UPDATE 1: Review #830 2025-110 Contractor's License: 783446, expired 07/15/24 I can't remember exactly how my husband came into contact with Precision Overhead Garage Door Service, but he ended choosing them to repair our detached garage door; the door opens partially & drops while backing out the car. In any event, the repairs were completed & we were charged $620.86 for 2 springs (234-35 LHW & 250-39 RHW) & Lube & Tune with a 1-year warranty on parts & labor. It's 1 year later, & we're having garage door issues again. I didn't want to use Precision Overhead Garage Door Service due to previous concerns & discovery of their (Michael Diaz) expired contractor's license #783446: 07/15/24 (see posted pic) at the time of service on 12/2024 & learned about the expired license when the work was completed.＼(｀0´)／ The Department of Consumer Affairs - Contractors State License Board (CSLB) lists this #'s business info as: Laguna Overhead Ltd. dba Precision Overhead Garage Door Service operating at 1231 N. Patt St., Anaheim, CA 92806, which slightly differs (missing suite # & different zip code) what's on the POGDS website (1231 N. Patt St., #180); Yelp business page is also missing suite #. I feel swindled because we relied on their expertise & service, yet they didn't maintain their license which is required for work over $500 & is considered a criminal misdemeanor (per CSLB BPC § 7028 & 7028.7). According to their website (https://www.precisiondoor.net/locations/california/orange-county/anaheim), the contractor's license is listed as #979078 (see posted pic); CSLB lists that #'s business info as: Highland Arms Enterprises LLC dab Precision Garage Door Service operating at 14660 NE N. Woodinvile Way, Suite 100, Woodinville, WA 98072 (see posted pic). It's my understanding that a California license is required to work in CA, but the CSLB offers a streamlines reciprocity process for licenses from AZ, LA, NV, & UT, with the potential to waive the trade exam if a valid license in good standing for 5 years & other requirements are met, which isn't applicable to #979078 because it's registered for WA. For this recent garage issue, I worked with Mike Stevenson Garage Door Repair (refer to Review #931) & come to learn that Precision Overhead Garage Door Service used the wrong size spring. Ben, MSGDR technician, says POGDS should have used 225-27, not 250-39 & 234-35; they're meant for wood doors, not aluminum like mine. Why is this bad? A good, correctly sized garage door spring is CRUCIAL for safety, balance, & longevity, as it counteracts the door's weight for smooth operation; the wrong size causes uneven movement, strains the opener & other parts, leading to premature failure, expensive repairs, & dangerous snapping or sudden collapses. Using the RIGHT spring size ensures the opener works efficiently, prevents jerky movements, & protects the entire system from excessive stress. What does this mean? While Precision Overhead Garage Door Service repaired the door with new springs, their wrong springs caused further damage with imbalance, straining the opener, increasing wear on other parts, & potentially damaging the left & right cables. To date, Precision Overhead Garage Door Service has not made their contractor's license current/active, still using a different vendor's license. I plan to contact them re: the incorrect part that most likely caused this recent failure to see if they stand by their service & products; MSGDR is willing to be the SME (subject matter expert) on the POGDS parts issue. I highly recommend YOU DO NOT USE Precision Overhead Garage Door Service in Anaheim until they operate with a proper, valid license.

Michael Diaz came to my house and installed a nice belt garage door motor. He is extremely professional and skilled. He did an excellent job installing the motor. He kept the work area very clean and has a nice sense of humor. I would highly recommend him for any garage door needs and services.

