Pot pies are my comfort food...always has been It's a struggle to find a good pot pie...especially because a lot of the times people call soup with a puff pastry top a pot pie...yeah...no...that's not how that works... In my book, a pot pie has to have crust on the bottom and the top The good news is that Pop Pie delivers! They have a large selection of flavors and the service was very good here. I felt bad for the worker...I had a lot of questions...but you know, I needed to make sure it was what I wanted! I tried the traditional chicken pot pie, as a control. Hot, fresh and delicious, this pot pie is a real hit with my tummy! There was plenty of large chunks of chicken and gravy to make it a perfect blend of textures I will definitely be back to try additional flavors...and dessert!
Service: 5/5. We were greeted immediately by a young man at the counter, who was also helpful with recommendations. They have a variety of heated and cold pies, and offer to heat up the cold ones if you wish. It's not just about the filling. The pastries (crusts and crumbles) are so integral to a good pie, and Pop Pie does all of them well. STEAK & ALE: 4/5. Surprisingly herbaceous and extremely hearty. My partner and I ate this around 11AM and were still full enough that we skipped dinner. KEY LIME: 4/5. Starts mellow, then has a strong acidic finish. SALTED CARAMEL APPLE: 4/5. Didn't really get salted caramel, but still really delicious overall. BLUEBERRY APPLE YUZU: 4/5. The apple and yuzu are definitely the stars of this one. BOSS BREAKFAST: 5/5. Bacon, eggs, cheese, potatoes, served with a side of maple syrup. What's not to love? The eggs have a surprisingly strong flavor.
Ordered a Too Good To Go bag and can't complain what a good deal it was. We got to try the Steak and Chicken pies, both good savory options. The worker was very nice and gave some recommendations based on her own favorites. Will have to be back to try their dessert pies, the Strawberry Rhubarb pie looks amazing! I love key lime pies but seldom ever find one I enjoy. Usually the crust isn't sturdy enough and mushy. The filling either too sweet or doesn't have that nice aroma of lime juice. Sometimes it's all of the above. So consequently, I just never bother getting any as it almost always disappoints me and I just feel ripped off. Well, not so if I get my slices from Pop Pie!!!! I discovered this location by accident when I was fixing to get donuts next door. I don't know what made me pop in to look at pies but I am so glad I did!!!! What an underrated place this is. The service was courteous and efficient. I got 4 different kinds of pies. Two savory and two sweet ones. I honestly wasn't expecting much until I took a bite out of my two sweet pies. I shared with nobody at home because it was too good. My mom couldn't snatch the fork out of my hand fast enough just to try a bite. The key lime pie was very silky and had just enough tartness and sweetness. The crust was sturdy and buttery. Just how I like them. No soggy bottoms and no wet pie sheets looking and tasting greasy. The same with the chocolate pecan pie. Not gritty and not crunchy. But still has the perfect texture and flavors of chocolate and pecans. Loved it. Also enjoyed the breakfast pie that had loads of potatoes and savory meats. This one is not something I would get again. I liked the quiche but not enough to go back just to have more of. Parking here is easy and free right in front of the shop. Amex accepted and totally worth visiting for treats. What a wonderful discovery this was and I can't wait to go back!
Took a drive after so many rainy days and the sunshine was out to greet me. It was a nice drive to Costa Mesa and I thought to get a few savory breakfast pies and a birthday pie. They did not disappoint! Each one was thoughtfully explained by the friendly staff. I bought the Blueberry Apple Yuzu Crumble pie to celebrate our dad's birthday and he is going to be super pleased! Friendly customers all sharing their favorites with one another. Chicken pot pie, Poblano Corn, and many more. They have a delicious sides like creamed corn that I love! Parking is rotational switching in 10 minutes, people leave and you can find a spot. Be patient it's worth it!
