We opted to sit outdoors but had to wipe down our seats and table from the recent rain. I wish they had outdoor heaters because it was chilly in the shade. Order at the counter then take your number to your table of choice. Food comes out pretty quick. The fish was delicious, with great light and crispy batter, not too greasy. The tableside malt vinegar really enhanced the flavor. The tacos were a good size and had a solid serving of fish, but I felt they were a bit lacking in sauce. The crispy potato straws on top provided a nice extra crunch. A rush of people arrived shortly after we did, so our table service became a bit spotty. Scoped this place out for my trip to Seattle and visiting Bainbridge Island. I planned on eating at multiple places and had already seen how big the portions were. Upon getting to the establishment I tried to order the kids meal since it was a smaller portion, but was told I couldn't. The adult portion is definitely shareable, I continued with my order adding a modelo to wash it down. I found seating outside but then a little drizzle began, so I went inside. Great food and service! We came on a Monday for lunch so thankfully it wasn't too crowded, but there were plenty of other people there. My sister and I shared one order of the British fish and chips and it was the perfect lunch portion for us, especially since we were just visiting for the weekend and wanted to try other places in Seattle. Came here after seeing a post on TikTok. Here, you will need to stand on line to place and pay your order before you get a number to place on your table you need to find yourself. You can grab your own utensils and water inside the shop. We ordered a fish and chips and fish tacos to share between 2 people. This is definitely a good portion for two to share. The fish tacos were good but a bit bland. The fish and chips were mediocre. British Fish & Chips: The fish was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. We got a good portion of fish. The breading was not too thick on the fish. However, the chips (fries) were just okay. You start by ordering at the counter, and then it's up to you to find a table. After you order, they give you a table stand with your order number. When your food is ready, a server will search the restaurant, calling your number until they find you. There is both indoor and outdoors seating, and all of it was full when we ordered. There's lots of outdoor seating! The service was nothing special, they weren't rude nor friendly. Just causal, normal "what would you like" and "would you like a receipt?" The wait for our food wasn't too bad, around 7 to 10 minutes. The portion size is HUGE!! I couldn't believe it! The fish was as long as my forearm. We got three of the Fish and Chips. Only one of us could finish the box. Everything was fresh, hot, and crispy! There was not enough tartar sauce for all of the food in my opinion. I was excited to try Proper Fish based on all the positive reviews, so we drove over to Bainbridge Island from Sequim last week. I'm a Brit and was really looking forward to some authentic "fish and chips". The fish was excellent and huge, but the chips weren't crisp or salty......I was so disappointed. Amazing fish and chips! Just a ferry ride away from Seattle is this cute fish and chips spot on Bainbridge Island, the birthplace of pickleball. Reading the other reviews of this place, they are pretty spot on, so I'll take up some Yelp review real estate to list things I learned from eating here that may be helpful to potential customers. Proper is a decent walk from the ferry terminal but totally worth it. You must get the fish and chips, but warning: it was WAY too much food for us. For context, we are a family of 4, and we ordered onion rings, fried oysters, and 2 orders of fish and chips. We could only eat about half and ended up taking the rest home. All we ate was delicious! The fish, in particularly, is ridiculously long (in length). Other than the food coming to your table, everything is self serve like finding a table, getting your own water, silverware, napkins, etc. The food is generally expensive per entree, but again, portions are huge. There are lots of little shops along the way to the restaurant so enjoy the journey there and back. We spent about half a day on Bainbridge Island and it was quite enjoyable! read more

I ordered online and picked up from the restaurant, as I was with a group doing fun things in the area. Similar to other reviews, this place is packed - there's a reason. I got there and waited before asking about my order (before my time was up), and the hostess had to tell me that it would still be a little while. It's not like things were slow, though. The basket can feed 2 adults. We ordered more than we anticipated and portions are big. The kids loved it, and the lobster roll was delicious too.