Well today is Tuesday and Hector is here installing my new Garage door. Hector is very professional,courteous and very knowledgeable about his work. He answered a few questions for me. The installation was done to perfection and I'm very Pleased and Happy. I highly recommend Precision Garage door for your next installation or repair. Precision Door Service was prompt and on time. They called half hour before they showed up. Tony the tech repair man new exactly the problem. He explained what needed to be done to repair. He replaced with a newer, back up model with a back up power if garage lost power. He cleaned up after work. Removed all old materials. The best part was how he spoke to my 85 year old mother in law explaining in simple detail how the repair. I highly recommend if anyone is looking for repair or replacing a garage door opener. We purchased our garage door and opener from Precision in 2008 and up until three weeks ago, we hadn't had any issues...not so much as the need for a maintenance call. So when the opener stopped working intermittently, I reached out to Precision using the customer service chat feature on their website. The service rep quickly scheduled a technician to come out the next day between 12:30 and 4:30, stating the repairman would call before coming out to provide an ETA. As promised, the repairman, Rudy, called me at 11:20 to say he would be at our home at 12:30. Rudy showed up exactly on time, diagnosed the issue, and had us up and running within about an hour. We are very happy with the repair, and I was particularly appreciative of Rudy's no-pressure approach. I never felt like he was trying to upsell me on anything unnecessary. I would definitely recommend Precision and wouldn't hesitate calling them if I ever need another repair. read more

I only give one star because I don't know if we can do NO star. I write this as the tech is out in my garage fixing a spring. I was quoted "not more than $200" on the phone and the tech shows up and says "$400". I refuse and he says "okay, that will be $29.95 service charge. I am not a happy customer at this point. Here is the thing. We called other places. The job is worth $150-200. The only reason that we went with this company is because they got here quickly. So I am unhappy at this point and the tech tells me "okay, I will do it now for $225 (because he knows I am not paying him $400 under any circumstances.) He went from $400 to $225 in about 45 seconds and acts like he did me a favor. Seriously a 200-300% markup. What awful people taking advantage of people. PICK ANYBODY ELSE... YOU CAN'T DO WORSE. read more

Very very disappointed, took 1.5-months to get errors in installation corrected. After many calls for correction, two "false" appointments were made, meaning no one showed up and when contacting company only heard excuses! Unfortunately had to use this company due to HOA requirements. AVOID AT ALL COST! Front office and labor unimpressive! read more

Really appreciate that they take calls 24/7 and are able to send folks out even on Sundays! My family and I were in a bad bind when our garage circuit board went out on a Sunday am. I called Precision and they scheduled someone to be out within only a few short hours. Dave G arrived and was wonderful. Knowledgeable, helpful, courteous...and best of all, worked quietly enough in our garage so as not to disturb my babies while taking naps in their nurseries directly above the garage (all moms can relate to the elation of undisturbed nap time!). Liar liar pants on fire! Sexist (yes my opinion) vendor who takes advantage of female homeowners attempted to upsell me the need to replace side mounted springs ($200 x 4 of the P728 - One Piece Door Extension Spring = $800) and some b.s. about broken springs (damn springs weren't broken, Sam (never to be trusted) just needed to adjust the springs like you do a bra.) Instead he claimed the springs were broken and needed to be replaced. Again, he quoted me $800 for parts on 4 of the P728 - One Piece Door Extension Springs. In checking online, those same springs average less than $30 ea. from the manufacturer, Holmes. All in all, to replace springs not broken with some additional (U-Bolt / Chain) - U-BOLT or CHAIN for $15 x 4...the total friggin estimate came to $916, including labor. This is what Sam said needed to be addressed before American Home Shield would cover any motor parts for replacing the garage door opener. When I looked at the motor, it was missing broken pieces that were in the pan of the motor cover. I later learned that all I needed to spend was half of the cost of some springs and I'm getting a new damn garage door opener and Precision and Sam are getting a bad Yelp review. Lastly, DONT GET A HOME WARRANTY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD! Wish I could leave ZERO star. read more

Just a quick note applauding the professionalism and affable personality of Max, the technician who reviewed the problem with our garage door, and quickly offered a trio of solutions. We opted for the "Best" solution and had a new motor installed (our previous motor was ancient @ 23 years or 135 in human years) which Max took care of expeditiously and efficiently. And though the new motor was not inexpensive Precision added 10 new rollers at no additional cost and Max performed a little tuneup on the hinges too. Now I might have found a better price with another company but my time comes at a cost, and it's not worth chasing down a possible savings of a few dollars, especially with a quality individual like Max proffering his help. And now we love our "new" quiet garage door that not only opens once again with a remote, but also doesn't wake up the neighborhood when it opens in the AM. read more

