Food is just as good as ever. i tried their green tamales and they were a little drier than I like, but I ordered them enchilada style with the sour cream/green chili sauce, so they were redeemed - that sauce can save any dish!! both of my friends got their breakfast burritos (Enchilada style - of course!) and they looked amazing! They said they had just the perfect amount of churizo in them. There was a bit of a wait and it was FREEZING outside. I am thoroughly impressed. I stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morning and the food and service were both excellent. I had the Silver City breakfast which was hashbrowns topped with hatch green chili sauce, onions (I ordered without), eggs, cheese and I ordered the add on of red chili pork. It was so delicious! My eggs were scrambled and they were cooked perfectly for me, soft and not runny or too firm. Tons of spicy and flavorful green chili sauce, a pile of hashbrowns and plenty of pork. All of the individual aspects of the dish were packed with flavor and the dish as a whole was mouth-watering and explosive! It was spicy, my mouth is still tingling, and I love it! I'm so tired of eating flavorless meals that I have to pour salt or hot sauce over and this meal needed nothing! My waitress was fantastic, the food came out almost immediately after I ordered it, and I am in love. This is my new go-to breakfast place! read more

This was one of the more confusing experiences I've had at a restaurant. My wife and I walked in here at 8 pm on a Friday. There were a few people waiting outside, but we saw two open seats at the bar (about ten seats total--all the the rest full) and so we grabbed them. We sat there for almost ten minutes while the THREE bartenders never acknowledged our existence. If it were busy, sure, that's one thing, but they seemed to be looking for things to do: replacing frosted pints in the cooler, filling tortilla plates for the next hypothetical customer (not us apparently), and generally not doing much of anything. After a long and awkward wait, my wife and I decided to ditch out. We didn't even get waters. This place is seriously lacking your basic elementary customer service. Like I said, it was a very confusing ten minutes. Obviously, we won't be back. It's a real shame because my wife is Yelp elite, and the kitchen smelled good. read more

The green hatch chili sauce is the best in town and super addictive. (They sell it in jars if you can't get enough) the cantina has a lot more seating compared to the original location on Kolb and also serves alcohol. The portions are big here so come hungry. There was one point where we saw 3 waitresses talking away in the back while it took 30 min to get a table (again there were MANY tables open) AND OVER 40 MIN to get the food and even just the appetizer. Ok, wanted some good Mexican food, with a place I had never been before, and looked over all the reviews of all the mexican places. I absolutely love New Mexican cuisine. I can get Sonoran mexican any day of the week from almost anywhere. But I wanted something different, so, I chose this one. For the most part, I was NOT dissapointed. I had my favorite Green chili Cheese Enchilada plate, and it was EXTREMELY good. My wife had a taco salad with Machaca (her favorite). The service was EXCELLENT. I usually do a 15% tip, for average service, this rated 20%. The waitress kept watch and filled my empty glass promptly without my asking. Before the meal even came out we got our complementary chips and salsa, and after a few minutes, she noticed that we were getting low, so she just came with some more -- wow! The only downside that we had is that the refried beans weren't the best. They were pureed. We both like a little chunkiness to our beans -- you know what we mean. But don't let that deter you from coming here, the food was just EXCELLENT. You must try this place. read more

