It's the Armory, baby! If you're looking for disastrously overpriced food that's pretty OK at best, here's your home away from home. The phenomenally-named right-to-the-point Premier Meat Pies is one of these places. I spent eight dollars on a steak and mushroom pie which was about the size of my fist and about as filling as something considerably smaller. (For the area, I think that's cheap.) The verdict: it's in the upper echelons of the Armory, which is to say - as mentioned before - that it's pretty OK. I enjoyed my pie, but it's also exceedingly hard to screw up meat and gravy in a flaky crust. I wasn't filled, and would probably have continued to be hungry if I hadn't had lunch a few hours back, but as an extremely expensive fast-food snack I was satisfied. Nothing about the pie was particularly special - the crust was fine but a little tough, the meat was a little overseasoned but still pretty good, and the mushrooms were definitely there - but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. I reserve three-star ratings for places I could half-heartedly recommend to friends - if you're in the area and are hungry, you could do worse. That's Premier Meat Pies to a T: it's pretty fine, somewhere to go if you're hungry in the Seattle Center and don't want to spend more than ten minutes finding a genuinely good meal or snack. I can't say that's a particularly low bar to have cleared, but Premier Meat Pies cleared it nonetheless. Any other bars remain unhopped, but sometimes you just need something savory. read more

This is a cool little spot to get some unique meat pies! When I got there at 11:30 the pies were fresh out the oven and really toasty. I tried the chicken hatch chili, which was my favorite. Flavorful chicken chili under a corn masa top. Lamb curry was also delicious. I'd love to try the mac and cheese pie as well as some of the sweet pies! read more

Hands down the best meat pies I've had in the Pacific Northwest. The Scottish pies had a generous stuffing of meat, nicely spiced and mixed with oats. Plenty of other traditional and nontraditional flavored. What really impressed me was the crust, which was thin but sturdy, with crisp and solid bits in all the right places. No mean feat. A bonus was Mexican Coke. Ignore the low star ratings and check these guys out. read more

I was a hear for an event and came here for lunch. Premier Meat Pies is located inside a food court of some pretty good choices, and because of Yelp, it was the spot I wanted to eat lunch at. Day one of our event, I waited in line for about 15 minutes before I was told by the girl at the cashier that they ran out of pies and I had to wait like 10-20 minutes for one. What? I said forget it I'm hungry so had something else. Day two of our event, I decided to go right away to grab one of these little jewels. I had the cottage pie, because she said that's what she would choose out of the ones that were left. The "pie" was super flaky and had a pretty good crunch to it. I had steak and some other goodies in it. I would say, for a small lunch, it was pretty filling. I didn't know how it would compete against burgers and fries, but it certainly did its job since I finished it and I didn't feel all sleepy and gross afterwards. If you're here for an event, it's definitely worth a try if you want something different than a burger, burrito, salad, or the normal stuff you can get pretty much anywhere. read more

My family and I tried the chicken pie, shepards pie, and the chili mac & cheese pie. All were pretty tasty! The service wasn't great but it fast! I give this 4 stars because they didn't seem fresh. The meat pies sit in a case on the counter and don't come out very hot or flaky. They don't re-heat or toast them for you, they just put them on a plate straight from the case. Still good though. Portions aren't huge so we also ordered fries from another cafe in the food court. Also, they didn't have ice so they wouldn't give us free waters and we had a pretty hard time getting it elsewhere because it was so busy. read more

I have a local meat pie place in LA that I love and made me want to try Primier when I was taking a break from my event in Key Arena. It didn't have a huge line which was a plus because everything else was slammed. Guess the line was shorter because everyone knew the food wasn't that staler. I got the mac and cheese crusted pie because I was sharing with a vegetarian. The disappointing thing here was clearly how long the pie had been sitting in the hot case. I ordered a pie and plain tots, first, before two other orders and I received it nearly last. When I said something I was given the excuse that it was warming up. My order was in fact not being warmed up. The other person pulled a pie and put tots in a container right in front of me. Come on man. Get it together. I really like the idea of this restaurant. I'm a fan of pies, and this place has a decent selection, plus sausage rolls, another British delicacy that is not well supplied in the USA. The food quality is good (but see below), and the location is convenient (in the Seattle Center Armory). There are three problems. First, the selection of sides is a bit thin, and I often find myself wishing for more. Second, they don't have a simple British-style chicken and mushroom pie, but instead the much less appealing US version that has carrots, peas, etc. Most importantly, their food freshness is hit and miss. I've been there more than once and been served dry food that had clearly been sitting around too long. Still worth a try. Stick to busy times. read more

I'll be honest, this place caught at the name, as I'm a sucker for a good meat pie. The menu has a creative selection that gives options without being overwhelming. I had the Scottish barley pie, which was amazing even though it was so hot I burnt my mouth a little by eating too fast. The staff was friendly and flexible, even amidst the understandable hiccups of their first day open for business. The only downside was that my friend, who has an onion allergy, wasn't able to find anything to get, as all the pies had onion or onion powder in them. Strang allergy, but interesting every single time had the ingredient. The next time I'm in Seattle, I will definitely be coming again to try more of their pies (and Mac & cheese!). read more

I love meat pies, there's a little shop in NYC on First and 1st that will always hold a special place in my heart and so I'll try and not let that anchor my review for PMP. I really enjoyed the three pies we ordered here, which were the Shepherds, Curry Lamb, and Scottish. All were very tasty with somewhat moist innards and crispy outsides, somewhat. I thought the curry was the most flavorful of the bunch while the shepherds had the best filling. They aren't the best, maybe that's because we came "late" (7p) and they had been sitting on the heat rack for too long but mos def room for a little improvement. Honestly, one of the main reasons I'm giving this 4 instead of 3 stars is because they actually stayed open through and past the hours on Yelp and the guy working the counter was super friendly. read more

