I ordered take out. They are so tasty. I felt so good after a bad day!!! It's the definition of soul and comfort food. People here are quick and efficient. The place has two parts, on for dining in and one for taking out. What a great idea. The chicken is heavily seasoned. The crispy skin is dark. You can taste so many spices. I will definitely come back again when I feel bad after a hard breakup. lol

I finally made it out to El Pollo Campero on Mission & 24th, and let me just say--it was worth it. I ordered the 3-piece fried chicken meal and subbed the thigh for a breast--good call on that one. The chicken was seasoned really well, crispy on the outside, juicy and fresh on the inside. No doubt it was made fresh--not that dry fast food stuff. The only thing I regret? Not asking for sauce--next time I'm definitely trying it with their signature sauces. For my sides, I got mac & cheese and rice. The mac was creamy and satisfying, but that rice stole the show--it had this flavor that reminded me of the masa used in tamales. Rich, soft, and comforting. They also gave me a small bun that reminded me of a Hawaiian sweet roll--nice little touch. Now the horchata? Man, it surprised me. Yeah, it had that classic cinnamon flavor, but it also had a taste that reminded me of Nestle chocolate milk with the bunny on it--sweet, creamy, nostalgic, and really good. When I got there, the place was quiet--only a couple of people inside eating. A few of the staff were chilling and eating together, which gave it a relaxed, casual vibe. But after about 20-30 minutes, families started rolling in, and you could tell this is a family-friendly spot with good energy. The restaurant was clean, the staff was nice, and the whole place just felt fresh and welcoming. It's the kind of spot where you can take your time, enjoy your food, and feel like you're getting something better than the usual chain experience. If you're in the Mission District and craving fried chicken that actually hits, El Pollo Campero is definitely the move.

Wanted to find a good fried chicken lunch spot with my co-workers and this spot popped up on Yelp. We made the short trek to the Mission and gave it a shot. The inside is in contrast to the gritty outside neighborhood. It's bright and cheery inside. We were seated right away by a friendly server who took our orders at the table. We all ordered the 3-piece fried combo. I chose Cole slaw and fries for my sides. Food came out fairly quickly. The chicken was hot and crispy. There was a good amount of spice as well. The Cole slaw was a little on the sweet side. Everyone enjoyed their chicken. Not very expensive for a good lunch. This was a nice spot and we'll be back!

Okay so I've had Pollo Campero all over Central America and that's what im comparing it to. The wait wasn't too bad at about 15 mins during lunch rush on a Saturday but their system on getting on the waitlist is horrible. A piece of paper on a ledge and no pen, I had to ask a random person if they had one so I could write my name down. The prices were pretty steep for what we got. The side of yuca was about 4 pieces of yuca and they were dry. The chicken itself was tasty but the pieces were also very small and super greasy. It didn't have that original flavor and crunch I've had in Central America. The sauce on the side wasn't that good either, it doesn't add anything to the dish so I didn't even use it, I used ketchup instead. Service was fine, they came and grabbed our order pretty fast even though they were busy and had a lot of other tables to attend to. The restaurant feels very crowded and tables are very close together but other than that it was clean.

Oops! Forgot to snap a picture of the bowl-- it looked so good we just dug right in!** My husband and I shared the Campero Bowl, and it was more than enough for both of us. The service was impeccable, the place was clean, and the music added a nice touch to the atmosphere. We weren't treated like it was just another fast food spot--everything felt a step above. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!

Not the place you want to go to if you like chicken breast.... We stopped by to get lucky just now. My husband and I waited in line for 15min to not get serviced. What a waste of time My husband ordered four chicken breast, well I decided that since we made the drive from San Mateo (35min) I would order two extra pieces to bring to my parents. Well apparently Eddie thinks that's too many pieces of chicken breast?? Do you not want to make a sale? I mean $22 for four pieces sounded ridiculous but we wanted my parents to have some... I wonder if Eddie wanted them for himself or why selling six breast to two people is too many. Not only did he refuse to sell them to us he started being rude when we questioned his refusal.... Needless to say we will not be coming back here again! Before going to this place you should think about is it really worth it??? You will be refused certain chicken pieces Oh and by the way the places was super dirty, I would like a response from the manager owner or whoever is in charge, I want to know if this was Eddie's rule or someone else's

Fried chicken... forgot to take a pic of the lime chicken which was slightly delayed... delicious!

