Decided after many years to upgrade our sump pump system with a new backup system. My Zoeller sump pump always worked well and had to replace it only once because of a faulty switch. My backup system was another story. I found that it wasn't working at all unless I banged on the sensor. Apparently these systems don't function well if they are seldom used and since we have rarely had a power outage in the last 10 years the backup pump did not get much work, which is probably the reason it would not come on unless I tapped it a few times. Even though we do not have many power outages, we decided to protect our basement. We considered a Generac generator which can run anywhere from $2000 to $5000 and that does not include installation and on top of that it still would not protect our basement if our sump pump failed for whatever reason. Therefore we decided to invest in a decent sump pump backup system and contacted several plumbing companies that appeared to have overall good ratings. I always get 6 estimates since my father always said get at least 3 or more opinions. As I had different representatives visit my house I learned a lot about different systems. I also looked for reviews and other information on the various systems quoted. My advice is to take your time and be patient if possible and do your homework. The system we decided to go with was an Ion 35ACi Deluxe with a single marine style AGM battery. There are systems with double batteries but there is a point where you have to draw the line. This system comes with an inverter with electronic readouts that tell you about the power in your house and battery strength. All you have to do is read the display which is continuous. The "Ion" controller gives you a constant read out as to the depth of the water in your pit, level your primary sensor is at and other information which is continuously displayed. Now here is the good part. The pumps do not use a float system to switch the pumps on and off but instead have some type of sensor that signals the pump to engage. In addition there are two pumps in the system and the controller alternates the pumps every time your pit needs to discharge some water. So both pumps get equal use by alternating therefore you don't have the problem of a pump freezing up because of lack of use. I also called the manufacturer and asked them several questions related to the system. Some reviews indicated that the fan that cools the inverter was somewhat noisy. I have not noticed a problem regarding noise at this point. Every other piece of feedback was excellent. So we decided on this system with a 3 year warranty. Other contractors recommended this system as well. We made our final choice based on the feeling we got from the representative, who by the way is usually the installer/plumber. Obviously price was an issue. We decided to go with this company because they gave us the best price. We knew what the price of the system was if purchased alone by us as we called several distributors ($1300 to $1500). Battery prices seem to range from $250 to $485 for the same battery so do your homework. You should not have to pay more than $250 for a battery. So now we know approximately how much the labor would be. We were quoted prices ranging from under $2600 to $3400 (which no one pays). Our technician explained everything in detail and gave us confidence in his abilities and that is why you want to get several estimates and get a feel for the technicians ability, knowledge etc., so do your homework. Let the technician or representative know you are shopping and ask for their rock bottom estimate and use that information in your negotiations. We feel we got a fair price and the company still made a decent profit which we call a win win situation.The technician, company and price were excellent and that translates to referrals and positive reviews. So other companies who read this should take note. My company always wanted to close the deal. We felt a little bit of something was better than a lot of nothing. Plus every sale we made was one less for our competitor. So think about it. Our technician went out of his way in every way to do the job right and got it done on time. His name was Paul W. I suggest you ask for Paul W. when getting any work done. I cannot speak for other technicians and the experiences that others may have had with this company but I can tell you at least for us they were very accommodating and the people who worked the phones and passed on information were very pleasant and on top of things at all times. We found one other company whose representative impressed us and gave us confidence but when we called back to make further inquiries we received no response after several days. Give this company an opportunity then compare to others and you should be OK. If anything ever changes with my satisfaction of this work I will certainly update my review. read more

