    Old Fashion with Espresso
    Mr. Juan D.

A A few of my fellow co-workers and I were looking for a place to get a drink when we noticed that the Sheraton had a bar. The exact name of the drink slipped my mind, but I got an Old Fashion with an espresso shot. It was passable; I will stick to the classic Old Fashion the next time. The grilled brussels sprouts and parmesan cheese fries that we had were delicious. The service was accommodating and top-notch. I intend to return and introduce my friends to their eatery.

    Wings

This is just a review for a specific item, the wings. I ordered pretty late at night (and to my room) and it was a convention weekend so it came quite late because the kitchen was busy, about an hour after I ordered. These are the smallest wings I've ever had. Literally smaller than the ranch dressing container! And there were less than 10 total for almost $20. And many of them felt like.. I was eating plastic? There was a weird part of them that felt and tasted very odd. The sweet chili sauce on them made it better. Probably would not order again.

    White Truffle Mac and Cheese

I was surprised when the Mac and cheese was served with a spoon on the side. Once I ate the crusty outer part I found the cheese sauce which was of soup like consistency. It was ok but probably not the best choice for happy hour.

    Bailey's and coffee!

Located in the Sheraton Grand Hotel, this bar simply "fit the bill" for what I needed. In other words, we checked into the hotel on a late Friday night. As my bookmarks for places to eat around Sactown were dwindling, not to mention being exhausted from a busy work week; We just needed something in our stomach and a "much much much much needed" drink! Ya feel me? Walking into the main entrance of the Sheraton, this bar is basically their primary lounge area. And their choice for their guests to hang out. So, I checked with the bartender (possibly manager), Kristina, and even though it was close to 10pm, she was still glad to take our food order. I totally dig this hang-out, and here's why: ~ Cheddar Burger ($15): Served medium, this was one savory burger! It was wholesome and big filling. It hit the spot, so you can't go wrong ordering this plate! ~ Shrimp Cakes ($13.50): Decent tasting, yet nothing fancy. I'd pass on these. They were decent in taste, but I should've known better. ~ Risotto and scallops: Oh hell yeah! Talk about makin' me feel like I'm 'somebody! This was it! The scallops were seared just right, and had blended well with the risotto. I mean, these three scallops made up for the three OK tasting, shrimp cakes. ~ Steak Quesadilla: Or, aka imo, it's a "steak pop-tart"! Yep, that's how I can best describe it! The slices were pretty good in flavor, only it seemed to have been missing the cheesiness fun! Don't get me wrong, there was cheese. But after eating piece after piece, this quesadilla just held all the cheese inside like a Korean drama actress holding in her tears. ~ Bailey's and coffee: Yep, it's my "pick me up" drink! I'm just glad they still served coffee at night! ~ Another drink notables: ~ Nolett gin martini: Boy'oh'boy, this was a drink worth watching them make. Well not really, but still fancy lookin' in general. And the taste went down smoothly. Check out my pic, you'll want one! Screw it, get one! Highly recommended! Your dining experience: ~ The bar area itself is typical, with a couple of flatscreen monitors. The outer tables were tall with high comfortable chairs. Nice and high, nice and clean. They also have plush couches away from the bar if you need more privacy. In short, the Public Market Bar is a great place to gather with friends or network with others over lunch and drinks.

Off-The-Hook Elegant Location For Fun in a "Delicious" Hotel Bar SITREP Dam straight. And if you missed it, I DID say "Hotel Bar", because that's where you will find the Public Market Bar - with easy access from either the K Street Mall side or J Street, you'll find it inside the Sheraton Grande Hotel close on J Street @ 13th. SETUP I've kanoodled some very special times here - both with Yelp and on my own - and I have nothing but high praise for the space, the bar & table arrangements, the quickness and friendliness of the staff, and their awesome specials or their awesome treatment of special people whose events we are celebrating. Of late, this is a nice chill spot where our Sacramento Yelp Community Manager (CM) Alex L. likes to host some hap'nin CMYEs where we can discuss the future of Yelp in Sacramento. But Public Market Bar has had quite an extensive history with us Yelpers. YELPING GOODNESS My entre here first started with the Yelp "OSCAR NIGHT" Elite Event back in February 2011 - this was in fact our dear Community Manager ALEX L.'s very first event here in Sacramento - and it was truly oustanding. And I have nothing but high praise for my friend (and Bar & Event Manager) Katerynn Marie, and how she & her staff handled this event. Flash forward to last night's "Bon Voyage Party" for our Yelp-buddy Paul J. who is shipping off to Afghanistan for a special assignment, and this same team of Sheraton peeps provided more excellent service and complimentary munchies to our group of 40+ peeps (who pretty much took over the bar, even though there were other hotel patrons also be well-serviced). THE DRINKS You couldn't ask for a better selection of beers & brews. And the mixed drinks were are delicious as well. THE FOOD Deep-Fried Calamari, Special Loaded-up Nachos, Veggie trays, etc. all "YUM" from their in-house kitchen. CHILL TIME This has also proven to be a great meet-up place with friends if we want to chill before a game event, getting ready to take in an IMAX Feature Film at the Esquire just around the corner, and even just to catch up on some WiFi'ing while waiting for the rain to let out. THE LOWDOWN The Public Market Bar is a very intimate and cozy stop, even if it is inside one of Sacramento's largest, most elegant hotel & active convention stops.

