Arrived around 2 pm, the place was busy. Tables on the patio, and inside. There is a section, off to the side that has Italian sodas, a couple of different Italian beers, a variety of sauces and fresh and dried pastas. I ordered 3 sandwiches, average price $18! a sandwich. It is a higher price point than the chain sandwich shops. I get home and 3 boxes. A sticker on each box to let you know what sandwich was inside. I opened the box to find this massive sandwich. The bread looked similar to the bread in Florence. The meats and cheese were piled high. The Calabrian chilis gave the sandwich a great touch of heat. They sandwich was so big I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner. We thought the sandwiches were dry. My daughter added red wine vinegar to her sandwich, I should have added olive oil, to my sandwich. Unfortunately the ear piercing construction, when I ordered was ordering was off putting. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending a beautifully hosted dinner and wine pairing event. the entire experience was amazing. It's my own fault. I ignored one of my cardinal rules. Never go to a restaurant unless or until they have been in business AT LEAST SIX MONTHS. This is to give them a chance to iron out the kinks/issues. There will ALWAYS be the kinks/issues with new restaurants... just the nature of the beast. Not anyone's fault. It's just a rite of passage, I suppose. In any event, I ignored my own rule, and I got what I expected. A disappointing experience. However, I will certainly give them some time to clean up their act and get their _ _ _ _ together, but if after that time, I still get the same issues, we will have a permanent parting of the ways. For now, though, it's a wait and see game. So here's what transpired... We ordered the Porcellino Chop (Salad). It was SUPPOSED TO HAVE iceberg lettuce, radicchio, pepperoncini, red onion, garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes, Caciocavallo cheese, with a red wine vinaigrette & oregano. We asked for the onions to be kept separate and placed in a separate container. What we got was a salad COMPLETELY VOID of any garbanzo beans or cheese and paid $17 to have TWO KEY ingredients missing. Strike ONE. Strike TWO was that while they did place some onions in a container, they also placed onions in the mix of salad ingredients, which we asked them NOT to do. And then, strike THREE was that the vinaigrette was waaaay too vinegary and way too salty. The dressing was so harsh, we couldn't finish the salad because the dressing had already been mixed throughout the salad. Next, we come to the sandwiches. My husband ordered the polpetta panini, and I ordered the pollo parm. The polpetta included meatballs, pesto sauce, melted mozzarella, pomodoro, and salsa verde. Strike FOUR - my husband's sandwich was completely missing the pesto and salsa verde. My husband said he loved the bread, but the other items were without a lot of flavor. My sandwich SHOULD HAVE included chicken parmigiana, melted mozzarella, tomato sauce, and salsa verde. Instead, strike FIVE, it was completely void of the salsa verde and mozzarella cheese. Are you kidding me with the cheese? As for the tomato sauce, strike SIX, it was completely void of taste. Don't just heat up tomato sauce out of a can... how about seasoning it, so it has amazing flavor? The chicken parm had a little flavor, but it could've used more, and we won't even talk about the lack of cheese. Because ours was a take-out order, it wasn't like we could have had the food immediately returned to fix (most of) the issues. We had brought it all home only to then realize the mistakes. We weren't about to schlep back there, so we just dealt with it. And because it was take-out, we have no idea if they simply weren't paying attention OR if they had actually run out of all those missing ingredients. I've seen a few Yelp reviews citing them for running out of key ingredients. This would be part of their learning curve, and if they are reading this review, I would please ask them to PAY ATTENTION MUCH BETTER - - - and - - - INCREASE THEIR AMOUNT OF INGREDIENTS ON HAND, so that the orders can be made with the ingredients THEY list. There is simply NO EXCUSE for running out of things. Lastly, some of their food was seasoned, and as with the vinaigrette, it was too much, and some of the food wasn't seasoned at all, notably the tomato sauce and pomodoro. It was uneven, and I was so disgusted by the lack of flavor with the tomato sauce, I just ate the chicken parm even without the cheese present. Again, I knew there might be problems attempting to try this place so early on, and that is why they got three stars from me. That was me being generous because if this happens after considerable time, I can assure you that star award will drop to 1 if this doesn't improve. This is a story that will be continued. Been very excited in anticipation for this place as we're desperate for a good sandwich place here in Simi, other than big corp places. Today was the Grand Opening. They have a lot of kinks and systems to work out, understandingly. It wasn't crazy busy at the time so I excepted customer service be a little better than it was. Average at best. Not their fault but the design of the place isn't the greatest with the POS/Ordering so close to the door, which creates a log jam when a line starts. It took 25min to get two sandwiches. Both sandwiches were absolutely fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for in an Italian deli. We got the Mortazza and Rolodino. Looking forward to walks up for Espresso and trying other things in the menu. They have some really nice Italian items and great condiments to purchase as well. read more

