We reserved on Tock, and it was mostly full on a Friday night. Drinks: lots of local beers are available, but I went with the Pineapple Express: she warned it was spicy, and it indeed was (in a really good way). All of the food is done family style: - Clams Galicia: with tomato, chorizo, bacon broth. This broth as amazing. I literally drank it with a spoon - Pan con tomate: slightly different from classic preparation - more flavorful and heavier on the toppings - Salmorejo: tomato and bread puree, Serrano, jammy egg - like a creamy gazpacho - Grilled asparagus: with whipped ricotta and a cured egg yolk - Squid ink pasta: with hazelnuts, caramelized onions, peppers, and a runny egg yolk, a bit spicy. This dish was my favorite - Honey brined pork chop with a basque piperade sauce The servers were all great about checking in. I would definitely recommend the squid ink pasta and the clams if you're in town!

And, as always, the staff were super nice, friendly, and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to!

The local beer options were excellent , and Corbyn (who waited on us) was so great with information on pairings and recommendations with orders. The beignets are sinful. There should be no way on this big blue, green, white, brown marble we call Earth, that the only place in the world that makes the most incredible beignets is located 700 miles from where I reside. It's not fair. Do yourself a favor if you're visiting. Go in. Bask in the music curated by the staff, enjoy local beers. Savor the most incredible fried chicken since before Harland Sanders sold out. Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on.

The inside atmosphere is sports bar fabulous plenty of seating for groups or couples. We shared a juicy hazy IPA and an order of scotch eggs while sitting on the patio, which is shaded and comfortable with both picnic tables and bar-top seating. I was thrilled to find that the scotch eggs were not only delicious but also authentically prepared. The yolk was soft and slightly runny, and the crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful. This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back!

Five Stars -- A Must‑Try in Downtown Salem!…read more My wife and I stopped by Akai Ramen yesterday, and this spot absolutely delivered. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, hot gemai tea, cucumbers, fresh salad, and the seafood ramen -- every single dish came out flavorful, balanced, and clearly made with care. The portions were generous, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality. The service was immaculate from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming -- the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back before you've even left. The decor is clean and modern with plenty of seating, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a date, a family meal, or a quick bite. Yes, you do have to pay for parking in downtown Salem, but once you're inside, the food, the vibe, and the service make it more than worth it. If you're anywhere near Salem, I highly recommend stopping by. Akai Ramen is doing everything right -- great food, great people, great experience. Five stars all day.

You can eat inside there or there's a shaded outside eating area between the bar and the food cart. I went with the Slangers Style burger, which comes with white cheddar, smoked Oaxaca cheese sauce, Slangers Sauce and fried pickled red onion. I got mine with two patties. This burger was unctuously rich and super saucy. I think, for me, two patties was a bit much. I removed one of the patties and the flavors of all the components came through a bit more pronounced and balanced. So, I would stick with one patty on my next visit. Because I dislike wasting food, I also ate the extra patty by itself, and it was great and well-seasoned. The fries were delicious as well: hearty with bits of potatoes skin and fried to a perfect crispness. I will absolutely be back as this is one of the best burgers I've had in Salem!

The primary problem was that they were out of many menu items by 6pm. The dining room is cool with a nice vibe, super friendly waiter and food came from the kitchen pretty quickly. Weird arrangement with the coffee shop located in the restaurant as well. Restaurant was out of desserts and coffee, but could not serve any of the desserts from the coffee shop case, as those were part of the coffee shop.