I finally had a chance to have dinner at Poco and Mom's after hearing so much about it from several friends. I have to say, I was not disappointed. I am a big fan of spicy food and grew up eating it, so I was excited to try their hatch green chile sauce having had dishes with them at some other places around town. I decided to go with the combo plate since it was my first time and I was warned that it was a lot of food for just one meal. Knowing that, I still decided to go for it since I wasn't going to be sad about leftovers. The combo plate comes with a chicken enchilada in green sauce, a chile relleno in sour cream sauce, a shredded beef taco, and a generous helping of both rice and beans. The chile relleno was divine and the chicken enchilada was quite good too. I typically order enchiladas at Mexican places, so I'm glad I was able to try more than just that. I was not surprised by the fact that the hatch green chile sauce was actually fairly spicy. I loved it and am happy to see that they didn't make it milder by adding cream to satisfy more people's spice tolerance. The balance of the green and white sauces on the plate was also helpful since there was definitely a good amount of heat from the green sauce. I ended up taking my taco and much of my sides home as leftovers and they were still tasty the next day. I should mention that the price for the plate was only about $13, much less than a regular sized dish at other restaurants. I am looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast some time. I should also mention that I went early to put our names down for a table of 5 and I appreciate that they let you do so without your whole party present. I understand why many restaurants don't allow this, but given it's popularity, it would be sad to miss out on such great food due to reservation rules. This place was sooo good! There was a 30 minute wait on a Saturday night, so we decided to sit at the bar. I wasn't given a drink menu, so I had great difficulty deciding what to drink. When one bartender made me feel like an ass for asking questions and suggestions, the other stepped in and made some phenomenal suggestions that let me select the best drink for me. The food was delicious! I was so impressed and so full-it was great! I would have said that I was too full for dessert and not had any which would have been a grave mistake. I luckily have fabulous friends who make excellent executive decisions and unknown to me ordered the sopapillas- They were incredible! I left very happy. It was the first time I had eaten here. The food was really good, the meats tender and flavorful. They also had a meeting space in the back that can accommodate around 20-25 people. The meeting room is separate and away from the main restaurant. Our Lion's Club had an event there and everyone loved how quiet it was to meet. The one on Kolb, near 22nd St. is more casual, and we prefer it to the more formal location on Tanque Verde, near Sabino Canyon Road. It was better when this location first opened. Every time we come back the food has gotten worse. Another thing is their employees are constantly going to the parking lot. First one person goes to a certain vehicle then that person leaves and another person goes to that same vehicle. I wasn't born yesterday, my take is they are doing meth bumps and smoking cigs in the parking lot. That same person is the one that's working in around the food you eat. Live In Texas City, TX. When visiting my brother who lives near the Tanque Verde location, I make it a point to eat breakfast at Poco & Moms Cantina. Meals were always excellent, and service was always very good. Wait staff was always very friendly and welcoming. Love their bottled Hatch chili green sauce. Brought back 2 bottles home from my last visit in April. Use the sauce on almost anything, fried eggs, Tacos, tamales, hamburgers, etc. Ordered 2 more bottles today to be shipped to my home. This place is very cool, looks just like your at a Santa Fe restaurant, or Taos NM. The service was great, the bartender awesome, the FOOD, outstanding. I ordered the Santa Fe plate, with green and red chile with beans and a tortilla, you had and option of pork in red sauce or machaca, I had the pork. The food came, eggs, sauce beans all beautiful , but on top was what I guessed was the pork, it was cubed. Now, the flavor was fine, the pork, but I'm not a fan of anything being cube cut, was not happy. The food was awesome, but it could have been over the top if they just put a chunk of pork on top, rather than some little chunks of pork. Folks, please don't make food look like alpo. Would have given it a 5 star if the pork had looked like pork, on-top of that, it tends to dry out the meat when cut in such small pieces, please change that, and I think it will be perfect. Lastly, the green chile is sold in jars, great stuff from Hatch NM, but they make it there. I loved both the green and the red, so I proceeded to buy both, they had to give me what I thought was the red in a styrofoam cup, when I got it home, it was salsa, not red chile. I did not want salsa for my chips, I wanted their red chile sauce. You have to go and eat here, I have been to NM many times, this place is just as good, if not better than some in Taos NM. Poco & Mom's Cantina is a great spot to hit for weekend brunch. The patio is so relaxing with a large, beautiful fountain in the center and the patio is also very well shaded with misters. I love this Poco & Mom's location because they serve alcoholic beverages at breakfast. My favorite dishes here are the bacon, green Chile breakfast burrito and also their chorizo meal. I love that they serve chips and salsa at breakfast, their salsa is delicious and once in awhile it's fun to start your day off with chips and salsa! If I could have licked my plate I would have. The sour cream green chili sauce ...okay...how do you describe heaven. The food was delicious. Fresh and ample portions. We had to roll home. I had the chicken enchilada with the sour cream chili sauce, my friend had the stuffed sopapilla with shredded beef. The margarita's were served in 10 oz cups. There was no room for dessert. My only negative is the noise level inside. It was hard to have a conversation. The patio is lovely but it fills up early and people seem to linger. My burrito was good but nothing amazing i.e. I could get it anywhere else in Tucson too. The thing that really made me not give this place a 4 was the service. I hope you have 2 hours to eat. May 5th is probably the busiest day for a Mexican cantina. But here at Poco & Mom's, it was a 30-35 minute wait to be seated, and we didn't wait a minute longer. For half an hour, it went by pretty quickly for my family and I. Once we were seated, we were almost immediately greeted by our server Brandon. Being a server myself, I try to turn off that part of my mind where I judge everything. But, my boyfriend and I couldn't be happier with our server!!!! He was AMAZING!!! I mean, hands down the best service we have ever had in any restaurant before!!! He definitely was in pure work mode when we first got seated, I know that feeling/look working as a server, but he didn't rush us with our questions about the kids menu, and he topped off our drinks without us even asking! All I have to say is amazing!!!!! I could probably even learn a few tricks and tips lol. I definitely recommend requesting him as your server, I promise you will be more than satisfied. This place was great. I was in Tucson traveling for work and wanted a quick meal from a local place. Poco and Moms Cantina was perfect. The front room, the only that I saw, is small but has a good vibe and a small bar worked well for me as a solo diner, and I imagine would work great for a few friends looking for drinks and maybe some food. I wasn't sure what I wanted, so Zeno, manning the bar, told me he would take care of it. I soon was served with amazing New Mexican style green chile enchiladas with red chile pork. The enchiladas were out of this world and the pork was as tender and tasty as I can recall having. Zeno recommended finishing off with a sopapilla filled with honey which perfectly finished the meal. I don't usually review restaurants, but this place certainly deserved it. I look forward to coming back to Tucson if only to return to this wonderful establishment. read more
