Shrimp Tacos $2.99 ($.69 on Tuesday's!) Side of Rice and Coca-Cola - this entire meal for two was approximately $20.
Sherri P.

Updating my review because today was a very different experience. The shrimp had a distinctly soapy taste, and the cabbage in my meal had multiple blackened/spoiled pieces that I had to pick through and remove myself. I also noticed the red salsa tasted different than before, and when I asked, I was told nothing had changed. OK... I've been here an embarrassingly amount of times to know the sauce intimately. The new sauce had a completely different texture and taste just not the same as before. As far as the overall experience, maybe this was just an off day, but the food quality was noticeably not what we'd experienced in the past, which was disappointing.

We picked up a to go order from this location, since we were staying close by. We did go on a non-barbecue, non-taco day, so I wonder if that affected the food quality. Barbecue is only available on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at all Primo Foods locations. DH wanted to try an assortment of street tacos. They messed up the order and gave him five Asada tacos. Which may have been all for the best since those were the best ones. The meat was salty and there were some gristly bits. The shrimp taco was very mushy. DH said, "oh man, that texture was so weird." The fish taco was not breaded and a bit tough/fishy. Seafood tacos don't seem to be their strength. The Carnitas taco was okay, pretty basic. Pollo taco was fine. The seasoning has a little extra flavor, maybe from achiote? I'm not a huge fan of it. Al pastor was seasoned like the pollo one. DH thought the other tacos were okay, not bad, not great. The California Burrito had Asada, cheese, and fries. This item was recommended by the workers as their most popular item. It's pretty salty and doesn't fit with our personal preferences for burritos. We probably wouldn't order this one again. We got a bag of their chips, which were crunchy and delicious. Very classic. Fire roasted salsa was excellent. This one had a medium level of heat and a nice smoky flavor. We bought a small tub of this that lasted a few days. We really enjoyed it blended with the guacamole. Guacamole was really good too, and we got a large tub of this. They gave us small packages of the orange and green salsa, which were both extremely spicy. DH said the employees were nice. Street parking was easier at this location. Parking spaces in the lot are bigger. Overall, we decided to try a different Primo Foods location and it did seem better. We also went on a barbecue day. Also of note: this location is a little bit more expensive than the other ones.

Taco Tuesday! Current menu price Tues and Fri $0.69 for pollo, asada, pastor street tacos, and $1.99 for fish and shrimp. The line at lunch time was not too long, and after ten minutes or so we got to order. Ordering is delayed because the cashier is also putting together orders and calling numbers for folks to pick up their food in between ringing your order and the next one. But the food comes up pretty quickly and we got to share a table with some lovely college students. We ordered six chicken, six beef, one fish and one shrimp. Fourteen street tacos for $11.89. I don't know how they turn out this quality at these prices, but they do! Tacos have plenty of meat and two tortillas. Husband and I could not eat more than four, so we took a bunch home! Three and a half meals for $12. Dressed only with cilantro and onions, the asada and pollo tacos were flavorful. I did find a gristle in my first bite of the chicken taco. But none further. The steak was tasty and no gristle. The shrimp taco was larger and dressed fancier and had pico on top . Shrimp had been stewed in broth long enough to have a dry firm texture, very different than expected. Fish taco was traditional fried with cabbage. Pretty big piece of fish. Great value! While I was waiting for our order, I made a quick pass through the market to see what they offer. Surprising variety for a neighborhood store. Bought bananas and pondered the chicken wings $10 for 10 special at the grill in the front. They also have tacos, more limited variety and not on a special but no line!

Went camping down the street and walked to Primos to pick up provisions. We wanted to carne asada to bbq and make tacos. There is a walk up window outside to order food. There is also a kind of cart set up with all kinds of bbq'd food, elotes and other stuff. When we walked in there was a lady making ceviche and she was handing out samples. It was fresh and delicious and the house made chips are perfect. We picked up a few pounds of marinated carne asada from the meat counter in back. They have a variety of salsas and delicious guacamole. We bought flour and carne asada tortillas. The selection is amazing. They have cold drinks, sodas on ice and alcoholic beverages. We also picked up premade house and beans. Everything came together for a delicious camp dinner. I only took a picture of our afternoon snack, delicious!

First and foremost, I want to express my disappointment with the food presentation and temperature. When I received my order, I was immediately struck by the unappetizing appearance of the carne asada fries. Upon touching the to go box, I was shocked to find that the fries were cold. I decided to take a bite, only to be met with a completely washed out flavor. To make matters worse, I noticed that there was something underneath the second piece of carne and two fries. It was aluminum foil! I was so disgusted that I wanted to return the food, but I was already home. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment.

I stumbled across this spot accidentally while driving in Oceanside this weekend. My boyfriend saw the taco sign and wanted to try them so we stopped by and we were both very impressed. The first thing you see is the BBQ out front. They have aguas too which were very good. They were all so friendly and gave samples freely. Inside they gave samples of ceviche and aguachiles which were very tasty. We tried carnitas and carne asada tacos $1.69 each (a dollar off on Tuesdays). They were the absolute best I have had. Juicy and flavorful carnitas and delicious salsa! We then got a watermelon agua which did not disappoint. We were offered samples of the BBQ and wow! The short rib just melted in my mouth. We came back and got a beef rib which also was so yummy and tender that I definitely need to come back. Thanks Primos!

