After watching this place for awhile skeptical of how good fast Peruvian could be, I gave in and decided to check it out. It was perfect!! for less than $6 I got rice, rolls, soup, salad, two big cups of aji and deliciously seasoned chicken. I excitedly told my sister about it and she informed me that this place is the same owner as the lawndale El Pollo Inka. That makes sense, when I dug in my big to go bag later I found utensils/napkin wrapped with an El Pollo Inka label, and it tastes exactly the same. I won't repeat other reviews covering the awesome prices, limited meat selection, etc. But if you are like me and have thought on innumerable occasions how badly you wanted Peruvian food from a drive thru, then this is the place for you. Holy cow this place is sloooooow! "Express" couldn't be any bigger of a false advertisement. The food is good and staff is friendly, and I would love to come back, but I avoid this place 5 out of 6 times solely because I know I'll need at least 30 extra minutes. That may seem a bit caddy, but when you only have 30 minutes for lunch, it becomes an impossibility to even order. There's a serious disconnect between the food and business execution. I'm never disappointed strictly from a food standpoint. The quality is very good and so are the flavors. However, the wait is inexcusable, especially for an establishment with "Express" in the name. I've been during peak hours when there's a line out the wazoo inside and outside in the drive thru, and during off hours when there's maybe one or two cars outside and 2 or 3 people inside... in either case, the story is always the same, slow slow sloooooooow. I'm sorry, but I don't buy "making food to order" as an excuse. This isn't a formal dine-in only restaurant, it's (supposed to be) fast food. And, I'm sorry, but on those days when I'm in a rush, Pollo Inka isn't even on my radar. To be clear, I'm not at all angry. In fact, it's more that I'm genuinely bummed I can't enjoy the food more often because the time investment is so atrocious. I love this place! Every time I fly out of LAX I make sure to make a stop here. The food is delicious and cheap for what you get. I usually get the lomo saltado and the Inca cola makes it even better! I have never eaten Peruvian food and damn...this place is the bomb! I love it!! The number 2 Chicken and the green sauce it comes with--words cannot describe how good this food is! Although, true to some people's reviews--the inside and outside do not look that great and it is advised you just take it to go and eat it at home. Use to go to the location on Wilshire years ago and then closed. Found this one by accident and just had to eat there. The food was just as good and prices are great. Had there famous rotisserie chicken and cilantro rice. Was thinking of getting the cilantro soup and to my surprise the soup came with the meal. Not really a desert person but if there's something on the menu with pumpkin you've got me. Tried the picarones. There like fresh pumpkin donuts with a Peruvian dark syrup. Inka Express is my go to place when I don't want to wait for a table at El Pollo Inka. One of my top 3 restaurants of all time (regardless of price)...What can I say, I am attached to this place...I've even eaten here when the county awarded them the prestigious "B" rating, and an 80% at that! Sometimes the food even tastes better than EPI as its not as rushed of an environment. One little tidbit is that the floors are eternally slippery...don't know what that is, but the floors were even slippery back in the 90's when it was a KFC. If you are a first time visitor, get the Lomo Saltado and an Inka Cola to drink...you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Worst customer service ever!! Went through the Drive Thru and was literally in line waiting for 30 minutes! Wtf?! In that case, I would have saved my gas and gone inside while waiting for them to get the food ready. The cashier took my payment and then I saw her crumple my receipt and throw it away. I got the 1/4 chicken with cilantro rice and platanos. I've had better rotisserie chicken, this one was on the dryer side. The cilantro rice is amazing, salty, and wonderfly seasoned. I could eat that stuff all by itself and be happy. The platanos weren't my favorite, very thickly cut, and squishy- I prefer mine to have a crispy exterior. However the cilantro soup they include with the meal was wonderful, and would be the best soup to have when you're having a sick day. I did brave the drive through, but I was the only one in it at the time, and it took between 5-10 minutes, so not too bad (although a line of 3 more cars formed behind me as I waited). A generous 4 stars for what is touted as fast food Peruvian place. Peruvian food is not the type of cuisine that is best suited for a fast food type of place. So I was hesitant to enter Pollo Inka Express drive thru. Yet I did and I proceeded to wait for some time to finally get my food. The 4 stars goes to the food itself and how my favorite Peruvian dish, Lomo Saltado, was just as good here as it is at other Peruvian restaurants. Lomo Saltado is a beef dish mixed with fajita veggies, rice, and fries. The green aji sauce is clutch. I doused my whole dish with it. The plantains were okay. A bit too mushy and charred for my taste. My only other suggestion is it is probably quicker to call your order in, order online, or go inside as opposed to drive thru. read more

