I have been to all Poppy's locations. This one just started serving lunch, which is really nice and they offer an early birds portion until 530. That's what we ordered. It's always a nice visit here because it's clean and I like the fact that they have white tablecloths that make it just a little bit more fancy. They have a great menu with a wide selection of items to choose from and a great wine list as well. Located in a new center in St. John's and parking is right in front of the restaurant. It is nicely decorated has booths and tables for you to sit at. There is also a really nice bar area with high tops that you can sit at as well. It's usually crowded so it's good to go on off hours or just plan on waiting a little bit. The food is always good at all of the locations. We did order the earlybird entrées which were still a good sized portion. Pictures attached. The only reason for four stars this time instead of five was that our server was not as congenial as id usual. And one of the dishes came out a little cool. Also, we received our entrées too quickly and didn't have time to eat our salads first. We felt very rushed. We will definitely return to this location because it is usually spot on. I've avoided the newer Poppy's in St John since I had an awful experience at their 1 st location in Ponte Vedra 5 yrs ago. However, today's experience was much better. Between Christmas shopping my husband & I needed some Sustenance to keeping shopping & Poppy's happened to be en route. We stopped in @ opening at noon. The place is nice looking with a small bar in front with high tops. We were greeted by a friendly server who told us to look at the back of the menu for lunch specials available from 12-5 pm. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana sandwich which comes with fries. The server was very accommodating when I asked to substitute the fries for a salad. My husband ordered a grilled chicken on a brioche type bun with cheese and pesto mayo. This sandwich also comes with fries. My husband also ordered the soup of the day which was Italian Wedding. He said the soup was way too salty & I tasted it to confirm. My salad was nice and fresh & a nice size for a side salad. Our entrees came out & my husband's was missing the fries. Apparently, the server thought he wanted to sub the fries for soup. Once they straightened it out the server brought out the fries. They were super hot & tasty. He said his sandwich was also very good. I thought the presentation was awful & it didn't look appetizing to me. A big plate with just that sandwich. But he said it was good. My sandwich came out piping hot. It was on a ciabatta roll. The eggplant was nice & thin. It was floured the way I like it with no skin. One of the best eggplant sandwiches I've had in Jax. Since it was a lunch special it was $16. I believe my husband's sandwich was @ the same price. When the bill came there was a $4 charge for the soup which was reasonable. Note: Poppy's charges a 4 % up charge to use a credit card. If you want to save that fee you should pay cash. I would definitely go back for that sandwich again or to try other things on the menu. read more

Been to Poppy's at their 210 location a couple times and it has been consistently good. Their garlic bread is hot, soft and ultimate delicious. The chicken and vegetable soup that comes with the entree is also tasty. We had mozzarella sticks, fettuccine Alfredo and fruitti di mare. All entrees are food, fresh and offer good quality pasta and seafood ingredients. Definitely a go to place for amazing Italian food. read more

We had a live,y tasty dinner on our first visit to Poppys Italiano. It's listed as in being in St Augustine but it's no where near the touristy spot of Old City. We went on a busy Saturday night, during high school graduation season (4 schools in the local area) yet we were seated promptly for our 6pm reservation. The place has a bright airy feel, also with a darker bar towards the front with some TVs while you wait for a spot. Plenty of parking as well, plus a take out window which is different? We all started with drinks, which were very good, but it also had been a long day so perhaps anything would have been good. our meals also meals started with salads and fresh garlic bread. The garlic bread was great but you didn't need to worry about vampires for the rest of the night, so may be opt for plain on a first date. Our server was professional and friendly, there when you needed him and gone when you were all set. I had the shrimp parmigiana, which is not usually one of my usual picks. That area of Florida is known for their shrimp and the restaurant used the local fresh stuff which made this dinner a great choice. Another diner had the chicken francese, which had a nice lemon sauce but not overwhelming. The risotto served with it was very good. While I did not get to try our other guests parm special which was a plate of chicken and eggplant parm, he left with leftovers which is always a good sign. We all left stuffed as the graduation tables began to roll in. We have family in the area and will definitely suggest going back. read more

