Any poke place that gives free avocado automatically moves towards the top of my list. YES. I work across the street from this place so I have the option to eat this EVERY DAY!...but I won't because there is always a MASSIVE line (as expected during lunch rush). Don't be fooled when you see the front door, oh no, walk around towards the back and FACE THE LONG LINE. The line moves kind of quickly, but we've waited up to 20mins before. It's just like all your other poke places --- assembly line poke. - small (3 scoops) or large (5 scoops) bowl - Brown rice, white rice, salad, or a combo. - Salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, scallop, shrimp, and the *Special* which is currently yellowtail. - several different sauce options including a special one each month -- right now is wasabi honey? I'm not a fan of wasabi, so I haven't tried it --- I'm good with the house (spicy) paired with volcano sauce on the side. - all your standard sides and toppings: cucumber, crab meat, avocado, masago, onions, seaweed flakes, sesame seeds, Over all, another solid poke place. Don't know if I'd completely go out of my way for it, but it's fresh, tasty, and on par with other poke bowl prices. YAY! read more

Another poke bowl place has popped up in Orange County and this one is just as good as the others. They have quality ingredients and great fish choices. I love all the extra little add-ons you can add. You can even ask for extra veggies for no extra charge. Woo! I opt for the half rice/half salad as my base. I get the small bowl - don't be fooled, I have yet to finish a size small. The amount of food they serve in a size small is ample and fills me up. Small comes with two scoops of seafood of your choice. Regular is three scoops and the large is five scoops. I honestly think that the large could be share between five people. For the add-ons, there are a ton of options like crab meet, avocado, onions, cucumber, etc. I got everything. They also have several sauces to choose from. Most of them are a bit spicy so if you like zero spice, they have a Cilantro Twist sauce that's pretty good. Other things they offer on their menu are spam musubis (they are premade ahead of time) and soup. Tried both and both did not disappoint. Note that this location gets extremely busy, as in line-out-the-door busy, during lunchtime on weekdays. I opt to come during dinner time since it's less crowded. Now, what makes Poke Dot different from other poke bowl places? It's their great customer service. Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. I had some questions about sauces and they were more than happy to give me other sauces on the side. I didn't feel rushed, they accommodate special requests, and they are an all-around great bunch. If poke is what you're looking for then look no further. I love all the options and at first I thought you could only choose one protein, but then they said each scoop could be different. That just gave them an extra star in my book. I got Ahi and scallops with pretty much every topping they had. I figured you might as well try them all. I come to poke dot a lot because it's the closest poke spot by my house. I score it a solid B+. Every time I go the food is consistently good and service is always courteous and quick! Their house sauces aren't quite as flavorful as some other spots but it does taste very clean which I love! Great for a post workout protein kick! Some other poke spots I've noticed can be a little too oily and can make me feel bleh after. Come to poke dot for some fast delicious poke! read more

Edit: I stopped going to Uroko. Mainly because you can definitely taste the quality. Poke Dot has been a lot better since my first visit. I come here when I am hungry and can't stray too far from work. To me, the quality taste alot fresher and they have improved on their flavoring. I really dig their seasonal sauces, especially the honey wasabi... that was a dream. Love this place! Choose your base (rice, salad or chips), your sides, your protein, and then your sauce and toppings. Compared to Uroko on Bristol, they have less toppings, but everything else is pretty much the same, including pricing. As far as flavoring goes, I think Poke Dot's poke sauce falls just a little flat but then again, it might be me because I like lots of flavor and I feel like Uroko hits that spot for me. Pros: Lots of choices and it's all included with the price. $10.95 for their 5 scoop large bowl Cons: None that I can think of. With all the Poke places popping up, I think Poke Dot is probably the closest to Pokinometry in terms of number of options, quality, and price. I opted for the their $10.95 bowl which gives you 5 scoops of fish. I ended up selecting salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, scallop, and octopus. For my sauce, I ended up getting their spicy mayo (which isn't really spicy at all). What I liked is that all their additional toppings (ie. ginger, avocado, crab, etc) are included in the price. A couple other poke places are charging extra for that stuff. Forget that haha. Anyway, the 5 scoops was actually a little too much food. I didn't even finish it all. The quality of the food was great though. Definitely going to come back when I have the craving for poke. read more