I originally called Precision Plumbing to rod a drain that clogs up once a year or so.... just the grease from our sink that builds up. They came out quickly, worked quickly and cleanly, and the technician was polite.... I rated them 3 stars because they did a 5 star job but charged twice what our usual guy does. ( we usually use a different plumber but I mistook them in my contact list, it was late and my bathtub was filling fast) Less than two weeks later the drain clogged back up and when I called the answering service told me that it's ~$150 to come out and even check if it's a related issue that could be covered under warrantee. Just getting that answer took two calls to the answering service and the price quoted was more than the other guys charge to just fix the problem. I was livid. The following morning, the GM ( Mike, I believe) called me back to apologize for how the situation was handled. He sent the technician back out the following day to redo the work at no charge.... the technician decided that he needed help with the project so he had to return two days later with a camera to check the pipes ( again at no charge to us)...... they came out, ran a camera, and rodded the pipes out......after all that, the drain flows a little but still backs up. It was completely plugged and now it will fill the tub when I shower but empty within 5 minutes of being done. I again got a follow up call from Mike apologizing that they weren't able to fix the problem. At that point I called a few other plumbers to get estimates on fixing the piping that keeps causing this issue and agreed to call Mike back afterwards. After all the other estimates were in, Precision offered to do the job for the same cost as the lowest reasonable estimate and even took off the money I originally spent with them to rod the drain. So, it took a little bit, but they absolutely went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with their work. These guys completely proved that they are stand up people and honest businessmen. My wife's mother in Woodridge has had some recurring sewer back up problems. My wife found an online coupon for Precision Plumbing and I gave them a call. They called back twice to let us know the status of the technician, once to let us know we were next in line and again when he was leaving the previous site. The technician, Chris Sye showed up exactly as promised and went right to work. At first he used the snake with the camera on it to see if there was a minor clog he could punch through without having to use the big router. I was able to see myself that the problem was bigger than that...no guesswork involved. He then brought in the big power router, I was able to watch him the whole time. This guy was really working hard and explained what he was doing throughout. I found that to be very reassuring. It felt like I had a trusted relative working on the problem. After several more minutes Chris determined he would have to switch to a different, cutting bit. After some more pretty strenuous work that did the trick, the clog was cleared and the water in the drain went down. After that, he ran the camera through again and I was able to see what was causing the problem with my own eyes. It turned out that tree roots had pushed into the joint between the PVC from the house and the small length of clay sewer pipe that connects to the village sewer line. I was able to see how the cutter bit removed the roots. He put a sensor on the camera and marked the exact spot in the yard where the underground problem was located. Chris clearly explained the options available to fix the core problem and wrote up a detailed estimate for each option. He wrote up the invoice for the service call and it was the exact amount of the coupon, not a penny more. All in all, I was very glad we called in a professional because there was no way I could have made that determination on my own. This relationship started off bumpy but ended great. I have a clogged toilet and Precision Plumbing was found using Home Advisors. They called and set up a time to come out on Saturday morning. The 1st plumber came out and tried to rod the clog through the sink with no success. He stated that he could do it through the toilet with a different machine or through the cleanout. At that time I didn't know where the cleanout was located. He said that Precision could create a cleanout for me. Option 1 would cost $800 and option 2 would cost $3400. At that moment neither option was affordable so he packed up and charge $149 for his visit. On Monday I called to schedule the rod through the toilet for $800 (I was told on Saturday that the $149 could be used as a down payment if I went with either of the other 2 options). Ozzie came out didn't have success through the toilet or from the roof. We located the cleanout and he tried from there still unsuccessfully. He called the company who suggested power jetting ($999) the line or cutting out the pipe containing the blockage and replacing it ($3500). I was hesitant and frustrated realizing the scale of the problem but still unsure since each promised fix failed and the prices were escalating. Ozzie worked with my best interest in mind and manage to get the power jet crew onboard still utilizing the $149 I spent on failed rod the previous Saturday. The crew came quickly and within 90 minutes I had a fully functioning bathroom. All 3 guys; Ozzie, Vince and Peter were great. Professional, polite, informative and cheerful. Ozzie was a rock star. He worked with his managers to find a solution that was cost effective and didn't leave me; the customer, in a disadvantage. I'm so thankful he was sent out on this job because without him, I don't know if I would have a working bathroom today. read more

