i was craving for a quick maki rolls so I decided to try this place out. The inside of the place was quite nice, clean, and inviting, though it was nearly empty whej i was there. I found out that the owners/shef were korean when they were talking to one of the customer. their selection of fish for the sushi was small, not alot of options, but they have the basic americanize roll like the lion king and stuff. i ordered a hamachi roll (6.50), spicy tuna (5.50), and a avocado roll (3.95). Since they didn't have the classic hot green tea, i end up with a jasmin milk tea. it was one of those sweet milk tea kind of place. i asked for 25% sugar only, and it wasn't too bad. the hamachi roll was not like the mince fish with onion like i was hopping for, but instead, it was a chunky piece of fish with avocado. Not what i wanted, but the fish was soft, tasty, and it's just melt in your mouth. the spicy tuna was minced fish with cucumber, it was good. avocado roll was good too. the only thing that i didn't really like was their soy sauce, it was salty like any soy sauce, but just bland and boring tasting, lack the citricy fermentation of a good soy sauce. over all it was a good meal, but at 21 dollars for the amount, and variety, I would rather go to a buffet or a real sushi place, thus not coming back. read more

This has been our GoTo Poke place for lunch for abut 5 years. Still excellent, and lots of sauce options. The toppings have gotten a little slimmer: no more mango, limited avocado, $1 extra for tobiko ,and a couple other things...but still enough to make us happy. I guess the cost of fish has gone up with inflation. With tax the regular 3 scoop poke bowl is $17.50. luckily for me there is just enough for 2 light meals. I first discovered Poke Xpress through DoorDash. I was feeling particularly lazy to drive out and get Poke so I decided to have it delivered. The price on DoorDash of course was a little higher than what you'd pay for in store, due to the service fee. But nonetheless the food was delicious! I customized my bowl with my standard go to and was happy they offered mango as a topping. Their bowls were packed, so you know you aren't getting ripped off for lack of content. Bonus points, because they also sell sushi rolls and boba. I also visited the store front and was even more satisfied with their service and food. The servers take the time to explain each of the toppings instead of assuming we can read minds. You can tell they pride themselves in offering both quality service and food. So a little discovery has led Poke Xpress to be in my top 3 favorite poke places in the South Bay. I've been meaning to give this restaurant a try, and little did I know, it was located where an old favorite of mine used to be! My cousin visiting from Missouri absolutely adored previous ownership, so it was a bit of a surprise for sure. When we walked in, we noticed there was a very Hawaiian vibe, surf boards lining the walls, and very exciting bright warm colors all throughout the restaurant. There is a lot of comfortable seating, dominos for customers to enjoy while waiting, and overall just a comfortable place to enjoy! I normally don't order actual iced tea with bobba, but it was the first time I gave it a chance, and I ordered the Peach tea with normal bobba. For the heat of the day, it was refreshing and cool, but the amount of sugar and intensity of it wasn't in my control, otherwise I would've preferred it more bitter. The staff was welcoming and didn't mind we took our time reviewing the menu, there are restrooms there for single customer use, but no gender neutral restrooms. This location is the nearest bobba shop to me, and it tasted very good for sure so I will definitely support in the future. :) however, I wish they had a few more options or the ability to control the sugar and ice levels as previous ownership had. The cashier was super friendly and welcomed us, and was very patient when we had our questions about the menu. They have few options here but from the two drinks I tried in the same day, they do a great job at what they do offer. I'm more a slushie person since milk does upset my stomach, but they opened my eyes to plain peach tea ! It reminded me of an Arizona feel both in taste and sweetness. Id suggest getting the salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. They also have spicy shrimp, which I also think some places dont have. All the other ingredients tasted great and fresh. Sauces were good too. I particularly like the wasabi mayo. Portions are comparable to other spots. One main difference is that for the base they also offer these thin noodles, which I thought were really great. I got a rice/noodle base and thought itd be too much carbs but it turned out really good. I usually get rice/greens. There's a pretty big selection of sauces and possible combinations. I also really like all the different vegetables and toppings they offer. Corn and tofu? Yes please! You know the saying when one door closes, another one opens? Well, nothing would be more fitting to describe the grand opening of Poke Xpress. Taking over the spot of Aiyah T-House, a boba place that the hubby and I were actually quite fond of, this new poke house hopes to attract more customers in a plaza that doesn't have as much foot-traffic as most. While the location isn't ideal, we were pleasantly surprised to find quite a number of customers inside on a rainy and windy Friday night. The place itself is certainly brighter than its predecessor and gives off a more modern feel with its colorful orange walls. The poke menu is clear and easy to read while the bar of selections is neat. I do, however, wish that they labeled each food item which would make for easier communication when selecting. There were three employees manning the counter, more than enough people to help keep the line moving. Their countenances were friendly and they also had good, clean practices in terms of handling the raw fish and making sure not to confuse people's orders. Normally, I'm the only one who gets a poke bowl, but this time around, the hubby decided to get one himself, passing on the raw fish and selecting the cooked shrimp instead. With a combination of sushi rice and brown rice, he constructed a bowl of edamame, corn, crab salad, and creamy sauce while I got a bowl of brown rice with spicy tuna, yellow tail, salmon, edamame, seaweed salad, corn, mango pieces, and crab salad, all drenched in a spicy miso and ponzu sauce. Because it was their grand opening, we were given two packed containers of complimentary miso soup that was still warm to the touch. Just by appearance, I knew the poke was going to taste good and I'm happy to say that I was right. Each bowl was PACKED with food, so much so, that the hubby and I actually couldn't finish the entire thing. The portions were