Needed to have the springs replaced on our garage door after one broke. I called Precision as I was so pleased with their service last year when I used them to help one of my senior neighbors fix her garage. This service was GREAT just like the previous albeit a different technician. Raul Mojica was who was sent to our home is just a great guy. Super friendly and professional, assesses the issue and tells you exactly what you need and why. He took the time to explain everything and what he found in the process of replacing the springs and why he recommended updating that part. No high pressure sales pitches or trying to sell us everything under the sun. You can tell he takes his job seriously and cares about his work and the people he is working for. Very hard these days to find such a good employee like this. Hopefully we don't need service again anytime soon but we will be repeat customers as well as recommending Precision for anyone who asks. read more

Eric Stevens. Was very professional and knowledgeable of the problems with our garage door. Not inexpensive but warranty is good. We had first our springs replaced a month ago and our motor finally went out after 10 years. Every thing came out great. So quiet. 3 days later my door would not close. So I called. Left two messages with call center started at 7:19 am at 9am still no call back. I tried it again. It closed. Sun might have been shining on sensor. NOT HAPPY. $1600 later. Let's hope this gets resolved. Still no call back. Customer service is not at all satisfactory. There should be someone on call at all times. Should not have to wait for the original installer to call you back. 9:45 still no call back. Called me back 9:55 they will be out Sunday. Customer service is unacceptable!! read more

I needed a new garage door with motor. So I got three estimates and went with Precision. They gave me an estimate ( Sergio Buenrostro) on Thursday. I was so pleased with the way Sergio explain what happen and what I needed. He called the company and told them I needed it asap. He was able to get the old door remove and put my new one up the next day. Now let me tell you about the technician Kevin Gonzalez that removed the old one and put the new one up. He was also excellent, Because I like to see and ask questions when someone is during work at my house. He answered all questions and was very knowledgable. I spoke several time on the phone with a young lady name Olga hope I'm saying har name correctly. She was friendly and nice and told me if I had any other questions or concerns to call. her. I had a great experience with Precision and Hector, my technician. I called them on a Monday with a non-emergency garage door situation. They were able to offer me an appointment for Tuesday. The technician called me 30 minutes prior to his arrival to let me know he was on his way. He actually arrived about 5 minutes before I got home. I was on a business phone call and he waited patiently for me to finish. Once he saw the situation with my door, Hector explained the way that he would fix it and quoted me the coupon price that I'd been promised. He fixed the door springs and then suggested that he replace the 10 wheels that were squeaking like crazy when the door went up and down. I was happy with Hector's service and his work. My garage broke and they came right out. He seems to be very qulified and knows what he is doing. The prices seemed high so I cross checked them. They were about 20% higher than most. The guy missed to scheduled appointments. When I went to cancel they kept my deposit. No big deal it was only 100 bucks. I would get a written estimate up front, which I did not, and I would make sure you check their pricing. read more

These guys are a lifesaver! My garage door got stuck and I could not leave for a very important appointment. I called Precision Garage Door and they were here in 45 minutes. Turns out my spring had broken and the Tech had a replacement spring in his truck. I made my appointment and was able to use a coupon from their website and save $50.00. They sent out a specialist, Eric Stevens to fix our broken spring. He was really easy to work with, no pressure sales tactics, and he was very knowledgeable and helped us make a good decision on fixing the garage door up. CALL ANOTHER COMPANY! This company charges a fee to come out but say they will credit it towards any work you have done. They don't mention tge mandatory 85.00 labor fee regardless of what work they do, even if it only takes 2 minutes to adjust something. Next, their pricing for parts is insane! WAY OVERPRICED! Also, someone who actually worked there called me a crazy woman for questioning why the parts were so ecpensive after I researched them online. Unbelievable to me that they would employ such a person. Who knows, perhaps she is part owner...even worse. I spoke to other companies after this disaster and so wish I would have called them first. Definitely a lesson learned. read more

