I ordered carry out at around 12pm. I ordered 2 chicken sandos ( no heat ) and 1 order of the dill side winder fries. The chicken was moist, thick, and the breading provided a great texture. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The pop up sauce on the sandwich was delicious! The sauce is sweet but not over powering to the chicken. The fries have a great flavor with a good amount of dill seasoning and come with a side of dipping sauce. I'll be back to visit the stand alone location! Wanted to put new pictures up of the menu as prices have changed and so has the location. We came for lunch, 12:30pm, the place was hopping. You order and pay at the hostess table and then they seat you, you get you own drinks. We didn't eat anything of the burger menu and I didn't even know they had burgers as I hadn't seen a menu online for them, we came for the Chicken. We shared an Illinois Hot Chicken horseshoe, toast topped with dill potatoes wedges, two large chicken tenders then covered in homemade cheese sauce. We also ordered the Mac and Cheese and Street Corn and a side of ranch dressing. My partner and I agreed we'd be back for the horseshoe it was amazing! The Mac and cheese was creamy, made with shells pasta. I love making elote in the summers, so I was excited to get it, the pictures online showed street corn(which is on the cob), so I was dismayed to see esquites(in a cup) instead... Table ordered the 2 tendos - medium Spice, breast sandwich- medium spice & dill fries. Pop up sauce & BBQ sauce. Pop up sauce is original & complimentary to both the chicken and dill fries. The chicken is brined for 24-48 hours before final Prep and you can tell. Super juicy and flavorful. I probably should have gone with mild spice (I know, I'm a pansy) because the medium made my lips tingle, roof of my mouth was burning and my tongue felt weird! This was some good chicken. Went a bit out of our way to try this and I'm glad we did. The staff was friendly and even though we had to wait a while for our food it was worth it. While I got a medium based on the other reviews I should have gone with a hot as I could have used a bit more spice. The dill fries were great and I stole some fried pickles from my girlfriend. They were not as good as the fries. The portions were good sized and it was too much to try the cornbread, but we will save that for later. read more

This shop is located in the VFW and has limited hours, but it's definitely worth the visit. We ordered the fried pickles, fries, street corn, country and mild Sando sandwich, dark meat plate, Gouda Mac and cheese and a kale salad with pulled chicken. Everything was good to great, but the Sando sandwich is fantastic! Nowadays the rage is Chick-fil-A and Popeyes. This sandwich is a direct competitor to Popeyes, but it's much better. Popeyes and Popups serve their chicken on a soft bun, with pickles, but the slaw, juiciness of Popups chicken and their batter seasoning is what makes the sandwich better. It's so good and you can order different spice levels which I love! Country=no heat, mild, medium and hot. Their popup sauce is also a nice mayo based sauce that somewhat reminded me of a thousand island dressing, but better. My other favorites were their slaw, Mac and cheese and pickle driest. The Mac and cheese had a slight amount of spice, al dente pasta shells and a creamy smoky cheese flavor! It was delightful! The only let down was the street corn. Been a Pop up fan since the VFW days. Love the new location - you enter in the front room to order, take a number, seat yourself, and the food is brought out to you. Really nice ambiance on the inside with a full bar. I always order chicken and waffles but I need to branch out! I love the thickness and cut of the unique dill fries. The room is fairly cramped when waiting during peak times but the wait was expected to be 15 minutes and we waited about 10. Once seated our food was brought to the table within 5 minutes after ordering. I got the Illinois Hot Chicken Horseshoe with medium sauce. The chicken has a dry rub and just enough sauce to provide a kick. The dill fries are similar to wedges and the Gouda cheese provided a velvety smooth finish. The Texas toast was thick and buttered on the bottom. This dish was so huge that there was plenty for leftovers. I found my first experience a while back with the medium Sando too hot so dialed it down to no heat. I could taste the fabulous, moist chicken. The breast was huge and moist, most certainly brined.
