They also enlarged one of my return air vents to meet the higher airflow needs of the new HVAC system. The work required widening the opening in the ceiling and installing a new return grille. The crew handled it neatly and professionally. When they finished, it looked like new. The new system is working great, airflow is noticeably improved, and the entire project was completed fast and as promised. It's not often that a major home improvement project goes this smoothly. I would recommend So Cal Air to anyone looking for HVAC installation or replacement.

Long story semi-short, my AC of 26 years had been on its last legs since about 2017... I'd been postponing the inevitable with R-22 recharge + leak sealant, with service from a older fellow whom I'd had a great relationship with, for almost a decade. Between 2020 and 2025, all seemed "tolerable" with my old Payne/Carrier AC + furnace. But last fall, it was clear my system had given up the ghost... and unbeknownst to me, the fabulous older gentleman who'd been coming here off and on for years, retired and moved out of state. I needed some new AC geniuses! Let the research and bidding/quoting madness begin! * FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES ARE BEST! I know everyone says "go local," and avoid things (giant franchises, etc.) that rhyme with "Bosco," for such an install (as well as gear sharing the first name of a famous 1990s-era heavyweight boxer w/the last name of Lewis). I'll let you imagine how that "almost" experience went... The FAMILY-OWNED business that is GREEN PLANET not only saved me heaps, but educated me about what would truly be needed, to go the "heat pump" route (my initial intention). Given that I have ancient, single-pane windows, and am in a tricky financial spot (I can't really upgrade my insulation to seal up the home to make a heat pump be 100% effective, let alone, replace windows), I ended up going with a rock solid, super efficient, side discharge AC condenser (due to vertical clearance limitations) and a new furnace (more details below). Nice! * "OFFICE" ETTIQUETTE Anyone curious about GREEN PLANET's "office" coordination... I wrote to Jay through their website... he phoned within an hour... I explained as best I could (background / issues / wants), he made an appointment to come out on Tuesday... He was on time, inspected the premises and advised... and his entire crew was out here THE NEXT DAY, taking care of business. I've had no AC since last September. (Though I've survived in here for 4 years without it, ages ago.) And now I'm CHILLIN'!!!!! (For PARENTS: I also appreciate the fact that the crew were extra aware of their environment, given that my son was home from school, sick; they were always mindful of him, in their midst.) * SOME INSTALLATION SPECIFICS A 2-ton unit was installed, replacing/upgrading from basically what I had... and my existing ducting is still rock solid, which also saved me some cash (by not needing new ducting). A wiring upgrade to accommodate the newer, more powerful/efficient unit... and DONE deal! * THANK YOU! Giant high five to Jay, Nola, the install leader Andre, and GREEN PLANET's fabulous crew! The paper was probably there since the evaporator was installed by another company five years ago. Our front bathtub began backing up on Saturday, August 1, and my usual attempts to clear the…read moreblockage weren't working. I requested estimates from several plumbers, and A-Team Plumbing Services stood out by offering to clear the blockage for a flat $49. Thinking this would be a relatively simple drain-clearing job, I scheduled them to come out that morning. Giulio arrived right on time and attempted to snake the tub drain, but unfortunately the blockage wouldn't clear. He then asked whether we had a cleanout somewhere on the property. We weren't aware of one, so he went underneath the house to investigate the plumbing. What he found was quite a bit more complicated than a simple clog. There was a cracked pipe, aging cast iron, improperly installed and graded ABS, and poorly sealed joints. Essentially, our drainage system was a "Frankenstein" assembly of old and new plumbing that had been pieced together over many decades. While it was still technically functioning, it was clear that we were eventually going to have a much more serious--and potentially much more expensive--problem. The team also brought in a camera to inspect portions of the system, and during that process they discovered a deceased rat inside one of the pipes. Not exactly what you hope to find under your house, but it was another indication of just how much had accumulated and gone wrong with the old system over the years. We ultimately decided to have A-Team install a bullhorn cleanout along the side of the house, which required jackhammering through the concrete. This gives us much better access to the drainage system for future maintenance. Robert, the owner, then came out personally to evaluate the remainder of the system and provide an estimate. Although the larger project was certainly not inexpensive, Robert's proposal made sense: replace the old, mismatched plumbing with a completely new, uniform, properly installed drainage system serving both bathrooms, the kitchen, and the laundry area. We decided it made more sense to address the underlying problems now rather than wait for a major failure later. The work took about five days overall, with roughly three days devoted to re-piping everything under the house. The A-Team crew was extremely professional, courteous, and thoughtful about working in and around our home. They clearly took care with the work and with our property. Robert also offered, at no additional charge, to install a recessed box in the laundry area that would better contain the hot and cold water connections for the washing machine. We ultimately declined because doing so would have required moving the machines and cutting into the wall--and, frankly, we already had enough going on with the plumbing project! We're very happy with the finished result. We now have a completely new and properly installed drainage system rather than continuing to rely on a collection of aging and poorly configured pipes. The project also includes a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and a two-year clog-free warranty, which gives us considerable peace of mind. What began as a $49 attempt to clear a clogged bathtub turned into a much larger plumbing project, but we're ultimately glad we called A-Team. I reached out to a bunch of companies and went with the cheapest (not Cali Rooter and Plumbing) since I figured they'd all be doing the same thing and I didn't expect them to find anything. Well, to my unpleasant surprise, they told me that I needed a new sewer pipe from my property to the street. Despite the fact that the entire plumbing system had been overhauled five years earlier as part of an extensive renovation and all the new plumbing was okay, they had connected everything to the original pipe from the 1940's. They showed me some blockage that was already happening and said that if I didn't replace the pipe I could have an issue with water backing up into the house, causing damage. Given that this was no longer just a sewer scope, I did some more research and based on reviews, asked Cali Rooter for a second opinion. They came out first thing the following morning (like 10 hours later) and told me that I not only needed to repair the sewer pipe, but I also had to get a liner. They suggested that the other company was either negligent, or knew that I needed the liner and was going to wait until the trench was dug already and I was forced to say yes to the upsell. Cali Rooter said that they could come as soon as the rain stopped, about 4 days later, to do the entire repair. Communication was great throughout, they showed up around 9 am and were done by around 3 pm and it looks like they were never there (my biggest concern was the landscaping). They also serviced the two water heaters on my property as a courtesy. All around great service - great communication, fast responses and service. So far so good with the new pipe, although I guess if they did things right, I won't know until after things don't go wrong for decades.
