I drove by this place for over 4 years, and never took a chance. Today, I decided to give it a try. From the entrance, it looked a bit formal, as I entered, I was greeted by the owner, who was hospitable and friendly. Best way to describe the food, it's a hybrid between Mediterranean and Persian. I ordered a combo of chicken shish kabob and beef koobideh. Both kabob and koobideh were delicious and juicy. I have to admit that I only eat Persian food at Raffi's in Glendale and I never venture to try other places, because I never fail to be disappointed with pseudo Persian joints. So my wife has been on a pita kick the past few weeks and I noticed this place on yelp. We just finished a run in backbay and Pom and Olive is on the way home so we stopped in I get food to go. When I entered the establishment I was greeted by a nice gentlemen who took my order and offered r water while I waited for the food always a plus to me when restaurants do this for customers getting to go orders. I waited about 15 minutes for my order which as pita fries(yum), a beef shawarma sandwich(for the wife), and a Koobideh sandwich for myself which I didn't mind waiting because I knew that meant the food would be prepared fresh. A nice woman came out with my order who I think was the gentleman's wife. She was very friendly and said she hopes I enjoy the food. When we got home everything smelled so good my koobiddeh sandwich was amazing! The meat was perfectly cooked with the onions and spices I probably will get the koobiddeh again but as the entree. My wife really enjoyed the shawarma so much it was like the end credit scene from The Advengers and she ate it in 5 minutes heck she wants to go back tomorrow night. I really enjoyed the pita fries also it was like eating pita chips with a warm soft center and the smell brought me back to my high school days eating at Volcano Burger and Paul's Place in Los Alamitos which if you have ever eaten there it's a good thing. They don't even deserve one star. Went here to grab lunch during the work day and waited 50 minutes for the food to come, we ordered cucumber salads. We watched other parties come and go while we just sat there waiting and waiting. There were very few people in the restaurant so it made absolutely no sense. They did end up cutting the bill down somewhat but the damage was already done. The food was definitely not worth waiting for and the restaurant itself smelled like manure. read more

The food was great. Went for lunch today. Falafel was tasty and not overcooked like a lot of Mediterranean restaurants serve it here. My husband had beef shawarma and loved it too. Reasonably priced. I think the owners are renovating it bit by bit and soon the ambiance will be up to par with the food. In fact I wrapped up some of the falafel to bring home and let my daughter taste what good falafel is like because I don't think she's ever had good falafel. Will go there again. read more

Almost passed right by it because it's right next to the Travelodge, but so glad we made it in. The specialty drinks are really refreshing. The food is made from fresh ingredients and seasoned very well. Prices are super reasonable for the high quality of food. Ok- don't let the fact that this restaurant is connected to a Travelodge near the John Wayne Airport fool you. If you love Mediterranean food, and even if you're not sure you do, you WILL love this place. My husband and I are vegetarians and usually gravitate to the flavorful options in Mediterranean cuisine. But, I can honestly say this place is about as good as it gets for vegetarian options. The food is soooo delicious. The restaurant itself is cozy and comfortable inside and they play great tunes on the radio. The servers were attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. I believe the lady who took our orders and checked on us during dinner must've been an owner. She was so helpful and educated me on the different regions of Mediterranean food. Based on her description, this particular restaurant would be considered Eastern Mediterranean. My husband and I shared an app of Spiced Garlic Potatoes for only $6... OMG! Perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth potatoes and just the right amount of garlic. We chose the Cauliflower Shawarma Platter for me and the Falafel Platter for Hubby, each for just $9. There was SO much flavorful food- all so excellent that we couldn't leave anything behind. I have to say the nicest surprise was the Cauliflower Shawarma. The spices were to die for! Not hot-spicy, but such flavor that will put a big smile on your face- you won't be disappointed. All vegetarians must try this place. And, I'm sure non-vegetarians will enjoy the meat options just as much as we enjoyed our meals. Everyone will love