This included new plumbing, electrical, drainage, equipment etc along with the plaster and tile and new paver decking. Eddie and the entire Pool Effects crew were amazing from start to finish. So responsive, accurate, on time, on budget, clearly communicates project details, concerns and costs. His initial quote is strikingly detailed and any changes or charges for changes are communicated and approved in a simple way. I never had to track him down to find out what was going on. Eddie came out within days of me contacting him. He was very thorough and precise about the estimate. Very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Called these guys to replaster my pool. They came out as promised, gave us a bid and when we decided to go with them they wanted me to sign contract electronically and send money electronically, I called and said I had a problem with that I wanted to meet in person to sign and give money. Eddie seemed to be ok with that but when I asked about my trees around the pool , if they would be protected he had a problem with that and then I have small children and asked the guys not to cuss or smoke in my backyard due to the kids and my health again he had a problem with that. I had no problem with the guys smoking out front or occasional cuss word I just didn't want every other word to be the F word so Eddie had a problem with that and refused my job. After working with contractors my entire life, I found Eddie to be the most greedy and dishonest. He uses subs and was never at the job site while they were working. He charged me extra when the sub damaged seating area in the spa. The repair was charged at the rate of $400.00 per hour for a two man crew plus material for a total of $1950.00. A start up sub damaged a pool filter element and did a poor job of cleaning the pool. read more

After scouring the internet for a company that would just do tile repair, I found Eddie and Pool Effects, the only people willing to even look at a job involving replacing (a lot) of tile. Their estimate seemed fair, and we booked the appointment months in advance of the end of swimming season. I'm usually very decisive, but with Covid, the tile suppliers were showing tiles that weren't in stock, could end up stuck in Long Beach harbor or had to be special ordered from other states. Nevertheless I jumped on tile early on, and we were able to acquire the tile we wanted. Our expectation was to avoid replastering. An example of an issue that arose during the tiling was that, unlike every other pool, the people that built ours put in 7-8 inches of tile, instead of the industry standard 6, which seemed to be because the skimmer slots were set too low in the pool. Initially, we ordered enough for the 8 inches. Then, we thought we could get by with 6 inches and the extra tile was sent back, only for us to discover a geometry issue with the skimmers and pool cover lip that required the extra inches. Eddie was generous in checking with the tile companies about availability, offering to return excess tile, etc. He was very clear every step of the way of what could happen. When we finally drained the pool, there were micro-cracks in the 20-year-old surface. We decided to resurface, which required a reschedule and demo of a large mosaic in the bottom of the pool. Eddie's team pivoted quickly to another job and came back just as quickly, while we made decisions about whether to wait for a custom mosaic or move forward. At every step of the way, I found Eddie communicative and direct. I felt his assessments were accurate, and I never felt "oversold." When an error arose, we discussed it and came to an agreement. Very professional. I'm recommending this team to everyone I know, and I'm not usually this satisfied. I am very happy with my "new" pool. read more

We met with four different pool contractors for an estimate for major cracks in our plaster to replacement of plaster, tile, coping and pool lights to pool equipment. Eddie from Pool Effects presented the cleanest estimate that was so detailed and organized and he was easy to communicate with. The other contractor text me a price without a breakdown, the next contractor had such a confusing 25 pages of choices that there was no way of making a ballpark figure whatsoever no matter how you did your calculations. Eddie's communication skills are spot on, easy to talk to and he listens to your every detail. He is professtional . He takes safety very seriously as we have older family living with us and pets too that use the backyard daily as he fenced it off so they could have safe access to the other half of the yard without any danger. Eddie and his crew installed a 115' of mastic deck o seal around pool and replaced 37' of of plastic liners on pool deck with deck o seal. An existing anti-siphon valve was also replaced. Our 40 year old pool was in desperate need of repair, resurfacing, and updating. I obtained several bids for the work and decided to go with Pool Effects and I am so glad I did. Eddie was a pleasure to work with. First of all he is a great communicator. He always let the know when his workers were coming out and what they were going to do. He told me the pool would be finished in 4 weeks and he kept to that schedule. I last minute decided to add a Baja Shelf and Eddie not only accommodated that request, but also designed the shelf and sent me renderings of what it would look like since I was out of town. Even though it was a last minute add he charged me a reasonable price. Our neglected pool need extra repair work as the stairs were crumbling and the concrete was very weak in spots. Bought a House with a pool that had chipped slate coping that was sharp in areas and was dangerous for kids. Also had the pebble-plaster go up beyond the water line which was cracking. Eddie came in and evaluated the situation and gave me Clear options on what I could do to replace the coping, what materials he reccomended and why. He was very clear on the options, material costs, why certain upgrades would cost more, and was never pushy but more informative in an educating manner. I also got 3 additional quotes, and validated all of Eddies Reccomendations/pricing, which were more than reasonable. Eddie's quotes were also very detailed and itemized. Pool Effects Inc, has Top Notch Tradesmen in all areas, from Demo, concrete repair, tile setting, and masonry and they were all super experienced and professional. Throughout the Process Eddie communicated clearly with regular updates, and smoothed out any issues that arose during the process (old plaster was uneven, cracks in the previous concrete) by offering solutions for each issue. Also worked to resolve issues within existing quote estimate without adding costs. Very high Integrity/Ethics. Great Example of the Customer Focused Approach: Our Existing Peble Plaster is nearing end of its life, but due to the other costs of moving into our new home, we couldn't justify the replacement of the plaster at this time. Eddie understood our concerns and thoughfully let us know which work could be done later without rework, and which portions would need to be done together for cost efficiencies, so we could separate our vision into "phases" that are more affordable, without getting too much rework done. You just found the best pool guys in the business. This is my second pool to get replastered and I thought I knew what to expect. After talking to Eddie I found out how I got screwed by the guy who did my first pool. The other guys that came and gave me an estimate spent 5 minutes gave me the same song and dance and left. Eddie spent 45 to 60 minutes explaining things. After the plaster was removed he showed me where the plaster had failed and the gunite was compomised. He fixed the problem and still finished on schedule. His crew cleaned up after each work day. I could be happier.
