While not was I was expecting, it was fresh, warm, tasty, and great with the olive oil and pepper on the table. Tuna tartare: Not a great dish. The toasted bread was fine; however, the tuna did not taste fresh, it was extremely oily, the avocado puree added way too much fat, and there needed to be more acid. The tuna tartare is probably out of place on Setta Osteria's menu more broadly. Gnocchi: The gnocchi were very creamy, although a bit salty and gummy. Margherita: A solid pizza, with a good crust, tasty sauce, decent cheese, and good ratios Funghi: The crust was good, but the spinach was overcooked and wilted, and the mushrooms had minimal flavor. We shared the tiramisu for dessert, which was average at best. OMG we were so excited. The dining room is beautiful and sexy. The finishes are top notch with an art deco theme. Very clubby, very luxurious, almost speakeasy feeling. Kudos to the designer of this dining room because it is gorgeous. Likewise, the food. Riggsby knows food! My chopped salad was perfect in every respect. Each bite had a slightly different combo of ingredients. Everything was crispy and fresh. And the dressing added to the dish without overwhelming the greens. My main dish - Ned's Most Favorite Double Cut Chop - was so crazy good that I almost cried. The meat was juicy and so flavorful. The drippings were intense and I wanted a spoon to lap them up! The Riggsby knows how to cook pork chops. The serving size was so large that I shared it with my spouse (but every bite he put in his mouth tore my heart out because I wanted more)! My spouse had the trout appetizer and the tuna as a main course. Both were excellent! However, the amount of tuna seemed a little small for an entree (thus, I had to give him some of my beloved pork chop). For dessert, we shared the chocolate-peanut butter budino. The REAL weakest link at Riggsby - I am sad to say - is the service. The server was not professional and not so attentive. The food runners were likewise not up to standard. They should at least know what the food is on the plate. I mean, really, who confuses a pork chop with a chicken??? The managers - I counted 3 of them - seemed to be professional and good however. Maybe the service lacked some snap because the restaurant is pretty new - or maybe they need some additional training on the food. I am not sure. But here is what I know. When a restaurant serves food as good as what we had last night but with service that is barely acceptable, that will negatively affect its reputation and ultimate success. The bar is full of seating too, so you have to stand behind people who are already sat and drinking to try to flag them down which feels awkward. The drinks were good though and the atmosphere was decent.
