In all fairness there is a lot of good lunch competition in the immediate area - Pei Wei my love, Berryhill, Cafe Express, La Madeleine, Dairy Queen, Taco Cabana, and so on are all within a stone's throw of each other. The Potbelly downtown has an epic location in a sea of nothing-good-nearby and they also have booths to stretch out and do work in, meaning it is not super noisy. This one is super noisy. I feel like I need to get out the bullhorn just to get heard. Pei Wei next door is never that loud. The food is the same derivative you get at any sandwich shop. Nothing to write home about, but it definitely fills you up, and you come away with a cheaper lunch than many of the other nearby places can offer. read more

Although this place might not be cheaper than Subway or have as many different sandwiches, something about it would make me choose Potbelly over Subway any day! Besides the really cool automatic hand sanitizer spray (don't miss it!) and the cute booths, I LOVE the T-K-Y skinny. It's filling despite the "less bread" and it's like a bread wrap! It had been a few years since my last experience with Potbelly. The only memory I had was that their biggest push was for their peppers. I am not a hot person so was never turned on by the concept. I always joked with my gf about if you eat at pot belly you'll have a pot belly...consequently we never ate here. But recently, we were in the area and needed a quick bite so we decided to give it a try. Their menu has changed drastically, with way more emphasis on healthy, with most of the calorie counts on the board. On this day my gf and I had the mediterranean add chicken size big on multigrain and tuna salad size big on multigrain. Both sandwiches were just blah. I enjoy healthy eating as the next person, but they were just bland. Doubt I'll be giving potbelly another shot anytime soon. read more

Mmmm Potbelly, how I love thee! The only thing I have ever tried is the Turkey sandwich. I get mine the Original and have it thin-cut, which cuts out 1/3 of the bread, then I get double meat and add provolone instead of swiss. I get the works on it (except mayo, cause it totally disgusts me). They toast the sandwiches here and they are so freakin' good! Blows away Subway, which to me is like the McDonalds of the sandwich industry. They have great dessert (although I haven't partaken in years) ... the dream bar is to die for and they have great milkshakes! They also have soup, several other sandwiches, and salads, but I have no idea what they taste like since I only get turkey. LOL! read more

