I took my best friend out last night and she suggested Prank. She's been here a handful of times but it was my first time. We were fortunate and found street parking (circled once and found someone leaving) but there are lots in the area. The two in the immediate vicinity of Prank are $20, but there are cheaper lots if you're ok with walking a little bit. It's an indoor-outdoor bar and you seat yourself. While it was chilly outside, there are plenty of heaters outside and we actually ended up taking our coats off. The service was really great, all of the staff was friendly from the bartenders to the bussers, even security (idk why but so many security guards at bars be mean as hell lol). We started off with the Passion Fruit Kamikaze, which is a cocktail that you can split with a friend. This was so good that we ended up going back for another one later. We then got the Blood Orange Ginger Mule. I thought it was great, but my friend found it a bit too sour for her liking. For food, I ordered the Build-A-Pranky burger and added cheddar and a side of fries. My friend ordered the boneless chicken tenders and split my fries with me. My burger was delicious. I nabbed one of her chicken tenders and it was really tasty. My friend ended up taking the tenders to-go and commented that the tenders would be good over rice, and I definitely agree. I paid $102, for both of us after tax and an 18% gratuity, and I don't think that's bad at all for DTLA. I'd definitely come back here again. read more

I really do enjoy the bar service - very similar to Formans in Toluca lake where you order at everything at the bar and they give you a number. Thursday night probably more packed around happy hour.. I got there a sound 630 so people were starting to leave. I haven't really tried their food in forever but I did get their respresso martini that was a fun, smokey and different. Prank was a last minute find after a photoshoot and we're glad we stumbled on in. The atmosphere was chill I appreciated the openness to it. We came for brunch: Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles did not let me down nor did the Mimosa Kit for only $25. Brunch for two only came up about $60. Not bad. The reason for my rating..... I pay very close attention to detail. Where they sat us down at inside was nice but the tables looked like they were not the cleanest. My wife and I ate here last night right before an LA Sparks game at the Crypto.com arena. It was a short walk, only a couple hundred feet away. I ordered shrimp skewers that were incredible. A strong pepper flavor that went very well with the shrimp & veggies that were on the skewer as well. Chicken skewers were ok, not bad but not as good as the shrimp. The sauteed broccoli was surprisingly good. It looked like the type of food only my wife likes, veggies with soy sauce but it was fairly sweet. I would be more than happy to come back next time I'm in the area. I normally don't tip at all when I go up to a cash register & order, but the bartender who took our order was very helpful in explaining to my wife what the options were for drinks & appetizers, I threw in five bucks. For what it's worth, the food inside crypto was priced a bit cheaper, but the stands we saw, had just greasy basic burgers etc., so I'm glad we took a few minutes to get a nicer meal and sit down in a more quiet spot. Basketball arenas are loud. $67.43 for all the food above, plus soda & tea, tax, & the $5 tip. Yeah, you read that right, we went to a bar and didn't order alcoholic drinks. :) Not bad at all. I came her for Saturday brunch and had a really good experience. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and attentive. We were checked on so many times, and that was really assuring. The mimosa kit is a must. $25 covers a bottle of champagne and a small jug of OJ (or grapefruit juice). What's cool about this set up is that you can go at your own pace and don't have to worry about tracking down staff members or feeling rushed. You get a lot of glasses out if it, too. The food isn't not bat all either. I ordered the Lucky Dog and that was a great choice. It's a huge linguica sausage on a big bun with peppers and onion rings. Super filling. I think I may have found my new favorite bar in DTLA... I came by last night and had the best time ever! It wasn't too crowded due to it being a Sunday night so that was a good plus. I ordered a couple things on their happy hour and regular menu. Everything was super delicious, like really good. What I ordered: -El Pranko Salad -Prank Spicy Cauliflower -Truffle Fries -Ahi Poke My favorite would have probably been the truffle fries and their salad. The portions were HUGE too for the salad and fries. They did forget to put in our truffle fries, but once we did tell them that we had ordered it but it had never came out, Kat made sure to bring it out ON THE HOUSE. Thank you for that girlie! Our server Kat and Rachel were the best and made sure that we were constantly checked up on even when it started to get more packed. The security guard, Frankie, was definitely on my A list as well. While I was using the restroom, my friend had went out real quick for a phone call and left my bag unattended. I came back looking for my bag and there he was holding onto it safely for me. Thank Goodness for PRANK BAR! So happy they were open late. Could NOT believe El Cholo closes at 9! (but that's for a different review.. lol). Anyway, we had gone to the Dodger game and we wanted food and to walk around Downtown LA and stumbled on this gem. The servers were very nice and accommodating. The Bartender Brendon, was super nice. I'm not down with Prank, sorry! We had absolutely horrid service from beginning to end. To clarify, it wasn't that the staff wasn't nice...except their 'bouncer', he was terrible. He grabbed a Conan bracelet my friend had and ripped it off her hand. Yep, that really happened. When he tried to grab mine, I yanked my hand away and said Uh, no, not gonna happen. Sorry, but he had no right to touch my friend. Now the servers were very friendly and nice, but they forgot our food order 3 times, it took 30 minutes for draft beers to come out on two occasions, just for a server to come to us took 25 minutes, they told us a party of 50 was coming upstairs at 6pm (we arrived at 530pm) and understably moved downstairs...Well when we left at 830pm, there was still no one upstairs for the party but we did see two groups of 2 seated. Just complete disorganization and under-staffing on the night we went. Now I realize this could have just been the day I went, but it was quite terrible for our group of 5. I had two beers and can't even remember what I had. As a beer chick, that's quite unlike me. I do know both were $8 for a pint. Sadly, they left such a bad taste in my mouth I won't be back. read more

