    Portillo's restaurant

The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the staff. When it was my turn to make an order they were very helpful. I ordered the cheeseburger and the Dr. Pepper milkshake. I thought the cheeseburger was okay and I enjoyed the Dr. Pepper milkshake. It was thick and creamy. It was delicious dessert to finish my meal. The restaurant was not busy so we were able to receive our order quickly.

I have to write, everytime I come in I am never dissappointed ever. I have tried almost all their meat and sausage sandwiches then tried the cheeseburger...WOW, phenominal, large patty tasted like it came off an award winning chefs grill. They even look better than the menu pics. You are missing out if you dont stop in here. Great comfortable place inside as well. They dont ask for a tip and you can self order at kiosk when you walk in or you have the option to walk up and order from a great employee which is even better. Love this place.

Everything about my experience here was great! I had the best spicy chicken sandwich of my life, WOW, it was good. The onion rings were the bomb also. I highly recommend Portillos.

Things started off pretty rough with the unresponsive order kiosk. I had to start my order over twice because I couldn't get the screen to move up or down. Super lame. Restaurant was pretty clean, not super clean. They announce your pick up number over a muffled speaker which is almost unintelligible, so you really have to watch the screen. Overall, eating in the restaurant is a fairly cold, corporate experience. But I have to say, the beef sandwich was really good. Fries were solid too. Maybe ordering online and eating at home might be the play here. Go for the food, not the atmosphere or customer experience.

I had never heard of this place until I saw it on my way to some shopping in Katy. I was a little hungry so I decided to stop by for a quick bite before heading home. The food and service was good. My only complaint is that when I went to find a table to sit at, many of them had not been wiped down. I had to take a napkin and brush off some crumbs that were left on the table/seat. To be fair, it was later in the evening so maybe it was after a big rush, but it wasn't busy at all during the time I visited so there should have been no issue with property clearing and cleaning the tables. The decor was plentiful. There were many interesting things to look at and snap photos of. All in all, it was a decent experience. Would for sure visit again.

Service was great, location was huge, but place wasn't the cleanest. The floors were super sticky and the drink/condiment station needed some tidying up. The food came out hot, fast, and was delicious. It was my friends' first times there so I recommended the Chicago dog of course.

A food writer, whom I truly respect and who taught me so much had a couple of rules respect to reviewing a restaurant. The first rule was "give a place at least three months to get going before you visit so that they can iron out the kinks". Second, visit at least three times because you need three times to really evaluate and critique a restaurant well. And so today I returned to Portillo's at the Katy location to give it another try, after a fairly awful experience on my previous visits. Let's see how they do today. Sometimes, we love a particular type of food because that is what we grew up with. I've often joked that if an alien landed his saucer in Texas and had his first Tex-Mex combo platter, what with all of its salt and garlic powder and oily cheese he would probably say "what the heck is this?" But those of us who grew up in Texas think nothing of enjoying a big old Tex-Mex combo plate with enchiladas, rice, beans and guacamole. Whenever I visit a restaurant, I wash my hands before dining so that if I were to have any kind of reaction, I would know that it was not from any bacteria that I might have brought in. Today there was one of the staff inspecting the men's restroom when I walked in, and I complimented him on doing so. "Thanks for checking on the cleanliness of the restroom today. I know it isn't the restaurant's fault when men urinate on the floor because they think their penises are longer than they actually are, but it's always a good sign when a restaurant has set a standard for inspecting the restrooms on a regular basis throughout the day." My $20 meal today consisted of a Chicago hotdog, a regular Chicago beef sandwich and a chocolate cake shake. So I had the opportunity to taste test a little bit of each. Still calorie counting so it was just a taste. And here is my opinion. First. I skipped the fries. Because they are just the standard crinkle cut, frozen, grocery store type fries, and not worth the calories. Second. Sit outside. It is really noisy even when there is no one here. Loud music. Lots of reflective surface. Next. The shake was "okay". Nothing special. Tasted like a Wendy's or Burger King shake. The hot dog was prepared authentically and was "okay". It had a "bite" from the casing. I liked the shaved beef sandwich. The beef and bread were good. You might want to add cheese to it. So. I don't need to return. I didn't grow up with this kind of food, but I suspect that if you did, you are going to look forward to dining here. Everything was prepared well today, unlike the previous two times, so it looks like they've gotten their kitchen together. I will say that I think their pickles are good.