A small store front to come pick up personal size pot pies. The friendly staff asked if I had been there before and if I had any questions. The store sold savory and sweet pies with other baked dessert. I picked up the Beef and Ale pot pie with creamed corn. It was a good pairing. The beef pot pie was meaty and the crust was flaky. Forgot to take a picture of the guava pastry, which was tasty. The staff offered to heat up the pastry. The parking can be a bit hard if you go by during lunch. Had to drive around to find parking to do a take out order.
Trying to clean out my freezer Turkey pot pie with cranberry sauce 5/5 This has been in my freezer since Nov? I was supposed to bake it best by 5/25, but I'm a bit shy of the date lol regardless, it tastes great. Air fried it at 350f for 30-40 min or so. Turkey is moist with a bit of texture so it doesn't feel like you're eating limp poultry. There's corn, potatoes, celery, carrots, a touch of rosemary that isn't overly creamy with the roux mixture. Cranberry sauce has a teensy bit of cinnamon and leans more sweet than tart. Crust is flakey and buttery. Not as crunchy as other spots, but solid for a pie crust. It was $11 or $12? Not bad to have this in the freezer long term. Two people can split one for a hefty snack or you can eat a whole one and potentially fall asleep.
Came here after seeing a few TikToks about it. The interior is a small storefront with a display case of their pies and a few tables if you want to eat there. We tried the classic chicken pot pie and the green pork and cheese pot pie. The chicken was warm and comforting, though I do wish the chicken pieces were cut a bit smaller because they were kind of dry. The pork pie had a generous amount of meat and great flavor, but was also slightly dry. Overall, a solid choice and I would consider coming back to try different flavors.
I've been a big fan of Pop Pie for years and have happily driven out of my way just to get their chicken pot pie and other delicious flavors. However, I had a very concerning experience with my most recent visit. I purchased a chicken pot pie yesterday and nearly choked on a bone that was inside. It was alarming and has made me hesitant to continue purchasing what used to be one of my favorites. I truly hope they improve their quality control -- consistency and safety are everything, especially with food. Unfortunately, this experience drops my rating to 2 stars.
Really delicious from savory to sweet, there is something for everyone. The ground beef pie was meaty and hearty and not salty. The chicken pot pie was traditional and classic and the crust is just fluffy and light, goes so well with the gravy. Decent size pies and service is really friendly and you can eat inside and outside.
Awesome key lime pie - had to get adjusted to the pie crust for it though, it's a typical pie crust vs. a graham cracker-style crust. Probably would prefer a graham cracker-style crust honestly, but the filling was legit (sweet and tangy) with just enough cream on top (not too much, not too little). There's some stool seating and two tables outside - so not a place to hang for too long. The ice cream next door is legit too. Would come back if I'm around the area and try some of the savory things as well.

Since the closure of Pie Hole in Orange I have been on the hunt for a pie shop. This spot has both savory and sweet pies, my spouse loves pie and a slice of key lime hit the spot today! Completely stumbled across this place, and I'm SO GLAD I did! Now it's a must-stop whenever I am in Costa Mesa. Pop Pie is a counter service restaurant that serves single serving savory pies, quiches, sweet pies whole or by the slice, and coffee. I ordered the Steak and Ale pie ($12) hot, and the Roasted Veggies & Yellow Curry (vegan option, $10.50) frozen. All savory pies are between $10.50-$12, which I think is a great deal! The Steak and Ale pie was the perfect size to be considered a full meal for me, and I look forward to trying the Yellow Curry pie in the future! After I got home, I noticed the paper menu lists "Bake at Home Frozen Pies Available: $1 off hot and ready price," however I was charged the full price for the frozen vegan pie I took home. Little pot pie shop that shares a building with Stella Jean ice cream. Had to try their classic chicken pot pie and it was delicious! Took me back to my childhood when I had the microwave banquet or Marie Callender's pot pies. Super flaky and good crust, and delicious chicken, gravy, and veggies (carrots and peas) For $11 it was a pretty decent size! Definitely want to try their other pies like the Aussie Pie and Steak pie! read more
