What an attractive restaurant, it just felt good to be there. Started with the brucshetta which had a delicious balsamic glaze that we all liked. I had one of the evening specials, a petite filet with lake perch, mashed garlic potatoes and asparagus. Steak was on point, so well seasoned and cooked exactly medium. I'm a lake perch fan and this was delicately yummy. So much food, definite take away container. My friends had steaks, everyone was really satisfied. So we had a reservation at prime for NYE . We waited over two hours to be seated and actually celebrated the new year as we were being served dinner. This was not at all what we had in mind. As far as the food was concerned, they were out of filet mignon and mashed potatoes by the time we sat down....ummm you're a steak house for goodness sakes! So clearly the staff was stressed and I absolutely do not blame them. The only reason I'm even giving Prime two stars, was because of them. I absolutely blame the manager and whomever the owners are. A brief synopsis of our recent visit: 1) Even with a 9:00 reservation we didn't get seated until 10:30. It probably would have been later but our constant inquiries got us seated at a makeshift table located on a stage, usually used for the entertainment. 2) The food was cold. After waiting so long only one of us sent the plate back to be heated, the rest just picked at a couple bites and left hungry. Even if the food was hot we would have still left hungry because the portion sizes were so small. The meals were at minimum $30.00 a plate, and all we got were 3 stalks of asparagus and 3 small potato wedges. 3) We all ordered baked potatoes or mashed potatoes but we were served a wedge potato after being told they were out of the others. Twenty minutes later we saw another large party being served all with baked potatoes. It was a nice atmosphere, but way too unorganized in the way everything was run. We will not go back. read more

Went to Prime Steakhouse for dinner with my wife. If you go, please be aware that it is rather expensive. Expect to pay $30 a plate. The food is good and the staff are friendly. To start off, we visited here on a whim, being that the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed on a Monday night. The restaurant is very nice in side and cozy, if not a little cramped. It wasn't busy, so more cozy. Looking at the menu, I could see that it was going to be a bill by the end of the night. We started off with a shrimp cocktail. My wife had a split of sparkling wine and I had water. My wife wanted the king crab legs but was hesitant because it was priced at "market price". I told her to go ahead and order it so she did and I ordered the filet mignon, medium with potatoes and asparagus. They brought out bread and a nice herbed butter. The shrimp cocktail came out and was very eye pleasing and had very large, firm shrimp. The cocktail sauce was a bit too much tomato, and not enough horseradish, but they were happy to bring a side of it out. Delicious. The dinner came out fairly fast, about average. My steak was cooked almost perfect. It had a nice crust on the outside, but the crust wasn't evenly distributed. Unfortunately, I started on the good side and ended with the un-crusted side. Kind of like starting with a nice tasty microbrew and ending with a Coors light. Why?? Anyways, it was still very tasty. The potatoes were nice along with the asparagus. My wife's plate was filled with crab. At least one and a half pounds, split lengthwise down the legs so she could easily pick out the meat. Plenty of butter and lemon. The crab was fantastic, not overcooked, nice and hot. We both shared our plates, which we normally do, and still couldn't finish it all. We skipped dessert, but I saw a chocolate cake on its way to another customer and it looked fantastic. Well worth the money. Oh, the best part. The bill. Well, I knew my steak was $30, and was waiting for the price of the crab. $69.95. WHAT!! holy cow. Wife will be cooking at home for the next month. That was Christmas, birthday, valentines day, all wrapped into one warm crab meat blanket. So there you go. Great place, great food, friendly staff, but ask about prices before you purchase. read more

I frequented this restaurant when it was Amore and was excited to try it now that it's Prime. Wow, big mistake! The only good part of the meal was the bread. The Ceasar salad had no taste and the dressing itself tasted like straight mayonnaise. The egg on the side had obviously been sitting out. The Bruschetta wasn't much better as the bread was soggy. The drinks were terrible. I ordered a margarita on the rocks and it tasted like all tequila. I was dining with a group of friends and their meals weren't good either. Two friends ordered the spaghetti and said it tasted like Ragu and one friend had a steak and said it was fatty. Would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. This place is horrible. We went to celebrate our anniversary and our bill came to $120. My husband said it was the worse steak he ever had and my salmon had some thick gross white sauce on it. Let me start by saying this is a great restaurant. We had a wonderful experience and it is comparable in food and service to any fine dining restaurants in Chicago. We usually go to Chicago for special dinners, but because of our current environment, we decided to try a local restaurant instead of just staying home for our 10 year anniversary. The reservation process was easy. We were greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner. The menu offered sufficient choices for a steak restaurant. The server, Tiffany, did a wonderful job and provided a great service. She was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was great. My husband's filet steak was tender and flavorful. It was cooked to the requested temperature. My salmon special (stuffed with veggies) was cooked perfectly. It was flaky and fresh. The decor was less than magnificent, but it was tasteful and comfortable. They followed good spacing for COVID19 and we felt safe and comfortable. The manager visited the table and another server helped our server without asking. I saw great teamwork. Overall, it was a great experience. The prices are reasonable, especially since you get 2 sides and a salad with the entrees. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will return. read more