Taste and flavor are on point with traditional Peruvian cuisine. Downfall is that there are limited items since it's express version of their full restaurant but would recommend for a quick lunch or dinner. I had a chicken plate that comes with soup. The cilantro soup is hearty and delicious. Also, chicken was cooked perfectly, tasted amazing, came with rice, beans and a bread roll. Very filling and very affordable for those on a budget. I used to like this place and made it a regular for takeout on busy evenings. A solid 4 would have been my review (it gets -1 for the ridiculously long drive through line - the service is super slow) however I didnt mind the wait for the delicious food I knew I would be having.I don't know if management has changed or the cooks but I may not be returning.Today's food was the blandest I have ever tasted. I ordered a saltado de vegetales, chaufa de vegetales, and a tallarine saltado de vegetales. Normally I would order tallarine verde but they no longer carry it. Remember the part in Saving Private Ryan where they actually found Private Ryan? That's how I felt the first time I tried the "Chaufa (Chicken Fried Rice)" at Inka Express. Pure GOLD! Clearly, they use a wok and cook the dish over a crazy high flame! I actually met the little old lady who makes the Chaufa. I almost had her sign my plate! The Saltado de Pollo and chicken dishes are all damn near amazing as well. If I could make a recommendation, it would be the lack of seafood as well as the Taradin Verde. I would really like to see seafood added to their menu. I bet they could make magic with a little pescado! My complaint with the Taradin Verde is the consistency. I find it kind of watery. Further more, in Peru the dish is served along side pollo apanado (breaded chicken steak.) At Inka Express, they serve it along side pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken.) Kind of weak if you ask me. None the less, Becky and the staff are awesome. I really appreciate how they serve Inca Cola and Chicha Morada (Peruvian Punch.) The point of calling it in is to quickly pick it up via drive thru. Well it defeated the purpose because the drive thru line is ridiculous and you get stuck in a line because ppl are placing their order through the intercom. N guess what?!?! You're waiting an extra 15-30 minutes in line. So your online order is just sitting there gettin cold. Bs. My plate of choice is the Saltado de pollo. When this place opened the food tasted great, but it seems like every time I go back, it gets worse. The previous time my mom went, she had ordered the Saltado de pollo and the chicken was way undercooked (It was still pink and chewy). She asked to speak with the "manager" about the situation. I dont know if she was actually the manager because she was hesitant to replace her plate. Bad customer service on her part... Today, I gave it another chance and ordered the same plate. Turns out the chicken needed to be cooked a little more since it was still pretty chewy, but not as undercooked as the previous time. And it was way more oily than when they began their business at this location. Someone needs to make sure the cook is cooking the food properly and thoroughly. Glad I found this place, Peruvian food with a drive thru. Ordered the #4 combo with Inka Cola for only $6.50 total. There are not a lot of items to choose from since this is a fast food restaurant. I got lucky arriving when I did because after placing my order a crowd showed up. My food was really good and I will go back to try the other items on the menu. Ignore the yelpers who gave this place low stars, they must of just been having a bad day. Most people say Peruvian restaurants have rude wait staff, but this is also the way it is Lima Peru. The Lomo Sandwich was way better than i expected. To top it off the Salchipapas just made my night. I have never tried them but they were amazing. Definitely recommend this place. It was a late night drive thru for us since we had the munchies. The only thing is that they ran out of chicken. Maybe because it was close to closing time. The staff was very nice though.
