    Single Cheeseburger Double Cheeseburger

Unexpectedly good smash burger. $6.99 for basic no frills burger with cheese, secret sauce, and pickles. Simplicity at its best but I do wish it as cheaper. That might not exist in NYC anymore though.

Popchew is one more smash burger place that has opened up in the Union Square area. Yesterday I had a single burger with the works and crinkle fries. Darien was the young girl at the window. A few yellow colored tables and chairs are outside. The orange creamsicle was over and more was being made. The burger was ordinary in flavor. I think that the Smashy burger would go well with their fries. Lots of customers were taking burgers to go. It's quite expensive here too.

This place was very confusing. My friend found a video on social media of Popchew, but we had no idea it was going to be a ghost kitchen. The address led us to a dimly lit locked entrance. A worker came out and immediately asked us for our names. We had no idea how to even order and mentioned it to him, but he continued to pry us for our names. Turns out, you need to order through their app. And tell the worker your name after. Unhelpful service. The food came in gigantic bags. At the time we ordered, they were doing a year of free burgers promo, so our meal ended up being around $1! Unfortunately though, the food was just ok. They were definitely not comparable to 7th Street. Most notably, I think their name came from their fries. They had a unsettling popping texture to it. I would pass on trying this place out. The burger gummy as part of the meal was a cute touch though!

As of today, this is a takeout/delivery only establishment. There are no signs out front. It is next to the residential building. Once 6pm rolls around, there are 2 sandwich sidewalk boards out and a security guard/bouncer outside the door. Patrons and delivery drivers surround the area to pick up orders. My app timed out while I was using AppleCash and I was double charged on my end. Tried emailing them but they said they only got one charge. So guess I lucked out. I did get a free combo but that was thru the app. Pretty disappointing that I was not able to resolve my situation as I didn't feel the burgers lived up to the instagram hype. They weren't bad burgers at all. But would I drag myself there every month to get a free combo? If I lived in the area, probably, but I don't. In any case, the marketing for this spot is very good. The yellow and the mouth graphics pop. The burger gummy is a cute little surprise. The fries are very crisp and much better than Shake Shack. Are the burgers better than 7th Street? To me, no. But everyone has their preference. Try it for yourself.

Don't let the small burger fool you, it's definitely heart. The burger has onions smashed in them and the patty is so juicy. A double cheeseburger burger for $9.50? In New York City none the less. Unheard of. On top of that our cashier was so great, you can totally tell she cares about her job. Is her name Mariah? Maybe. African American girl, super nice so helpful. After a long day of being out, we were starving and needed something that would really hit the spot. We ordered the spicy cheeseburger with an Impossible patty and fries, and wow -- it was exactly what we needed. The burger was packed with flavor, satisfying, and somehow both indulgent and perfectly simple at the same time. Love how simple they keep the place. The lines move quickly and there is seating, but it is usually packed. They also have tables outside to stand. I'm already thinking about when I can go back. Do I need a reason? Do I need to actually be hungry? Probably not. That's how good it was. 7th Street Burger absolutely lived up to the hype, and I'm just annoyed I didn't know about it sooner. Can't wait to go back and try more!

Ambiance: I could see this place being very busy so having a seat is not guaranteed and the space looked clean and well taken care of. Food: well I order the fried chicken sandwich and added Cheddar Cheese to it (they have option between American & Cheddar) kept pickle, lettuce and tomato and I added to it Small fries. Well I would assure you that it is one of the best fries I have ever had and they taste so good and look at the portion, its amazing. The burger was great, I loved it honestly especially the Bun, sauce and pickles. I have one small remark regarding the chicken is that it need more marination either in slices or something cause it felt dry when biting into it. I also I wanna see a spicy chicken sandwich option as well.

I have to be careful though, because it seems much of their menu is fried in beef tallow. What I Ordered: - Grilled Chicken Char: a little salty, chicken breast tenderized + expands beyond the bun - Small Fries: plenty for 1, adequate for 2 people, not super salty, shoestring style which i love

It was lightly fried with golden yellow color with thin and simple breading. Exactly what I want in a fried tender! 4 pieces of tender with drank rang up to about $15. Glad I don't live near this joint because hot damn, I'd be fat! I ordered through the huge screen when I entered and it came out in 5-6 minutes. The bathroom has a secret code to enter, FYI. I chose the 3 chicken fingers meal and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The chicken fingers were large, juicy, tasty, lightly battered and fried just right. Not greasy at all. Came with crinkle cut fries, warm Texas toast, one Cane sauce, and a fountain soda. For $12 you get a decently portioned meal which hits the spot. I would try it again if in the area and craving chicken fingers. Not too bad for a fast food chain.

When you walk in, the menu is clearly visible above the register and they have burritos, quesadillas, and much more. The fam has always hyped the burritos, so I wasn't really looking to try anything else for my first time. I was on the fence between the chicken ranchero and seitan burrito. Since I had never had the latter before, I have to give it a try. I liked that there was an option for a spinach tortilla, I went with that. It was ready in about 10 minutes, and while it is indeed a take out spot, no one else was sitting inside, so we were able to occupy the four seats that were there. The burrito was humongous. I should have taken a picture of it, but I was so hungry and ready to dive in I just didn't. It was delicious. We all shared chips and a hefty amount of red salsa, that was surprisingly spicy. What a meal! We were lucky to just beat a big crowd of people. Folks were standing around waiting and pretty much the entire standing area of the little place to get orders. I'm glad I finally got to try and I would come back. The closest thing that I normally go to is the Nintendo store. I could definitely make it happen again.
