I was told to my face that I "have champagne taste on a beer budget" They should consider changing the name from Premier to Pretentious Subaru. Had been searching for the right Subaru Forester for weeks. Had done my research, so I knew that Sales Consultant Dalton was being honest and upfront with the figures he presented. We completed the transaction and I'm now waiting for delivery. My sales experience here was fine but I would not recommend for service. After three bad experiences with having to return after incomplete and botched service, I will be looking elsewhere for my beloved Subie. Sorry Premier- I shouldn't have to return to the shop because your mechanics can't install simple parts without failure to ensure drive safety. I recently bought a 2018 Legacy. Love my car and the Saleman I had, Kevon! But the 2 times I have had to deal with the service department has been nothing less than useless. About 3 weeks after purchasing the car a low tire light went on. The service department was closed when I brought it in and I was told that I could not get a loaner as the only people who could authorize it were the service department. As the tires don't take the regular air I had no idea as to what to do. Kevon put a bit of regular air in for me and I had to bring the car back and make arrangements to borrow a car until my tire was repaired. When I picked up the car I was a little surprised that they didn't replace the tire but put a patch in it, and surprised that the car was not given a car wash-no big deal but according to the commericals it should have been. Today, I called in regards to my blue tooth not working all of a sudden. Basically I was told to bring the car in and talk to the sales person who I purchased the car from and maybe they could help me. Really I thought that's what service department was for! UPDATE: After posting this I received a call from the service department. Arrangements were made for me to come in and have their service department help figure out why the blue tooth lost connection . The service manager Scott and the tech were extremely helpful and i greatly appreciate the service I received today. read more

This dealership wasted my time. I scheduled an appointment with them for 1 o'clock on a Sunday. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told by a disinterested gum snapping receptionist that "oh yeah, we really don't take appointments on weekends and were really busy so it's going to be a while. " If you don't take appointments on weekends why do you set them up? After waiting there over an hour without anyone else from the dealership evening knowledge and that we were there. If you're seriously looking for Subaru don't waste your time with Premier. There are other great Subaru dealerships near miles away. read more

I recently went to this dealership to have my subaru legacy looked at, and I was appualed at the service I had received. I had brought it in to have a rim checked out and I was given the run around. After having the rim checked I was told that I had wasted their time and that it would cost me 1300$ for wheel bearings.I will never go to this establishment again and I don't recommend anyone purchase a vehicle or bring their vehicle there for service. I think 0 stars it will be the right score, if I only had read some of this reviews I won't be in this situation. I bought a certified used car seven months ago two weeks after problems they said is fixed, but after 6 months guaranty breaks again with almost 5K on repairs, of course the do not want to cover it, they knew from the beginning about this . They are not honest with customers about gasket problems in the engine now I have a car with a broken engine with just 7 months after purchase. This is not how you make business somebody needs to stop this if anyone reads this careful with used subaru ,gasket problems and this dealers won't tell consumers about it. read more

I bought my 2006 Subaru outback from this location in June of 2014 and it has been one problem after the next. The people I worked with gave no indication of any imminent troubles - quite the contrary. We were confident going into this purchase. A week after I bought it, it started smoking and smelling like burnt oil. I bring it back - they say an axel boot is cracked so they replace it. A week later - same thing. They say it's grease burning. I bring my car in for a recall inspection and am notified that the smoking and smell is a busted head gasket. I had to really struggle to get that taken care of under the warranty, and finally they agreed to. They were at least good about that. But now, five months later, I get a wheel bearing replaced and find out that I barely made it before it was too late. Just be cautious about what you're buying from here. after writing a review for this dealership (which i just removed to replace with this update) , the owner contacted me through yelp email, and tried to say my review was false and THEY ended a relationship with me 10 years ago and asked that i never to come back. To thier dealership lol Thats pretty funny since i leased 2 outbacks from them and when my last lease was up in July 2004 they begged me to lease another but i decided to upgrade to an Acura..... They never had issues with me he just has to slander me to make his business look better Anyway, I recently went there after 11 years of owning an Acura looking at the crosstek as i heard good things about the car and a kia as i been in market for a new car...this dealership was awful. And in fact my two friends each felt the same and both bought their crosstek from Danbury subaru due to deceit and lies this place gave them a few days ago i contacted mr alvine as they kept sending emails ( which they also have been doing throughout the 11years despite me asking to be removed constantly) and i told him i wanted to be removed from mailing list and his response was nasty defensive and Gain said he ended our "relationship 10 years ago" .......yesterday i went on auto trader to see what they would give me for my car as im looking to sell it or use it as a downpayment for the bmw i just ordered unbeknownst to me they sent it to this dealership based on my zipcode. And that in past i was interested in a subaru Mr Alvine then read my review and emailed me through yelp me and stated i am lying and slandered him. He said he contacted yelp to have my review removed as its lies and i wasnt looking for a car .......he is right about the last part as i just ordered a BMW. Excellent in every aspect & highly recommended: Finally, a dealership whose employees care about your concerns even after the sale! Both the sales person (Dalton) and the service person (Scott) go above and beyond to answer every question, provide top notch service, and show great patience (I had endless questions; they addressed all my concerns completely). Jeff Lambert is the guy you want to to talk to if you are interested in purchasing a vehicle. he was very helpful and polite and took the time to listen to my concerns and needs. he also didn't seem intimidated or annoyed that I had my older brother in law with me who used to be a car salesman. Jeff is great and I recommend him to all my friends interested in purchasing a new vehicle. Premier Subaru do have the best dealership prices in south Connecticut. I was a loyal Subaru owner for 8 years. The service department is very good here but don't try to buy a car here they won't give you a price. I wasted a bunch of time going up there they wanted to meet in person as opposed to giving me a price for the car. They also wanted to charge me for frivolous things like Nitrogen in tires basically a $1,200 surcharge on the price of the car. Update: The old saying goes "the customer is always right" I had the heartfelt intent to buy my car from this dealership but felt like I was getting the runaround I found it much easier to deal with Subaru of Stamford as they provided with me with options in their inventory and prices out the door. I am providing this feedback so you don't make the same mistake with somebody else who is willing to buy a car within a week and has cash. You need to say what is it that you want and how can we close this deal not what you want. I even talked to the president of the dealership which made my stomach turn because it seemed like he was using all the oldest tricks in the book and I thought buying a Subaru had a higher end no haggle mentality. read more