I had a clog that was backing up black water into the sump pump. The sump handled it pretty well but we needed it fixed right away since we have a finished basement. They were supposed to come over the day we called but they called back later to cancel until the next day since they had a sudden emergency on a job they were already on; that poor customer had to have his yard ripped up according to what we were told. The last minute cancellation is the reason I didn't give the fifth star. Rick H. was our serviceman who came the next day. He was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. He kept his work areas very clean while rodding the line. As a matter of fact, he was able to stay cleaner and keep the work area cleaner while messing around in a live sewer line than I stay doing everyday things like watching TV or going shopping for instance. How does that happen lol?... I was able to get their "Restore Service" special rate of $149.00 which was less than half what others in the area charged. Although this is a minimal service, Rick explained what had to be done before he did it and showed us video of the pipes after the job was done. Rick did try to sell us the upgraded services over and above the minimal "Restore" service, but I would hardly call it hard sell or oversold; more like a verbal listing of services and specials. I was actually appreciative that he took a few minutes to list and explain details of other services so I have a better idea on what they offered and what they may charge if I need them in the future, or if I decided to upgrade while they're here. All in all it was well worth the money. Despite what other reviewers say here, I personally had a good experience with this company and I definitely think I'm going to call them in the spring for the spring cleaning... read more

My sister recommended Precision Plumbing to me after using them several times herself. I did read a few negative reviews on Yelp, but I'm glad I decided that her experience and a BBB rating of A+ were more important. They charged a low, flat rate to come out, and they inspected three separate plumbing issues (leaking shower, broken sink and loose toilet). Rob, the plumber who came out, was respectful, neat and knowledgeable. He took his time with each problem and presented me with a whole range of options, from the "band-aid" fix to the "never-have-to-worry again" type of fix. He talked me through each option carefully, and even spoke to my husband on the phone to include him in the decision. In fact, I think Rob spoke to him about five times throughout his long stay. He didn't push *any* expensive fixes, and actually, he told me that what I thought was a problem with the toilet wasn't really a big deal. We had had TWO separate visits from a (different) plumber trying to fix the shower, but Rob was so patient.. he even had my son get into the shower twice to help pinpoint the issue, which never seemed to occur unless someone was taking a shower. I couldn't be more pleased with Precision. I think they were worth every penny, and truly, when I look at the amount of time that Rob spent here, I think it wasn't really that expensive. We've tried the cheap, hardware store fixes ourselves and we've also tried the less-expensive plumbers and it resulted in a lot of repeat problems. I have been a customer of Precision for their annual furnace and air conditioner maintenance program, and I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. This experience was unprofessional from start to finish and has completely destroyed any trust I had in the company. The technicians who showed up were rude and clearly more interested in pushing additional services than performing the maintenance I had already paid for. They were aggressive with their upselling tactics, which made the visit uncomfortable and felt more like a high-pressure sales pitch than a professional service call. Even worse was their review solicitation process. I was bombarded with spam messages pressuring me to leave a review for the technician. When I chose to opt out, they retaliated by blocking all communication with me. As a direct result, my next scheduled furnace maintenance appointment was never confirmed or completed. I was left without the service I contracted for, with no notification or follow-up. This level of pettiness and poor customer service is unacceptable. Blocking a customer for not leaving a glowing review is outrageous and suggests they care more about manipulating ratings than actually delivering reliable maintenance. I will not be renewing with Precision and strongly advise others to look elsewhere for HVAC services. Save yourself the frustration and find a company that values professionalism over aggressive sales and review gaming. read more

We are so happy that we called Precision Plumbing to our house!! They did a FANTASTIC job and fixed our problem without creating a huge mess! Initially, it started with a water-backup into the shower from the toilet. We called Roto Rooter out and they fixed the backup, or so we thought. A week later the water from the washing machine backed up into the toilet. We called Roto Rooter again and they fixed it, but not without us fighting the battle for it to be covered under the original call. Once the work was finally done, we called Precision Plumbing to help replace the line. They were quick to respond to our problem, came out and gave us a quote. I could tell their technicians (especially Peter) were of a different caliber from the other company. They were knowledgeable and made recommendations based on our issue. A few weeks later, they tore out the laundry room floor and replaced the plumbing while I was at work. When I returned home, everything was done with the exception of the bath tiles that got destroyed. However, Peter came back the next morning and fixed them, put everything back in order in the laundry room and bathroom. He even vacuumed up the dirt on the tile in the bathroom. We have nothing but good things to say about Peter and would call him again anytime to come out to our house to fix an issue. We hope though that we'll never have another plumbing issue. :) I recommend this company and Peter without reservation! read more