I'm stoked this place opened in Simi Valley. It's tucked away in the corner of the center and there's indoor and outdoor tables. The guy that takes the orders is super cool and helpful. The Bambino sandwich is to die for. High quality Italian meat and the bread is homemade and Legit AF! I also had a chicken parm sandwich and a meatball sandwich and these were really good but not spectacular. This place is solid and I will continue to go back and I really hope it lasts. read more

Tried this place for the first time today and was impressed with the customer service and the food. My husband and I split 2 paninis: the paradiso & pollo parm. Porcellinos is by far one of the best Italian delis that could have opened in simi. Went on opening day and they were sold out way before they even closed! It's suck a cute little deli makes you feel you're in Italy! Went the next day very early and we got our sandwiches and OMG the bread is so amazing and fresh. The whole family loved this place we tried the meatball, chicken parm, bambino, prosciutto and all were super super good!! 1000/10! There's a reason why they keep selling out! Absolutely amazing!! I waited two months for them to open, even followed them on social media & kept checking back to see when they would be open. I finally had today open to try it. First, it was busy because you know what it's great! And good things come to those who wait! The space is super cute, so for anyone complaining I would kindly say, please check yourself. I have grown up in Simi my whole life & frankly we need a place like this! Let's support businesses like this instead of nitpicking every little issue. Enjoy a drink or buy the offerings they have in the little store section while you wait. That's what I did! Yes, the place is tight but that space which was already that way before they occupied it, has a unique layout. They totally make it work! So good for them! Second, order the #3-the bambino! It was so fresh & homemade tasting! The bread is so so good! My gosh, I devoured it! Third, because I was waiting for my to-go order I was able to watch the whole vibe! What I witnessed was the hardest working people who really seem to have so much heart! And on top of that they seemed genuinely happy. Finally! Simi Valley has its very own authentic and delicious Italian sandwich shop and deli! This charming new space in West Simi is a fantastic addition to Simi Valley's food scene. I love the green awnings and the charming cafe chairs- so cute like you're in Italy! The sandwiches are much of the menu, but there are appetizers and lasagna that also looked fabulous. Fresh baked daily focaccia bread is the heart of each sandwich and it is just the most incredible texture. There were lots of choices for cold panini that looked delicious, but our fam went for the hot chicken parmigiana panini. The serving size was hefty! The chicken parm inside was perfectly cooked- crispy exterior and moist tender chicken inside- and the delicious marinara and melty cheese on top. Next time, I really want to try one of the deli sandwiches with fried zucchini in it or maybe the muffuletta. We also got the Porci pinsa, which was a white mini-pizza with mortadella, salsa verde and pistachio drizzle. It was subtle and the crust was delicious and perfectly toasted. When we go back, I'd love to try the other flavors too. There was also a Bianca pinsa and a margarita. They had some yummy Italian imported sodas and a peach nectar, which was like drinking a fresh peach. No high fructose corn syrup here! :) On the left as you enter, there is a mini market filled with charming goods from Italy fun to peruse as you wait to order. Service was friendly and helpful. They are a brand new business so still working out some details and timing, but everyone is doing a great job. Behind the checkout, there are some drink choices- Italian wines by the glass and espresso based drinks too. When friends visit Simi, I can't wait to introduce them to Porcellinos. We have visited Pocellino's twice since they've opened and we love it. The food has been great, the first time we got the harvest salad, the chicken parmesan sandwich, and arancini. I loved everything we got, the salad is so fresh and very filling with a light vinaigrette. I'm a true lover of arancini and these are excellent. The sandwich was great as well. The food is high quality and tastes great. It's small inside but there's seating outside as well. They have a small marketplace area with Italian imports. I heard from a friend a few months about about this new restaurant in town and I was excited because there's zero good Italian food besides my kitchen in Simi, let alone in Ventura County or even LA County. So today hubby and I finally tried it and very sad to say I'm disappointed. When you enter the restaurant it's very crowded and no one to greet you