The new location on 210 is small but they are tasty and have a great early bird special that's just the right size. I mean the bread here is without question so delish and always hot and yummy. All entres come with coup or salad. Soup was hot but very oniony. Still good just could eat it all. The francese was dredged in the egg and perfect consistency and the risotto had lots of flavor. We have been waiting for this site to open. Since there was a 30 min wait inside we were immediately seated outside. My husband had fried green tomatoes, littleneck clams and fettuccini with a Caesar salad. I had amazing chicken piccata with risotto and soup. The bread was fantastic but get the plain as the garlic is dropped in a plate of olive oil instead of being separate. The plain is served with butter. A new favorite spot. Early birds need to arrive before 5:30. read more

We were quickly seated and also had our server, Andrew, come right over to our table. We decided to opt for the early bird dinners, but the portions were still plenty. We enjoyed our first meal at Poppy's, Sunday lunch. It's a great neighborhood spot that pleased the whole family, even my youngest who was grumbling about not liking pasta on the way in the door (I mean seriously, how is he my child?!) We had calamari to start which was tender and cooked well. Salads next - we all liked the Caesar dressing best, though I was also happy with balsamic and olive oil. Garlic bread was delish, though a bit strong for the kids (don't tone it down, it's great as is!) Mains were the pasta combo, chicken picatta and the boys split the chicken parmigiana. Portions are huge! Boys raved about the chicken. I snuck a bite while cutting it up for one - chicken came out crispy and cooked perfectly. My oldest loved the pasta. Youngest did in fact eat some. Hubby enjoyed the pasta combo but I think he's going for the sausage and peppers next time. My chicken picatta was so good. I'd rather have linguine instead of risotto, but that's personal preference. Save room for spumoni- it was so good and a treat as I haven't had it in years. Tried going to another restaurant that had too long of a wait and ended up here. Seated at a high top by the bar, restaurant atmosphere reminded me of Italian restaurants I grew up going to on Long Island. Service was great, our waiter was very attentive. Unfortunately, most food was underwhelming. The mozzarella sticks looked good but were pretty flavorless. The breading was missing seasoning and the cheese was not melted or gooey. The marinara sauce on the side was good. My entree came with a choice of soup or salad and bread, garlic or plain ciabatta. I chose garlic bread and soup. The highlight of my meal was the soup. I love a good pasta fagioli and this one did not disappoint. It was a nice size bowl of soup and it was delicious. I was not a fan of the way the garlic bread was prepared-too much garlic and oil, but it was good dipped in my soup. By this point, I was full but wanted to try my chicken piccata. Again, it was missing something, it was just okay but I did enjoy the risotto. read more

Came in on Saturday 9/16/23 with my two daughters. I called before arriving to see how busy it was; since browsing the internet I found you could book a reservation with Resy, in advance of course. The gal that answered said about 20-25min wait that was perfect since I am about 30min away from the location. Upon arriving it was a packed house but we were seated right away. We sat at a table in the back there were guests all around since it was very packed, noise level was loud, but not overly empowering because I could still hear my kids. For food we ordered an order of the Penne alla Voldka $17 with a soup Lasagna $22 with a Cesar Salad Garlic Bread Cabernet Quality of food tasted good. The dishes were definitely prepared to meet the eyes. Taste was great the first two bites until you really started to get into the dish. My daughter said her Penne alla Voldka was salty (shocker; since she loves salty foods!) My lasagna was salty as well and salty stuff for me really aren't a mix. Nonetheless I still gave it a gander right until I made it to the center and realized my meat, pasta, and lasagna altogether was cold. I ended up boxing the remainder half along with my daughters penne. Bread was good, but way to large and thick of a piece. One would be suffice for three because you can get overly full trying to have just one. I also ordered a cabernet and it was just light. Did not taste full bodied, I didn't have a drink menu to really compare what options were available, but I still drank it. Our server was kind and attentive, as well as all the staff that helped us. We were looking for home made pasta on a Sunday. Unfortunately, most Italian restaurants in the area are closed on Sundays. Poppys was open and we were happy. Our food was good. We got pasta with vodka sauce and lasagna. Although the pasta is not home made, it was really good and we were happy with the serving size. The garlic bread was good, but super garlicky. They offer bread with garlic or without. Next time, we will get the bread without garlic. If you like a lot of garlic, you will love the bread. Our waitress was great. She was very accommodating and was able to explain the menu very well, which helped us to make our selections. This place is so amazing. The restaurant itself is so cozy and inviting. We had great service as well! For drinks: I had a Nicole's Night Out (espresso martini) and it was so delicious. Creamy and sweet. My husband and I had the toasted cheese ravioli for an appetizer. It was so crunchy and the dipping sauce was incredible. Love that it wasn't just a normal marinara. Instead it's more of a rosa sauce. For dinner we had the pork osso bucco and lasagna. Love Poppy's! read more

