I had a bad experience here that is currently unresolved. I have spoken over the phone several times to more than one person and emailed as well to resolve this issue. I used my tiny storage unit two weeks out of the one month prepaid. I asked when I am done what do I do. I was told "call and give us 15 days notice So if you only need storage two weeks call two week from today" I did exactly that. I removed my lock, left my unit empty. I got onto the road and called after within One hour of leaving my unit empty and unlocked. Either another storage tenant or an employee put a lock on my empty done with storage unit. I have called and emailed and talked to manager Tanya who is disrespectful, rude, hostile. I said I'm down and I left it empty and she says to me " you will continue incurring charges to your account and it will go to collections and be a lot of money" I used your storage two weeks! You need to call a locksmith and check cameras and see who locked my unit whether it was a price employee or another tenant who is currently on my dollar, using my unit that they will not let me cancel. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. I will be reporting this fraud To my bank. I have moved away and it's not my lock, so my keys I threw away already won't work anyways. You guys need to organize and check your cameras. Very poor storage facility which is sad because when I signed Up they were nice and it was clean so it was helpful. then they never let you leave. Poor business practices being done here. I will be reporting all the excessive charges to my bank. I asked for the owners email and was rudely yelled at by Tanya so it appears they will continue to keep charging my empty locked unit without permission nor authorization from me. If you are going. To continue to keep charging the account why not just get a locksmith and charge me for your mistake? Your employee or your tenant did that to my unit . read more

Huge disappointment! I would not recommend Price Self Storage in Solana Beach to anyone. I have rented space here for 4 years, never been late on a payment, have been an excellent tenant. They continuously raise their prices --My bill is now double what it was when I first started renting! This final rent raise was the catalyst to find a better place, and I did. But to move out of that money pit they are charging me one month's rent for an empty locker. Why would they not want to accept my move out and rent it out to a new tenant? That is what the last place I rented from did, but they always had a waitlist. I guess Price must have many empty lockers and no renters because they are so overpriced. read more

Honestly the best. I waffled between two storage places and cancelled here to get a better deal. Sadly you get what you pay for when it comes to storage. This place is immaculate and the customer service is amazing. The other place was cheaper but totally disgusting. I called Sarah at the front desk and begged her to let me reclaim the unit I had just given up the day before. She happily obliged and even honored the deal we had struck previously. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER RENT A STORAGE UNIT FROM PRICE SELF STORAGE, ESPECIALLY SOLANA BEACH!!! I have been renting a space here for 13 months. In that time, my rate has increased %25 (4 different rate increases), with no signs of stopping. I was told this was because I took advantage of their so-called "one month free" offer (which is obviously a complete scam). They also "accidentally" doubled a late fee on me, which I have never been compensated for. Every time they send notice of a rate increase, they send "a chance to win a free month of rent." I would really like to know the names and numbers of the former winners, as with the way this place operates, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that this is also a scam. The facility itself isn't convenient or nice. Where my unit is located, it's difficult to park a moving vehicle on level ground. After receiving this last rate increase (12%!), I'm willing to take an entire day to move my belongings to another facility right next to it. Price Self Storage is absolutely despicable. Unless you like to be swindled, you will not rent from this atrocious establishment. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!!!! read more

The facility and grounds are top notch: clean, easy access, plenty of room for parking, well lit, and secure. Their customer service is horrendous! I also question the safety of belongings: gas fumes certainly would indicate a fire hazard. After renting a large unit for two years, I downsized to a smaller unit. Two weeks into my rental, I opened my storage and was hit with a blast of gasoline fumes. It was so strong, I scanned both walls to see if gas had spilled from one of the neighboring units. When I informed the office, they said they would look into it. Four weeks of complaining, including 3 visits to the office where Chris kept saying the manager, Titus, would contact me (and not once did I hear from Titus). On my 4th visit to the office, fuming mad (pun intended), I marched down with my $350+ Marmot Down Sleeping Bag, and asked Titus to take a whiff. Not only did he inform me they are not responsible for odors, he made zero effort to apologize for the inconvenience or try to appease me with an offer to move me elsewhere. Instead, he said they were having difficulty dealing with the landscaper and they were trying to get him to move or evict him. Not my problem...and after 4 weeks of complaining, I would hope they would offer to relocate me and/or upgrade me to a larger unit. When I asked Titus for this, he said he could not do that, and offered to position a fan at the door to "air out" my unit. After giving my 15 day notice, I received a call from a manager, I think his name was Jim, who tried hard to keep my business, but too little too late. I found a larger storage unit at Storage West in Cardiff that was considerably less per square foot than all the options Jim threw at me. read more