We had a door installed by them roughly two years ago, it has given us nothing but problems...once we finally got them back out to fix the door they sent someone with no experience with my door at all.. then they charged me $110 for the service call..the door worked well for a week and now back to the same stuff..I called them again and the told me to call the manufacturer...WTF?? this company is crap, they are shady and very customer unfriendly...I'll never do business with them again. read more

We had been having some issues with our garage door, mainly the opener motor making horrible noises and vibrating when opening and closing. I was pretty sure we needed a new opener unit. I called Precision on Wednesday evening around 5:00pm, and they said they could have a tech out the following morning between 8 and 10 am. Great! Roy arrived about 8:30am. He was very nice and personable, and wasted no time addressing the problem He suggested replacing the opener, as I had expected. My father-in-law gave him a good grilling with questions and his own "expertise." Roy was very polite and patient with the questions. He was done in a little over an hour, and called me to go over everything he had done. He re-calibrated the door and leveled it out, and did some other service and maintenance. Overall, I would definitely recommend them based on my past two experiences with Precision. read more

Proficient and Polite! carefully checked my garage door and motor and found the problem within the minutes. BEST SERVICE EVER! I had an issue with my garage door the damn flux capacitor had overridden the multitudes of the vortex propulsion continuum transfunctioner. I spoke with Mr Rocha and he hooked a brotha up. They made it out to my house within an less than under an hour of the call i placed and replaced the dynamic quantum propulsion unit with a brand spank me new one! ... honestly i don't know wtf they did but it was fast , cheap, and they were friendly. read more

My door come off track over the weekend. I called a few places but no one was able to come out till Monday. I called precision and they were able to send someone out that day. I got my door repaired quick and they even lube and tighten some of our door parts. Would rather have a new door but with Christmas around the corner I just wanted it fixed. Really nice and knowable tech can't remember his name but I will diffidently call back once I'm ready to get my new door and get rid of this old wood one. read more

One of my springs broke on my small garage door. It looked like I had two springs on one side of my door! I called them early this morning and they were able to send someone out within a couple of hours since their tech was in the area. Once the guy showed up he was very professional and polite. He had explained to me that it's very common for the springs to wear out and break. It's funny, you don't realize how often you use your garage door until it breaks! He checked the rest of my door to make sure there was nothing else that needed repairing. He even gave me a new clicker since my battery was going bad. Very thankful I called Precision. Definitely going to use them again if I need to and would refer them to family friends. read more

He only wanted to let me know I had options. He charged me a fair price, right on his estimate and he and his son David replaced the belt, and then went the extra mile for no additional charge in doing some door adjustments and inspected the system again as a whole. From the moment Denys heard the garbage attempt to open then quickly close, he knew what the problem was! He was able to manually open the door from the outside and confirmed that it was indeed the coils and tension wires. He gave me options of replacement materials - from low cost to more expensive - and allowed me to determine my price. He even showed me his price table. No hidden fees, no upsell, just full transparency! Easy! After I made my choice, he began the work which had challenges since I had something blocking the access to the coils. He found a workaround and the work began while I went into my home office for meetings. He worked to resolve the issue in less than an hour. He even threw the old parts away for me. Our garage door was broken so we called them out. We told them we could only be home until 4pm and they gave us the window of 2-4pm. We made sure we were home during that time. Unfortunately, it was for no reason because nobody showed up or called. We called them and they said they would come tight then and only take a minute to give an estimate for the work. Well no estimate was provided and they just started the work without any communication. When I heard drilling I asked if they were going to provide an estimate or what? And the workers said, ya, it's almost done, it's $450. No approval, no paperwork, nothing. I was late to my appointment and they said we could leave them locked in the garage, but as we were going to leave they kept having to go through the house to get things from their truck. I didn't want to leave them locked in the hot garage but we really had to leave. The whole situation was so incredibly frustrating. Then the office girl called me to collect payment and made it 100 times worse. I was trying to explain to her that the process was really stressful and she said, "ok so then I'll just have them go back and undo everything they did" .... Are you serious? What kind of customer service is that? What a terrible representation for their business. Had she said, "I understand how that was frustrating. We should have come when we said we were/communicated/provided an estimate/explained what we were even doing/honestly anything? It would have been different. Things happen, I get that, but have accountability and communication. It's very very basic customer service. We paid, we're done with them, but we will never use this company again.