My Curry Pop Pie was extremely delicious. It tasted like I was visiting my friend's grandmas house! The crust is perfect and freshly made. I will come back to build my own pie. I grabbed a rhubarb dessert that knocked my socks off and a chocolate cookie that melted in my mouth. Their service is great! read more
Ok best strawberry rhubarb pie in town. Tangy, super filled and the oatmeal crumbly top. My gosh. Divine! Fast service at the counter. SOOO GOOOOOOD! I am definitely coming again whenever I'm in the area. PARKING & LOCATION - tucked in a corner in a strip mall with a lot of other popular spots. Right next to Sidecar. Parking will definitely fill up during rush hours. It's connected and partners with the next door ice cream spot, which is perfect with a sweet pie! SERVICE - Just lovely! Very friendly and helpful. Ate outside on the outdoor tables (they only have 3) and they checked up on us if we were doing alright and if we needed anything. FOOD - Got 2 combos: Classic Chicken Pot Pie with Creamed Corn and Steak & Ale with Kale Slaw. Chicken Pot Pie was delicious! Not too heavy, and the size is right. Piping hot when received, so let it cool down first. Steak & Ale pie definitely fits the name. You taste the steak, you taste the ale. It was good but I'm a Chicken Pot Pie fiend. The creamed corn was my fave side! The other savory pies looked so good too that I will come back to try the others. Mark my words. read more
I am a fan of the seasonal coconut pie. Oh my! It is absolutely a must try. It's like a Filipino buko pie. SO GOOD! I also tried the matcha latte. I substituted the milk for oat and added an extra serving of matcha powder and my drink came out to be almost $10! Wow. That's what I get for not asking how much every modification and addition costs. To the owners, maybe post the prices of that on the menu. Call me Joe Goldberg, because I've been stalking Pop Pie for years. The fact that I've survived so long without visiting this local gem is absurd - especially considering I've bookmarked this spot on Instagram, Yelp, and Tiktok. Pop Pie is famous for their delicious traditional and non-traditional pie flavors. They sell hand pies, pies, and quiche by the slice or whole. Flavors range from sweet (Caramelized Banana Pie, Key Lime, and Guava Cream Cheese) to salty (Steak & Ale, Green Hog & Cheese, Roasted Veggies & Yellow Curry). I went with the Veggie Pot Pie: Portabella mushrooms, brussels sprouts, pearl onions, creamy herb sauce, baked into their signature all-butter crust. 10/10! Customers have the option to pay +$4 for a side of mash potatoes and gravy, creamed corn, or kale slaw. I personally believe this purchase should be mandatory. I did a mash potato/creamed corn hybrid and this truly took the meal to a whole new level. read more

I was next door at side car and decided to "pop"' in and see what the fuss was about. I ordered a chicken pie with a side of mash and gravy. Loved all the flavors. Pie was spot on. More like a British pie (less wet filling), which I enjoy. Gravy had great flavor. One small critique - the mash texture, should have been smoother. Outside of that, loved the food. First timer! Ordered the Green Hog and Cheese pie, which was really good. The meat inside was a generous amount, definitely filling. I'd be curious to come back and try some other options. There were options different than the savory pies, such as breakfast quiche that also looked good. read more
Happy Pi Day, 3/14! FANTASTIC! I've been a few times over the years, but this time was extra special. My wife and I went yesterday with our two babies (2.5yrs and 9mo) and we had the BEST time. The owner Tanya was a total sweetheart and refused my offer to clean up the blast radius of pie crumbs my 9mo old had left around the high chair. We came back today for their Pi Day specials which surely did not disappoint! The food is absolutely delicious, hot and fresh all the time, and the whole staff is pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone who'll listen to me. read more
I tried their ube coconut hand pie and I think it was a seasonal flavor for Valentine's Day and all I can say is that everyone has to try it, it is simply the best ube dessert I've had. It was sweet and coconutty. The only thing I didn't like was the "edible" flower they placed on top of the pie which I immediately spit out bc it tasted disgusting but the actual pie itself was great! 10/10 read more