This review is for their service dept. I have dealt with the dealer side and they were fine. My wife had gone there years before and they seemed to be always fair and professional with their work, but....... I have had three major repairs with them and two out of the three were almost laughable with the amount of neglect they showed on their part. 1. Brought car in to have front passenger side axle replaced and they replaced the wrong one (front driver side) and sent me home with the car making the same clunking sound it came in with. The Positive to the story is now I have two new axles for the price of one. But just shows their amateur capabilities. 2. Had head gasket and valve covers replaced. Part of the procedure is to remove the power steering fluid reservoir. Got car back and every time I turned the wheel the power steering moaned loudly. Followed up with a phone call explaining whats happening. They said that happens when they take the reservoir off sometimes and it has old seals that need to be replaced . Why not put them in when the car is apart instead of me having to drive back up and make another appointment? Which is what I had to do. 3. I was considering buying a car from a private seller (that I did end up purchasing two years ago) but wanted them to look it over and make sure it was sound (same car from previous two comments) . They said it is a solid car. With my first Monday morning commute to work I did notice that the transmission had a rather loud whirring sound but just chalked it up to an all wheel drive subaru outback being loud. A mechanic friend of mine was in the car not too long ago and he commented right away that the transmission is no good and will probably need to be replaced in the near future, which is where I am now. He asked how long has it sounded like that? Since the day I bought it, I figured Premire Subaru would have picked up on that loud transmission sound and some red flags would have gone off. But no. Also they put on Premire Subaru licence plate frames without asking, as if they own my car. That would be fine if they did a decent job or even simply asked. read more

I don't know where to begin to say what great service and care the team at Premier Subaru gave me in the recent purchase of my Subaru Forester! Ted was excellent at making sure everything was taken care of, even making a call to my insurance company shortly after midnight because of some bizarre rule they had that they couldn't release the information until the day the sale was final. The business manager, finance manager and Ted all came in early on the day of pick-up to allow me to get in and out and on my way to work in a timely manner! I can't say enough! OK we bought the car! Dealing with Premier was great, Stanley was a helpful sales person and everything went without a hitch!

The worst service experience I've ever had. I took my car (under warranty) in because it drinks oil and SLAMS into gear. I had a 8am appointment, dropped the car off, explained the problem and had a very nice gentlemen give me a ride home. Great. They did an oil change and said they'd call when they found out what was wrong with the car. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. I called the next morning at 8, and was told someone would call me back in 10 minutes after they checked into it. I called back at 10 am. Was told again I'd have someone call me back. I called at 12 and got the same answer. At 12:30 I called and asked to speak to the service manager and was angry. He was out test driving my car. I left a message and the woman on her phone said she'd leave it on his keyboard so he would see it when he got back. Finally he called me back, said they couldn't find anything wrong with my transmission and could go pick it up. When I picked it up the service manager told me they checked the software and firmware and found nothing wrong with the transmission. He also said if you put the wrong oil in or over fill it can slam but it's not the transmission. Yeah ok. My husband took the car to another Subaru dealership and they FIXED the slamming in less than an hour. They drove the car and said right away "yeah that's not right". Low and behold it was a simple computer issue that needed an upgrade. That patch has been available since 2011. Women, take you business to another dealership where they don't treat you like you're an idiot. Needless to say I won't EVER be returning to premier and will be taking my business elsewhere. Premier is the worst. I would give zero stars if possible. read more

