Here's my tip for going during lunch or dinner time (unless you LIKE sitting in a car burning money for A WHILE). BEST WAY - use the app to order and take a 2nd person to grab the food while you wait just outside on Williams across from the Hele station (unless you got a Handicap hanger AND the one space is empty). 2nd BEST WAY (if you are a GOOD driver and don't have a truck) - use the app to order, then to pickup, pull onto Williams: if the DIY parking spot by the driveway is open, you're golden; otherwise from Williams (if 1 of the 2 lot parking spots across from the pickup window is open) flip around and back into one of those spots. Watch out for the dipnits leaving the window with their brain in their foodbag, and enjoy all the looks from the shellfish who think you are trying 'for cuts' or going to hit their German import! I'm really disappointed with my recent experience at Popeyes (Kapahulu location). I went through the drive-thru to order my usual Ghost Pepper dry rub wings with extra dry seasoning on the side. When I placed my order through the AI system, it didn't recognize or understand the request for extra dry rub on the side. No problem -- I figured I'd just clarify at the window. When I got to the window to pay, I asked the worker (training) if I could get some ghost pepper dry seasoning on the side. He told me his manager said they no longer do that and that they don't have containers for it anymore. I was honestly surprised because this has never been an issue before. If there was an extra charge for it, I would have gladly paid -- it's not about the money, it's about the willingness to accommodate a simple request. To make sure I wasn't misunderstanding the policy, I drove to another Popeyes location on Dillingham (same franchise owner), and they had absolutely no problem giving me the dry rub on the side. No pushback, no excuses. It's frustrating when one location can't accommodate such a small and reasonable request, especially when another location under the same ownership can. Unfortunately, if the Kapahulu location can't handle the smallest customer accommodations, I won't be returning to this one. I'll just take my business to the Dillingham location instead. That said, I do want to be fair -- other than this issue, the food itself was great. The wings were fresh, hot, and full of flavor like always. I just hope management can work on consistency and customer accommodation moving forward. read more

I don't know who seasoned my blackened tenders tonight but you did what needed to be done! I LOVE the blackened tenders from Popeyes, so flavorful and the bonus is they're dairy free friendly unlike the breaded options so they really are my go to. Also it was my first time at the Kapahulu location (pay attention because it's easy to miss the turn into their drive-thru) I will say out of all the locations on the island they had the best sweet tea, I always get an Arnold Palmer (half sweet tea and half lemonade with light ice) and tonight it was perfectly sweet with a touch of lemon sour LIKE I LIKE IT. With the limited cuisine options here in Hawaii it's nice to be able to get a fast meal that still feels homey. Delicious, but.. the wait is very long, almost always. the price of 6 piece wings ONLY, including tax, went up from $8.37 about a month ago to now $9.41. to add your purchase points from the receipt, it says input the the code into the app within 48 hours, but you can't do it right away after purchase, and I suspect the HST time zone is the reason that you can't do it in the several hours before the 48 hours has passed. This place makes for a quick family meal. It's fast food, so not gourmet. I prefer the chicken tenders and so do my kids. Hubby prefers the fried chicken. It's easy to order on the app and you can pick up at the counter or through the drive through service. The parking lot is tiny and if you enter via Kapahulu you have to sit in the drive through line before getting to the parking spaces which is a little inconvenient. I always get a large mashed potatoes on the side because I'm a potato junkie and it's a guilty pleasure that I enjoy eating way too much! The gravy is savory and I like the smoothness of the mashed potatoes. I even use it as a spread on my biscuits. Overall the chicken is ok and I prefer KFC cole slaw. As an Uber Eats driver I noticed something one of the employees did that was really disgusting. I've ate here a lot in the past, but have only ordered in the drive thru. This time I was doing uber eats and walked inside. I noticed a young girl walk out of the kitchen and into the employee only restroom with gloves on and her cell phone in her hand.