Before scheduling, I explained that my torsion springs weren't broken and that one garage door cable had simply come off the drum (I had removed the other cable while troubleshooting). Judy even checked with Brandon, the owner, to see if they could provide a ballpark estimate based on that information. Brandon declined to provide any price range over the phone, explaining they first needed to determine why the cable had come off. I completely understand that unexpected issues can change the cost, but I believe customers should still be given a reasonable ballpark estimate based on the information provided, with the understanding that the price could change if additional problems are found. Refusing to provide any range at all doesn't build confidence or trust. The repair ended up being rewinding both torsion springs and reinstalling both cables. No parts were replaced, and I was charged $275. In my opinion, that felt expensive for the work performed, especially since I had already described the issue beforehand. Whether others feel it's worth it is up to them, but I would have appreciated knowing what I was walking into before scheduling the service. Isaac was polite, professional, and did everything he said he would, including lubricating the door and springs. I have no complaints about him personally. After the repair, my Genie opener wasn't operating correctly, and he mentioned it could be a burned-out motor or bad motherboard. I was comfortable handling the opener myself, so I was fine wrapping things up there. As it turned out, after I adjusted the drum tension and reset the opener's travel limits, everything worked perfectly. That said, not every customer is comfortable troubleshooting or reprogramming an opener on their own. At a $275 service charge, I think taking a few extra minutes to help reset or troubleshoot the opener before suggesting a more expensive issue would go a long way toward creating a better customer experience. Overall, my garage door is working again, and I appreciate Judy's excellent customer service and Isaac's professionalism. My disappointment is with the company's lack of pricing transparency. Customers deserve a reasonable expectation of cost before scheduling a service call, especially when they've already provided a clear description of the issue. That's the kind of transparency that builds trust and earns five-star reviews.

I was concerned about the cost- researched online for the repair he recommended but found nothing that came close to the $1,700 quote. I decided to check in with my contractor after I authorized work, he questioned the tech about the cost of service over the phone. I sent my contractor a video of the service tech said he performed. Contractor told tech parts would be at the most $300. So Sunwest was charging me $1,400 for labor??? That's just unethical! I'm attaching their "bill of sale" that simply lists the condition of my garage door -not the work they claimed to be performing. On top of the ridiculous up charge the vendor never offered me the least expensive repair option of around $500 that's listed. I again questioned the cost and expressed that I could possibly get a new door for that much money. The tech went as far as telling me a new door, after Covid and prices rising, would cost me $6k. My contractor said he would get a complete new system installed for under $2k. In the end I refused service and asked them to restore my garage door as it was. The tech got his boss on the line and asked me to talk so we could come to some sort of discount. I refused to do business with them. And when given clear proof of their wrong doing they walked away without charging a service fee I thank my contractor who saved me from this scam of a company who in the end apologized for the over charge and didn't charge me for the mediocre job performed.

It was time to replace it with something sturdier and less likely to warp, shrink, fade. I did a lot of research on what materilas would best hold up to the brutal So Cal summers we have. I also had to keep within the Architectural guidelines of our HOA for fences. I found a company in Orange, CA, called SoCal Gates. I established contact with the owner, Ray, who is a really knowledgeable and personable guy to work with. We scheduled an appointment for him to come to our home to show us color samples of the composite material we would choose for him to use in our steel framed gate. Ray arrived, and had us look at the different colored composite samples while he took his measurements. He then went over with us the color choices and which ones would intergrate best with our home's exterior colors, including the tiled roof and front entry door and garage door. He explained how he visualized the gate would look, once mounted. We agreed on the materials and and the price. He mentioned that his installation pricing included the removal of the gate from the cinder block wall it was attached to, but did not include the removal of the old fence post or the haul away fo the old fence. After hiring another fence company to remove the fence post, back fill with concrete and haul away all of the old fence, Ray told he would've done it had I specifically asked him, for an extra charge. In fact, he told me how to remove the old post myself, so that gave me the impression he would prefer to just to install the gate with the old fence gone and the area prepped for his installation. After the HOA approved my gate plan, It only took a few weeks for Ray to build our gate and to schedule a date and time for the installation. On the day of the installation, I watched Ray assemble and install my agte, He is meticulous and thoughtful throughout his installation process. He showed me how to change out the composite planks if I ever needed to, and how to program our electronic lockest. We are very happy with out new sturdy, side gate. I would recommend anyone needing a new steel framed gate with composite planking to contact Ray.