Got to try this place out during a Saturday before a show at the NOVO. Lucky enough, we got in during Happy Hour so that's always a win when in LA. Our group got to try the Nachos along with the Organic Spicy Wings. Both items tasted delicious! The wings can be a creeper with the spiciness the more bites you take. The nachos come with guacamole on top so that's always a plus. For drinks, I got to order a whiskey smash. Awesome mix of flavor that balances out the whiskey along with the spirits. The whole lay out and the service was amazing. The servers checked on our group periodically. Only reason why I gave the review a 4 is because i wanted to try the special offers they have infused on the back page of the menu which included CBD options. This is one of my favorite spots in DTLA. Friendly service, dog friendly patio, amazing happy hours that run into the weekend and after 9:30 pm as well...really there is nothing that I don't like about Prank! They also have a nice brunch menu (am yet to come here for that but it's looks pretty good). Most drinks were $7 during happy hour and even though I first came here on a lackluster date (hate online dating!), this bar has become my go to spot in DTLA. We had a great experience at Prank. Our server was amazing and helpful. We just came in for a drink and some appetizers. We ordered the Nachos and boneless chicken wings. The Nachos were stacked. A great appetizer to share. It's a huge portion. We got ours with carnitas. I felt every chip had a least one if not all ingredients on it. Flavorful. Chips were crispy until the end. Hands down the best bar in DTLA. My husband and I absolutely love Prank and frequent often. The staff is always so kind and the drinks are always great! We love seeing Derek work, he really does know everyone in the neighborhood and is always so kind. Miguel is also an amazing bartender as well as the rest of the bartenders. We've seriously never have had a bad drink! Also, the food is really great. I haven't yet been for dinner, but based on my experiences here so far I will definitely be back again (possibly multiple times) on my next trip to downtown LA. - Very well made drinks by the bartenders, you can see the care and time they put into making each drink. - The cocktail menu is solid, the drinks are decently strong and high quality. - The brunch food is BOMB. I absolutely loved my bucatini carbonara. Enough so that I somehow managed to eat the WHOLE plate. And it was quite a large portion. Would recommend trying. - I didn't taste the Huevos Rancheros, the Organic Egg sandwich, or the Burrito Mojado but my friends enjoyed their dishes. - The boneless spicy chicken wings are just wow. I would highly recommend getting an order for the table. They were gone in an instant. - Mimosa kit. You can't really have brunch without mimosas now, can ya? Recommended by a friend and it was located right around the corner from my office, so I said why not?! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the wait was unexplainably long. The hostess seated us real quick but the waitress gave us a heads up on the 30 minute wait for food with no reason. The seating we got deserved a thumbs up. A cozy booth area in the corner away from the door on a cold rainy afternoon was appreciated! Finally, Mr. Avocado Toast arrived and wasn't looking too fly. He was all bruised up and looked like he had better days. My partner wasn't feeling the brownish hue compared to the sweet green chunks pictured in the Yelp photos so asked for it to be remade. Easy, peasy... waitress gave us no problem about it and he came back looking fresher than a pillow with a mint on it. My order came out as French Toast but I ordered chicken and waffles. They made it and brought it real quick but I didn't enjoy the chicken because it looked a bit undercooked inside when I saw blood while cutting up the meat. Despite my paranoid chicken episode, the waffles made up for it. I was somewhat satisfied even though I wasted the chicken scraps on the plate and ate mostly the skin. $15 for one waffle and two pieces of chicken filled with bones and a little blood wasn't the biz but the waffles were on point. Would we come back? Maybe. Nice seasoning on the two basic items we ordered but some of our neighboring customers looked like they chose some worthy dishes we should check out next time. We ordered the sliders and they were delicious. The fries tasted and smelled like old grease - not my personal fave. Service was quick tho and made sure our tables were cleared which was appreciated. Aside from the food, the drinks were good and fairly priced. The highlight of the night by far, however, were the dogs. There's not a ton of bars in LA that are pet friendly but this here is the magical unicorn nestled on a corner in DT just a few blocks from the Staples Center. Pre-covid Prank: We were early for the clippers game and were hungry so decided to head to Prank for their happy hour and snacks. We got seated immediately out on the patio. We discovered a drink called a Bramble at this place and we loved it so much that we have recreated this drink at home so many times during Covid. I also loved my bulliet bourbon mint julep. Mint juleps at other bars taste very watery but this one was stifffffff. We were too hungry to take pictures of the food but also got distracted by the fact that this guy tried to rob a doordasher on his bike right across the street from where we were seated! We stopped by this place after the Kings/Golden Knights game at Staples Center. It was a short walk from the arena and very easy to find. From