I can't get enough of this place. I love everything they make. So fresh and healthy and yummy! Every time I step in one I try something new. I also love that they actually give me great ideas of combinations of foods to make on my own at home. My favorite items are their berry bites and love bites, as well as their balsamic chicken and avocado sandwiches. I always try out their pots, and I really enjoy theor banana and honey pot. Only 3 stars because you do not get a lot of bang for your buck. Having eaten at the original London location back in the mid 90s, this Pret is different than I remember. They manage to squeeze a large varety of sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. into a tiny space, but the portions are not that big either. The quality is excellent but you pay a premium for it, and like some reviewers noted, unless you buy a couple of items, you might leave hungry. I am a big fan of their salads which are more filling than they look, but I am not a fan of paying 55 cents extra (plus tax) for a second salad dressing. The carrot cake is to die for, but $3 for a slice so small you can eat it in 2 bites is a bit much. The sandwiches are okay, but they are cheap with the condiments, so they are what the hubby refers to as "dry assed." They do not provide condiment packets, so bring your own if you like your sandwiches moist. When they first opened I had such an awful experience that I sent the manager a letter that was ignored. I'm glad I gave them another chance - my bad experience had more to do with customer service than the food. Pretty good food if you don't mind paying about $10 just for a salad with extra dressing. read more

Consistently solid service and fresh food. I go bonkers for the falafel. It's ALWAYS a solid choice. I love the calorie counts on the salads and sandos. I eat here once a week and could not ever imagine going back to nasty Subway or Quiznos after how good the veggies and Bell & Evans chicken are at Pret. I would give it five stars, but I have had some disappointing experimental sandwiches. During Lent, it was difficult for them to keep the falafel stocked. I eat here almost every single day. If you've spent anytime abroad and have never been , imagine the Marks & Spencer prepackaged sandwich cooler- but better. Their food is fresh, affordable and tasty without breaking your daily calorie count. The staff is friendly but efficient and quick- a plus for busy grab-and-go days. There's comfortable seating, but it can get a little loud and I find it's best for takeaway. I can't ever imagine going back to an Au Bon Pain or Subway after this. There's enough variety to eat here every day of the week and not get bored. The menu changes often, but current wonderful picks are the Brie & Tomato Baguette, the Chicken Cesar Salad Wrap & the Classic Cheddar and Tomato. Their soup is healthy and warming on chilly rainy days- my only complaint is that the Miso soup is not available in a small. Try the Love Bar bite. First timer here. Got a coffee, water, and egg & bacon baguette. The baguette was not what I expected, it exceeded my expectations. The egg salad was not overly "mayo-y" and had the right amount of pepper and the bacon went well with it. The best part, all three was under $8, which is unheard of in DC (at least to me). I've loved Pret A Manger since moving to DC; it's always quick and I seriously love their light roast coffee. Sadly, this is one of the few places in and around the FW metro that has decent coffee past 6pm. As if the fresh and delicious food isn't reason enough to love this place, one could always appreciate the fact that they open their doors to DC's homeless at closing hours, giving away unsold leftovers to needing mouths as opposed to trash cans. I've been here about a dozen times since it opened. It's right next to the Starbucks I used to frequent for my morning mocha and I pass it coming out of the train station daily. I have been there about a 1/2 dozen times this month and these have been excellent: brie sandwich; avocado sandwich; no bread mozzarella/avocado sandwich; hummus sandwich; Morocan Lentil soup (I'm not usually a big lentil fan, but this was amazing and a coworker loves the Hungarian mushroom soup); lemon/orange muffin; & chocolate chip cookie (just like a homemade cookie. The chocolate case was a bit too intense for my taste though. People who work there are very friendly and quick (emphasis on quick which is important during the business days). I've seen these places in NYC, but figured they were just a tourist trap for Europeans -- not so. I'm not a fan as you can see! There's nothing at Pret that I couldn't make myself, or buy from the grocery store for less, but Pret is all about convenience, not culinary inventiveness or memorable meals. You roll in from the Metro all bleary-eyed on Monday morning (no time for breakfast at home!) or run down from your office with just 5 minutes before your next meeting...and you know Pret will give you something edible with fast service. The whole idea here is you grab your plastic-wrapped breakfast or lunch, you check out quickly, and you bounce (it's faster than even fast food). Spare me your "slow food" lectures and your "plan ahead and bring lunch" talks--the reality of modern living is that sometimes you gotta grab n' go. Pret is old reliable--it's like that guy or girl that's nice and stable but there's no sparks. The sandwiches and salads are pre-made and nothing groundbreaking (cold sandwiches on either baguette or sandwich bread--you don't get a lot of choices of breads here, boxed salads with chicken or tuna, bagels and cream cheese with and without salmon). However, there are usually some fairly healthy options, and the sandwiches and salads are not soggy despite sitting on a shelf, probably because there is high turnover and they are refreshed very frequently. Likewise, the coffee is nothing special or memorable flavor-wise but it's never straight-up offensive, either (haven't encountered burned or very watered-down coffee here). True to its "old reliable" tag, Pret's checkout is super fast, on point, and cheerful. The place does have a cafeteria vibe--lots of metal, big trays of prepared sandwiches in plastic--but you're likely not going to linger and it's clean given the traffic they encounter. Prices are more or less in line with what one would expect in downtown DC. read more

Pret is all about fast, but you pay for it. They basically took 7-11's idea of packaged sandwiches and made them with better ingredients. There is a large cold case against the wall, and you serve yourself. Just about everything is self serve there. The biggest difference between them and 7-11 is that they charge $7 for a little sandwich on wheat bread, you can get that at 7-11 for about $3. It's super fast and convenient, but overpriced. I'm giving this place 5 stars for their tasty sandwiches and 2 stars for the service. I went there twice and had 2 different vegetarian sandwiches that have to be the best I've ever purchased. Delicious! As far as service goes, my big pet peeve is when a cashier is carrying on a conversation with another person or multiple persons that have nothing to do with me while they are trying to do my transaction and talk to me at the same time. I've given most all of them two or three stars for being a complete rip where I can never manage to get full. Pret is still a complete rip, and I can't manage to get full, but the quality is higher. The staff was so sweet, I mean borderline saccharine - I swear the cashier didn't stop smiling while ringing me up. The metro accident last week has me riding the Blue/Orange to avoid the Red line. Pret just calls you to come in with it's snazzy exterior. Everything looks very fresh and the place is oh so orderly. It's location is perfect right outside Farragut West Metro. This morning I was able to grab some breakfast and something for lunch on the go. It was all very tasty. The only strange thing was that my breakfast sandwich with eggs and bacon meant egg salad with bacon on it. Gross huh? super dissapointed. i saw flashy signs on their window, all the positive reviews here, and its european or something! how can you call something "just made" when its sitting in a prepackaged container?! i was hoping for something made to order. also, when you have a closed container in a cold environment and move it to a hot environment, you develop condensation. normally this wouldnt be too much of an issue, but the pre bread is wimpy and got soggy. the whole grain bread i get at the grocery store was denser than this... finally...the price. 6 dollars?! sorry, just not worth it. not only did i pay 9 bucks for a sandwich + tea at pret...im gonna have to pay 5 to go to the pizza place next door cause im still hungry. read more

I just don't see the hype about this place. The coffee is average the breakfast selections are few, and the food is no better then Dunkin' Donuts. If you're in a bind and need a cup of coffee this is a good place to go if you can't walk next to couple blocks to the nearest Starbucks.