I had my lunch three times in here. 4-5 people always making a line. So, I have enough time to think what can i get in my bowl. Be careful on sauce. When I got spicy mayo, I burned my lips for an hour. You need to order cucumber and avocado, a lot. Shurimp and salmon, with mild sauce were good combination for me. read more

Above all, I'm so glad this poke place is so close to home! Irvine def needed a place like this. I usually get the regular sized bowl with half brown rice and chips. Their portions are great and it really fills you up! The price is well worth! I would say the fish (protein) tastes fresh and my personal favorite combo is salmon, octopus, and tuna. Octopus adds nice chewy texture and goes well with the crispy chips. For the sauce, their house is soy sauce based so it's nothing too crazy but adds good salty flavoring to the fish. My personal favorite is volcano. Wow Izzzz bomb.com! I wouldn't say volcano is super spicy but there is a good kick to it. (Maybe it can be a little bit more spicy) I sometimes add jalapeños in the mix to get extra spicy flavoring with the volcano ( try this for all you spicy lovers out there!) Am I a foodie or am I a foodie? ANYWAYS. For people that like to mix sauces, I would recommend combo of either spicy mayo and volcano or cilantro twist and medium or any house with spicy mayo drizzle on top. I don't think cilantro and spicy mayo go well together. Also, do not mix every sauce possible. Just don't. I would say 2 max and we gucci. I've only been to one other poke place in Anaheim and I first thought this place tasted more bland than the other place but It just tastes healthier and more organic! Main difference is in their sauce and I sorta like that it has less strong sesame oil taste than the other place. Plus, more options for sauce and toppings. This is my all time favorite poke place. As a Poke bowl fanatic, I think their portion and freshness of the protein are exceptional. Their services have always been great, and their toppings are everything you'd find in a poke restaurant. I am definitely considered as a regular here. Here's a tip, get the Volcano sauce. The volcano sauce is not that spicy, and it goes really well with the protein. On the other hand, it also adds a little kick to your poke bowl. Came here with my sister a couple of weeks ago an hour before closing time. We had a huge craving for Poke during dinner time. This is a great place that is local in Irvine if you have a craving for some Poke. This place can be a stay and dine in or a take it to go. Cleanliness/Decor The decor was simple, a modern feel of wood and steel to it. It was illuminated with bright lights which makes it really enjoyable to be there. The place was very clean. Food The food is great! There were many options like making a nacho salad poke or salad poke. However, I got the traditional poke with brown rice. The fish that I selected were salmon, tuna and yellow tail, which were very fresh. Service AMAZING! The 2 guys that greeted us were really friendly and extremely helpful. They let us sample their speciality sauces before we selected what to put in our poke. Overall Experience 5 stars. The food and service was great! The total experience was fantastic! Soft opening, got the large bowl with a selection of protein. Make your own bowl chipotle style. I enjoyed being able to pick my toppings. I enjoyed the meat selection of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp and scallops. The scallops I could have done without, a bit small and flavorless. I had the cilantro twist which was a good sauce to help the flavoring. The only negative I would say is both the brown and white rice are a bit dry. Out of all the poke places that are opening, I'd have to say this one is my favorites. Everything is pretty explanatory. Small gets you 3 scoops of fish and medium gets you 5. I usually go with salmon, yellowtail, and tuna, and add all of the toppings on (avocado, crabmeat, jalapenos, onions, etc etc etc). For sauces, I'd recommend the spicy house sauce, as house was a little bland for me. I've yet to try the volcano one. Props. Portions are a lot bigger than your normal Poke place. Other places are usually more stingy with their portions, but this place really packs it on. I only got the regular size bowl but I didn't even have to think about how to portion the fish to everything else, I always ended up with some sort of protein with every bite I had. My Order: Regular Bowl, Brown Rice, Everything Added. Spicy Tuna, Salmon, Tuna. Added the Medium House Sauce + Spicy Mayo, got Green Onions + Tempura + Masago, added ginger on the side! For a Poke place, I usually end up a bit unsatisfied with the portion, so I'd definitely say if you're looking for a place that gives you more bang for your buck, this is the place to go! read more

