Finally gave it a try and was pleased with crispy chicken. Ordered via drive thru and Ana was friendly to make recommendation on plantains, beans and fries. For dipping sauces I had bbq and buffalo. Other restaurants in this chain use a different chicken recipe and offer salsa. I'm South Gate and other Los Angeles locations the chicken is so delicious and flavorful that I drive to Los Angeles. Unfortunately the Santa Ana location chicken is not noteworthy. In a city where nearly everyone is Mexican, the place offers no salsa other than something in a bottle. BOMB! Oh my goodness do I love fried chicken but you know what- I prefer their grilled. You pretty much won't ever catch me saying that anywhere else. Came on a Friday 3 days after grand opening and EL OH EL, line was out the door and drive through was out into the street. Stuck my ground and waited and came home so happy. Yes, food absolutely bring me joy . Ordered 2 Campero chicken salads, 2 grilled breasts, 2 fried, 1 Camperitos meal and fries. They were out of plantains and yuca fries so I'll be going back soon for those. Got the White Balsamic vinaigrette for the salads and it was so good!! We couldn't finish our chicken breasts so the next day I warmed them in the air fryer and holy cow they held up perfectly and were SO GOOD and hearty. They definitely don't skimp on food here and the staff is efficient and nice and every single employee is bilingual, amazing. Get this for wonderful customer service- I called like a weirdo to the corporate line to see when they were opening because we were curious and couldn't find the info and within a matter of 1.5 hours a gentleman named Francisco I believe called me back to let me know the soft opening for friends and family and the hard opening for the public. When we arrived to the drive thru I was basically rushed through my order. I am not familiar with the menu so I was looking at it to see if anything caught my eye. I ordered the empanada trio and before I could even ask for a moment the woman at the register just gave me my total. As I was pulling up to the window she gave me my total before I had made a full stop. I paid and she proceeded to tell me to go park and wait for my order. I waited for a while and when she brought my order she had the audacity to tap the bag to my window. It was a light tap but that was completely disrespectful. I rolled down the window and all she said was, "Here" and then walked away. I was in shock of how terrible her customer service was. Unfortunately I did not get her name nor did she even offer a receipt. The food is ok. I would probably go back because it's different than what is around that area but after today's visit and abismal customer service I will not return. Sure, the employees don't care but why the hell are they in customer service if they are so unpleasant. Please do something about retraining employees because this is unacceptable. WOW!! Some of the best chicken we've had in a LONG time, perhaps EVER. Their fried chicken is AMAZING, and their grilled chicken is ALSO amazing!! But, their beans. . OMG. . delicious AF!! Seriously, the best beans I've ever had from any restaurant EVER. Their rice is great, too. Oh, the empanadas. . WOW, WOW, WOW!! And, can't forget the flan, it was a real treat. The restaurant itself is nice and clean with very friendly staff. The restroom was clean, too, which is always a good sign. It means they care. We will be returning very soon. read more

My co-worker and I received a flyer in the mail and decided to try a new place. We really didn't care for the food. I had the 2 piece chicken. It was a little burned and very dry. Tasteless. Drove 53 mins just for pollo campero. Before this location, we would drive over an hour to LA. The chicken is so flavorful and crispy. What we loved the most are the yucca fries. Literally the best. Idk where else to get them. I would definitely drive over an hour just for pollo campero. I was kind of surprised about the price because it's been a while since we last got a family meal but I guess it's reasonable.. the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because they were out of wings and rice. I wanted the mixed 12 piece meal but they could only give me thigh and leg. I would have waited but the way they made it seem, it was impossible since it would take a while. I was also wondering how a place can run out of rice. We went during lunch time on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy. I also had to go inside from the drive through since my order was wrong but food was good. I am speechless when it comes to this new chicken spot. 110% better than pollo loco. The flavor of the chicken was amazing. I really liked the fact that they were fast and they packed my chicken correctly. By this I mean white meat in one and brown meat in another. Perfect for the kids. I've been meaning to try this place since they opened so I did. What a mistake. Before you think I'm racist, I am half Mexican half Portuguese but sadly I barely speak Spanish. With that being said, I was greeted in Spanish and when I replied in English the girl at the register looked at me kinda weird. When they called my name when my order was ready the lady repeated what I ordered in Spanish. Then when I said "what" she gave me a confused look and walked away. Last I looked I was still in the USA but felt like I was elsewhere. Now on to the food. They are about 10 bucks more than KFC. I ordered a 12 piece meal with mashed potatoes and coleslaw 48 bucks with tax. Not on piece of white meat in my order. The chicken was not very good at all. The coleslaw completely sucked. The worst I ever had. And the mashed potatoes tasted like they were straight out of the box. Truly a huge disappointment because I'm not a huge fan of KFC either but would rather eat at KFC any day. Love their Fried Chicken (dark meat.) It rivals my fave of all, Popeye's Chicken which is a block away. This morning I went through the drive-through and ordered 12 pieces of Fried Chicken (dark meat) and wanted to try the Grilled Chicken, so I ordered 12 pieces dark meat, with an order of family fries. Well I got home and found out they gave me 24 pieces of grilled chicken, no fried chicken. I looked at the reciept and saw the fried chicken order was there. My wife and I tried the grilled chicken, and I didn't like it. It was too heavily seasoned and you couldn't taste the chicken. I will never order that again. Don't get me wrong, I like the big man-sized chicken pieces, the freshly fried french fries and the way they handled the mistake..............I called and the supervisor apologized and told me to come back and she would give me the Fried Chicken at no cost, cool. She didn't even want to see the receipt. I will be going back again, especially now that they're building a new one a few blocks away from the house, this one is about 6 miles away. read more
