Terrific service. Inside was cozy. I didn't order food, just drinks and they were made perfectly. Bartender was great!

Its a small place but man is it good! The menu has a variety of items, we have only been there for breakfast and it has not disappointed! We usually stick to our usual, steak and eggs, and a huge pancake and breakfast potatoes. The steak is always cooked just right and the potatoes amazing! And the pancakes I mean just look at it. Our server, Ellen, is simply the best. Didn't matter how busy it was she made sure to check on all her tables! A staple in the area for sure, stop by I promise you won't be disappointed.

It's a dive bar with food!!! Service is great! Linny was friendly and smart also accommodating! Onion rings were crispy and the right temperature. Wings were the best, many dipping sauces to choose from! Salad was standard and the Bloody Marys were refreshing!

Point break cafe is a neighborhood favorite dive bar and comfort food diner all rolled into one. it is spacious and has a full kitchen. I was there on a Sunday during brunch and it was very busy. Nonetheless the kitchen is fast and they are pretty well staffed so food came out pretty quick. I tried the number one house omelette, it was a bit of a creamy mess and the pesto cream didn't really have much flavo. There's also supposed to be artichoke, there wasn't much. I've definitely had better omelettes. Overall, if you're looking for a bar or diner in this area, this does the trick.

The host was AMAZING! She was so kind and caring. I ordered the Mexican scramble and it delivered. Tasted very authentic and the refried beans were delicious! The corn tortillas were likely nuked in a microwave (ugh) but they still complimented the dish nonetheless. The old-school music in the background was accordingly fitting to that atmosphere and vibe of the place. I felt VERY Pulp Fiction and I fell in love with it all. I dug this place 100% and would come back for sure!

Hidden gem on Shelter Island. Great breakfast spot ; the wraps and buttermilk pancakes were delicious, the pot coffee was strong. Friendly service from the time we entered the restaurant. The decor was a bit dated but gave it a good, retro vibe. Well done.

Seagull looking for a quick meal on unattended plates...!

Nestled in the heart of Point Loma, this place is not fancy, but is a local favorite, especially amongst the sailors and live-aboards. When I still lived here I was within walking distance and came here to eat at least once a week. The service is usually great and the food delicious. The portions are large and easy to split with your date and both will walk away full. My favorite add on to breakfast is their pineapple coconut pancakes. Delish! Beware of naughty sea gulls who will pounce on unattended plates if dining outside, and be ready for dogs trying to attack each other from under tables. It's Cali. Everyone has to bring their dog... Whatever. Just don't bite me and stare me down while I'm eating.

Wow. What a hidden gem. I walked here from my hotel looking for a sit down American breakfast. They delivered on all fronts: food, ambiance, friendless, and options. I am here dying the holidays and it's decorated in a cozy manner. I love it. Will probably be back again before I go home I got the point break breakfast with egg whites. Exactly what I was after

Popular for breakfast. At 7:30am, only three of us, but by 8am, over 30 people. Had the fun breakfast with French toast yesterday and biscuits and gravy this morning.

Unfortunately, this spot does not live up to the classic high octane Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze film of its namesake.

Instead of simply assigning us a table, she went above and beyond by letting us choose the one we liked. Her attitude was warm, welcoming, and set the tone for what we hoped would be a great brunch. Unfortunately, our server, Conner, wasn't as welcoming. We upgraded to the bottomless mimosas, but every refill required us to flag her down. My brother and I each had around four mimosas, and not a single refill was offered proactively. It honestly felt like every pour was being rationed, as if the bottles were coming out of her own pocket instead of being part of the service we had already paid for. The most disappointing moment came when I flagged her down for one final refill. She told me, "I'm sorry, bottomless mimosas end at 3:00." I looked at the time...it was 3:02 p.m. After spending the entire meal chasing our server for refills, being denied over a two minute difference felt incredibly petty and left a bad impression. Because of the level of service, I chose not to tip waitress Conner. Instead, I gave my tip to the hostess and Mrs. Danielle because that's who genuinely elevated our experience. What surprised me most was Conner's reaction after noticing this, rather than handling it professionally, she visibly became upset, creating an awkward ending to what should have been a relaxing brunch. Literal tantrum. In public. Mrs. Danielle immediately stepped in, apologized, and handled the situation with professionalism and grace. She completely salvaged the experience, and she's the reason we'll be willing to come back. The view was BEAUTIFUL. I hope management recognizes how valuable employees like the hostess & Mrs. Danielle are. At the same time, I hope Conner receives coaching on attentive service and professionalism, because the contrast between the two was impossible to miss. As someone is the service department, those two minutes were negligible.

We got there about ten minutes early and the hostess said that they needed to clear and clean our table, but "they already paid" so it wouldn't be long. This was a random Monday and the place was largely empty, but we did show up early and were totally content to wait. We told her we would be right outside (nice view of the marina) and she said she'd let us know. I went back up to the host stand after two parties our size walked in and were immediately seated, it was past our reservation time and no one had called for us. She looked at me completely without any recognition and asked how many in my party. I confirmed seven, and she started to tell me she wasn't sure when she would have a table available and asked if we had a reservation. It was an extremely confusing interaction, I had just spoken to her less than ten minutes prior and it was a very slow day. I said yes, we did have a reservation and she seated us immediately. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Half the entrees came out at once, although one person who had ordered a soup and an entree received the entree first and had to ask and wait for the soup. We all sat there for easily 5+ minutes before the other half of the table received their food... and two of the orders were completely wrong. The food tasted fine, but the errors and poorly-coordinated service meant we all sat there for far longer than we'd planned. I understand why there are many complaints here about the service; if this is the best they can manage on a Monday lunch with the restaurant over half empty, I can't imagine how the wheels must come completely off when they're at capacity. Won't bother to return, even though it's super close to the airport... maybe they rely on folks not coming back?!

Which is fascinating, because The Good Egg has this very visible sign right when you walk in praising their 2023 Beacon Readers Choice Awards for the area's best breakfast. This is not an award-winning restaurant or experience. The first feeling I had was that the Good Egg reminded me of a hotel restaurant. The ambiance and decor are generic and stale. The team barely gave a good morning when I walked in, and I noticed they had the same nonchalant attitude toward other guests. I will say that that I was impressed with the cleanliness, and the menu is extensive. with breakfast and brunch served daily. The menu features lighter options, like yogurt parfaits and avocado toast, a variety of Eggs Benedict, hearty skillets, classic breakfast plates, omelettes and Southwestern-inspired dishes, such as chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. They also have pancakes, a Belgian waffle and French toast on the menu. It seems the stuffed French toast is popular. There are also sandwiches, wraps, melts and salads. They also seem vegetarian and kid-friendly. But, goodness, the food is quite bland. It has no soul in it. I will say that the bacon is outstanding. But all else -- underwhelming.