Best local taco spot around! One of two locations located on South O, this spot is always bumping! The lines move pretty quickly and there is plenty of benches to sit on outside while you wait. Taco Tuesday is $0.69 carne asada tacos, but reasonably priced every day! Burritos and lunch plates are delicious! I always go in and grab a tub or two of their guacamole and salsa! They are delicious! The convenience store portion is stocked with plenty or guacamole, salsa, beans, rice, tortilla chips, tortillas, drinks and tons more! The store is clean and organized well too Seasonally they sell tamales and they also do catering for a very reasonable price! Primos has it all and you won't be disappointed!

Taco Tuesday, nailed it! $.69 tacos on Tuesdays and Fridays are the highly anticipated event of the week in the local area. I spent 15 minutes, just trying to find parking in the area of the establishment due to the number of people who were there for the amazing, delicious, and reasonably priced tacos . This is definitely a staple of the neighborhood. Lotta people, lotta conversation, not just happiness, joy laughter. It was a good atmosphere good feeling and good great. Recommend if you're in the local area definitely stop by anytime not just on Tuesdays and Fridays .

Ask the Community - Primo Foods

I know this is odd to ask when their specialty is meat, but what's in the veggie burrito?

Not odd at all, it is the only thing I get on the menu since I don't eat meat -- it basically has all the veggies you typically get with fajitas - bell peppers, onions, looks like some squash maybe.

Hi yelpers! Anyone know if there are gluten free options here?

I asked and they said no

If you haven't tried the Caribbean Bean Salad yet, start there. It's so good. I usually grab a bag of tortilla chips to go with it, but it's equally good with plantain chips. Their Kale & White Bean Salad is another favorite, and I haven't had a fresh juice there that I didn't enjoy. Surprisingly, their matcha is pretty solid too. The store has a great selection overall and feels like the closest thing Oceanside has to a Whole Foods. I find myself stopping in at least once a week for meal prep ingredients, snacks, or something from the deli case. The reason I'm landing at 4 stars instead of 5 is mostly the location. There's almost always something interesting happening outside, and it's not uncommon to see police activity nearby. Also, if you order a fresh juice or hot drink, don't expect it to come out lightning fast. They definitely take their time. That said, those are pretty minor complaints. The quality of the food, produce, and prepared items keeps me coming back. All in all, it's a great neighborhood market with plenty of healthy options and some hidden gems if you're willing to explore a little.

I like their deli selection as it's a higher quality than Albertsons, but I like Albertsons deli items (hot and cold) more. Ralphs has better cheeses. Seafood is standard quality, though more limited. Same with their butcher offerings. I often have to custom order oxtails, picana cuts as they don't stock as much as you'd expect. Large ice cream and chips selection, small pickle selection. Some items are sort of illogically placed. We sat outside, soaking up the sunshine with boats cruising by -- hard to beat that Oceanside vibe. Food I ordered the coconut shrimp, which were crispy, golden, and lightly sweet, paired with a tangy dipping sauce that balanced everything nicely. The plate came with French fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies, and honestly, the sides were a pleasant surprise. The fries were hot and crunchy -- classic and satisfying. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy, not overly sweet, and worked well as a contrast to the fried seafood. The hush puppies were warm, slightly crisp on the outside, and soft inside -- easy to snack on while enjoying the view. Portions were generous and perfect for a relaxed midday meal. Service & Atmosphere Service was friendly and laid-back, matching the beachy atmosphere. Joe's is clearly about casual fun rather than fine dining, and it delivers on that front with a lively, family-friendly feel. It is comparable to Jimbo's, Lazy Acres, etc. but the produce and deli departments fall short of this greatness by a lot. The sandwhiches from the deli have been wildly inconsistent in my experience; from the price to the portions and overall quality. I am ordering the same sandwhich every time, mind you so it should be the same. One time they forgot to put the meat I circled in it. Sometimes the sandwhich is tiny and feels like a kid's portion. Other times it is a nice portion that's loaded but I would say that is rare. The staff is where things start to degrade as they could use more training in general. Cashiers could be friendlier, deli people need to learn how to read. The store feels a bit cramped and it always seems very busy which I don't like.. I would say this store is a cross between Jimbo's and Major Market or something. There is no self checkout so I have to deduct points there. They do have an express lane at least. Here's another thing I have to deduct points for: they let people solicit right outside the door and they are always there, sometimes even 2 different solicitors. Trader Joes respectably does not allow solicitors in comparison. The prices are decent and certainly better than Sprouts for the most part, but who isn't? About ordering groceries online: They are not on Instacart! They do, however let you order groceries from their website but I am unsure how good it is, haven't tried it. I thought about ordering online and having grocery's delivered and you do get $10 off your first 3 orders if you do this, but I found out I'm just outside the free delivery range by less than a mile and so there is a $10 fee which is pretty ridiculous. There are some hidden fees as well as I ended up buying everything that was in my online cart in person and it was significantly less. To summarize: Pros: - Above average selection of organic and "natural" foods - Prices are better than comparable stores for the most part - Decent alcohol selection (but no hard liquor) Cons: - Solicitors always outside the door - Inconsistent sandwhich quality, portions and price - Store isn't on Instacart - Staff could be better Overall cannot recommend Frazier Farms for reasons I described.
