Self checkout line had plenty of open registers on a Friday morning and the herbal tea selection is more than adequate. I would never want anyone to drive 20 miles to the nearest Hannaford's when they can get pretty much everything they need here at the Price chopper. All in all a positive experience. I thought my previous review was posted but somehow it wasn't. I went to the service desk to get one of their shopper cards for the discount.. I don't remember the name of the woman working the counter but she was absolutely miserable to me. The rest of the shopping experience was fine. Typical grocery store - they don't have all the brands but since you'll probably find what you want. It was easy to pick up the essentials and bring them back. While vacationing here, this was where we shopped for our general groceries. It's an okay place. The aisles, mostly at the ends, are a bit cramped. They don't carry a hug variety of products, but sufficient for a weeks stay. Prices were moderately good, but a just bit on the high side compared to most stores. Lincoln NH- My husband and I cannot believe what just happened in this store. We are camping in Lincoln NH and we are from Virginia. I was born raised in Maine then lived 10 years in NH before moving to Virginia. We were buying groceries along with a 6 pack of beer ( even though I am 65 and my husband is 67 ) I know I still have to show my ID-every state requires. Anyways, because my husband did not have his ID on him the lady would not sell us the beer. She stated it was a NH law and that everyone in the party must show an ID. Ugh. We've been here about 5 years and reaaaaaly dislike this place. They have two states for produce: Rotten and underripe, choose wisely. It's pretty much what you would expect from a tourist town grocery store, or at least it would be if the Hannaford in North Conway didn't shame it daily. Here's our top tips for anyone visiting town: - If you're coming from the South, there's a Market Basket and giganto Walmart in Tilton just off 93, stop there to save money and stock up. - If you're coming from the North, just buy your groceries in Magog. Bienvenue a New Hampshire or something. - If this is a holiday weekend, there will be one rotten/underripe rutabaga left in the produce department and no chicken unless you like the feet. The lines will also be absurdly long, so plan a whole Saturday for grocery shopping. Absolutley do not expect to pop in to grab one or two things, this grocery store is your home now, you cannot leave it. - If you need one thing for an odd recipe you will not find it here. Look, the people are nice sometimes. There's a Redbox. It's a good place for folks in town to work. It's just that it's a shameful and exceptionally overpriced grocery store compared to other ski towns in driving distance. It's also odd that they let the employees smoke right outside the front door. I mean, what says "buy more food" than a mouthful of secondhand smoke just before walking in? read more

Price Chopper? Seems more like salary chopper. We are frequent tourists to the area and this store is a disaster. Woefully understaffed. Long lines (like 20 minutes plus) at any random time with one line open. It's supply and demand and they've chosen to underpay and overwork their staff rather than paying better and being properly staffed. Go elsewhere or lose half your day buying eggs. read more

If I could give zero, I would. Came here while on vacation; and I and my husband had a very unpleasant experience with one of their cashiers. She had attitude greeting us to begin with, and I had suggested that more items be put in bags ( as not to be wasteful ). She started to be cranky and grumbled, saying " it's your food do what you what" then she started to throw grocery stuff to the end of the rolling board at me and I questioned why she was throwing them and told her to stop doing that. She retorted " don't tell me what to do" so I got to her face and loudly told her that " I CAN TELL YOU WHAT TO DO BECAUSE I'M A CUSTOMER! " I expressed how very rude she was and I reported it to the manager on duty who really did not care and did not do anything about it. Staff is pathetic!!!! This place sucks. Good Customer service is non existent. They do give you attitude. I hope competitors can build their supermarkets in this town so Price Chopper would not have monopoly... I Live in town, and use the store when weather makes it difficult to travel 20 miles for needed food. It is clean, has a Great staff who appear to be overworked. They have a fast turn over of staff and are Always looking to hire. This is an upper management design. The prices are HIGH, by 50 cents to a dollar more than Walmart per item. Meats are good,but cost high. As you can see they have a high profit margin. This means the locals have it the hardest. And I strongly feel, just because you are from out of town, it does not justify a (tourist) price for an item. Not Fair. I have also seen the push for self check out. Another way to employ less staff and increase profit besides the higher prices. Its a shame when companies get greedy. store is clean, great staff, overpriced. read more

This store is great for short term tourists or if you live locally and just need a few things. If you live up here you're insane to shop here all the time. We go to Hannafords or Walmart about twice a month for a full food order and use the Price Chopper if we run out of things or just need a few things. When I worked at a time share, if a guest asked where the local store was, I would gladly tell them and recommend it but I'd also tell them that if they plan to stay for the full week, especially with kids, you're better off driving the 20 miles to stock up for a lot less money. When you're the only game in town, or in the area for that matter, you can get away with high prices and being a little rough around the edges. That said, it is a "port in the storm" to stock up on basics. My friend came to this location to buy a couple things including a bottle of wine. When the cashier asked to see his ID he showed her his valid passport. Not only did she refuse to serve him because of a made up law about needing to see his VISA as well as passport, but she made a complete spectacle of it and humiliated him in front of the rest of the people in line. I rarely leave Yelp reviews and only leave positive ones but it's important to me that this cashier is held responsible for her blatant bigotry and discrimination. The store is a mess, you go in for ready prepared food at deli and IF you are lucky you may find a Couple rotisserie chicken and not much else. Around lunch time one would think that fried chicken and other food items would be ready. I have been in there from 1045 to 1:30 PM and most of the time the only thing I find is the deli person leaning on the display case with nothing ready for food. The prices are way overboard and items are not stocked right. (make sense of this IF you can) buy one get one free and only one pack in the display case. One would think that at least two packages of meat would be there, but NOOO. So then you have to wait and see if the BUTCHER might worm out of his hole so you can ask for a second package. A lot of the staff are not very friendly and they make it seem that you are bothering them if you ask them a question. The Lincoln store is a drag on the ratings for others and I personally will be glad when the Market Basket in Plymouth NH opens, I will gladly drive the extra distance. Screw the locals with the prices and assortment, only there to get the money brought into town by the visitors. read more