We just purchased a 2013 Outback. As a woman, I was respected by the young salesman. I would rather have surgery than purchase a car. Dan C. respected the fact that my time was limited on my first trip to the establishment. Dan answered by questions with ease. We went through the lot trying to locate the car that would meet our family's needs. He easily communicated by phone and by email. He searched and searched and went overboard in laying out car options. We knew the options before my husband would arrive for a test drive. After seeing a car listed by this dealership on cars.com, I called to discuss buying it. The salesman told me that they were still cleaning the car and that he'd call me back as soon as it was ready, and said I'd be offered first dibs on the car. Shortly thereafter, I noticed that the car was removed from the cars.com website, and shortly after that, it reappeared for $1000 higher than the originally listed price! When I called to ask about the car once again (nobody had even bothered to call me back), the salesman said that they'd made an error, wanted to put new tires on the car, and sell it for a higher price. When asked if they'd honor the original ad, he said he'd have to check, but never followed up. A really lousy bait and switch, and a bad way to do business! Don't bother with them. read more

Pushed button for service department and was put on hold for 3 minutes and then hung up on. Called again and after a 15 minute phone call including hold time was given an appointment that was 2 weeks away as the earliest appointment I could get. We had a good experience with our car salesman, Adam! We first inquired about a specific car online (autotrader.com) and made an appointment to come see it. When we pulled into the dealership, the car was pulled out to the front so we could see the car. He showed us everything in the car, let us test drive it, and let us not make a final decision that day. We called back 2 days later and told him we did in fact want to move forward. He was not too pushy and took his time with us! Overall a good experience and we got a new car now! :) read more

We had a great experience at Premier. We came in on a busy Sunday, but Nadine made time for us and patiently took us on test drives of three vehicles (we weren't sure what we wanted/needed). She is extremely knowledgeable about the vehicles and others in their class. Follow-up was steady but not intrusive. We were given a deal which was exactly what we expected from online research. If you're going to Premier Subaru, go see Ted!! I don't write reviews. Ever. But I feel that Ted, my sales person for my 2015 Impreza Limited, is great and just seems to be a genuinely nice human being. He was extremely knowledgeable and very patient in going over the features and answering my questions. He went above and beyond his duties to help me out and he didn't try to upsell me. 1) Took an Uber to the dealership thinking I could take the car home. It was a Sunday and the finance and service departments were closed, so I had to pick it up on Monday. He gave me a ride back to New Haven and also picked me up the next day to pick up my car at the dealership so I didn't have to take a cab. 2) Called him inquiring about Auto Armor since I was worried about salt/elements damage during the winter, and I was under the impression that Auto Armor is designed for something like that, especially preventing undercarriage rusting. He explained it's designed for paint and interior protection, but nothing is done for the undercarriage. He could have easily lied and said I needed the Auto Armor or that it would help. He also explained that Subarus are factory coated with a treatment that helps prevent rusting, and suggested I choose the undercarriage spray option at the car wash in the winter. I'm from the West Coast, so I don't know these things. General Manager Rich is very nice and cares about his customers. He makes sure you got everything you need and are completely satisfied before you leave. I wanted all-weather floor mats, but the service department was closed. I didn't want to come back just for floor mats since I have a busy schedule, so he made it happen. He helped me put them in to ensure they were a perfect fit. When the ones they had in the building did not fit perfectly (they fit but they have different models that are custom fitted to your particular car), he sent someone to the storage across the street to get the right ones. Although this dealer seems poorly rated online I personally had quite the opposite experience. I liked the ability to walk through the lot without being overwhelmed with salesman allowing me to look at all the vehicles and make a preliminary selection. Once I narrowed it down to a few I went inside and was instantly helped. My salesman was Kevon, we went through the models I was interested in. I narrowed it down to a Subaru Legacy which Kevon was quite knowledgeable about all the features. All and all they were very helpful and made this car buying process very easy. I can't say enough good about the salesman. Only rating 4 stars because I have not tried the service department yet, and on pickup day it I wasn't seen until and it did take about 2 hours with finance. I will update review after I have my vehicle in for service accordingly. Overall 10/10 would purchase another vehicle from this dealership. read more