Visited this place last Friday and was very impressed with their chicken! We ordered the 8 piece and split had with fried chicken and the other half was the lime chicken. Both very good and juicy. As sides we had the beans and fried plantains. The restaurant is very clean and you sit to order. Our waitress was super nice and attentive, I'll definitely go back!

They were promoting the place at the Carnaval street fair with a a guy in a chicken suit so i decided to give it a try. The long & the short of it is I wish the chicken was better. Its sit down not fast food.

This time we were a party of 4 and were celebrating a birthday which they acknowledged and thoughtfully wished happy birthday to our celebrated guest. This time I ordered the ceviche limeño, which was a mix of shrimp, white fish, octopus and calamari served with crunchy corn, soft corn and sweet potato marinated in a delicious sauce with a hint of spice (the base tasted similar to leche de Tigre) Other guests in my party ordered the whole roasted cauliflower with eggplant puree, and the rice with shrimp. Both were delicious. I tried two new alcohol-free drinks: guayaba healer (guava, lime and tajin) and the red October. Both were tasty, however for non alcoholic drinks $12 is a little steep, particularly for the red October which is served in a fluted cup and has a lot less volume than the other non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered two desserts, both were excellent: the suspiro loco with cotton candy and Dulce de leche, strawberries and crumbled graham cracker-like cookies, was crazy and fun, yet well balanced. The second dessert was the tapioca tropical, which is a tapioca pudding with toasted coconut, raspberry and ice cream, which was not too sweet and quite delicious. We got a complimentary coconut tres leches for the birthday guest, which was also delectable. As for the service, it was definitely improved compared to last time, yet not seamless. We were sitting inside this time and had a bigger party. Our waitress was very friendly, however one of the items we ordered never arrived and I had to point it out to them when the check arrived. She apologized and they took it off right away. One of the hosts came to check in on us a couple of times throughout the meal which was much appreciated. Our water glasses were kept full, however it still seems they are understaffed. If I could give half stars they would get 3 1/2 but since the food has been consistently good I guess 4 starts will do for now.

Everything we had here was surprisingly delicious. We had the Paella Mixta. Normally when we have Spanish paella I'm dissapointed by the scarcity of seafood and the chewiness of undercooked rice, but OMG this paella was delicious. The rice was so flavorful and addictive and there was an endless amount of juicy chicken, tender fish, shrimp, calamari, mussels . We're normally done scavenging for the good stuff in a minute between the four of us , but we even had leftovers tonight which was awesome. We also really enjoyed the plantain appetizer, the plantains were cooked, so tender and sweet, but also had these nice crisp edges. Also loved the black bean puree it came with. Also ordered the cheese quesadillas which were awesome. The cheese tasted so good, I assume it was Oaxacan cheese, it didn't taste like a plain mozzarella quesadilla Warm spinach salad was surprisingly tasty as well ! Comes with a light creamy dressing that wasn't overpowering, and well flavored by the mushrooms. I even had them removed the bacon and it was still a very tasty dish. Enjoyed our wine and beer, service was good !

With no planning, we showed up at Pacifico, which was just a couple blocks from our concert. The restaurant was a little weird - it sits within the lobby of the SF Jazz recital hall, and all the signs are for "B-Side". It's a little unclear to me still whether the restaurant is called B-Side or Pacifico, but the waiter told us that Pacifico is new, with a new chef and new menu. The inspirations are Colombia, Peru, and California cooking, which was very appealing to us. We ordered two items off the specials menu (Tuna Tostada and Short Rib) and one from the permanent menu (Hearts of Palm Ceviche). The Tuna Tostada was both of our favorite. It was light, refreshing, and there were these little pops of flavor from burnt, deeply fried jalapeños. The Hearts of Palm ceviche was interesting and unique (a completely vegetarian dish, but made in the style of ceviche and with leche de tigre). Ultimately, it was more interesting than appetizing. Finally, the Short Rib was well cooked, but unfortunately just way too sweet for our palate.
