Yeah, so I stopped by here twice and that will be it. The first time I went in I did not get acknowledged by the 2 employees working that day, which I found odd since I was the only customer in at the time. The second time, I again did not get acknowledge after standing in line after the customer before me. The employees just let somebody cut me in line after she just walked up to the counter ignoring us. So there is an issue that has to be worked on here as far as customer service & organization goes. Well anyways, here's where it gets bad. So on the website it clearly states and shows the bikes listed as "in-store". So I go there after eyeing 3 potential bikes I saw on their site. First off none of the bikes are clearly there after examining their minimal stock "in-store". So the rep on the floor that I had to engage in conversation first(not the other way around), tells me that they can order the bike I like and it usually takes about 2 weeks to come in. So he rushes me to try a similar bike from the ones I want to see if I like the feel. This part of the conversation consisted of the employee saying while I test ride the bike he'll get on the phone to see what bikes can be ordered now. Well long story short, the website and the rep now got my hopes up. But only to tell me that they won't be able to get any of these bikes until 9 months from now. So I ask him can he check what's in stock at their other location. He quickly tells me they have nothing there either. So I'm pretty much out of luck here and I leave a little bummed but calm. I then phone the other location just to see if the rep at Poway was just not interested in helping me. And sure enough the Del Sur location has one of the bikes I was asking for. So pretty disappointed in the lazy effort that took place at this Poway location overall. That's still not the worse part. The whole reason I felt the need to even write a review here was because while no employees wanted to acknowledge me to begin with on my 2 visits there, after finally being able to talk to the floor rep there's an employee that "works" in the back on bikes(i guess) that annoyingly would butt into our conversation with non-funny one-liners that was really unnecessary and came off disturbing & disrespectful. Not sure who told this guy he was humorous, but he needs to shut up and keep working on those bikes back there OR if he wants to talk then he could of started by showing some customer service to begin with. read more

Got my mountain bike fixed in one day here. Prices are reasonable and they do excellent work and only fix what you ask them to fix. Careful, there are other really expensive and less scrupulous places out there. I'm not mentioning names but Black Mountain Bicycles wanted to have me do a $150 tune up before fixing my brakes and that was without even seeing the bike. Stick with these guys - a small bike store that has a great mechanic. read more

Santa brought my son a new 24" bike. I put it together the day before Christmas and found the tube had a hole in it. I should have came here first but nooo. I went to Walmart on Christmas Eve and it was a mess and of course they have a ton of tubes, all the same size, 26"! Ended up a few other big box stores before coming here. They had the tube, lots of parking. Was in and out in 2 minutes! Learned my lesson. read more

Went in earlier today to get a tube for my wife's bike. Sucks they did not have one but waiting around for over 20 mins when the store had 4 workers and only 1 helping a customer, that sucks even worse! We walked in and there were two workers (#1 and #2), helping customers at the counter...no biggie. When one customer was done the worker (#2), made a beeline to the back...never to be seen again. Meanwhile the guy (#3), working with a bike on the bike stand, just looked at me and smiled. Not once asked if we were being helped even though we were standing in line at the counter. So we waited for the other worker(#1), to finish with the customer who was at the counter as we walked in. After a few mins passed, another worker (#4), walks out of the back, looks at us waiting and another person who just came in. Never asked any of us if we were being helped, just pulled out his cell phone and made a call as he 'looked busy' screwing with another bike sitting on the floor. I will never go back for anything. Not worth my time. I understand being out of stock of items...fine, but when only 1 worker is helping out while the others are hard at work looking busy...total B.S! read more