The Napa burger was very nice.
    Heidi P.

The Napa burger was nice. The sweet jam with the blue cheese was a nice combination. Maybe add an egg to it?!?! The 805 Firestone was great. For a Lighter IPA-not citrusy at all. Smooth and light.

This is my first classic martini (unlike lychee martinis I've had before at other places). My server asked how I like it, with olive juice or with lemon twist or another option I don't remember. To be honest I don't know how I like it because it's is my first classic martini. So I was honest with him. I said I'll do whatever you recommend because I wanted to try a classic martini cuz I've been watching Gossip Girl. I felt silly admitting I wanted a martini because of a tv show. But my server actually did his research and found that Blair (a main character in the show) likes her martini with a lemon twist. And that is the martini I got. He brought frozen glass and poured the drink on the spot. It was such a vibe and a great drink. For food I got the grilled prawns. This dish is delicious and goes so well with my martini! For my second drink I got the shiso fresh. I was debating between two drinks and asked my server for suggestions. He is absolutely right with this recommendation. Shiso fresh is refreshing and sweet but not too sweet. I loved it. Service is wonder and drinks are tasty. I can't wait to come back!

The interior is dark and light simultaneously, with its rich textiles and colors, high ceilings and the large south-facing window on the long exterior wall. Really nicely done and quite inviting. Travis mixed up what could very well have been the best Old Fashioned we've ever had. It's not my preferred cocktail, but if more were like this one, that may be another story. I opted for the Kumquat Kiss, which was delicious and different. Besides that Old Fashioned, the Hash Brown Lyonnaise really stole the show. Pillow-light hash brown sticks (how did they do that?!) with a scrumptious onion dip with crispy shallots and finely chopped chives. This is one of my top happy hour dishes of the year. Just wow! Try it yourself and tell me you don't agree. The Grilled Prawns missed the mark for me a bit, although the husband liked them. Tasty, but just not as much of a star as the other dish. Only suggestion is to have a happy hour menu for bites as well as beverages, as is found on the website. This would help avoid the need for staff to present a dinner menu (which admittedly, I was confused by) and acknowledge that the first course options are all available but at no happy hour discount (which felt a bit awkward for all involved). Overall, a delightful discovery!

This spot is going to become THE place to be on K street once people know about it…read more I was in the area and happened to remember they recently opened this brand new spot so I decided to check it out. I remember seeing it mentioned on the news too. I got there when it opened at 7pm so it was pretty quiet, but I got a good feel and vibe from the place. The manager also interacted with me and told me that just last night, the place had some popular DJ and packed the place in. He showed me a video of what the scene looked like and all I can say is wow (in a good way). The best way I think I could describe this spot would be a more intimate Las Vegas night club on the strip while not compromising the quality of cocktails and providing a multi-sensory experience of lights, sounds and energy. I left when things started to get busy but I am confident in saying that you won't be disappointed and feel like you got your money's worth for sure.... especially when they will be having events there. If you get there shortly after it opens, I think you can count on more of a lounge sort of vibe. When it starts getting later or there's a DJ spinning (especially a well known one), then the place turns into an upscale nightclub. Circling back to my experience, I tried their "Plot Twist" cocktail which consists of things like bourbon, lemon, honey, fig jam and walnut and it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. Nicely balanced, smooth, inviting and little to no bite. Just a damn good cocktail that I really enjoyed. There were three bartenders there which were Karla (who made my drink), Ian (who made my second drink that I can't remember what the name was), and Danny. They were all really nice, fun and outgoing bartenders that made me feel welcomed while also maintaining a fun demeanor. I asked if it was ok with them to take their pic since some people don't like that and they were cool with it. The bar seats being a little small were surprisingly comfy and tested out the lounge seating which is also comfy and provides perfect views of everything going on (in case you ever want to reserve a spot). There is no bad seat in the house, the music system is very clear with high end audio, and overall you can tell that a lot of thought and effort was put into this place by people who know what they are doing. A couple of other things to note is that the menu they have on their counter does not display all of the cocktails. There are more on their website which you can look up by going onto their website. When they are in their busy hours, you can reserve spots and get bottle and I think that if you know it's going to be a busy night, it will be worth it to do with a group. There will probably be a door charge later in the night so be prepared for that, however I did see on their website that they do have a guestlist so take advantage of that! They do have a dress code so when in doubt, just dress to impress and you should have no trouble getting in. The average cocktail is around $15 and think it's reasonable for the kind of cocktail you will be able to get. Archive is open on certain days so be sure to double check that they are open before going. Ultimately, if you haven't been yet, this is one place you should definitely check out at least once. If you're more into the lounge vibe, get there early. If you're more into the clubbing vibe, get there a little later or check out their events for the ultimate experience. I will definitely be back and this place is raising the bar on K Street and whole area. Oh yeah, and lastly, they do accept tap to pay including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay as well as credit/debit cards and cash. Thanks for the great time guys!
