We stopped by Poppy's on a weekday night for dinner because they had a good selection of salads, and that's what we were all in the mood for. We also wanted to sit outside along the water because the view was amazing. Unfortunately, that came at a cost. We were quoted 15-20 minutes for a table, so we agreed. However, we continued to watch people walking in and getting seated at inside tables right away. At the 45-minute mark, I went up to the host and asked just to be seated inside. Suddenly, a table was ready for us outside. Along with another family that checked in about 20-30 minutes after us. A manager swung by soon after we were seated and dropped off a plate of onion rings on both our tables for the long wait (although the other party's wait didn't even compare to ours). The onion rings were delicious, even though they didn't come with any sort of dipping sauce. Before getting the onion rings, we had already decided that we wanted the fried asparagus, so we still ordered them, too. It was a lot of fried food. LOL But soooo good. The salads come in a small or large bowl. Since we had so many appetizers, we all just ordered the small. I chose the Cobb Salad. It was amazing. And very, very filling for a "small" bowl. There were a lot of ingredients, which I appreciate in a salad. If I was hungry, I could definitely polish off a large bowl. In the end, sitting outside was a great experience, and the food was all excellent, but the 45-minute wait sucked. read more

Doughy, flavorless and would never crisp up even after sending it back. Service is slow. We were a party of 8 seated in the smallest corner of the place. We were told no other seats were available. However the restaurant was empty. Not 30 minutes later a party of 10 came in and they pushed all the chairs and tables together to accommodate that party in the middle of the restaurant. The outdoor patio along the river is very nice to see. They allow dogs on the patio and we were very happy about that because we were camping nearby and didn't want to leave our dog at the campground. The servers and all of the staff were very kind and helpful. Our food came out relatively quickly and everything was really tasty and well done. We visited Papi's Pizza & Grill in Estes Park and had a mixed experience that didn't quite justify the price. My bacon avocado burger was $19, and for that price I expected something a bit more memorable. Instead, it was a well‑done patty with a scoop of avocado on the side and no cheese--something I wasn't even asked about. Not awful, but definitely the most disappointing burger I've had at that price point. Didn't care much for the onion rings. My wife ordered the Mexican pizza, which turned out to be very different from what we imagined. The refried beans replaced the sauce, giving it more of a soft, sopa‑style feel. Creative idea, but not what we were hoping for. She did enjoy her wedge salad, and our daughter helped her finish it. My son had a cheese pizza and said it was "OK," which pretty much sums up the whole meal.With the total coming out to over $100 for four people, the value_for_money just wasn't there. Another great pizza restaurant to try in Estes Park! I got the Straziante Individual Pizza. It was spicy, which I like! But I wouldn't say it was super spicy to where most people wouldn't enjoy it. If you have a really sensitive tongue, it might be best to avoid it then. But I loved everything about this place! Sorry to say we had high hopes for this dinner after reading reviews. We placed the order to go and made our way to our hotel about 1.5 miles away. The pizza dough was thick and gummy. I would've ordered a whole bowl of it, if I knew how good it was. However, the sandwich was okay. The bread was what really threw it off. It was so hard I couldn't eat it, so I basically just ate the sandwich without the bread. The pizzas were great and really good sizes. We stopped for lunch at this venue and really enjoyed sitting out on the patio. The view of the river walk area is fantastic, there were even elk on the other side of the river! We both got pizzas and shared a salad. All our food was delicious and came out hot! The menu provides options for different tastes that fit vegetarian and meat lovers. However, the inside atmosphere felt dated and more like something you'd find in a grandmother's living room than a modern restaurant. We ordered a small pizza, jalapeño poppers, and a specialty Coke with lime and coconut, and the total came out to around $50, which felt very expensive for what we received. Customer service was average--nothing memorable either way. If the weather is nice, sitting outside would likely be the better option since it's right by the river walk. This was our first time eating here was sat immediately. The place was super cute and our server was hostess was super nice! I love how the menu is not over whelming! They have pizza selection a burger selection and a sandwich selection! Not a million things to choose from. I don't like when there is so much cause then it makes it hard to choose. I've been coming to Estes Park for over 20 years. Food in a tourist town can be a rough experience. Poppy's is one of a handful of spots I've tried and feel willing to come back to. Today, we arrived shortly after opening (11am) on busy Memorial Day. We were seated right away and snagged a table on the terrace. The terrace is my preferred place to sit - the sounds of the river, the people/dog watching along the adjacent path, and the fresh breeze all add to the ambiance of the dining experience. Our server today was already busy managing all outdoor tables, and she was lovely, friendly, and efficient. I typically order a pizza and today my daughter and I split a small Mediterranean. You are allowed 1 substitution of topping so we switched out the artichoke (I love 'em but my daughter doesn't) for chicken. I forgot to ask for light cheese as the pizzas have a thick layer of cheese. Just something to keep in mind depending on your cheese preference. Toppings are tucked underneath the cheese layer. Our hiking plans had gone awry this morning so we ordered two tall glasses of lemonade to turn the proverbial phrase into reality! :-) Both the raspberry & regular were refreshing and tart. My wife and I have come to Estes Park to visit family living here. After cooking for several days, we decided that pizza was on the menu for dinner. I am so glad we chose Poppy's! This is my in-laws favorite place and now I know why. We ordered a large plain and a large Stratziante pizza ( sorry if I spelled it wrong). Honestly some of THE BEST pizza I've ever had!! Definitely come here for pizza, especially if you have people with different tastes. They offer 8" individual pizzas that can be customized in a ridiculous amount of ways, plus some really unusual specialty pizzas. The room is really cute - exposed brick walls and nice decor along with a nice patio by the Riverwalk, but we wanted air conditioning. We started with a seasonal Limoncello mule which was amazing- a mule with the addition of Limoncello and it was so refreshing after hiking all day. We ordered 2 individual pizzas- sausage and spinach for my boyfriend and bacon, onion and arugula for me. It took awhile for the pizza, but obviously they make them all to order, so it was fine. Got a second round of mules in the meantime but they did not at all taste like the first round. Our server said they were out of bitters, but it tasted much more like a traditional mule - maybe they forgot the Limoncello. The pizza was amazing. Crust was crispy and chewy, red sauce delicious, perfect amount of cheese and plentiful toppings. I will say also that I had one slice I had to take with and it was still delicious as breakfast the next day. This used to be one of our favorite places in Estes Park. It was a huge disappointed this evening. The waitress was incredibly unpleasant and the food was subpar. We were a party of the 5. They got one of our pizza orders incorrect. The waitress put it in the computer correctly, but the kitchen decided it needed cheese even though I didn't order it. One other pie had so much garlic on it, it was completely inedible. Then to add insult to injury, a Large pie with basic ingredients - cheese, basil, onion and spinach cost $44!! Then a medium pie cost $35.50. If the food was delicious, maybe, but it was far from good. So disappointing! We will not be back. read more