You just keep sucking it up, because it is a pain in the ass to move all that crap you really don't need! I had a 7X10 on the second floor! We recently rented a 10x10 locker from Price Solana Beach, CA. Great experience! Austin was a great help as he gave us a tour of the facility and was helpful and professional. The place was so clean, you could eat off the floor. They are very reasonably priced.(lowest in area).Manager Ashley also very helpful. They also provide a truck and driver to help if needed. The place seems great from the outside, but once you get involved with them the headaches quickly become apparent. This place is very strict with policy and are quick to fine heavily when you mess up. If you are on the property 1 minute later than expected you get fined $25 and $25 for every 15 minutes you are there. If you can live with the rules you are met with very rude employees that are indistinguishable from robots. They are clearly trained to respond with specific responses and rarely stray from them. In addition to this, the units get very hot despite what they try to tell you. I was told my records would be fine and when I went to pick them up they were completely melted. Also there is a fire sprinkler pipe running rather low through the unit which eliminates a sizable amount of area in the unit. I have used 3 storage companies in the area and this is the only one I had any trouble with. Oh and don't forget that this is one of the more expensive storage facilities in the area. They get 1 star for having a free moving truck you can use and easy access gates, but also because I can give 0 stars. read more

Management at Price consistently alters hours with little or minimal notice. Waisted an hour driving to put away holiday decorations today. Sign at key pad where regular users see postings says closed New Years Day. No notice of closing at 1 pm on the 31st. I get they may want to alter the 31st but post it with your other notification at the key pads not on the office door. Most renters do not go to the office on regular visits. Ran into this when they did floor maintenance. Shared this same input with local manager then, he did not care. Owners should be ashamed of how this facility is managed. read more

Public Storage was dirty and I had a friend that worked at All Storage in Encinitas and they said a customer died and the managers that live on the property took the dead persons stuff and gave it to their kids. I should clarify that the storage facility doesn't call it insurance but rather a protection plan they even give you a rider to the protection plan explaining what they do and don't cover BUT ITS NOT INSURANCE. They recommend that you obtain your own insurance instead. What they DONT allow is for you to opt out of the protection plan- much like you can when you rent a car. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE the cost of the protection is and must be part of the monthly fee. Regardless of what they call it- they collect a monthly fee for it and it provides"NO PROTECTION" to you as a renter. There are other storage facilities on this street walk across the street and DONT RENT HERE. read more

i have rented a space from Price self storage for 3 plus years. It is clean and well maintained. My Only complaint and it is a big one: the price have increased a least 8% every 6 months with no advance notice. after i complained they decreased it by 7% for 6 months and nope just got a bill with an 8% increase again. great for SHORT term use. read more

Very professional. My 1+ year of storing all my furniture here was easy as pie. It was month-to-month but there wasn't any price increase. They always called too to remind you that rent was due if there was a problem with auto-pay so that you didn't incur any late charges. And they were helpful at checkout by recommending Father Joe's to donate to. read more

My first attempt at a review was filtered. Not sure why. I will try to post it again. I have been using this facility for a number of years. I have had several problems that were never addressed. The final straw was a huge jump in my rent. My unit was flooded by rain last year and even with onsite people - they weren't going to look at it for 2 days. They weren't even going to call the other tenants that were effected. They may or may not post a sign telling you that they will be closing early the day before a holiday. They are also closed on all holidays. I have also experienced the gates open at random times. I have moved to another storage place and won't be back. read more