I had Precision out to my home on Wednesday after all of my plumbing started to back up into my bath tub. So I called a more local company first, after they told me I had a septic tank causing the problem, which I told them wasn't the case I have no septic tank, they said they would need to dig it all up to fix it and it would be $1500 to $3500. I had them get off my property right after that. So I called Precision at 12:30 pm and asked when they could get someone out to my home, unfortunately the plumber was way behind and didn't end up arriving until 7:30pm. They were incredibly apologetic and didn't charge anything for an after hours call. The plumber's name was Rick H. he was extremely helpful. I told him my symptoms and he took a look around and we headed out to my plumbing's clean out. He put a camera down the line (which he didn't charge me for!) sure enough, I have no septic tank, what I did have was a LOT of roots in my pipes. They came back out on Friday and brought the equipment needed to fix the pipes.They used a special rodding machine that worked great and cleaned out the whole line. Rick then showed me a video of the now clean pipe! Fantastic! They didn't try and oversell anything, and were helpful in informing me to what I needed to do, and then gave me suggestions to help prevent the roots from coming back. A great company and I will be using them again when I do maintenance rodding on my drain line read more

Wow, how amazed was I to see that my review for you was in the filter and not counting at all towards your yelp score. How sad. I see also that yelp has allowed someone else to make a yelp account specifically to hurt you, not even leaving a real name, yet yelp allows this person to be counted on your site. I am ashamed and sorry to you for this. I haven't been yelping long and don't really understand how this works but whatever system they are using is not working correctly obviously. I am leaving the second review to reiterate not only the great service I received from you but the follow up after and to scream out my disappointment to yelp! Not only did this man fix my furnace within two hours after I called on what was to be the coldest night so far but he also sent me a compliment on yelp and called a couple days later to check that my furnace was running smoothly. How many people give you service like this? Very very few. Like I said, I have not been yelping long, but I have been really enjoying doing it up until I seen this. Now I am wondering if yelp is even real or if somehow it is being paid by certain companies to trash other companies or what? I registered on YELP just to post this review, I've never even thought about posing on here before but when a company does things right I think they should be acknowledged for it. When I found I needed a plumber for a sewer back up I asked co-workers, friends, and family for referrals and went with the one most referred me to - Precision Plumbing Heating and Cooling. I had to laugh at how passionately some of them recommended this place, but now I get it! From the start it was a great experience! Rick H. got out to the townhouse quickly (I was heading out of town for the weekend) for a free estimate and was able to diagnose the problem within minutes. It turned out to be my homeowners' association's responsibility to fix the damage but Rick did not just tell me that and then leave. He was so incredibly patient in explaining exactly what was wrong in terms I could understand. After telling me it was my homeowners' association's responsibility to fix the cause, he took the time to walked me through the things I needed to do and say to have my association take care of it - even offering to talk to the association if need be. Looking for a COMPETENT, CAPABLE, EXPERT, RELIABLE, REASONABLY PRICED plumber ****************** in KANSAS CITY ********************** Not long after purchasing a rental property I was told I would need a new water line. The plumber that I had called did not do that kind of work. I asked him for a recommendation and he told me about Precision Plumbing. I had already called a few plumbers who had already told me the same thing - I needed a new water line, and the prices were, well, well beyond what I could afford. It was also scarey to hear what they had to do. When I spoke to Fred at Precision, he gave a price that was significantly less than the other quotes. He also sounded as if he knew what he was doing, had the equipment and ability to do the job, including dealing with getting the necessary permits and putting the lawn back together. In short he made a nightmare into a par for the course. I have waited more than 6 months to write this review to make sure I had no surprise problems. In that time I have used Precision for more mundane problems with other properties. Fred is totally professional, co-ordinates well with all of my tenants, comes as necessary - and that means immediately, on weekends and holidays if necessary (like basemenet flooding). He is easy to deal with, effective, and reasonably priced. I am 100% satisfied with him in every way. read more