and you aren't sure which line is to order for dine, they seat you, or to pick up to go orders. After seeing the what seemed to be new restaurant staff and the flow we were in the correct line. The prices seem very high to me but still have it a try as I was assuming it was tasty homemade Italian goodness but I was wrong. $60.00+ for 2 sandwiches, the small pasta salad, 2 drinks. Crazy! But again was hoping the pricing was due to the homemade goodness and yummy flavors. Again I was wrong. I love a good chicken parm sandwich which is what I ordered. I also love meatballs and wanted to try but figured I would see how the sauce is and would consider to a second visit. The cutlet seems manufactured and not a fresh piece and neither did the breading. Not crispy at all. No flavor of any kind not even a hint of fresh sautéed garlic. The sauce aka gravy was bland and they had to cover it up with lemon pesto which isn't a authentic chicken parm sandwich. The cheese also had no flavor. Bread was okay. I also got the small pasta salad which was dry and no Italian dressing of any kind on it. No diced onion either. One piece of salami about the side of an inch by inch. Hubby got the Capocollo di Martina Franca sandwich. He said it was very salty (the meats were) and it was just okay, cheese no flavor. He actually said the OG at Jersey Mikes was way better and half the price with chips and a drink. Lmao A woman next to us ordered lasagna and I couldn't believe how small the piece was for the price. I can make an entire homemade pyrex for that price with meatballs too. The ambiance was good for a lunch spot and they have a patio but is pretty packed in. The flow of the place is crowed and needs some feng shui. Italian-American (not from Italy) rainbow cookies are commonly known as Tricolore, Venetian cookies, or seven-layer cookies are my favorite cookies of all time! I'm from a place that has real Italian bakeries and when I go home first stop is Bella Napoli's for cookies! I was hoping Porcellino's would have these. They do but sadly they have the fake ones you can get on Amazon or I've heard they also have them in Walmarts. Prepackaged not fresh. Guess I'll have to make a sheet for us. Anywho, I might go back to try the meatballs but since I didn't smell any roasted garlic it's kinda hard to decide on this. After hearing decent things about Porcellino's we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, don't waste your time or money. We watched the food prep and I was disappointed to say the least. The arancini was pulled from the freezer and thrown in the fryer. While the outside texture had potential, after covering it in sauce, they fell apart, were soggy, and lacked flavor. The meatballs were reheated, dry, cold in the center, and were bland with no identifiable seasoning. The lasagna was pulled from a tray under the kitchen island. It was placed in a porcelain bowl, covered in plastic wrap, and microwaved. It tasted as though the wine had not been cooked out of the sauce. Stauffers is a better choice for the money. The bambino panini was large, but was just a sandwich on bread...not a panini as described. The best part of our meal was the margarita pizza which was made fresh. 3.5 stars not 3. First time trying this place today and ordered 3 different paninis, but they're actually Italian subs. Nothing wrong with that, but if you are expecting a pressed panini it's not that. The flavor is good, but has potential to be better. Like any other Italian place the prices are not cheap, but that's expected especially with Italian ingredients. Still, a small side salad or some kettle chops on the side would be nice and not just simply the sub. The decor is super chill and relaxing with a lot of seating. Maybe try giving the option of warm pressed bread might make a difference. Will probably come back to try something else. read more

I actually think they have really good food but honestly the prices are nuts for a take out place. MY husbands chicken parm sandwich was $22 and my lasagna was $24. Then I had a burrata salad and I think it was like $16. The total was $65ish with tip. The lasagna was firrrre though. For simi this is one of the best italian places around but if you drive 25 min you can go to made in italy for similar prices and have a nice sit down meal. We sat outside because inside was so crowded and the ambiance just isn't there tbh. Also, the "market" part of the store is questionable. I expected more like Alpine deli in TO which has a large selection and rows of items. This has like a small corner of items. Kind of disappointing. I can see they dedicated more area to seating but I would lovvvvve to see more European items especially now that world market is closed. The inside is so cute and has Italian kick knacks, jams, and spreads to buy. The staff was extremely friendly and we met the wife of the owner and she was so so sweet! We cannot wait to come back and try the meatballs (they were out when we came) and other food :) Everyone in the 805 should try this place out. I was really excited for this place to open. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. We ordered the chicken Parmesan, lasagna, and a Caesar salad. When you walk in, the space feels extremely crowded and uncomfortably hot -- it was actually hotter inside than it was outside. When I placed my phone order, the girl who answered was very quick to hang up and never even took my name. When I arrived to pick up the food, there was a long line, no clear place to stand, and it was still extremely hot inside. I told the girl at the counter I was picking up an order and explained that my name wouldn't be on it because the person on the phone hung up before getting it. I described my order. Then the cashier asked me again what I ordered -- making it the third time I had to repeat it -- and then asked if I had already paid. Yes, I paid by card over the phone. I also asked for Parmesan cheese and was told they don't provide it to-go. When I got home, I noticed the Caesar salad was packed in the same bag between the hot lasagna and hot chicken Parmesan. The dressing was already mixed in, which made the salad completely soggy by the time we got home. Typically, dressing is packed on the side for takeout, but that wasn't the case here. The salad ended up in the trash. As for the food itself, it was very bland and lacked flavor. For $65, the portions were small. I wouldn't mind paying that price if the food actually had flavor and better quality. The chicken Parmesan was eaten halfway (mostly just the chicken), and the lasagna was finished mainly because my husband was hungry. Unfortunately, I won't be returning -- not for $65. ******UPDATE AFTER REACHING OUT TO THE OWNER TO SEE WHAT SHE HAD TO OFFER ME AND ALL SHE SAID WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE?? I have been to Porcellino's 4 times now. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant from the amazing, friendly staff to the fantastic food. Everyone is so friendly, answer every question with excitement about their food and engage in conversation checking on you often. They make you feel like family. I am gluten free and to be able to order a Margarita Pizza with crust that tastes so good that you question if it's really gluten free is exciting. I've been 3 times just for that pizza. Today I decided to branch out and try one of their many sandwiches on the gluten free bread. I was nervous because gluten free bread never tastes good and you end up eating grainy, soggy bread. I was so pleasantly surprised! Their gf bread was a flat bread that was so good, held up well and didn't taste gf. To enjoy a sandwich again, that tastes great really made my day. The turkey, pecorino Romano cheese and artichoke hearts on my sandwich were so fresh and delicious. I cannot wait to come back and try the other sandwiches. They have a good happy hour menu from 3-6pm and great outdoor seating. I can't say enough about this place! read more

Went today for the first time and loved it! Super fresh and authentic. My husband got the chicken Parmesan and loved it and I got the Condadina veggie sandwich and it was delicious! The bread is so soft and flavorful and I loved that the Caesar salad had anchovies on it! They have a cute little market with a ton of Italian groceries and pasta and desserts and we got cannolis to go! Can't wait to go again..next time we will bring the kids and get a pizza. read more

UPDATE 4/12/26 I am a regular weekly customer and was looking forward to trying the charcuterie board and a glass of prosecco. While the items were tasty, I was disappointed. The board ($26) consisted primarily of cheese and fillers, with only five pieces of meat. An employee came over and asked me how the charcuterie was and when I mentioned this, I was told the ratio depends on 'who the chef is.' I think this item needs to be standardized for consistency so you know exactly what you will receive. That much cheese and there were three small pretzel shaped crackers on the plate. That's it, and no bread. I love the food here , but will likely skip this item in the future. Also, with regard to the Prosecco, it was served in a small white wine glass and poured to fill less than 1/4 of the glass. The person who poured it was pouring it slowly and eyeballing it and said that was the standard pour of 6 ounces. That was NOT 6 ounces. It wasn't so much the amount and how little it was...It was the way he was pouring it so slowly and eyeballing it like he was gonna get fired if he gave the tiniest little bit more than he was supposed to. This was $12 which is pretty much what the bottle they were serving cost. Yes I know restaurants greatly increase the price, but this was a short pour. I've ordered Prosecco many times elsewhere and it was served in the same glass and I never received that short of a pour. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from going here, the food is fantastic and people are nice but if you're gonna charge $26 for something, it's a good idea to ensure it looks like what you're advertising on social media and don't short pour. The pictures below show the charcuterie board I received (left) and (right) it is what is on their social media advertisement. Major difference. Since I don't enjoy eating cheese without any kind of bread or crackers, I left that and some of the other things on the board. Also, due to so many people having an allergy to nuts, they might want to put in the menu that it contains nuts or have whoever is taking the order ask. this is why I knocked off one star.
