbell ringer was also cut. Since we don't know who cut the wire, Noam offered to have Alonzo install a new wire for free. Alonzo had to break through my kitchen wall to install the wire and when he repatched the wall, the wall looked good as new. You cannot tell that the wall was re-opened to install a wire. My doorbell now works perfectly, and thanks to Noam, I didn't have to pay a cent for this repair.

They were done within two days and I was able to keep working while they were here! That's the overview. Here's the long story. I had a maintenance plan for our furnace through another company. They inspected the furnace and freaked me out when they said they couldn't do maintenance because of exposed asbestos in the ducts! Ugh! Even with my "special" plan pricing, their rate to remove and abate the asbestos (through a third party) and replace with new ductwork was very high. I saw All Bay and asked for an estimate. His team included removal, remediation, new ducting and insulation, new furnace - oh and cleaned the attic and installed new batting for the same price as the other company's quote. Plus the photos of previous work and their reviews sealed the deal. Done with all of it in two and a 1/2 days. The half was because they had a team that just cleaned and touched up behind the first team! These guys were so kind and worked fast. They even hauled out and disposed of some things a previous contractor had left in the crawl space without me knowing it was even down there! Then when we realized the fan in the bathroom wasn't working after the attic clean out and new insulation, the foreman himself came out to fix it. Pasquale had everything fixed within hours. If you're thinking of squeezing out another year with your old furnace, consider this - our PGE bill dropped by 100 with the new insulation, proper duct size and new furnace. That's 1200 in one year. Noam can help with that. He did not give me anything nor ask for any of this. This is for y'all doing your due diligence when it comes to home repairs. I reached out to Subzero for help, but all they could recommend is that I reached out to Box Appliance which is their preferred repair shop in the SF Bay Area which I already knew before calling. When I told Subzero that the earliest appointment with Box was 15 days later, the phone rep told me that she would reach out to Subzero to expedite the request, but in the end no one from Box got back to me for an earlier appointment. Don't who dropped the ball along the way but I as the customer was left in the cold, even though I got a Subzero but apparently means little when it comes to support. In search for other repair service, I came across Spark Appliance which got many great review. I decided to give Spark Appliance a try. The owner Eli quickly responded to my request and came over the next day. He quickly diagnose the problem to be a relay part issue to the compressor and was 99% sure to be the case. Fortunately, he had the part in the truck so was able to replace it right away. Additionally, he cleaned up my very dusty machinery to keep the refrigerator running efficiently. My freezer is still running fine few days later after the fix, so I can confidently say the problem was correctly resolved. I was lucky to have found Spark Appliance through this ordeal even though Box or Subzero did not come through. I found Eli and Spark Appliance to be experienced, reliable and honest, and I won't hesitate to call them again whenever I have future appliances issues (they work on all things appliances and not just refrigerator!)