the outside, the bar looked inviting and had curbside appeal. Upon entering, you could see there were two floors. We were seated on the first floor and were giving menus. Being a Saturday, we weren't sure if happy hour was an option, but luckily they had it and a happy hour menu. I ordered a Penicillin, which was made with Johnnie Walker Black scotch. The drink itself was pretty tasty and one of the first drinks I've had made with scotch. Typically I'm a scotch on the rocks kind of guy. The negatives of this review are based on a couple things. First, we asked the server for some ice waters with our drinks and he directed us to the bar to a water cooler to get it ourselves. Normally I would have no problem do this. However, all around us, other servers - as well as our guy - were carafes of water. Secondly, my wife had a fruit fly floating in her drink. We brought it over to the server to have him replace it. It took an additional 10 minutes to get a new one and he wasn't very apologetic about it. It's a nice place to check out if you're by the stadium, but I would seek it out otherwise. read more

$7 for anything on the Happy Hour menu from 4-7:02pm?? I'm there. Prank is an open door bar in DTLA that actually works without feeling like you're inhaling all the nasty city smells. It's in a nice area and the bar itself has a chic, industrial look. Came on a Friday night and was able to make HH which is always a plus. The drinks off the HH menu were actually pretty strong to my surprise. They are very generous with the alcohol here. The garnish & presentation of the drinks are also heart-eyes emoji. I also got the spicy chicken wings, their most popular dish. It's boneless which turned me off at first but the sauce was spicy, sweet, and sour! The sliders were also on pointtttt. I went out to this place for a first stop for a date night and didn't realize it was on St. Pattys Day! It was fairly busy so our wait was about 15-20 mins. We were given the option to stay on the first floor and wait or head upstairs but we would have to come down and get our drinks and carry them as there is no bartender upstairs. They checked our IDs and led us to our table right by the bar. Because it was busy, there was constant foot traffic so our table was frequently getting brush passed by intoxicated people so imagine getting bumped all the time while trying to enjoy your food and drinks. It is a walk up bar so we didn't get a waiter assigned to us, we had to walk up, order our drinks and carry them back to the table. We also had to order our food at the bar and someone would bring it out to us. The bartender kind of rushed us to order telling us if we waited it would take even longer for our food to get to us and we had only been there for ten mins and haven't looked at the menu thoroughly enough, but I would have preferred to order under less duress lol. Because of the walk up ordering, there was not anyone checking in on us or anything close to it. We only had someone come and pick up our plates after we were done. We came during happy hour so our drinks were pretty cheap! I ordered a mojito and my date ordered a margarita for $10 a piece. The drinks were pretty strong but because it was 3/17 they added color to make them green so not really cute for a photo op. I know it's environmentally friendly, but I hated the paper straws because they get soggy too fast. I also ordered a Moscow mule which was also $10. We then ordered the skirt steak tacos, and the jalapeño burger. I requested no garlic aioli and to my surprise, I had garlic aioli on my burger! Since we didn't have a waiter, and it was busy, I didn't want to fight through the crowd to take my burger back so I just annoyingly had to wipe it off. The fries were too crispy to the point there was no fluffy potato inside, but the steak tacos were amazing. I would go back just for the tacos! Our bill was $95 bucks (4 drinks, 6 tacos , burger and fries) which is dirt cheap compared to what we normally spend on a date night. Staff service needs to be a bit better, but I would go back for happy hour and try some other drinks and probably go when it's not a laker game or alcohol friendly holiday happening. read more

There was a time when the kitchen was closed between 3pm - 4:30pm (We were there awhile enjoying each other's company, drinks and the food) We still had our drinks and our finished plates were in the way. Reasonable sized portions for around $8-9. Drinks were strong! Came around 6p on a Thursday and was able to get an outdoor table quickly. Seating inside was limited as the upstairs section is closed. Favorite number is 7 so is this my spot for HAPPY HOUR! They have happy hour at unique times, it starts from 4:50pm to 7:02pm and then reverse happy hour from 9:42 to 11:07pm. Everything on their happy hour menu are $7 and the portion size are very generous. You can order four items from it, for two people and you'd be good. I ordered the meat sliders, organic spicy wings, cauliflower (regular AND spicy), nachos and the taco duo. All worth it. I think my favorite was the spicy cauliflower. It had a different kick to it. The bar is pretty chill. They play good music. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. They do have patio seating, which I really recommended. The views are pretty nice. I did street parking, which is pretty easy. Meters are free after 6pm and free Sundays. The restaurant itself is very clean. They do have someone checking I.D before entry, so get it ready! Bf and I went here for brunch- we always pass by it but never got a chance to go. Crowd was super fun, very lively, food is good- great place to watch games and bring a group of friends to drink and chill. That said, our food took an hour to come out. According to the manager, the kitchen was backed up by an hour.. but it was interesting since table that were seated after us had gotten their food first, so I'm not sure if that was the issue. The manager was super helpful and took care of us because of that mishap, hooray for great managers! Would definitely come back for that, since it's a convenient location and great space, parking can be finicky but not as bad as a lot of other areas in DTLA. read more
