While staying at the New York Athletic Club, Pop's was recommended as the place to go for a quick bite. Just a short walk from the Club, Pop's offers that classic New York slice of pizza. A small space with no seating, but counter space to enjoy a slice of heaven on thin crust. Quick service gets you saucy, cheesy, flavorful and the perfectly sized slice of pizza to eat as is or folded in half. I know there are a lot of pizza places in NYC, but there is a reason Pop's was recommended to us. It's a great representation of what everyone thinks of when they think of a New York slice! Before you try anywhere else, I dare you to try here first!

You have to really stumble into this by chance to find it. Google/Apple Maps is just smothered by so many good pizzerias in Manhattan. Pop's is also smacked right in the middle of the business district, it seems very unassuming to find just a diamond in the rough. The price of a plain slice is competitive. What you get is a crispy, thin, saucy and right amount of cheese. It's not too salty and it's not too floppy. This, right here, is a New York Slice.

pretty good. the flavors are there. good amount of cheese. the pepperoni was kind of floppy.

Margarita - it freshly came out of the oven so we ordered it! However, it wasn't super hot just warm and I think if they heated it up again right before serving it would've tasted better but since it was fresh I think they didn't and assumed it would be hot since we saw them heat other pizzas lol. Nice thin breading, cheese was good but a little harder (needs heat), it had a nice garlic flavor in every bite maybe through a garlic oil? It made it a tiny bit too oily but flavor was good. Sauce was very good and on the sweeter side 3.5/5

Pop's Pizza was ok. It's really more of a takeout or eat on the street type of place. The staff wasn't very welcoming. No greeting, just very transactional, not really friendly. The pizza itself was fine, but nothing that would make me go back, especially with so many stronger options in NYC.

Pop's Pizza 3 Buck Slice - Great size and crust, but otherwise little flavor

Excited to discover this "hole in the wall" Pop's Pizza, around the corner from Columbus Circle. The slice looked great and size for $3 bucks in this neighborhood was a good deal. My fresh basic slice came out quickly. That being said, while the crust was excellent for a classic New York slice, the rest disappointed with barely any flavor - possibly only faintly of cheese. (Perhaps just a bit more sauce or seasonings in the sauce would help!) As is, Pop's Pizza's cheese slice is world's worth the extra compared to one of those $0.99/1.50 awful options you may find close by! For me, I'm likely to opt for something elsewhere.

Close to the park and as good as it gets for a low key, sidewalk slice. We were at the playground in CP and yelped what was the best pizza around and this came up. We also noticed that several families had whole pies from this place at the park so we knew it had to be good. My son still talks about this place. He isn't a pizza aficionado but he likes what he likes and he loves this place. My wife got a slice she liked so much that she got another one

This place rocks! Awesome NYC style pizza, quick service, friendly staff. If you need a quick late night stop to refuel, definitely hit up this spot.

Really good pizza spot that was near where I was staying. Highlight for me was the cheese slice as it was delicious despite its simplicity. Great chew on the crust as well. I also got the buffalo chicken which was also pretty good if you're into that type of slice. Finally I also ordered the pepperoni square slice which was okay. While the crust was good, I felt the dough to sauce/cheese ratio was a bit too much on the dough side. For me I'd stick to the slices. Definitely will be back next time I'm in the area!

Love the idea of a fast NY style slice...but to put it frankly, other places do it better. The cheese here tastes a little too artificial and the undercarriage and crust were inconsistent from slice to slice. And it made my iron gut upset, which is no easy feat.

I was visiting a friend up near the park and I was hungry and wanted to grab some pizza. He had recommended this place because he said it was fast and I've never heard of it. It's a very small spot with a walk up counter. There was a little bit of aligned and really, no space in the place. The workers are super fast and they are pumping out a lot of pizza in here. They did have a lot of different varieties, but I just went with the pepperoni and the cheese slices. The cheese slice was three dollars, which is not terrible for New York City at all. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Definitely a hidden gem that I would try again.

[Food] - Vodka Sauce ($6.95): Yum! Crust was thin and crispy. Sauce was perfectly sweet and savory! [Service] - Friendly & helpful [Ambiance] - A small little shop where you order inside, pay, then pick up at the other window under a small canopy [Overall] - Would come back again to try their other slices!

Solid pizza place and one of the most affordable bites in an otherwise pricey neighborhood. The vodka slice I ordered was $6.50 after tax, a great deal considering it spared me from a bout of hanger. There are a few standing tables on the sidewalk outside but no seating. Pizza was a little oily for my liking but tasty.

The shop is small, classic, and exactly what you'd expect from a traditional New York pizzeria. They have one side where you can order whole pies and another for slices, which keeps things moving. One thing to note is that there isn't any seating, so be prepared to enjoy your pizza standing up or take it to go. It wasn't the most comfortable dining experience, but that's part of the classic NYC pizza vibe. As for the pizza itself, it was definitely good--fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. That said, with all the hype, celebrity visits, and its famous appearance in Spider-Man, I was expecting to be completely blown away. For me, it didn't quite live up to that level of excitement, but it was still a solid slice that hit the spot. Would I go back? Absolutely. It's worth trying at least once when you're in Times Square, and I'd stop in again if I was nearby. Overall, I'd give Joe's Pizza 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
