All of what was ordered was perfect and beautifully plated upon arrival and out of all that was ordered, I have to say the chicken and waffles with their matcha butter & syrup was their standout dish. I have never seen matcha infused with butter but it was perfect and complimented the waffle just right. The chicken was fried and juicy inside and the waffle in general was toasted with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft interior. French Toast was a definite close contender too, where the toast was still gooey soft as expected and served with syrup & cream on the side. Salad was good but nothing too extraordinary about it. The staff here were all very nice and on a busy lunch day, I was surprised & pretty sure just lucky was able to get a table in less than 10 min on a Sunday. For weekend brunch, Horsefeather is a perfect spot to visit & enjoy the pre-afternoon before enjoying Palo Alto. Chili oil made multiple appearances across dishes. Halibut tartare, milk bread, cocktails and dessert were excellent. Cons: We asked for the outdoor propane heat lamp to be turned on. Waitstaff struggled to turn it on, though this seems universal at any establishment with these types of heat lamps. They ended up replacing the propane tank underneath, but didn't try to turn the lamp back on after. There seemed to be staff miscommunication throughout the night. We were asked multiple times if we had received certain courses yet. We didn't have a copy of the menu at that point so if we missed a course, there's a chance we wouldn't have known anyway.... The table next to us also opted for the discovery menu, and waitstaff brought out a duplicate dish to them on multiple occasions only to walk it back. Multiple dishes were meant to be shared, so you would potentially need a lot of cutlery. However, waitstaff would place up to four! sets of forks/spoons on the side of the table in advance. They would also spend time to balance the fork on top of the spoon, which of course came undone once the table moved at all. This was a little awkward and took lot of table space. This was in addition to the main cutlery placement. Food wise, a melon dish felt unbalanced flavor-wise due to extremely sweet cantaloupe (peak season!) overpowering the tajin-like broth it came with. The beef striploin course was overcooked to well done, pictures included. There were six slices total, the two pictured were representative of the rest. In daylight, the sun pouring through the glass can be too much, with little protection. At night, the lights, trees, and fountain create a much more enchanting and beautiful atmosphere.
