Terrific service. Inside was cozy. I didn't order food, just drinks and they were made perfectly. Bartender was great!

Its a small place but man is it good! The menu has a variety of items, we have only been there for breakfast and it has not disappointed! We usually stick to our usual, steak and eggs, and a huge pancake and breakfast potatoes. The steak is always cooked just right and the potatoes amazing! And the pancakes I mean just look at it. Our server, Ellen, is simply the best. Didn't matter how busy it was she made sure to check on all her tables! A staple in the area for sure, stop by I promise you won't be disappointed.

It's a dive bar with food!!! Service is great! Linny was friendly and smart also accommodating! Onion rings were crispy and the right temperature. Wings were the best, many dipping sauces to choose from! Salad was standard and the Bloody Marys were refreshing!

Point break cafe is a neighborhood favorite dive bar and comfort food diner all rolled into one. it is spacious and has a full kitchen. I was there on a Sunday during brunch and it was very busy. Nonetheless the kitchen is fast and they are pretty well staffed so food came out pretty quick. I tried the number one house omelette, it was a bit of a creamy mess and the pesto cream didn't really have much flavo. There's also supposed to be artichoke, there wasn't much. I've definitely had better omelettes. Overall, if you're looking for a bar or diner in this area, this does the trick.

The host was AMAZING! She was so kind and caring. I ordered the Mexican scramble and it delivered. Tasted very authentic and the refried beans were delicious! The corn tortillas were likely nuked in a microwave (ugh) but they still complimented the dish nonetheless. The old-school music in the background was accordingly fitting to that atmosphere and vibe of the place. I felt VERY Pulp Fiction and I fell in love with it all. I dug this place 100% and would come back for sure!

Hidden gem on Shelter Island. Great breakfast spot ; the wraps and buttermilk pancakes were delicious, the pot coffee was strong. Friendly service from the time we entered the restaurant. The decor was a bit dated but gave it a good, retro vibe. Well done.

Seagull looking for a quick meal on unattended plates...!

Nestled in the heart of Point Loma, this place is not fancy, but is a local favorite, especially amongst the sailors and live-aboards. When I still lived here I was within walking distance and came here to eat at least once a week. The service is usually great and the food delicious. The portions are large and easy to split with your date and both will walk away full. My favorite add on to breakfast is their pineapple coconut pancakes. Delish! Beware of naughty sea gulls who will pounce on unattended plates if dining outside, and be ready for dogs trying to attack each other from under tables. It's Cali. Everyone has to bring their dog... Whatever. Just don't bite me and stare me down while I'm eating.

Wow. What a hidden gem. I walked here from my hotel looking for a sit down American breakfast. They delivered on all fronts: food, ambiance, friendless, and options. I am here dying the holidays and it's decorated in a cozy manner. I love it. Will probably be back again before I go home I got the point break breakfast with egg whites. Exactly what I was after

Popular for breakfast. At 7:30am, only three of us, but by 8am, over 30 people. Had the fun breakfast with French toast yesterday and biscuits and gravy this morning.

Seating took a little while after opening, likely because they stagger new parties to avoid overwhelming the kitchen with orders all at once. There were tons of fun brunch drinks listed on a cute, record-shaped acrylic menu, although the coffee options were pretty limited. The food menu was just as fun and whimsical, and the waitstaff were all dressed to match the theme. Everyone was efficient, friendly, and helpful. We tried the soufflé pancakes, which were good, though they weren't quite as fluffy and jiggly as Japanese soufflé pancakes. They were also quite sweet on their own, so we didn't really need the syrup. We also ordered the cheese fondue plate, which came with steamed vegetables, kielbasa, and bread cubes--a really fun concept. Overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, playful, and definitely part of the experience. I'd happily come back if I'm in the area, especially if there isn't a long wait for a table.

The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. Thank goodness there was room too, because wow oh wow. It has been three weeks and we keep talking about that happy hour. Everything came out quickly and beautifully portioned, which made getting dessert (magpie ice cream cake) a no brainer. Delicious!!!