Disappointing to say the least. I spent $165 for two people (including 2 drinks a bottle of wine and the tip) and for that kind of money in Indiana I really expect something exceptional. I expect to be wowed. I was not wowed. I had the Grouper special. I should have known better to get seafood away from the Atlantic but I didn't feel like steak. which, it seems from reading other reviews is their forte. The baked potato had been in the oven all day, hard and burnt yet lukewarm temperature. The asparagus was large, stringy and tasteless. My salad was a mundane .... okay. The shrimp cocktail had rubbery shrimp (5 pieces? why not 6 so they could be split evenly), the cocktail sauce was supposed to be homemade with horseradish but it obviously came out of a jar and had hardly any horseradish. The Shrimp DeJonge (sp?) at least wasn't overcooked but should have been swimming in butter but it was dry. The wine and the chocolate cake at the end, however was fabulous and our waitress was very attentive but not obnoxious and held off with the check until exactly the right moment. (Thus the two stars) It's a shame the chef or owner is so preoccupied they can't oversee the quality of their product. I've already told people to save their hard earned cash try someplace else. Ordered the bone in Ribeye which I had about two years ago. This time I got something that didn't even come close to a ribeye. Don't know what kind of steak it was but it had no ribeye marbling, it was tough and had gristle in part of it. Instead of a $36 steak I would say I got a $12 piece of meat. read more

We stopped in on a Monday night. Our family was in town and we wanted to take them to the Lighthouse in Cedar Lake but they are closed on Mondays. We thought about the nice place in the Square. Amore was no more. We went in anyways. Who doesn't like a great prime steak?!? We were greeted right anyway. Our server Nicole was also the bartender and she rocks! The cocktails were fantastic.The shrimp cocktail was fabulous. I wish they made a homemade cocktail sauce. One of our salad plates had large chips. Not appetizing. The tomatoes on the salad were old. All of you meals were fantastic. Do not order cappuccino!! It is made from a machine you see at a gas station. We had a good laugh over it. I will go back. It's a small restaurant with a Chicago style atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed but got seated in about 30 minutes. The prices are a bit high for this area. For example, I ordered a Blue Moon bottle and it was $6. Martinis are apparently their specialty but we were not told that. Those were around $11. The food was EXCELLENT however, and we will probably go back every couple years. If they would make their drinks comparable to the many bars around them they would get a ton of business because the food is amazing. The entries steak slightly over done when ordered rare the fish breading heavy for stated "lightly breaded and pan fried" on the menu. First time since under new name... First visit. It was a nice experience to start. Pleasant server, nice atmosphere, great music...we were optimistic. We ordered oysters Rockefeller, and they were fantastic. The soup was made in-house and was delicious. The bread, salad: all top shelf. Then our entrees came, and things went off the rails. My ribeye, which I ordered medium, was charitably med well and woefully unseasoned. My wife's scallops were off. And I don't mean they were just under-cooked or over seasoned...they reeked of ammonia, the tell-tale sign of turned shellfish. They were bad enough that we sent them back, which is something I dread doing when I eat someplace. I can count on one hand the number of times I've done it. It makes me profoundly uncomfortable. To their credit, they dutifully took the scallops off of our bill and offered another dish, but we were already pretty full of bread and salad and shared over-cooked steak. The server and owner (?) were apologetic and certainly tried to make it right...but I'm not kidding - those scallops should have never left the kitchen. Someone could get very, very ill. And a medium steak should be a cakewalk for an experienced chef. That's forgivable at a "lesser" establishment, I suppose, but a $40 steak probably should be done properly without the need for a refire. The failing in this situation was entirely back of the house, and will inform our decision to return. read more

So, we show up feeling very happy that a place had room. Unfortunately for us, it was really busy and we standed around forever. It is a very narrow/small dining area. Fortunately, the food was good enough to allow me to give 3 stars. Had the service and communication been better, this is a 4 star place for sure. OMG... I have never had such a tender piece of steak. After getting Martinis and crab cake appetizers our entree arrived. Our waiter had perfect timing throughout our meal. He was friendly, polite and discreet. Never interrupted our conversation, made excellent recommendations and saw to our every need. He answered questions about the history of the restaurant and building as well which is Located in Downtown Crown Point right on the square. They do offer valet parking but you can also find ample parking on your own. Upstairs there is a sushi bar if that is more to your liking. They do have outdoor seating as well. The decor is a mix of old and new, clean and inviting. The food was out of this world. Pricey but worth every penny. Perfect for special occasions, date nights and when you deserve to be treated like you are special. We felt special and catered to. I very highly recommend the filet, aspargus and baked potatoe. Prime is our favorite steakhouse period. They make you feel like family as soon as you walk in the door. Their steaks are ALWAYS perfectly prepared. Kelly is the perfect server. She remembers the way we like our salads, our favorite wine is chilled and waiting for us when we arrive and she is surprised when anyone changes our entree order.