Love Precision plumbing! I couldn't be happier with the services I received both Monday, 1 May 2017 and Wednesday, 3 May 2017. Richard Hertz, was my main tech. He was professional, cleanly (which is a huge plus), and thorough. He answered all my stupid questions and after realizing a simple power rod would not suffice, quickly quoted and scheduled a power washing of sorts for the main sewer line in my 100 year old home. He listened attentively to my sad sob story about water pouring through my basement floor drain at 2am, and offered sincere sympathy and a viable, reasonable solution. He was kind enough to see our job through to the end. We had Vince McKittrick for the 'power washing' on Wednesday. He too was thorough and cleanly. He let me hover over his shoulder, watching the sewer camera, as he worked and explained each section of my piping to me as he went through it. I'm sure he had other jobs today, but I never once felt rushed, and he too, was very kind to answer all the stupid questions I asked. Plumbing problems are never fun, it is a downright disgusting and frustrating situation to find yourself in. While I hope to never need a plumber again, if and when I do, I will absolutely be calling Precision and I will continue to recommend them to my family, friends and neighbors. read more

I've been a Precision Pro member for over a year. While some of their services were decent, albeit overpriced, I trusted the company based on past experiences. However, my recent experience with their HVAC installation was a complete disaster. This summer, when I had issues with my AC unit, I called Precision. The technician recommended replacing it with a new HVAC system that cost nearly $18,000. Trusting their judgment, I went ahead with the installation. The process was rushed, carried out by what appeared to be an inexperienced crew, leaving me concerned about the quality of their work. They assured me they would return to check everything, but no follow-up ever happened. Fast forward to winter, and the heating unit isn't working properly. After countless calls to Precision, someone finally came out, only to confirm that the system was incorrectly configured during installation. While Precision may provide acceptable service in other areas, their HVAC installations are overpriced and poorly executed. I would strongly advise against trusting them with such an important and costly job. You're better off going with a more affordable and reliable company! read more

Ray B was awesome! As were the folks I spoke to in the office. Our 2nd floor tub started leaking on the first floor on a Friday night (of course). Precision Plumbing was available when I called first thing Saturday morning and had availability to come out same day. On top of that, they were friendly and accommodating. The little details were what made the whole team great - The first woman I spoke to was great - understood our problem and got us all set up. The call before coming meant we didn't have to wait around all day. They even asked where it was best to park so we weren't inconvenienced by the truck. The same day service was of course just what we needed. When Ray arrived he greeted me at the door with his name, and asked before coming in (not like how some repair guys just grunt hello and barge into your house). Ray put on shoe covers and went to work - very professional the whole way through. He gave a complete estimate and explained exactly what was needed. He even went above and beyond and tightened up a faucet handle on a sink in the bathroom! Ray was phenomenal. We will call precision for any future plumbing needs. read more

I had a similar experience to "WorkHard". I called Precision Plumbing to come out and replace a toilet and some valves and 4 days later my basement was flooded. They came back out and gave me a $21,000 estimate on a "premium" solution...the estimate for a "band-aid" solution was nearly $9,000. They put a camera through the pipes as a basis for the estimates, rather than just rodding them out for a couple hundred bucks. It also seems coincidental to me that they were just here and then my basement flooded a few days later...this has never happened to me in the 40 years that I've lived here. I was alone and was shaking and crying by the time they left. They saw a senior citizen and tried to take advantage. They gave me a hard sell and tried to get me to agree to it on the spot, which thankfully I didn't. They gave me the impression that disaster was imminent if I didn't get the work done and that I shouldn't use my washing machine while any other water was running. Very upsetting and irresponsible on their part. I just received a second opinion from another plumber who charged me $185 for a rodding. read more