We've been to both locations on several occasions & the food is always delicious, the service is always great. We love the atmosphere of the new location. The portions are very generous. The garlic bread is awesome. This would've been a 5 star review, however beware they charge a service charge for paying with a credit card. I understand this is an expense to the owner but raise your prices a little to compensate. It's such a negative for me as a customer to see that at the end of dinner. Everyone pays by credit card these days, don't turn off your customers. read more

Been here three times now and I can say the food is incredible. We hosted a work dinner for 15 people and the staff was very attentive and everyone enjoyed their meal and drinks. I'm not a big Italian eater so Olive Garden is my measuring stick, but Poppys is turning me into an Italian guy. A little out of our usual routine, but I'm really glad we tried them. She had Chicken Cacciatore, and I had the Shrimp and Scallop a la Rosa. Between noon and 5:30, they have early bird specials with better prices and a glass of house wine included. Her chicken was tasty with a good mix of olives, mushrooms, and peppers in a sauce that was a little generic, 7/10, and my Rosa was 9/10. Her Caesar salad was also a 7/10, lacking the zip you might find in some Caesar dressings. My bowl of Pasta Fagiole was 9/10 -- far better than most. They were staffed up appropriately and the service was great, considering they were pretty busy at 3pm on a holiday Monday: 10/10. With the early bird special and included wine it really felt like a steal. Value: 10/10. Sooo much better than the chain itaiian options around here and still a better deal. read more

We were staying with family for the weekend visiting from out of town. The staff here is wonderful! Service with a smile. The food was great. Large portions. We had chicken, Parm, chicken, francese , soups, bruschetta, fried green tomatoes, calamari, and desserts. we ordered to go, so the calamari didn't hold up as well as if we'd had it at the restaurant. I have to say the atmosphere and the service was superb at this Poppy's location. The food, well, not so perfect and I'll explain why in a second. Overall, I will probably give it another try, as it was our anniversary date night and I was trying to get lucky. The Poppy's Tortellini presented itself well, but I was taken back a bit when I bit into the shrimp and realized they never removed the tail shell. I was a little surprised because the shrimp and scallops were hidden in the delicious sauce, and I was not expecting the crunch as I took a bite. I had never seen shrimp prepped like this unless I was eating shrimp cocktail where you can actually see the shell. The Pennette Caprese was a better choice, but did not excite me like I was hoping. Our first time in this lovely restaurant and we had a great time. we came in on a Sunday morning and tried out their early bird special, can't beat that deal! Service is good. Although Jorge was not our server but we could overhear him explain the menu really really well to the table next to us (wish we had that lol) The house Cabernet was really good as well as the Chianti. They had a small salad for starters and garlic bread with olive oil. I had the carbonara and my husband had the chicken franchese with a side of linguini. Both dishes we enjoyed. Honestly, the worst food I have ever eaten. My favorite dish is Chicken Francese and that is what I wanted for Mother's Day. They do NOT use chicken. It was 100% some type of "ground" meat, not a chicken cutlet, and was not edible. My first thought was they use ground chicken instead of cutlets but the color and taste was more like ground turkey. Steer clear of this place. Save yourself some money. I wouldn't post pictures with this review so you can clearly see it's a ground meat, likely turkey, but it doesn't give me the option to post a photo. read more

My favorite place to eat :) The meatloaf is amazing. The pasta and gravy is my favorite with a Bolognese sauce, meatball with whole Italian sausage not sliced. The staff is always friendly and Cameron beautiful decor really love the new facility here on 210. The one in in Ponte Vedra is absolutely amazing food just not as high scale feeling. My 24 year old son tomorrow as requested that this be his birthday dinner I'm so excited. read more
