Had a great dinner here during a weekend getaway. Small location in a strip mall. Family had the grilled cheese cheeseburgers (Par 5) that they couldn't stop talking about! At some point in time, someone sat down and asked how do we make sandwiches more exciting, and someone suggested that they make the toothpick more festive, and added a colored frill. Now let's be real, I'm eating a sandwich, y'all don't need a fancy toothpick; I'm already ecstatic. Especially because more realistically, at some point in time, someone asked how do we make a successful restaurant, and someone suggested that they serve delicious food. And that's exactly what Poppyseed does. Our first visit was after a hike through the Eternal Flame, and we had developed quite the appetite. Stomaches rumbling we called for curbside pickup, and were told that we would have to give them our card info over the phone, as they weren't handling change for fear of contamination. We rolled up to be handed over a black bag, takeout containers inside. They passed it through the window, and I let it warm my lap as we drove the half hour home. Once we got back, I noticed that the containers are reusable and microwave safe. Bonus! I've stashed them in my cupboard, and have actually used them many times already. Sure, not to house sandwiches, as I can't cook to the caliber of these chefs, but they are a good size, and can fit a nice amount of food. They didn't let any space go to waste, with their ample portion sizes. My paunch was stretched in a satisfied arc. For my meal, I had ordered the Muddy Shoes burger. That thing is heaven in your mouth. I've had many veggie burgers in my day, and their spicy black bean patty is head of the pack. It was topped with red onion, lettuce and tomato, though I asked for the alfalfa sprouts to be placed on the side. I don't prefer strands in my sandwiches, or as it turned out, at all. The sandwich stands tall without them, and doesn't even need a sauce to stay moist. It even held together for the majority of my devouring. There was a puffed quinoa salad paired with it. As a quinoa novice, I found that the dish grew on me. My mate got the Macho Man ciabatta. He said that there was plenty of steak, sliced into quarter inch bites. The grilled onions, like mine, weren't underdone or charred. There was a puddle of pepperjack cheese melted over a sweet accent of stuffed pepper spread. In both of our containers we found that we had been gifted pickles. And not spears, no, a legit whole pickle. Let me go put on a hat so I can tip it to you, chef. We had agreed to hold off on revisiting and reviewing until things opened back up post pandemic. But his boss had gifted us a free meal, and our original plan was still closed for Covid, so we thumbed through the menu again, and went for our second choices. This time we both got wraps, and man, I may need to start stretching my jaw before these trips to make sure I can anaconda my way around my lunch. (Tiny mouth, big appetite. Not a great combination.) My mate got a Popeye, which he so rudely inhaled before thinking to take a picture. I can't blame him, as we had opted to park and eat this go around, to see how the food was right out of the kitchen. We noticed that there was now outdoor seating, and probably could have asked if it was alright to partake, but it would have required putting my valley soggified shoes back on, and I was quite content in my seat. The only downfall was our lack of plastic ware, as he poured the dill dressing onto his salad. I personally opted to save mine for chips I had back home, and we both concurred that it was stellar. His sticky fingers picked up his garlic herb wrap, biting in, eyes twinkling. (Unless it was the sun, though I'm going to credit the food here.) He said that he wasn't much of a spinach guy, but that wrap could make him one. Every bite had a hint of black olive, not overshadowed by feta, and the tomatoes were plump. He described the chicken as tender and juicy, his go-to happy words, and upon prompting about the marinade, remarked that it did leave the chicken succulent, melting in his mouth. I opted for the Portobella wrap. With its diced tomato and shredded asiago, my brain's pizza buzzer went off, blaring contentedly. The tomato wrap and pesto furthered the buzzing, as I attempted to dig in without spilling any on my shirt. I won, with every last morsel of balsamic mushrooms (oh boy, so very many of them) made it's way into my mouth, having not makeshifted a bib out of the bag this time. Had to have somewhere to dispose of those salad carrots, because I cannot be converted over to the orange side. I did however enjoy the rest of the salad, with its garlicky croutons and surprise chickpeas. I should have held off on reviewing to describe the ambiance, and as an excuse to try our third choices, because this place has plenty of plate clearing options. But let's be honest, when the food is this good, you're gonna come back. read more

Updating my review to 3 stars from 2 previously. We visited over the weekend and I was happy they had a vegan special- the Blizzard. Vegan chili served over rice with crispy flour tortillas. Also got a side salad w/vegan dressing. It cost $50 for two of us which is very pricey considering what we ordered, but we both enjoyed our meal. Sad to see the regular menu hasn't been updated at all though. Original review below: The staff at Poppyseed are just plain wonderful- happy to answer any questions you have and even replying promptly to inquiries through FB messenger. I love that there's a separate menu section for vegetarians, but wish vegan menu items were labeled as well. They did have one vegan special of the day when we visited Friday, but it was a salad (and to be honest, I eat a salad almost daily so it's not something I order when I'm out). I ended up getting the ciabatta gorgonzola without cheese or artichoke spread, but with hummus instead. Our food arrived very quickly. My sandwich was ok, nothing spectacular; and if I'm being honest, a little soggy. My boyfriend got the reuben and said it was pretty good. There was nothing wrong with our visit or the food. The service was great. It's just that the menu didn't thrill me and neither did the food. I won't avoid visiting, but I probably won't make an effort to come back unless there's a little menu update. read more