humongous! We also loved how well-mixed everything was. The sauces coated every piece and the toppings were strewn throughout so that each bite had a little bit of everything. The hubby really enjoyed the creaminess of the shrimp while I enjoyed the freshness of the fish, especially the yellow tail. The seaweed salad added a nice touch of salty goodness while the crab salad and mango bits were refreshing. The one minor complaint we have is that the miso soup wasn't as smooth as we would expect, tasting a little more powdery than we were used to even when we stirred the soup around. Prices are more than reasonable for the gigantic portions and we had only ordered the regular size. Can you imagine how much food you're going to get for the larger options? That'll keep you fed for days. Now here's the real kicker: Aiyah T-House is still there! Even though it is under different management and the drink selection isn't nearly as big as before, if you're anything like us who had missed those little panda cups, it was nice to see that the boba was still around. Although, the hubby was a little disappointed that they didn't offer egg pudding as one of their toppings since he believed Aiyah had the best egg pudding ever. Because we didn't have the stomach room to order boba, we left without trying the drinks, but that's just another reason, on top of many, for us to come back. I came here this week for lunch and was very impressed with the ingredient offerings as well as the friendliness of the staff. As is standard for other Poke places, they have the options of regular bowls (three scoops) or large (four scoops) and the prices were comparable to other poke bars. However, the options offered free are generous - large scoop of seaweed salad, crabmeat, and avocado were all included with one bowl! The quality of everything was fresh and tasty with great sauce options as well. The restaurant itself has decent seating for a small poke bar, with 4-5 large round tables that seat between 4-6 people apiece. In addition, the staff there were very accommodating, friendly, and more than willing to give suggestions (when asked) for the best sauce-combos. Another huge plus with the place is that they seem to appreciate special deals for their patrons. As part of their grand opening deals, they gave a complementary miso soup and tea with the bowl! I also got a text later that week (they had a Five Star system, so you can get points for inputting your phone number) and if I return within the next few weeks, I can get 20% off my next purchase. We were the only ones in the shop at 7:30 on a Tuesday evening. This worked out nicely since we didn't feel rushed in the line and had plenty of seating to choose from. To note, there are about six tables and a bar counter. Each of the tables has room for roughly four seats per. When we went in, their menu did not reflect what they had available. They had 8 proteins to choose from (spicy tuna, ahi tuna, yellow tail, spicy salmon, salmon, shrimp, scallops, and tilapia). They had a lot of sauces and toppings to choose from, too, and they are not labeled. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they took time to tell us what everything was when we pointed to it. This shop felt family owned, like a mom and pop's shop. I can feel they are trying and I just liked that a lot. Their service was quick and easy. On top of our order, we got a complimentary miso soup which was super nice about them. Pricing was decent, like many other poke shops. My sister liked this shop because their poke didn't give her a stomach ache or weird feelings after eating it. I'm sorry to leave such a poor review, but the food I've received today was terrible. I got a large poke bowl(3 scoops salmon/1scoop tuna), a California roll, a salmon avacado roll, and a Thai milk tea with boba. When I opened my saw my poke bowl, it seemed like the poke bowl had only tuna based on the color of the fish(see picture). I didn't mind it too much and kept eating. When I opened and saw my salmon and avocado roll, I noticed that the salmon was also similar color to the tuna or (also pictured). Since this was my first time ordering, I thought maybe they just had this soaked some sort of sauce or this was smoked salmon instead of raw. I was wrong. I was soooo wrong. I'm currently in the bathroom having the worst time. I've gone through the pictures on yelp, and it does seem like this place has served salmon that looks like salmon. This was not one of those days. To be honest, I'm not a huge Poke enthusiast or anything, but even I can tell the difference between portion sizes here and other similar joints. Your base layer options include sushi rice, brown rice, greens, and noodles. They have a variety of sauce options that you can mix and match to your liking. If you like spice, I recommend going with the fire sauce + unagi sauce combo. Toppings were always super fresh, including cut mangos, jalapeños, and masago (fish eggs). They even have hot cheeto crumbs if you're into that. The people working here are very friendly and have always greeted us with smiles and excellent service. I would highly recommend poke express anyone wanting quality poke with some unique topping options. Poke has become my once or twice a week lunch time staple. I've tried several options in the North San Jose/ Milpitas area, but Poke Express is the one where I consistently have returned. The friend staff and quality of food make it great choice. Their Poke bowls stand out as the protein quality, portion size, and topping creativity is above the rest. There are only a few fish types offered, but I would much prefer top quality over an abundance of mediocre options. The wall are decorated with various Hawaiian themed art and ornaments. Although the shop is fairly compact, they have a nice assortment of dine-in seat with both standing height counters and chair height tables. An assortment of board games are placed on the right wall. It's in a cramped plaza, but there's a decent amount of seats inside and free WiFi. - Thai Milk Tea with Boba (less sweet) Thai tea itself was okay, very creamy -- nothing stood out about it, but the boba texture was all over the place. Some pieces were mushy, while others seemed like they were left out for a while since they had the "tough" center. Wouldn't return just for their boba. - Large Poke Bowl ($12.95) Pretty solid quality, tastier than its Milpitas competitors (Poke Supreme and Poki Run), but I still prefer Poke House. I got 3 scoops salmon, 1 scoop spicy tilapia, mixed greens, cucumber, onion, spicy crab meat, green onion, edamame, jalapenos, house spicy sauce, and the miso sauce. I originally only wanted the house fire sauce, but the lady was slightly shook and insisted it was very spicy and the miso was great so I should try it; I didn't like it: too sweet.