Probably my favorite place in the food choices at the Armory. The meat pies are really good, rich and filling for the small stature. They also have really good dessert pies. The one that is really solid is the Elvis one with bacon, banana and chocolate . Super rich ! So, plan to share it and it get it with Ice cream if you really want to do it like the King. read more

The tater tots are out of this world. Sausage pie was good too, fresh out of the oven, made with greatness! I came here for a lunch/snack during Folklife. I wasn't particularly drawn to any of the food stands outside and most of them had long lines. Premier Meat Pies had a fairly short line (though their seating area was mostly full), plus it sounded good, so that's where we ended up. I ate a Guiness Irish Stew Pie ($6.99), which had beef and vegetables (potato, carrot, onion) inside. I enjoyed the pie. I love beef stew, and having it inside a pie was an interesting variant because I have generally only eaten chicken pot pies in the past. Eating the pie with a fork was kind of awkward because of how flaky it was; I think if I come here again I'll just eat it with my hands. The pie tasted a bit too salty to me, but I've been mostly doing my own cooking lately and don't use much salt. Pies range in price from $5.99-$8.49 depending on the filling. While they look kind of small, they are hearty for the size. The Armory is somewhat overpriced in general, unfortunately. There are also sides available, such as salads and mashed potatoes. The sides are actually fairly large; the tater tots and mashed potatoes come in a paper "boat" that's bigger than the pies themselves. If you're on a budget, you can probably make a decent meal out of the sides here. They serve alcohol (beer and cider) though you have to stay in their little seating area to drink it. I don't know why a vegetarian in a food court would intentionally choose a place with "meat" in the name, but it looked like they had a few options that might have been vegetarian friendly (mac and cheese pie, broccoli slaw). Since I'm not vegetarian though I didn't ask to ensure there weren't any hidden meat ingredients. Good option in the Armory! I would not go out of my way to eat here (because I can get a lot more food for the price elsewhere) but may stop by again if I'm at Seattle Center and hungry. 3.5 but I'm rounding up here. read more

I was really stoked about trying this place while visiting Seattle. It was just fine as a grab and go option for picnicking outside. They had the food ready really quickly! (Our friends were standing in line FOREVER at the noodle place). Be forewarned though that the pies are fairly small so it is good to add sides or order multiples if you have an appetite. The Pea Salad $2.99 was creamy, fresh, and satisfying. The Shepherds Pie, Chicken Pie & Curry Lamb Pie ($6.99 each) were also good, but not something I was especially wowed by. I wish I would have been more adventurous and tried some of their other flavours! (I use the British spelling here due to the fact we are working with meat pies). read more

I had the chicken pot pie. It was very good, albeit easily broken, leading to a small mess on the plate. I also had the mashed potato with gravy side, which was also good (especially if you like gravy, as there was a lot of - I am not a huge gravy fan myself). The service was very fast and friendly. I didn't get to eat here & that's the reason for this one star review. Their yelp account says they're open until 7pm. I double-checked because there were a few other eateries around the food court that was closed/closing. I also seen the employee that was working poke her head out from the back - it looked like she was checking to see if she had any customers - then disappeared to the back again. I walked up to the counter & noticed two things...1) a sign that said "Be back by 4:20" & it was currently 5:30 & 2) a silver bell to ring for service. However I didn't ring it because as I was about to she walked out from the back to the front seating area & started sweeping. Okay, that's fine because it's important to maintain cleanliness. But I had looked at her, made eye contact & I greeted her while she ignored me & continued to sweep. I left without ordering anything. read more

The people rating this place 4-5 stars must be high on something or lacking taste buds. Those are the only possible explanations. The pies are not freshly made. The cashier informed me of a delay in getting my order because the pies would have to be made from FROZEN. Speaking of which, the pies tasted eerily similar to the grocery bought ($1) frozen pot pies I grew up with. They were okay back then, but not in this case. I tried both the beef mushroom and lamb curry pies. The gravy in both pies were salty enough but totally lacking in the meaty depth of flavor in a good sauce/gravy. The curry pie was totally lacking in any kind of spicy kick. I really don't know how restaurants like this survive and even thrive. You can get far superior pies from your local grocer in the form of Marie Callendars frozen pot pies for a lot cheaper. No need to make a trip to Seattle Center. read more

I'm sad to see that the most recent reviews of this place are so terrible! I actually really enjoyed my lunch. Premier Meat Pies is located in the armory and if you do any yelp research you'll realize quite quickly how many of these places have very bad reviews. I decided I'd try a meat pie since this seemed to be the most interesting and positive establishment (minus the pizza place). I ordered the chili cheese macaroni filled meat pie, it wasn't as heavy as you might imagine. It was tasty though! I'll admit my mom's steak and mushroom pie was a lot more enjoyable to me...sometimes less is more. My pie was good, but could have been made better by being hotter and maybe by me adding hot sauce, but it was good. The dough was tasty and the macaroni tasted good enough to my standards. The green onions and sour cream on top added a nice touch to the entire pie. The mushroom pie had an amazing sauce and was much hotter on the inside than mine. The temperature made a big difference in the enjoyment, it seemed to heighten the savory flavor. Service was fine, nothing to complain about. Full disclosure: I've not been to this specific shop BUT I have been eating the pies these folks make for years. They make some of the best meat pies I've ever had, my favorite is the Curry Lamb, which I always get one of whenever they've setup shop at an event I'm attending. I also love the Scottish Pie and the Shepherds. I don't know how they do it but the crust is the perfect mixture of flakey but still holding together so it doesn't explode in your hands. Give these folks a go, I strongly recommend it. I wish they had a storefront near me but I know the next time I'm up in Seattle I'll be visiting to overeat. read more