This is a fairly new poke spot in the OC. It's located in a great strip mall filled with a variety of food places, and lately the line for Poke Dot has been out the door. Get here early - if you come at Noon be prepared to wait, although it is worth the wait. The great thing about the location is that if you have friends or coworkers who aren't raw fish fans, you can all go to lunch and everyone has an option. I've tried numerous poke spots in the OC and this ranks second behind Pokinometry (I just don't think it gets any better than them)! What I love: they have some unique options - cilantro added to your bowl, and jalapeño and tempura flakes as toppings. They also have a cilantro twist sauce which is really tasty, although I prefer the spicy mayo. The fish is always fresh, and they use a good spring mix for the salad base. My only complaint - the fish is cut into cubes that are too large, or in my opinion larger than the needed for poke. Besides that one gripe, I love Poke Dot! read more

YES. SO MUCH YES. I was browsing through Yelp and happened to find this new spot located in IRVINE! They are located in the corner just next door to Jersey Mike's. Usually, I have to trek all the way to Newport for Bear Flag or Whole Foods for an eh bowl. Poke Dot is located in the center right next door to the airport. They definitely cater to the corporate crowd, so beware if you're coming for lunch. The location is small, but the decor is modern and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. When you arrive, you'll pick one of 3 sizes: Small, Regular or Large. Each corresponds to how many "scoops" you'll get. Not to worry, you get unlimited base/toppings/mix-ins/seasonings as you'd like... The scoops refer to the amount of protein you'll get. I went with the Regular with brown rice/salad mix and got ALL the toppings as well as 2 scoops of salmon and 1 of shrimp. To top it off, I got the spicy mayo and a couple of sprinkles of sesame and ginger. The fish was pretty fresh, so the bowl was delicious. My only gripe was that the spicy mayo lacked in flavor. I was able to grab some soy sauce/sriracha and flavor it up though. The service was decent, but definitely needs some work. While I was there, the two staff members seemed really frazzled and had a tough time working with large crowds. My kid loves this place after gymnastics practice ends at 8pm on Friday. We came to get her usual medium with tuna salmon cucumbers crab meat ponzu sauce. Sadly seeing three staff behind the counter and being used to the restaurant closing at 8:30 we were quite surprised when she tried to open door to see locked and thought other door would be open but to no avail. Poke Dot is good! The yelpers have this one right. The portions are generous and the fish is fresh. What more can you ask for? The sauces are pretty standard wherever you go. I got the yellow tail and tuna with half brown rice and half salad as a base topped with spicy mayo. It would have been a lot tastier had the weather been warmer or if I didn't have to wait in the long line. I guess lines are inevitable for good food. Getting there early helped a little but I think there were several that had the same idea in mind. Great poke bowls, definitely better than other places I've been to. First of all, the employees were super nice and seemed happy to be working there; the restaurant itself is very clean. The fish was really good, I had salmon and tuna. Exactly the texture and flavor of good quality fish. I got half white rice and half chips. The chips are tortilla chips (not fried wanton skins which I have seen at other places) but the saltiness of the chips actually went really well with the fish and spicy mayo. I like how you don't have to pay extra for the "good" toppings like crab and avocado. I got a regular sized bowl (3 scoops of fish) and I was very full. I've been to other poke places that didn't give me enough food but Poke Dot made me feel like I got a good bang for my buck. The only thing I would have liked to see differently is the flavor of the white rice. I was hoping that the rice would have that vinegar-y flavor that traditional sushi rice has but it was plain sticky rice (I flavored it up with their awesome cilantro sauce). This might be my favorite poke place, anywhere. It has a wide variety of great toppings and proteins, and more importantly, you get so much food for a good price. The regular size bowl is about $9, but it's huge and you get 3 different proteins. Also, edamame is a topping and not a protein, which is always a plus. I came here on a weekday for dinner around 5:30, and there was no wait, which was awesome. The employees were polite and answered the questions I had about different toppings and sauces, and they gave some recommendations. Like I mentioned before, they gave me a ton of food, and it all tasted fresh and delicious. If you're into sushi burritos and whatnot, there are probably better places for that. But I like the bowls (I think they're more food anyway), so this is an awesome spot and I'll definitely be back. read more
