You cant call a place fast food if the drive through takes 15 to 20 minute in line. Thats how long food takes to be made a real restayrsny. You have to work on the speed of the drive thru. I've long been a fan of Pollo Tropical restaurants...Depending on what you order, their food is generally served quickly, is reasonably priced and healthy, as it's as basic as it gets - chicken or other meats off the grill with simple sides like corn on the cob, rice and beans or balsamic tomatoes. Certainly it's much more healthy than fast food burgers! That said, I've come to this Pollo Tropical location twice - The first was a few months ago at around 9:30 or 10 on a weeknight, and they were OUT OF CHICKEN! Yes, a place called Pollo Tropical was out of "pollo"! We returned again last night at around 8:30 and again, we got to the counter, ordered our meals and were told they had no chicken available, and that it'd be a 20 minute wait, at minimum. I've never had this occur before at any of their other restaurants, but so far, this particular Pollo Tropical has struck out twice. Not good! read more

When it comes to fast food, Pollo Tropical is one of my faves, however this branch is the worst. Expect for them to run out of food, constantly be short staffed, and your wait time to be more than 30 minutes. The first time, we walked in to the restaurant thinking it would be faster than the drive through, which always has 10 cars waiting. We were wrong. We ordered and then had to join a group of about 20 other disgruntled people waiting for their food. Took about 30 minutes! The second time, we decided to give the drive through a try - BIG mistake. Waited in line for 40 minutes and the problem is that once you're in the line you can't get out because it's only a one-lane narrow driveway. We were stuck waiting and waiting. I even had time to get out of the car and walk to the pet supermarket to buy dog food! By the time I got back to the car, my husband had barely moved! Ridiculous. read more

Hmm what is my rating? Well...AWESOME. This is fast food we're talking about here, people. i hate fast food, but i can get down with this place. It's flavorful (and not just because it's been doused in fatty sauces), it's filling (but not just empty calories), it's affordable and did i mention it's freakin good considering where the food is coming from. I am in LOVe with the guava bbq and def plan to recreate it at home. My only complaint is that the chicken is a little dry from being a bit overcooked, but having moved from VA, it seems like the whole hard-cooked chicken is the preferred style here (not to be sarcastic, but some people do prefer it that way). Anyhow, it's not like insanely overcooked, just not super juicy and tender like i would cook my own and like im used to finding at home. Overall, i recommend this place for sure. they're yucca is really good! Just beware that in the combo, the yucca comes boiled, so dont expect fried. But let me say, the have some really good boiled yucca. That garlic sauce on the other hand...not good at all. I love garlic and tons of it, but this stuff is a truckload of raw garlic and it just is not good. read more

Extremely disappointed. I ordered a chicken quesadilla wrap with grilled chicken. The chicken was fried, not grilled and on top it had 2 small pieces of chicken basically. This place is ridiculous and the people working here should all be replaced. The teller is rude and disrespectful and on top of this they do whatever they want on your order. I like it a lot. Always good food- made fresh and given with unlimited toppings. I love their salsa bar and every time I go, I think I become a little bit crazier, trying to grab some of everything. They offer so much variety and everything looks so good- that you could try something new every time and you probably wouldn't ever get bored. The service is nice though they could afford to learn better English. The food comes out pretty quick given that it's made when ordered. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable and it's always a bit busy with a variety of different people coming in to order. Everything is clean and stocked well. I'm from California and minus the fact this place is a bit bigger, it's almost an exact replica of our place called El Pollo Loco. I'm craving it right now. Another plus is that it's much healthier than most places and the chicken is white meat. Do try the plantains- they are heavenly. read more

Service was crap. The staff consist of 60+ year old grumpy old ladies. I went through the drive thru and ordered 1/4 chicken "dark". I clearly said "DARK" to make sure the laid putting in the order heard me. Of course I get my food, drive off to later realize that they gave me white meat. I head back to the restaurant go inside to be ignored at the front counter for 10min. Finally I wave down one of the abuelitas, and tell her that they got my order wrong. She scoffs me about ordering it wrong. I'm guessing she didn't stop to think the lady taking the order, could have gotten it wrong. I would like to take this moment and question the quality as well as it's presentation of Pollo Tropical's Mini Chicken Sliders, I ordered Cilantro Garlic Pollo via it's drive-thru window. When I arrived home I was shocked when I saw what they gave me.Looked nothing like in their promo photos "Where's the Beef, or chicken in this case!!" They gave me three burnt hard as rock suppose chicken nugget sliders with no garlic or cilantro NOTHING in a bun. It's horrible that they would take pride in this crap. This is a hit or miss depending on who's behind the counter that day. Food is good but half the time they don't have tostones or the pollo bites. Hey here's a thought if you run out of those two items because they're a big seller..... order more! I have ordered food here three times and each time it just gets worse. The first time i order from this location i ordered a tropi chop with corn when i looked, LITERALLY 8 little kernels of corn. The second time i went in to get food. i waited an hour for food that i had ordered 30 minutes before arriving. so i waited an hour and a half basically. The third and last time i ordered food from there i had ordered a platter, when i look the rice was the hard burnt part from the bottom of the pot and NO CHICKEN!! i payed for a whole platter that comes with rice, chicken, and tomatoes. How is that possible being we've been to multiple locations and it's the same story "oh we don't have any ribs". Who is responsible for the ordering of food? Because whoever it is should be fired. I have been to several Pollo Tropical restaurants in my life from Miami to San Antonio to Atlanta. The worst service ever. How is it that you do not have Pollo Bites or Coca Cola and it was only 11:35 am? On top of that we were in line at the drive thru well over 20-25 minutes. Our food was handed to us at around 12:05 pm. And to make matters worse, my friend asked for guacamole and what they gave her was black which means it was not fresh. Total dissapointment. The spicing is always consistently tasty, albeit a little on the salty side. Do a quarter-white with beans and rice and boiled yuca, and you have a guaranteed sleep-inducing lunch. The lines can get very long here, but they seem to do a good job of keeping it moving. Still, if lines frustrate you the way they do me, I'd advise coming for lunch a few minutes early. read more