Should be called BAIT & SWITCH STORAGE. Stay away ! I started to pay 225.00 and they raised the rent almost 50.00 every 6 months until it was almost 400.00. So when I moved out after being there for 5 years I wanted to leave a chair that I would pick up in the morning and they said they would charge me for 1 more day. I rented a 10x30 unit. The unit was clean, and in fact the whole place is very neat and clean. That's the reason for the 2nd star. Other than that, there's a bunch of other storage units within spitting distance which are just as clean, and they ALL have better policies. #1 issue. Hours are ridiculous. 7 AM - 7 PM (closed major holidays) Seriously? I can't access my stuff 50%+ of the time? Other storage places are either open 24 hrs, or 6 AM - 9 PM #2 issue. Rigid and overly unfriendly policies. They basically will make it completely inconvenient for you to pay them. They make it difficult and expensive to leave them. They have a policy for anything and everything and it'll never be to your benefit. They have a fee for everything and there is NO sympathy to real life issues. #3 issue. Communication. If you don't live here and aren't able to go in and speak to somebody in person, then forget about it. They'll hang up on you, they'll put you in voice main hell (forget about a call back), and at the end of the day, they want everything physically handled. Online? nope! Over the phone? nope! Please come in and sign this paper....or, sometimes they'll take faxes (if you promise to send them in the mail the original). Ugh! At the end of the day, just go across the street or around the corner, you'll be happy you did. read more

Oh man where do I start. These people charge you for every little thing! If you stay even one minute over the time limit- you have to pay a fine. The troll-like women at the front office were unprecedentedly rude and unwilling to deviate from some useless script they were forced to memorize. I moved to another storage facility in Poway and am now paying literally less than half for the same amount of space - and the new units are air conditioned! Fraud Mis-Representation and Deceptive Trade Practices, is the most accurate description, I can give of my experience, with Dan and Ryan at PSS. I had a bad experience and had given notice that I intended to move out Dan said that I could be made whole on the charges they had aseSsed if I just moved to another unit. I did gave the prescribed 30 day notice and vacated. all because they entered the wrong account # when they tried to auto debit. I agreed spent the day moving to another unit in the facility and was promised the first month free as consideration for the lousy deal I received. Dan forgot to tell Ryan I spent all the time and money moving and then was charged as if I transferred, and never received the free month. Dan then said sorry nothing I can do. I now have to move again and sue them in Small claims if I want any justice. RENTER BEWARE DAN IS A LIAR AND HIS CO-HART RYAN IS INCOMPETENT read more

This organization is supremely well-maintained. I had just removed my belongings from Public Storage because their units have problems with leaks. Great how things can work out better with change. The facility is very clean. The floors even shine! Fresh smell sealed the deal for me. Why store your items if they are not kept safely and in a clean facility. The Manager was very professional and I can tell takes great pride in the services that she provides. On my way to unload my belongings and the maintenance manager was on his cart and was friendly and helpful in reminding me of where to find my new unit. read more

Don't rent here unless you plan on it being a very short term rental. Rates increase every 6 months and if - heaven forbid - you have your stuff there for years you are paying double or triple what others are paying for the same size unit. Super clean, yes. Inconvenient, hard-to-park, un-level ground, also yes. Started paying around $73 per month (plus some sort of insurance fee that brought my monthly payment up to $80). Their price increases ticktock like clockwork. I just went from $91 to $97 from February to March. Price Self Storage says they will match the pricing of other storage units in the area, but there are other cheaper storage units in the area with identical parameters and accommodations to what I am renting with Price Self Storage, yet my monthly payment keeps increasing higher than all other storage unit facilities in the area. They called me en route and set up my account over the phone and held the place open so I could unload. They were professional, courteous, understanding and helpful.