The team at Poway Bikes is incredible. They have never let me down. service has always been on time and on (or under) budget. This is the only shop I'm aware of that offers such a selection in price point. Entry level - advanced, they have it all. Purchased a Yeti ARC C2 from them a couple months ago. I contacted them the first week about two issues with the bike. The bike will not back peddle without dropping the chain in the big ring on the back and the POS fox seatpost has been touchy from day one. Of course when you mention these issues to the front desk staff you get the eye roll and the "let's see what your doing wrong" comment. Sorry... did I forget to give you my resumé prior to the purchase of a 4K hardtail? After two times bringing the bike back to the shop the "head mechanic" finally looked at my bike, of course he found no issue. The very next ride out in the mountains the rear cassette had absolutely nothing to do with keeping the chain on one chainring and the freehub completely stopped being free which managed to induce chain suck on the front chain ring resulting in a nicely gouged frame. T I brought the bike directly to them from the trail, gouged frame, rear cassette that no longer would spin freely, and got the blonde kid behind the desk who could not figure out for the life of him how that had happened. I was reassured by one of the mechanics that the "head mechanic" had taken the rear cassette and freehub apart and found nothing wrong with the rear wheel cassette freehub. Upon further review the 'Head mechanic" had found the freehub body to be not properly assembled from DT swiss. We always have time to fix it right the third time. By the way they completly dodged the frame gouge issue. Now...on to the seatpost. I have let the POS fox seatpost go, writing it off to being just the way it is. The post is interment at best. If I leave it down over night it will not extend without lifting it. While out riding, sometime it works, sometime it doesn't, but everytime it is extended it needs to checked for full extension. You say...doug how is this an issue. well I have brought this up to them from the first week of blissful yeti ownership. "We" have cleaned, oiled, and properly torqued this seatpost multiple times. "We" being the front desk guy and me. However, as to be expected when I go in the seatpost work just fine. Well not anymore, the POS Fox post has now left me stranded roughly 10 miles out. The post just stopped staying up. Cable is still connected because it will extend but put any weight on it and down it goes. I can push the post down by hand now. Mind you im out riding right now...and with no tinkering, messing with, or anything the damn thing just will not stay up. I have contacted poway bikes and am still waiting for a response on the seatpost. I can tell you that nobody in the store can make the decision to warranty the seatpost. It seems that there is a magic space that the bike shop employees disappear into for adult guidance on all matters outside the realm of "its your fault" we can schedule an appointment for you to pay for us to fix it. I understand that my review is lengthy and not quite sure if its them, or the bike, me or the combination of the three. But I can say that the condescending attitude of the younger front desk staff and mechanics are the reason for the review. Not going to post my career field resumé, or racing resumé but I will say I've been riding longer than most of them have been alive. However, I would assume that when a customer orders a $4000.00 hardtail you would make that assumption. Thank you and I look forward to the bike shop contacting me. ****Follow up... I was contacted by the bike shop and they totally took care of me. Luis swapped out my seatpost. We discussed the above issues and I am a completely satisfied customer. We ordered a Kuat NV 2.0 from this company. it arrived damaged. We emailed pictures of how the rack arrived. Never got a response to the email. So I sent a text message to the number given in the web page. I get a response my claim is under review. Twenty two days have went by with no other response. I've tried emailing and texting again. Still no response. Now were stuck with a new rack that is damaged. Poor customer service. read more

Took my bike in for the first time not knowing an appointment was recommended. The mechanic willingly accepted my bike and even answered questions about other bikes in the shop. He took time to pull bikes out and answer any questions my wife and I had. They text me a few days later letting me know my bike was ready for pickup days ahead of schedule. I bought my bike here last year and decided to upgrade both brakes, left the bike with Scott on Wednesday and was told it should be done by Friday 6pm, since I told them I have a ride on Saturday at 5am. Bike didn't get done until Saturday 3pm. I asked Scott to not break the lines on my old brake lines as Im going to use it on my other bike. When i picked up the bike on Sunday, the NEW brake lines were very long and wasn't trimmed (Im assuming Scott got confused) good thing Quinn was there and trimmed to the right length and tuned my front derailer too. I thought when i dropoed the bike, i asked to do a courtesy brush/maintenance, but it wasn't done...its ok. If it wasn't for Quinn trimming the brake length I woukd have just given 1 star. read more

We brought my bicycle in to have the tube on the front tire replaced. They said it would be $35. That seemed high but we were already there so we said ok. I asked him to tighten the handlebars and he said it would be an extra $5. I was surprised he was charging extra for that but I said ok. Then his manager (owner?) came out from the back and said he needed a special tool for that so he said $20 to tighten the handlebars. I was shocked and said forget it, just do the tire. We felt like we were being ripped off. We asked how long and he said he would call me when it was ready. They didn't have anyone in there and I only saw 2 bikes there for repair. He waited until the very end of the day to call and say it was ready. The next week we took my bike down to Rei to be looked at because I fell a couple of times. They tightened the handlebars and said it didn't need a tuneup and only charged $12 and tightened all of the bolts on the bike. I vote for honest vendors. Never would take my bike back to this place. They tried to take advantage of our age and lack of expertise. read more

I went in there because I had two flat tires and I noticed some girl employee who would welcome white customers and even thank them for shopping at their store except she did not seem to courteous and welcoming to my Mexican ass! As the store closed it was me and other customers walking out and she individually said thank you to everyone except me. Oh well. Screw you. However, the surfer looking dude was really kind when I was paying and some other skinny kid was also cool. But that one skinny white girl needs to learn to be courteous to EVERYONE. read more