Went out to Katy on a weekend to try this new spot. While it looks 100% the same as the other locations, it is new and really cool inside, with a vintage car and auto related theme throughout the interior. My friend and I ordered the Italian beef sandwich and she got hers with the sausage. While tasty, I've noticed that Portillo's sandwiches (and not just this location) always come out soggy. I don't know if it's something I'm doing, or if there is just too much juice rolling out the bun. It's a bummer since the bread is so good. The crinkle cut fries are solid. While service is limited, the faces were friendly and helpful.

Return the very next day after my Yelp Week visit. It was THAT GOOD! Warm Thank You to GM Toby for inviting us back, and putting me on this "real slice of cake" in my milk shake! You are truly gem to Portillo's. I thought Portillos was just hot dogs, and sandwiches. I had a fried chicken salad which was good. Yesterday was Great, maybe because it seems as it was two chicken strips, and next day felt like one. My favorite is the onion rings! And I don't even like onions! But I'll eat Portillo's onion rings over their fries Every-time. Yes the salad comes with a side of fries or onion rings. The lemon cake milk shake was world famous!!! BEST milk shake I've ever had!

When I hear the name Portillo's, I'm immediately awash with warm, fuzzy feelings from my many trips to see family in Chicago. This Windy City-based chain offers what I genuinely consider America's third-largest city's top culinary exports: the Italian beef and the red hot. I can't count how many times I've set foot in Portillo's, but I can recall always leaving the eatery stuffed beyond belief with a smile on my face. So when the news broke that the Houston area would be home to at least two branches, my excitement went through the roof. Now, I can get my beef fix without having to catch a flight to Chi-Town, even if I have to travel more than 60 miles. As of the publication of this glowing review about the Katy location, there are four in Space City. Portillo's Katy has been open for about a year, but my birthday two weeks ago was my first time there. I didn't need to browse the menu over the counter because I already knew what I wanted: a Big Beef done hot, sweet, and wet with fries. I even added a red hot dragged through the garden to the mix, just as I used to do at the Portillo's locations up north. It felt like welcoming back an old friend when I carried the tray with my orders to one of the booths I chose. I must say that despite being a Texas outpost, Portillo's Katy succeeded at making both the beef and the red hot as similar to their original counterparts in the Windy City. Knowing it may be a while before another visit, I slowly savored every bite. It felt like a dream come true. Just like its sister stores about a thousand miles away, this Portillo's earned lots of positive marks from me, from the food to the customer service and even the facilities. While Portillo's may seem like a novel concept here in Southeast Texas, I have high hopes that it will succeed in this part of the country.

Italian beef & sausage combo with onion rings...very good!

FINALLY! The new location in Katy has the Chicago Italian beef/sausage combo sandwich. It was really good and tastes close enough to the original back home. Thanks to YELP I was able to participate in the event to get a free sandwich combo meal. I was a happy girl too...LOL. Although, since Portillo has franchised some same it's not as good as it is back home and I admit the taste has changed a bit since it's been sold by original owners. But I'm okay with that and glad they made it to Texas. Nothing is the same as it was many, years ago due to the price of food these days. But it's nice to introduce Texan to my home tome favorite sandwich and I have it available here in my neighborhood when I have a craving for it. SO GIVE IT A TRY AND ENJOY!!

I was excited to finally try Portillo's. I was working in Katy and needed to grab lunch. You can order in a computer. I ordered a plant-based hot dog and chocolate cake. While I waited by the pick up station, James gave me a drink cup and said, "Drink's on me." That was nice. I chose iced tea. There's sweet and unsweet and they have fresh lemon slices. The tea is ok. The plant based hotdog is small but tasty. The chocolate cake is tasty. It's given to you in a box even if you will dine in the restaurant. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. This place is affordable. There's plenty of free parking.

Katy, TX 77449 / AMERICAN, CHICAGO-STYLE / 03-09-25 / LUNCH, 2 adults and 2 kids +The customer service at this location is amazing. The manager really runs a great operation. +The food was delicious. The Italian beef sandwich is a must-get. +The little one enjoyed the chicken sandwich. +The salad was great. -The loyalty rewards program needs a lot of improvement. The systems (including kiosks) don't integrate well with their apps.