This is a horrible door company. They had no problem showing up at 8:30PM to make a sale, but then took three weeks after the promised date to get my door installed and its still not working! The first delay was because they didn't make the door I ordered and then the second delay was because the door they made was not to the sizes that were measured!?!? What kind of outfit does this? I was ready to fire these guys as my cars were being held capitive in the garage waiting on the new garage door. So they finally show up three weeks later and install the door and I had to shell out another $500 for a garage door motor to boot because apparently the motor I had couldn't support their new door. A detail I might add that was conveniently left out of the original order! So 12 hours after installation my wife tells me the door doesn't work. Sure enough, the remotes just cause the NEW motor to just make a clicking noise. I have to manually lift the door. I try to call them back, but surprise surprise there is no customer service number anywhere on my invoice! I had to Google the f****n company to get a phone number to reach them! Once I did, they had the audacity to ask me how I got their number! Then the earliest service call they had was two days later! Funny how they came over the day we called for a new door and secured $1,200 for services, but they were unavailable to fix their install for two days. So two days go by and the door starts to work...I don't know how, but it does. So I call them at 6:15AM to cancel the service call, which is anywhere from 8:00AM to 10:00AM,...the door stops working at 6:50AM, I call back to reinstate the service call, only to find out that I have to wait two more days for a service call! I lose it on the phone and ask how my time slot was rescheduled in the past 30 minutes when the service tech's haven't even shown up to work yet! I have had it with this bozo outfit and am reporting them the BBB, Yelp, Facebook, Twitter and any other media outlet available to warn good folks that these guys are overpriced and incompetent. STAY AWAY FOLKS, THIS COMPANY LACKS ANY PRECISION in all aspects of their business. read more

Precision Garage Door Service of Orange County is lucky to receive a 1 star rating from me and that was for answering a call late in the evening and for being able to come out the next afternoon. Our technician's card said his name was Jesus but I swear I heard him say his name was Art. The technician looked around at our garage opener and immediately said oh this isn't working anymore and your system is old and you should replace it for $700+ depending on what system you purchase out of their 3 options. We decided to "think about it" and did some research on other garage door companies and ended up finding a different company. The other company came, fixed the garage door opener in less than a minute, showed me what the issue was, tried programming our new remotes (which did not work with the opener), and so he provided us with 2 programmed remotes...all for only a little more than Precision Garage Door Service of Orange County's service fee...which by the way was not mentioned over the phone when we set up the appointment. Our technician said that it was to be mentioned over the phone when we made the appointment and said that he could call to have it waived. I ended up just paying the $40 because he did come out and he didn't really want to call. He just kept saying if you continue using our service, it'll go back to you (be deducted from whatever you purchase). I realize now that he's probably paid on commission and so that was why he was pressing the new system. The technician didn't even send me a receipt for the $40 like he said he would (paid in cash). So enjoy the $40 you got out of me. When I do need a new garage door opener, I'll be going to the other company that helped me. Update: Olga contacted me after I sent back the pre-job signature mentioning that I would not be accepting the technicians' recommendations and truly seemed to care about what led to my decision and what they could have done to better assist me. She sent me the invoice/receipt and will be reimbursing the $40 and has forwarded my feedback to management. I've bumped up the stars to 3 for the time being. read more
