Terrance came over to inspect our multi-unit building and said that he could not recommend full building fumigation b/c it abuts other buildings on the block....reasonable observation. Spot treatment would require a lot of work like pulling back carpet, looking at the subfloor, etc. so he highly recommended heat treatment, which he does not do. However, when his official report came back, he did not include any diagrams of where he saw the termites and his recommendation did not mention any of the above even though he documented that in an email to me. It appears to me that the boilerplate form language did not provide from this content. Regardless, the report is very inaccurate because the recommendation is not what he says in his email to me. For the amount of money we paid him for the 10 minute inspection, I would have expected a lot of better. I cannot recommend him for this reason. The area in question at our place was for the most part inaccessible, because it was obstructed by our built-in kitchen cabinets. He discussed a few options with us, which included working with other companies that can do heat treatments (since heat treatments are outside of his services but would probably make more sense than fumigation given the limited scope) or having someone remove the cabinets so he can return to review further. He also looked at another part of our house which turned out to be just dry rot. He didn't pressure us into buying anything, and he didn't charge for the visit. On the hottest day of the summer, I saw little ant-fly like insects on the exterior of one of my home's windows. After some googling, I was able to figure out that they were drywood termites. A few weeks went by and I finally got around to looking for a termite company to do an inspection. Priceless Termite Control had the best reviews, so I figured I'd give them a shot. I was a little overwhelmed with the task of dealing with termites in my ground floor bathroom. We have subterranean termites and so treatment means having to drill holes into the ground under the slab. We have radiant heating in the bathroom, and as well as problems with where the thicker footings for the sheer wall was, where we needed to drill. There was a lot of factors to consider when planning this, including taking up all the tile work, which I had to hire contractors to do. Terrence was reliable, kind, knowledgeable, professional, patient, and made me feel comfortable as we both worked to work out these problems together. He asked about things that I and the contractors didn't think about. He really rolled with the punches. I originally got a him to come out to assess and then he even came back to make sure that we were clear on the plan once we demolished the bathroom so we could see a bit better what we were dealing with. I honestly asked a lot of him and he went above and beyond for this project. I was working on time and materials with my contractors so it was harder for me to schedule time farther ahead, when I requested a new quote on a Friday afternoon, he was on top of it and sent it to me by the end of the day. When I asked him to come in the next week he was on it and got me into the schedule. He and I looked over old building plans to try to find the best way to take care of this problem so I wouldn't have to do this again. We were not even one year out from a facade remodel that included treatment for termites when we discovered frass scattered about the floor - a sure sign of a termite infestation. We also found a couple of live critters crawling around the floor, ewww! After researching our options and meeting with a few service providers, we decided to go with Priceless Termite Control's solution because it seemed to be the least disruptive and most targeted of our choices (we had also considered heat treatment and fogging).