Let me start by saying I've been here multiple, multiple times & I've never had any food items that weren't good. I always get breakfast (even if it's lunch time) so I don't know much about the lunch items. Not only is the food outstanding with a creative twist, it's consistent. Over the years, the place has expanded several times so now there is a decent amount of dine-in seating in addition to the outdoor seating. The place still stays packed but with their wait list in advance/text notification system & efficiency in seating customers, if there is a wait things move along smoothly. Additionally, anyone who is waiting knows it's worth the wait!! The service staff are friendly. The atmosphere is homey & they decorate for the various holidays & seasons. Owner/chef Lori is always walking around asking guests if everything is ok. On at least 2 occasions she happened to chat with me/my guest about some dietary restrictions & she whipped something up for us to try. My go-to dish is the harvest breakfast where you can pick 4 breakfast items from a list. This is a great way to sample more menu items. Here's my take on some of my favorites: - Sourdough pancakes are thin & really delicious. - Belgium Leige waffle is very sweet with the pearl sugar "nuggets" in them so taste them before you add a lot of syrup. - Scrambled eggs are well seasoned, not bland. - Avocado & tomato or the fresh fruit are nice light touches as one of the side item choices. - Fried chicken tenders are really good. Spice level 3 (medium) is not that spicy. It's flavorful. - Grilled chicken tenders are good. As much as I typically eat grilled or baked chicken, I allow myself to choose fried for these. - Grits are creamy. I get them with no cheese. I'm not a big grits person but I do like these! The menu is very extensive. It includes vegan, vegetarian, keto & gluten free. Is the breakfast a little pricey, the answer is "it's all relative." Sometimes it's just worth paying for a great meal. In case you haven't gotten the message, Harvest Kitchen is a must try. Do yourself a favor & have a visit. I'm betting it will stay on your list as a repeat eating spot!! Tips: - Use the text message wait list & signup before you leave your house. - You can always get 1 pancake on the side for $5. - 15% gratuity is included at checkout, as you pay you'll get options for an additional % or custom % like 0%, 3, 5% or more.

So we decided to try the burgers during this trip. I will say this, I will never order another burger at this restaurant. We are huge fans of fresh hamburgers, and we always try them at most restaurants that we go to. So we got a Hickory burger, a bacon cheeseburger, and a regular cheeseburger. All of our burgers were well done to the point that they were hard to chew and they were not tasty. Normally at this restaurant, food comes out very quickly, but this time it did take a little longer and now I know why. I was very disappointed in all of the burgers and how they were really way too well done. The restaurant was super busy and we should've said something, but we did not because we had been waiting so long. We just did not want to wait any longer. The french fries were super hot and fresh, I will give them that. I think at this point, we will stick to the chicken tenders because those are super good, but the burgers were not good at all. Again, we really enjoy this restaurant, but we are going to stick to what we normally order. If you order a burger at Mia's table, make sure you tell them that you want it done medium, and not well done. Other than this experience, we have always loved the food there and you get free ice cream after your meal. We highly recommend the chicken tenders and the baked beans are phenomenal. The green beans are great. The banana pudding is great and the staff is super friendly.

It's simply a very efficient service system and very pleasant if you're a customer. You get warm food. In my case I had hollandaise with Salman underlying it, which was very good. They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 330. The brunch menu is huge. It is not a super large menu, which I feel very endearing. We decided to try the bagel and lox with cream cheese, the Buzz burger with fries, and their homemade chips. They start off by bringing you this beautiful craft of bottled water. That to me was an amazing bonus. We also ordered two sodas which came in a can. I sort of wish it was a more of a fountain drink than one can of soda for the price. *Now service was super slow. However, the waitress did come and tell us that they are running a little behind and she apologized for it and she was super sweet, so that made up for the weight. How do I known how long it was going to take, I don't know if I would've stayed, but in the end, the food was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend is a hamburger snob and he kept saying how good it was how fresh it was and how perfectly cooked it was. They serve you shoestring fries that feel like they're double fried and they were phenomenal. My bagel was toasted perfectly and had a very good amount of cream cheese and lox. As a Jewish girl living in the area that I do, it's very hard to find good bagels with lox and cream cheese. I will most definitely be back for this sooner than later. The homemade chips took quite a while to come out, and at one point I was ready to say we don't need it, but these potato chips beat Buccees beaver chips, 100%. They were super fresh and very crunchy and tasted amazing. I will definitely recommend those to anybody that orders some. My boyfriend then ordered a tropical sunrise smoothie and it was so tasty and tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie. Now once again that did take a long time to come out and at one point, we were wishing we had not ordered it but once we did get it, it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is not very large and it's the perfect brunch spot for anybody looking for a smaller Cafe with very good choices.