I just bought my fifth Subaru, my third through Adam at Premier Subaru. I have always been treated well at Premier and have always been happy with the service department. My last two car purchases were completed in one day, speedily and completely to my satisfaction. While there is a Subaru dealer in my town, I drive the distance to Premier willingly because I am so happy with the dealership. I love my 2016 Outback and believe it drives better and is quieter than my 2014 Outback. read more

I do not recommend going to this Subaru dealership. I recently went there to trade in my moms Subaru, who recently passed, and then purchase a car for myself. First thing they did that was unsatisfactory was that they fought me over 400$ on the blue book value of my dead mom's car even though a week before I traded it in they quoted me the higher trade in value but because it was a week later they said the car was devalued by 400$ in that time span. In the end I was not able to get the full trade in value that they quoted me a week prior. After that I then bought a used car from them which had a lean code go off within a month of purchasing the car. This lean code was not able to be fixed until several trips to a mechanic and thousands of dollars spent. They also sold me the car with a ton of safety features not up to par. For example, I had to get all new brakes (rotors and pads), four new tires, spark plugs, power steering flushed, and many more maintenance items done to the car within the first couple of months, showing that this Subaru dealership is not of high character and does not care about the quality OR SAFETY of their product or customers as all of these items that I have mentioned could have been fixed by the dealership for pennies on the dollar . But, instead of fixing them they chose to cover up these problems, put the customers life in danger and make me foot the bill for all these safety issues that any reputable dealership would have fixed before even putting the car out on the lot to be sold. Lastly, I was stupid enough to go back to this dealership for a maintenance checkup, where they charged me 30$ for an oil change. I thought this was a good deal, but I was wrong. The Subaru dealership employee gave me that price and changed my oil knowing full well that he was giving me conventional oil in my car even though it recommended at the worst a half and half blend. So, this means that he nor anyone at the Subaru dealership in Branford CT cared about the quality of their service or the quality of the car's lifespan, but instead was just looking for the business and gave me the cheapest product they had even though it wasn't the best thing for my car. To conclude I highly suggest you look somewhere else for a car because they are going to try to take advantage of you every way they can while giving you an inferior product. This dealership has no class, character, or respect. read more

Leased a Subaru Outback from this dealership. When we first arrived it was busy, but we sat at a table for over an hour in the showroom. No one spoke to us or acknowledged us. So we got up and left with three employees in the back corner chatting watching us leave. We came back later and managed to nab a sales person, Dmitri. He was straightforward and fairly easy to deal with. We made our deal in about an hour. Dmitri drove us over to the lot where the vehicle we preferred was stored for us to have a look at it, and we made arrangements for us to pick it up on Wednesday, three days later. Show up on Wednesday and everyone just looks at us. Seems they forgot we were coming to pick up a car. No problem, I see it parked across the street so it takes a little longer and we drive away. The finance manager we dealt with was probably the nicest person we've met at the dealership. A week later we get a call from the dealership, they made a mistake on the paperwork. So back in to have them give us a new contract and resign paperwork. Then we get the survey that says we've met the service department staff and toured the service department, no we didn't. But maybe they forgot. So far it's a standard experience with a car dealership. Then comes a letter from the dealership saying your credit has been refused. We've been driving the car for two weeks, what kind of issue can this be? So back to the dealership on Sunday. See Dimitri who tries to explain it, but he says he'll have the finance people call us the following morning. No call in the morning, so my wife calls the dealership and gets Rodney Pomerleau from finance. She has a simple question about the credit letter. Well lets say Rodney must really think women are stupid. I can't really recall an employee of a business who was more dismissive, rude, and generally obnoxious. He continually interrupted my wife and talked over her. His reason of explaining the letter was telling her federal guidelines that they had to send out letters, since they weren't a lending institution. Makes sense, but then he proceeded to say in the snottiest manner possible that maybe he should tell Mr. Trump that she doesn't agree with his policies. Really? So my wife says it would just be a good idea if they forewarned customers about this letter. He justs laughs at her and says, sure maybe I'll bring that up at our meeting tomorrow, again dripping with sarcasm. The whole time rude and constantly interrupting her. He told her to file the letter for posterity. How can you really have an employee like this in this day and age? Just this alone would keep me from suggesting this dealership to anyone's wife, daughter or mother. If this is the way he acts, I'm almost afraid to see what servicing a vehicle would be like. read more

Great customer service from beginning till the end. The sales person that I met initial was super enthusiastic, his name is Esteban Santiago. He had very pleasant demeanor and made me comfortable about the process. In fact he picked me up from home on the delivery day. I was well received by Rich the General Sales Manager and he went above and beyond honoring the Costco Auto program quote. The finance department was fantastic and explained every aspect of the process clearly. I received a rate better than I would with my credit union. It is a no pressure environment. The staff at Premier were wonderful, there is an air of joy and camaraderie at the office which I have not seen at any other locations in around my area. read more