Omg are you kidding me I CANT BELIEVE IVE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE! If I could describe this place as anything, it feels like a big, warm hug. I got my food immediately after working and the staff was so kind. The chicken pot pie is absolutely delicious and the crust was perfect and crispy. I didnt eat until 20+ after getting it because I had to drive home and was worried it was going to be cold but it stayed STEAMING the entire time I ate it. I'm hungry again just writing about it. I got the side of creamy corn & mashed potatoes and it was delicious! If I were to choose one, the corn was SPECTACULAR. The mashed potatoes and gravy was a little salty for my taste. And to top it off, I got the blueberry apple crumble pie. SO GOOD. I cannot wait to be back tomorrow and the next day and the next. read more

I hadn't been to Pop Pie Co. yet but I did see that they were doing a collaboration with Heritage BBQ and it was the perfect time to check them out. My husband and I plus our dog in tow arrived early Saturday morning and parked in the nearby lot. There was a line already but they didn't open until 9 am. We were there maybe around 8:40 am. I went to stand in line while my husband walked our dog around the lot. My husband took a look at the menu and let me know he wanted a Steak & Ale pie. I was already going the order the Heritage BBQ Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese pie but I saw that they also offer frozen pies for $1 off the baked price. When I got to the front I ordered the Heritage BBQ Pulled Pork, Steak & Ale, and a frozen Classic Chicken pie. They were handing out free pints of Stella Jean's Ice Cream to the first 20 people in line. Those were some lucky peeps! Anyway, I was handed my order and I walked out of the store not thinking to get any napkins or utensils. I had to send the husband back in to grab those items. The pies were delicious. The Heritage BBQ Pulled Pork came with a side of pickled onions which really helped balance the richness of the pork, mac & cheese, and pie crust. It was a taste explosion. My husband said the steak and ale pie was okay. He liked it but it was a tad soggy on the bottom. We still have the frozen one that I saved for a later date. This place had been on my list to try for a while, and I'm so glad I finally tried it! The classic chicken pot pie is an ideal chicken pot pie with great quality chicken and vegetables. The filling was flavorful and had a nice garlic taste and the crust was perfect! I also picked up the guava cream cheese hand pie which was tasty. The guava filling was had a nice natural guava flavor and the cream cheese wasn't too sweet. The Key Lime pie also looked excellent and I will be back to try it! There's not a ton of seating, but I was able to find a table just fine when I visited. read more

Warm and flaky pie crust that surrounds a delicious filling of chicken pot pie. Good ratio of chicken and veggie pieces in the filling. I definitely could eat the crust by itself lol. Creamed corn was good, wished they could fill the container more. A decent price for a personal sized pot pie and a side. Stopped in for the first time last evening after visiting Sidecar Donuts, and ordered one of their red chili pork pies. Omgosh, the crust was soooooooo flaky. I'm a person who loves a flaky crust and these pies are better than the ones my granny made. Sorry granny. The pie was pretty filling and I kept half for breakfast. Let me inform you that putting a medium over easy egg combined with the red chili pork was to die for. So, effing, good!! The staff was very friendly and patient. Super helpful and made me feel comfortable asking questions. I envy their ovens . Its a very pretty and open location with a walk through to a ice cream shop next door. Very pretty and comfortable. There's outside seating available along with a small area inside. Great place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner, since they have pies available for any meal. There's a breakfast pie, sausage rolls, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the pork one I had. The flavors melded together perfectly. Stopped by Pop Pie in Costa Mesa and loved every bite! I ordered the coconut pie and an oatmeal golden raisin cookie, and both were delicious. The coconut pie had a perfectly creamy filling with just the right amount of coconut flavor, while the oatmeal cookie was soft, chewy, and packed with golden raisins--a simple treat done right! The service was friendly and quick, with staff who genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. The ambiance is charming and cozy, with a modern, welcoming vibe that makes it a great spot to enjoy dessert or a coffee. However parking was limited and space was small. This plaza gets very busy because of the donut place next door. Overall, Pop Pie is a must-visit if you're in Costa Mesa craving something sweet and if you're a pie lover. I never got a chance to try Pop Pie, but they recently had a grand reopening so I stopped by. We got the Heritage Barbeque collab smoked pulled pork mac n cheese pie and slice of blueberry apple yuzu crumble. It was actually my first time eating a savory pie, and it was better than I expected! I took it to-go but when I arrived home, it was still warm. The pie crust was nice and flaky, and the tender bbq pork surprisingly paired well with the creamy mac n cheese. The pie also came with sour pickled onions that served as a nice palate cleanser. The blueberry apple yuzu crumble didn't have as big of a "wow" factor but was still good, slightly tart and not overly sweet. I'm honestly not a huge pie person at all, but the savory pies here are to die for. I came on a whim with a group of friends who live in the area and decided to give it a try. I got the savory classic chicken pot pie with a side of half and half creamed corn and mashed potatoes. I got to add a side for only $3 because i ordered a savory pie. The chicken pot pie was steaming hot and the crust was soooo buttery and flaky. The inside was a very savory and creamy sauce of chicken and the veggies. The highlight of the dish was definitely the crust, and im very amazed by how well done it was. The creamed corn was also very tasty along with the mashed potatoes! Although im not a huge fan of sweet pies, i will definitely return for their savory items! read more

Yummy! Great little bakery! Pop Pie in Costa Mesa has it all! They have pot pies, quiche, desserts and ice creams! If you are craving something sweet or savory, Pop Pie is sure to quench your craving! I wanted some ice cream. I ordered the cookies and cream ice cream (to be on the safe side), since this was my first time having their ice cream. I may have played it a little too safe lol Next time, I will try a different flavor. The cookies and cream flavor was good, but seemed a bit underwhelming. I also ordered the mushroom quiche, and the ham quiche. I had the mushroom quiche, and it was good. I'm not a huge quiche fan, but it was decent. I wanted something different and not the usual Mexican fare or or burger joint. You know those bookmarked you have on Yelp that are mentally marked "maybe one day?" This one was mine Location: 17th Street and Santa Ana Avenue in Costa Mesa in the corner of a large shopping center next door to Sidecar Donuts. Plenty of parking available. Food: I hadn't taken a good scan of the menu, but I figured I can't go wrong with the basics, right?? Right. I got the Steak and Ale and let me tell you, I was extremely happy with my choice. Piping hot with a buttery flaky crust, savory fillings that didn't skimp on the meat, rich and savory filling- I was in pot pie heaven!! These are hefty pies, people, so don't think 5 inches aren't enough. They also have sweet pies and quiches too!! They also have a freezer full of frozen pies you can take home to bake for yourself too. I took a chicken pot home for later. Can't decide? They have a board of their most popular picks to help you decide. Summary: I would come here again and I will next time I'm in the area. This is a hidden gem and the locals know it too. Most people took their orders to-go and they hold up well on the drive home and stay hot for a long time. Service was friendly and helpful and the ambiance was casual. They even have an ice cream shop through a walkway if you prefer your desserts cold. How convenient!! Credit or debit only and definitely not meant for large parties. I will say that pricing is a bit on the high side, but you get quality ingredients and a hefty pie. Yeah, I'll be back again soon. Happy eating!! read more

I had high hopes for this place. The place looks nice and clean, lots of different things to choose from. The service was quick. But unfortunately the classic chicken pot pie, was probably one of the worst pot pies I've ever had. It was so dry, there was absolutely little to no gravy. The chunks of chicken were way too big in my opinion. I would have enjoyed some more of the gravy and veggies like a normal pot pie. The crust was okay & there could have been more flavor. read more