Holy expensive! Food was good, place was cozy, service was decent. I don't know that the price is justified in the product. I feel everything was $4-6 more then it needed to be. Don't get me wrong it was all good, but nothing super memorable. We got the humus as an appetizer. It was good and came with carrots as well as pita. Tasty but nothing special. I ordered the Sante Fe Dirty Rice and it was good. Lots of peppers and a good amount of chicken. It came with an abundance of fried chips which I avoided due to lack of flavor and overall unhealthyness. Good portion but again, overpriced. Might be back, might not. Just came home from a wonderful dinner with work friends. Commiserating is always a stress reliever for me! Lol Anyway dinner was so tasty, I'll be craving this sandwich for sure. It was the winter special roast beef with portobello mushrooms OMG!! Cheese, a horseradish sauce on the side and au jus. With these very crispy cheesy tatie tots. Sorry no picture again. This place really is a gem and I've always enjoyed my visit here. They've got a wonderful menu with loads of options but where they truly shine is their home made chicken ala king. It's unlike any I've ever had before and it's so tasty I can't get enough. Service is always fantastic and the prices are great too. You can tell they care about the quality of their food and making a good product and I've never had a bad experience. This is a wonderful place to come for any meal of the day (though I've only been for dinner thus far) with plenty of tables and room for all. I've been many times and I'll be back many more. It's been awhile since we've eaten here, but the quality is most definitely as good as it ever was! We came after Christmas in the Country today and it was so delicious! The menu for lunch is mostly sandwiches, wraps, and salads. There were so many fun sounding salads that I needed to go that route. I ended up on the April Shower Salad, and I loved it. It was spinach, goat cheese, chicken, dried cranberries, candied pecans, grilled onion, and mandarin oranges, which I got left off because I don't like them in salads. You can pick from a big variety of dressings as well, so I got the balsamic vinaigrette. The warm chicken made the goat cheese all soft and melty, and I loved the savory and sweet elements together. The grilled onion was the clincher for how good this was. There were SO many toppings too so it was a hefty salad. All salads come with warm pita, which I didn't eat because I just wanted to eat that delicious salad. My husband got the turkey club and fries and my mom got the Jamaican chicken salad, and they both really enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend coming here! read more

Love to see a full restaurant, always indicates good food ! My husband had the shrimp with peppers , mushrooms and onions in a buttery garlic sauce which he really enjoyed. We came in later, after a long movie. Even though they were slated to close at 8 pm, and it was 7:45, they seated us and were very kind and welcoming. Place was full. Lights were low, booth was clean, and they got us a beverage and menus right away. We ordered burger variety plates that were attractive and delicious. Burgers tasted homemade. Waitress was very attentive. Prices were reasonable, and food came out really quick. We enjoyed stopping in there, and will definitely be back! read more

This deal sold out today so we were very lucky to get two orders. It was delicious! The marinated chicken is amazing, there is so much flavor! I've reviewed this place before. It is truly a wonderful restaurant. Portion sizes are massive, which usually means crappy food however not in this place. I normally get a pasta dinner. Last night I opted for "The Muddy Shoes" sammie. Exceptional! Came with a quinoa salad which was to die for. There was heat, there was flavor, there was crunch and there was sweet. I've never had a burger that was so flavorless and uninspired. It was like eating in a middle school cafeteria.

This is a rare vegetarian heavy (but plenty of meat and fish options too) find in the middle of a strip mall across from Mckinley mall. Food is served in very generous portions with tons of cheesy flavors! We have the Baja Chicken and the Four Cheese plate. Each plate comes with soup or salad - we had the veggie chili (with jack cheese) and the French onion soup. The pasta dishes were gigantic and well worth the $17 per plate. There is enough for at least 2 if not 3 meals. I had to take more than half of my pasta plate home for leftovers tomorrow. If you are vegan or vegetarian or have other dietary restrictions or preferences, this places accommodates kindly. They are quick to modify and don't give you attitude for your preferred tastes. I was very appreciative of their patience. Service is outstanding. Our waitress was very nice, suggestive of food options, responsive to our requests and frequently checked on us. What a quaint restaurant! Very small and cozy. Mom and Pop feel most definitely. I was actually on Yelp looking at pictures of food and the Cranberry Turkey wrap caught my eye, and did not disappoint! On a toasted herb wrap, they so delicately roll warm turkey, walnuts, cranberries, Asiago cheese and topped with a delicious cranberry mayo (It's even pink as if the amazing taste wasn't enough). We only just discovered this restaurant a few months ago and I'm so disappointed we didn't try it sooner. When we are looking to go out for a salad, this is definitely at the top of the list. My fiancé always gets the popeye chicken salad, and the only reason he doesn't finish it is because he wants to take it home for a snack an hour later. Today, we got the hummus and tapenade as an appetizer (the second time we've gotten this) and it was just as amazing as the first time. I can't get enough of the tapenade, and the pitas come out so warm and slightly toasted. We had to ask for another order of them because we loved them so much. I first went to the Popyseed on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I had a french onion soup and a turkey, walnut, dried cranberry wrap. The french onion soup was interesting. I think they much make their own croutons from all the different breads. I didnt fininsh my turkey wrap and unfortunately forgot my leftovers. I went again more recently on a Wednesday evening and it was busy. The menu here is very extensive. You kind of need to decide what you are in the mood for and then just read that part of the menu because it is LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I had the Firecracker Wrap off the specials menu this past week and i liked it alot and would totally have it again. I also had a cup of the beer cheese soup and i was less impressed. The food is good here, but their location needs some work. The tables are not stable at all and the booths are horribly uncomfortable. It is also very very loud and does not make for a relaxing environment. I hope they consider moving to a new location soon, i would go there much more often. read more