Wouldn't let me drop my bike off for a general maintenance since I didn't book an appointment in advance, not sure when that started or when a bike shop turns away a new customer. I rarely write yelp reviews, but I left feeling very satisfied. Vinny was awesome and super patient as he helped me on the spot after I had some problems with my bike. Taught me a couple things that I didn't know about the mechanics of my bike as I'm a beginner Mt biker. Minus one star because my bike had some problems from the beginning and it was tough at first to get in and to fix it, but the other four are for Vinny's excellent customer service and going above and beyond in helping and explaining bike stuff. read more

I have only gone to this shop twice so far and this is a great shop with very friendly staff. I had a bike shop I used to go to years ago but unfortunately they closed. Now that I'm riding again I am happy that not only is this shop close to my house the staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. The first time I went in was to get 2 new tubes installed on my road bike and was happy with the fast service and price. Today I went in because I bought SPD pedals and spent way to much time trying to take my regular pedals off myself with many youtube videos watched trying to trouble shoot. I eventually called the shop and Elijah answered and said to bring it in and they will take care of me, So the next day I did and was greated by Vinnie who popped off the old pedals and installed with Elijah my SPD's FREE OF CHARGE!! My carbon Cannondale frame had broken. The shop I bought it at said that there was nothing they could do. I found out that Poway bicycle was a Cannondale authorized dealer and took it to them to see if they could help. They got me a brand new frame from the factory at no cost. I did not buy a bicycle here. The review is for repair services. Usually I repair my bike myself. Only if job is too complicated, I go to bike shop. I used their repair services 3 times. Once I had a brake that was set improperly. They fixed it successfully. Second, my foot brake in a cruiser bike got loose. They made it worse and I ended up buying a rear wheel and replacing it myself. Third, my crank broke. I gave them a crank to replace broken one with, which they did. However, in the process they ruined my crank ball bearings. I don't know who they employ for repair, but this fellow is surely not a pro if he can't fix a single-speed cruiser bike, which is the simplest. read more

These guys are great. I had a broken spoke on my mountain bike and went to a couple other shops to try and get it fixed and was told that it was going to take up to 10 days because of the large back up - due to the pandemic. Worse yet, none of them even had the right spoke to sell me so I could just to the repair myself. These guys were able to make a custom one for me (in just about 10 minutes while I waited) by cutting a similar one to the proper length and then threading it with a special die tool. Bottom line was $1.84 for the spoke, they sent me on my way, and I was able to fix it myself that same day. I almost felt guilty because I felt like their time was worth more than that - but it was A+ customer service and I am happy to give them an excellent recommendation. You don't get treated this well very often these days. read more

Poway bike shop is great. They have a wide range of bikes and equipment and will have what you need whether you're riding a $100 department store special or a $10,000 top of the line machine. The owner, Luis, took care of us when I wanted to buy mountain bikes for my wife and I. He made sure we knew what was worth paying for and ensured we were happy and set up to enjoy our new bikes. Lots of other bike shops I've used roll their eyes if you aren't an expert and cater only to the elite rider, not Poway, when I was in there I watched the team happily repair a flat tire for a Disney princess themed children's bike. At the same time I felt comfortable they knew exactly what they were talking about as my wife and I ordered high end mountain bikes that each cost more than my first truck. The team of mechanics obviously knows what they're doing (Eric was awesome when helping us cut down our handlebars) and plenty of very experienced riders frequent the shop (just check out their Thursday night shop rides to see what I mean). Gives the shop a great vibe. I'm stoked I found Poway Bikes and will be taking my bikes to them from now on. Thanks Luis! read more

When you call them to set up an appointment or ask a question all you get is a pre-recorded (long) message with no body answering and no way to leave a message. There is an instruction to use their online web interface to schedule an appointment, but after 5 days I've not received a response. I guess they feel it's OK to expect customers to stand in line in front of the store and practice social distancing before you can expect help. Store is very busy due to Covid-19, but I'll remember how I'm treated during these times and use this bad experience to remind myself how poorly they handled my business when times are different. This is their new larger location located just down Poway Rd in the movie theater plaza. The customer service has always been great here. They're personable and don't come off with an elitist attitude. I haven't bought any bicycles or accessories here but I do bring my bike in for servicing. They pretty much are able to perform any service you'd need done on a bike. I've brought my old mountain bike in to have the wheels trued, components installed and the derailleurs adjusted with no issues. Their turn around time is quick and they're usually able to complete the jobs within a few hours. They seem to treat their repeat customers well and one occasion gave some additional discounts on a big combination of jobs. read more
