I don't know how this place isn't packed every time I go. I must be getting lucky because this is one of my favorite Poke places around. They do it right! Everything tastes so fresh, and the portions are large. When I get a large it's enough food for my wife and I. Like I said earlier I have never had to wait in line which is wonderful and the staff are always courteous and quick. I have been going to this Poke shop for years and have never been disappointed. They have the freshest fish and (in my opinion) the best sauces! I'm giving this place 3 stars as an average. A score of 5 stars for the amazing service, but 0 stars for the food. The staff was amazing, friendly and patient; however, upon getting my eating my food, I noticed a very sore taste and a rotten smell coming from my bowl. I took it upon my self to try each ingredient to see what it was. It was definitely the spicy tuna and the brown rice. The spicy tuna smelled rotted and tasted like it hasn't been refrigerated for a couple of days. I'm really good at making brown rice so I was a bit disappointed when I noticed the brown rice was a bit watery than average brown rice which was fine only that when rice is that watery and left for a while, it does spoil quicker. I think that's what happened with today's batch of rice maybe. It had the gross spoiled rice taste and if you eat rice all the time, you know what that taste is. Needless to say, I won't be back because of the food quality. The portions are food and the service is outstanding and I understand it isn't the server's fault because they don't have control over the quality, the management however does. Love the food. Great location, I'm happy they opened up one here in Claremont village. The staff still seem a little unsure about their stamp cards, whether it's per bowl or per visit even though it says per bowl on the card. Otherwise it's good, I'd return. ***Ohh! Best poke place in the area (if not the only one?)! Minus one star for less generous scoops and portions than other poke places and no eel sauce, but everything else was great. I got the regular bowl with half salad and half brown rice with 2 scoops salmon and 1 scoop spicy tuna. All the fishes tasted fresh, none of that funky fish taste that comes from less fresh fish. I liked that they have tempura crumbs and the hot cheeto crumbs was a touch of novelty. Service was efficient and place was clean, but seating is limited as the dining area is quite small. read more

I only gave 4 stars because I tried to make a phone order today and they said it would take 30-40 minutes to be ready. That's ok for hot food but this is make-it-in-front-of-you Poke. Have been eating at Poke Dot since they first opened in Claremont. Initially, this establishment provided a fresh, fairly priced product. There have been a couple of times where things have been a bit off, but nothing extreme. Visiting tonight, Superbowl Sunday left an impression that will result in finding another poke "go to." spot. Rice was cold and dry- I would have to presume that business was slow, and the product sat too long. Albacore was too soft, almost at the point of being mushy. Salmon was a 180°, having tough spots, and lacking overall freshness. Even with the request of multiple sauces, the product was a disappointment - especially at nearly 15.00. This is by far my favorite poke spot in the IE. I usually come for lunch like today 2pm. Parking can be a challenge during rush hour, but this time it was not. You can park on the street and that's usually ok. Now to their food: fresh poke and their rice is good, let's face it rice is not hard to get. Their proteins are good and fresh, toppings plentiful, avocado is free ++ and their sauces really knock out of the park. I specially love their Volcano and Cilantro sauce. Good stuff. I spent $12.98 for a regular size bowl (3 protein) scoops and a fountain drink. The place is clean, staff friendly, they even offer samples of their sauces. Overall nice atmosphere and good food. MEH..ordered online, got there and the order had been cancelled. Apparently their ipad wasn't plugged in?!?Family was hungry so I got in a long line to order. One gal working hard to keep it moving, the other not so much. She was working harder to look busy. Out the of avocado, out of hot Cheetos and no effort to get any from the back. After 1 hour + we finally had food to take home. Fish was good but they smash SO much rice in the bowl that it's hard to mix and eat. Definitely do NOT recommended online ordering. I normally love this poke spot in Claremont, but today was not good. The avocado was slimy and well as crab meat. The female who mixed my bowl got shrimp mixed in (did not order that... thank goodness I don't have a shellfish allergy) and barely put any sauce. Honestly, it tasted weird today like it wasn't very fresh. Kind of a bummer since I used my birthday reward for this. If this had been my first time, I would have rated it one star. I absolutely love Poke Dot for the price a regular is more than enough. They are more than generous with scoops of fish and they also have really amazing seaweed salad as well as fresh avocado. What separates Poke Dot and why it's so good is their sauces like cilantro twist, volcano, and their parents ponzu. I've been here numerous times and it's always amazing. I've had several good experiences here. The portions are decent and the poke is fresh with a good selection. I prefer adding a thin layer of lettuce to add some texture and that's not one of the options on the menu but the staff obliges without issue. Only problem I've ever had was finding decent parking on a weekend but that is common in the village and it's not Poke Dot's fault. read more

Just dropped in for some Poke! The weather has been hot along with the humidity, which does not help much, but does set the tone for some Poke. They have a great selection, many choices to choose from, and the Poke was fresh! They have great customer service and the employees are very welcoming. Food is good, fish is as fresh as you want. Unfortunately they do overcharge you without a second thought. This has happened twice out of about 10 visits. Paid for a large and they put it in a medium and had no room for anything more than a topping. Plenty of large bowls left. Friend got a large and mine weighed half hers. Just order a medium here, no point to pay for more and then not get it. If you're hungry enough for more food, just go to one of the other poke places around, hate to say it. read more

However I'm giving it three stars because the scoops are smaller than normal and I had a piece of bone in one of them. If you're going to skimp on the meat at least make sure it's top tier.