the price, as well. We made a dinner reservation for a family celebration of 13 people. We went to the restaurant earlier in the day and spoke to the manager (owner?). She suggested a wonderful variety of food for our celebration. When people started showing up for dinner, there was already food on the table, and it just kept coming. Service was friendly and attentive. And the food was great. We had various chicken and beef dishes, along with pita/hummus and salad. Even the picky eater kids in our family ate their full. We wanted some family pictures after dinner and the waiter was very gracious in taking some photos of our family. We had a wonderful dinner for a very reasonable price. We'd been wanting to try this place as it is near our home and convenient for lunch when my wife is working in the area. The space is airy and bright. We split the Baba Ghanouj appetizer. It was very good, though the pita that came with it could have been warmed slightly to enhance its flavor. My wife had the felafel sandwich, which I tasted. It, too, was very good. When I make, rarely, felafel I add a little cayenne that gives it a nice little boost in flavor. This felafel was very tasty and not oily or greasy. I had the ground sirloin (the name excapes me) sandwich. It was a delicious, very moist and juicy meat mixture in a pita sandwich like a gyro. Both sandwiches came with a mediterranean salad that was really tasty. I liked the ambiance, the service, and the food. The girl manager was extremely rude when I picked up my order of chicken shawarma. I ordered my food off seemless which is partnered with grub hub and when I went to pick up my food she kept repeatedly saying that she only allows grub hub. She would ask me personal questions saying if I was going to eat it on my own and she gave me attitude while giving me eye roles. I wouldn't recommend eatting here. We decided to meet friends here before we headed off to the OC Fair, since it is fairly close (and who wants to eat fair food?). We were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. My friend and I are vegetarian, and she had the lentil soup and said it was very tasty. She also got the samosa appetizer plate which she shared. It came with a pomegranate sauce which was quite tasty. I got the cucumber salad with falafel. Along with cucumber, it had olives, onion, feta and tomatoes and was a pretty good portion. With the falafel added I wasn't able to eat it all. The falafel was done perfectly and seasoned well. Although my husband isn't vegetarian, he got the same dish as me, and was very happy with it. The service was wonderful, quick and warm. We were very happy to support a family run business. The place holds a lot of people, and although there weren't a lot of people there when we got there, it filled up slowly. Nice interior, the building seems a little old, but they have done a nice job making it attractive, with dark wood floors and tapestry covered chairs. I did notice they have a full bar. It is next to a Travel Lodge, and at first I thought it was attached to the Travel Lodge, but it is it's own building. Lots of parking. For the quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable. We love to try new places and we decided to check out Pom Olive. We ordered the Chicken Shawarma, which is deliciously spiced chicken on a warm pita served with a beautifully fresh salad. Fantastic combination of flavors that we have not had at a mediterranean restaurant before. The service was excellent and when we used our Yelp check in we were served fresh tatziki (yogurt and cucumber dipping sauce) with fresh hot pita bread for FREE. The prices are extremely inexpensive for all the food that you receive. I would have given five stars, but the ambience is a bit sterile. Perhaps, a few colored accent walls and some tapestries would be nice. We can't wait to go back again. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner and they have some Italian entree too, like spaghetti and meatballs! Kids ate the chicken shawarma along with my wife, nothing was left behind, I had the Lamb shawarma and enjoyed every bite, we also had a side of the tabbouleh, and Spiced potatoes! We went for a friend's birthday in July and tried a bunch of different things from appetizers to desert and we were so happy with everything! The service was great, very attentive, and the food was just perfect. Exactly what we hoped for in a good mix of Mediterranean food. This is the best Mediterranean food we have had in a long time. Prices are very reasonable for large amounts of good quality food. We got the beet salad, lamb shawarma, lamb kabobs, and lamb shawarma wrap which only added up to fifty dollars. At the end we got a side of falafel and pita fries which they gave to us for free.