I kinda wish there was a way to give them 3 1/2 stars. There's nothing special about the taste of the sandwiches at Potbelly. Like someone else said, it's better than Subway, but what isn't. We eat lunch here about once every 4-6 months when we're nearby. We rarely make a special trip like we do to most other restaurants we frequent. It's an order & pay at the counter and take it to your table place. In the past we've gotten their skinny meatball loaded. It's better than just OK but it's not special. Today we got the same sandwich on their new flat-bread. I like it better than the bun but I found it hard to eat without the guts spilling. I wanted to like their pizza sandwich but no go. There's an error in Yelps accommodations list for this place -- they do deliver. UPDATE: We went here yesterday. The fixin's station has always been slow but this time it was ridiculous. There was only one other table seated and only one person getting a sandwich. Our sandwich was dished up promptly, but . . When we got to the fixin's station there was no one there. The person ahead of us was paying out. There were 2-3 other service people there but they were just wandering around like we were invisible. My wife got disgusted and went to a table. while I waited for 4-5 minutes until the person who had been checking the other customer out came back to fix my sandwich. Then when I got to the register there was no one ringing up. One of the people wandering walked up to the area immediately beside the register and, with me obviously waiting to check out, began ladling soup. After standing there for about a minute I held up my credit card and said "When can I check out." She stopped ladling the soup and checked me out. So, with five employees behind the counter and virtually no one in the shop I spent 5-6 minutes standing around waiting to be served. I made a pick up order online. I live about 15 minutes away and left shorty after placing order. Ready time was 6:35pm. I arrived at 6:37pm to be told they just saw it come through and still had to make order. It didn't take long to get it out to me. Then had to drive 15 minutes home. The shake I ordered I drank on drive, it was pretty good. 4 stars. Mac and cheese tasted like garbage!!! Tasted old, to possibly rotten/bad? I had 2 bites and tossed it. 0 stars. I stopped for lunch, this is my second time at this location. Both times I have stopped by the tables have been dirty. Today I was one of the first in the door during lunch so there was no reason to have dirty tables. They also did not have the soda dispenser ready. Great service and great sandwiches! The hubby had the Crazy Eight Bigs ($7.60 and not on their menu). It's a combination of their Italian sandwich (capicola, mortadella, pepperoni, salami, & provolone cheese) with A Wreck sandwich (salami, roast beef, turkey & ham with Swiss cheese). I got Italian Originals on thin-cut multigrain wheat bread ($4.60). I also ordered strawberry lemonade, which wasn't on their menu. The guy there was very sweet and said they didn't have that drink, but that he'd pour strawberry juice in my lemonade. That was a plus in my book! :) For dessert, we had the Sheila dream bar ($1.40). It's made of brown sugar, oats, caramel, and chocolate chips. We also had the brownie cookie ($1.10). The cookies are made fresh daily! This place makes a mean sandwich. The menu is not out of control, by offering every combination under the sun, like you might find in other sandwich establishments. I personally like the Skinny and Thin options. That's Genius, in that you still retain all the flavor of the sandwich as it was designed to taste without all the calories and guilt. And if you are so inclined to know what that guilt adds up to, you're in luck, because the caloric content of just about everything is posted on their chalkboards. I have had a love affair with Potbelly for a good 3 years now. As a native Houstonian, it just blows my mind that some of my favorite places in Dallas... like Potbelly and McAlister's are just now finding their way to my beloved hometown. I was slightly worried when I had to park all the way over in front of the bank, but apparently most of the cars in the parking lot were all eating at Pei Wei next door. There was a line at Potbelly, but it moved very quickly, as has been my experience in just about every location. Rebecca ordered the Chicken Salad "Skinny" on White Bread. I had a "Skinny" Wreck on Wheat. What's this skinny stuff I speak about? They actually dig a lot of the bread out to make a tunnel. Not only does it take out 1/3rd of the carbs... it also makes a perfect holding ground for toppings so that they don't fall out when you eat your sandwich. I had two side orders of the Macaroni Salad (aka, Elbows swimming in Crack). I am addicted to the Macaroni Salad. Rebecca got a potato salad and a cole slaw. They were both good, but the potato salad was the overall favorite. And, can I just say that I LOVE restaurants that have non-normal sodas like RootBeer and Cream Soda. Especially, IBC Cream Soda. YUM. To finish off our meal... I had to be the cruel best friend and buy one of Potbelly's amazing Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. I used this location to cater lunch for 12 people and it was so easy and everybody enjoyed their food. They have menus on their website that you can pass out to everyone that ask all the questions for you and completely take all the guess work out of it. I ordered it online, chose the time I wanted it to arrive, and they delivered it hot and fresh right on time. They drove out to Pearland no problem, and the woman I spoke with when I called to double check their delivery zone made it sound as if they are pretty accommodating with their "approved" area. Super convenient, great to have in my back pocket for last minute lunch emergencies. My review is based on catering. I LOVE to order from Potbelly! They have online ordering or I can call to the store. Either way, I always get exactly what's ordered and on time. The gals are extremely helpful and always offer suggestions when needed. My favorites are the Uptown chicken salad and the Mediterranean. I'm not a vegetarian but the Mediterranean is the one sandwich I can eat where I am completely full and satisfied! I have eaten in the store before. Always appears clean and never a huge crowd. You order at a start line and walk down as they make your food so you can go through toppings if needed. We tried out Pot Belly for the first time in years. When we walked in the place had an awful smell. We asked if they had a sewage leak but they said they had just emptied the grease trap. I'm not sure why we weren't asked if we wanted hot, but either way hot tuna salad The other sandwich was a turkey club. I thought it was a cold sandwich but it was in fact a hot sandwich, no biggie, I can get over that one. However, I took one bite and literally spit it out. We asked about one of their menu items and was told they no longer have it because it was too popular. What a stupid thing to do. The server was not friendly or helpful. We decided against ordering anything else after seeing all the trash on the floor. We actually went back a few months later thinking we would give it another try but found the same dirty conditions. I have a Potbelly right by my work down in the Tunnels that I frequent once a week. It is so good. My wife does our finances and sees this charge on our check card on a weekly basis and asks what's so special about it. She had never been before yesterday. We were at the mall Christmas shopping and did not want to eat the junk that they have in the food court there. We left the mall about 1:30 and went hunting for somewhere for lunch. Saw Potbelly and so that's where we ended up. The fun stops there. First off, with all of the construction it was very difficult to get to. Finally walked in and place was empty except for 3 people finishing up lunch. I ordered my usual ham and swiss and my wife ordered the meatball. Once we sat down she took about two bites and she was done. Said it didn't taste right and meatballs didn't taste or look cooked all the way. I told her I would take her sandwich back and get her a different one. She said no that it was pretty much ruined for her. As for my sandwich it just wasn't the same. I can't really explain it but it just tasted off. I only ate half of mine before we threw in the towel. First time for my wife and it was no good. I told her to come downtown and I will take her to the one by my work. I am not sure if they don't have the volume due to the construction or what the deal is but this Potbelly was definitely not the same as the one I go to downtown. read more
