The indian food was great, especially for the location. The veggie samosas were really excellent, and the sauces, if not spectacular, were decent. I had the karahi lamb. The lamb was tasty and very tender, and the dish true to style - big win. Rice was good but cool versus hot in arrival. I was super excited to try this food, I love Indian food and Prime bar & Grill has amazing reviews. However, I'm just not sure why this place has 4.9 stars. I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants & this was my second to worst I've had. The food was okay. Mediocre at best, but my garlic cheese naan was completely burnt. (no exaggeration) the butter chicken was okay but lacking flavor. I was dissapointed. I expected it to be a bit pricey & was okay with that, as long as the food lived up to expectations! Unfortunately it didn't. I've had better Indian food from a food truck in ridgecrest, California. Which says a lot. read more

What a find!! Definitely in my top 3 of favorite Indian food spots. I had the Achari Chicken with naan and basmati rice. My girlfriend had the Saag Paneer. So much flavor and spices. As an added bonus you can customize the spice level of any dish. If your passing through Tehachapi, do your tastebuds a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. I hardly ever rate or post reviews of restaurants but I felt this place deserves all the support I can give. Also, I really want it to succeed so I can visit again someday. Love this place! Been there twice now and both times it's been incredibly good. Got to sit next to the fire this time, definitely a plus on a cold January night. We ordered the Aloo Tikki (little potato pancakes) with the tasty sauces for appetizer, then the Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken Curry, and Vegetable Biryani. This was more than plenty for 3. Mango and pistachio ice creams for dessert! Everything was superb. All the sauces are interesting and so tasty. Tehachapi is definitely lucky to have a five star Indian restaurant. Decided to stop here on the way home from Kern. It smells amazing the minute you walk in. It's a cozy and comfortable environment that is super clean. Everything we ordered was amazing... definitely the best Indian food in the area. Our server Victor was awesome and gave us great advice on new things to try. This is one of the places we always recommend to friends and family. It is an unexpected find out here in Kern County, but it NEVER disappoints. I think I've had a different dish every time, and I can't choose a favorite (although it could have been the Tikka Masala with Salmon....). Perfect halfway point between Inyokern and Bakersfield so we were able to meet halfway to have lunch together. The inside is gorgeous. It would be a great place for a date. The service was awesome. Our server was on top of it. We were the only ones there at that time of day. But he seemed very attentive and helpful. Every single dish we ordered was amazing. Just ate here and writing this review right away. Really classy and new restaurant! Nice decor, cute patio dining and very spacious inside. Staff was super nice and service was fast. I was a little skeptical if this place will do it for us, but it did and surprisingly so. The food here will certainly please both the western and Indian palate. While there is certainly room for more spice, the food was very flavorful and not bland as I had thought it may be. The prime mixed grill was sizzling hot and very tasty. Well marinated and delicious fish and shrimp in it. The lamb and chicken were delicious, would have loved it spicier though. The goan fish curry (coconut based curry with salmon) was a little sweet for my taste but still very good. Dal tadka with yellow dal was really good, toor dal would be a better choice though instead of chana dal. Tandoori Roti was some of the best I have had in a while. Crispy, fresh, hot, buttered roti ... yum yum ! They also made a plain salty lassi for me upon request although not on the menu and it was nice foamy with some salt, cumin and mint. A little disappointing was the mango ice cream, it wasn't very smooth and had ice crystals in it. And while a drizzle of chocolate syrup made it look pretty, chocolate really does not go very well with mango. Overall, we were very pleased and will return. read more

This is THE best restaurant in Tehachapi! WOW!!!! SO good!!! If you're not familiar with Indian food, you'll be fine - give it a try! It's flavorful and has tender meats. Yummy! The basmati rice is divine - it smells so nice, has a great mouthfeel, and tastes wonderful. I love their chicken (#39) or lamb (#52a) curry. The goat curry (#55) is very good too, but it has bones in it which I'm not a fan of working around. The Goa Fish Curry (#60) is very creamy and mild in flavor. I also love their Onion Pakora (#6) and Vegetable Pakora (#2) - they are tender & crispy fritters with magically yummy dipping sauces! My family likes their Naan (#15). We've not had anything here we didn't like! While I do enjoy spicey food, I think Indian food already has enough flavor so I order mine "Mild" and am very happy with it. Some in my family love spicey foods, so they go for "Medium" spiciness and are very happy. The wait-staff will help you navigate that if you like. If you have food sensitivities/allergies/preferences, they are knowledgeable about their menu and how to help you find something safe for you to eat. Being gluten & dairy-free myself, I appreciate that there are plenty of options. I think Indian restaurants are also knowledgeable about providing safe food for vegans and vegetarians. So there really is something for everyone. Their employees are very friendly. Cutsomer service is great! The interior is clean, bright, & open - like a breath of fresh air. Food was excellent! We were visiting friends in the area who live there and we were so happy to find this hidden gem. The only reason I took off one star was because service was bad. Our server was very stoic, and seemed to be in a hurry for us to give her our order. She never smiled or asked if we needed anything as soon as she brought the food to the table and the restaurant was not even crowded. All the curries in the pot came without a serving spoon and when asked for one, she told us to use the spoon from the rice plate for the various curries we ordered which was of a different base. I didn't respond to that. Then after a few mins, I asked again for a spoon for the yogurt raita and she brought it begrudgingly. All in all, if you're going there expecting good service forget about it, but the awesome food makes up for the lack of it. read more

This is when we met an attentive, ridiculously qualified, friendly man named, Harish. Tehachapi is very fortunate for having Harish who makes amazing drinks and no doubt makes great food with amazing service. Then we were met by beautiful, Sabrina who also exuded the incredibly, positive experience Harish extended to us. Both of them just make you feel welcome and good. Across the street from Wendy's Will definitely recommend to everyone and be a return customer! Problem is, living in Hawaii makes it difficult.
