She reached out to me as any manager should do, and welcomed me ! She was very helpful and made my moving experience on the first day very pleasant. I did pretty much everything online. An abysmal experience at 19121 Parthenia location. First, the online system allowed me to reserve a 10x35' unit for $235/mo until 11/17. Great, but then I get a call saying they can only hold 7 days. Fine. I confirm and make an appt for yesterday 11am to come in an secure the unit. Guess what happened when I got there yesterday?? This team rented out my reserved unit sometime after I confirmed & set an appt with property manager! No concessions for a similar size unit and handled with utter lack of professionalism by Elizabeth. Went to 8200 Balboa and what a 180 degree turn to get a comparable size unit even for $100/mo more, because the team was super top notch (friendly, professional, generous with their time to decide between 2 units)... unlike Parthenia. Going cheaper isn't always the right decision. You pay for what you get! The 8200 Balboa PS team is worth the extra money! read more

Had a reservation today was called several times after for the memorial day special they are running. Had 2 units reserved and they didn't hold them and won't hold them until next week even though I have made a reservation online. After further review come to find this location does not individual door alarms which is so important if you are not there everyday. If someone breaks in and puts another lock on the manager will never know until you bring it to their attention. Insurance only covers what you can provide proof of purchase etc etc. The place has the cheapest priced units for a reason, it's easy to break in! I had the worst experience today with Helena. Kia was nice at 1st but shortly after our conversation she started being like Helena. I will pay more to deal with people with better attitudes. It's storage people we have choices, just be careful if storing here. I wouldnt store here even if they paid me. Public storage really needs to change their advertisements. I rented a storage unit that was supposed to be approximately 10 x 15. Correct me if I am wrong, but if someone tells you a storage is approximately close to the measurements advertised, you would assume the unit would be off by a couple of inches... I rented a storage unit from this location and I asked the storage agent if the unit would be a little off or completely off. He kindly told me the unit MAY BE off a little. Going based off his confidence I did not worry to much. A couple of hours later when I was ready to put my items into the unit, my boyfriend and I realize the unit is not true to its size. Curious to see how off the unit was, we bought a measuring tape to find out. The unit is off by over 16 inches (and that is just the length). Crazy huh... Trying my best to keep my cool, I just told myself I would come back the next day and get a larger unit. I come back the next day to find out they do not have any larger units. I calmly asked if I could vacate, and the young man that helped me the day before proceeded to do so. Out of the blue the manager (Laura) adds in her two cents and reminds me I will not get a refund. In my head I am thinking "okay, I am not making a big deal so what's it to you". Trying my best not to give my sassy attitude (even though my face is totally giving it away), I respond and let her know that is fine. She stills continues to try to piss me off by reminding me my unit was "approximately" 10 x 15. In my head again... thinking "girl don't try me". I was trying to hard not to go off on her because it really seemed like she wanted me too. I told her it wasn't a big deal since I only paid $36 to move in. Then I kindly reminded her if I had an issue with anyone, would be Public Storage as a company, and not her personally. I guess I blew her away because she had nothing to say after. I left calmly and called the Public Storage customer service line. According to the representative on the line Public Storage does not offer refunds. When I asked even when the unit is completely off by what is advertised, she got really quiet and told me a district manager will be able to assist me further. I was told he would return my call within 2 business days and it has been over 4... We will see if they will return my $36. read more

This was my first time using a storage unit. I qualified for the $1 dollar rent for a month. I had many problems with public storage. First the unit I needed was not available even though they had a month in advance to prepare it. I was then transferred to another public storage. They continued to call me telling me I owed more than I did, and on several occasions had to re explain that I qualified for the special. I then called and left a voicemail asking what I needed to do to close the account, they did not return my call until after my deadline had passed and charged me $100 for leaving my lock there, and stated they had no record of me calling or leaving a voicemail message. They have terrible customer service, and I won't be going back. read more

Terrible place. Multiple robberies. The staff is responsible and friendly but they are unable to control continuous theft. I had only rented the unit for a couple months and I was notified that the entire building had been robbed. It was a terrible inconvenience. Renters had to file police reports and claims I'm assuming if they had the insurance. I lost a brand-new dolly and a vacuum cleaner. Some of my boxes were opened. My neighbor's unit was nearly emptied with all of his army equipment. Please be cautious and think twice or more before renting space here. Potentially dangerous if your caught when the robbers decide to attack again. read more

This place is great! Got an incredible deal on a large unit for only 1$ for the first month. I had to buy a lock and there was an initial service fee for around 25 bucks, but the total cost for the first month was only about 40 bucks. Awesome deal compared to most other places! read more

We rented 3 storage units for 6 years at this facility. We experienced two break-ins with numerous items stolen and never recovered. We also had to relocate one of our units due to Formaldehyde being spilled in a unit above us. Due to the many unfortunate issues we experience and lack of and occasional rude response from their onsite and district manager, a senior executive offered to reduce our rates indefinitely... six months later, our rates went back up again and higher than the new client rate. Several calls and letters later, I received a call from that senior executive who promised to take care the issue. For the next two years, our rate continue to increase, again above the going street rate. Last month I spoke with the onsite manager and fully explained our concern and dismay that a long term client would be consistently charge more than a new client and requested that he speak with his superiors about it. A few days later, he called me with their response. "They cannot reduce our rates, unless we relocate our units to other units and create a new account". We have since donated 80% of all items in storage and relocated the rest to our office. Considering that during our tenure, our fees added up to almost $100k, their lack of competence and unethical business policies leave nothing to be desire. Further there seems to be a systemic lack of professionalism which is carried from management to staff and therefore I AND MY FIRM WILL NEVER BE DOING BUSINESS WITH PUBLIC STORAGE AGAIN. read more

Beware. I gave them my ID to borrow a push cart. When I went to get it back and return the key for it, an asian man gave me a very hard time. He said "this picture does not look like you." He said that three times. I said, what do you mean? He said "Well you have a hell of a tan!" and then finally handed it over to her. I work outdoors as I own my own business. Very RUDE people work there. Since when does having a tan, mean I don't look like my picture on my ID? I have a tan on my ID too. I don't see how that would change my features! What a rude individual! Even the lady who gave me the cart (Helena) originally laughed at me because of the words I chose to say to borrow the cart. Then never even defended me when I was trying to get my license back even though she was the person who took my ID and gave me the key for the push cart in the first place and she was standing right there. After everything that was said, she turned from what she was doing to the asian guy (who was also on the phone at the time, rude) to say - What happened? I walked away. Thank god, we got all our stuff out and we are not continuing here. INCOMPETENT STAFF to say the least. We had several problems with them over the time we had our belongings here. Don't go here!!!!!! I had previously given a 5 start rating due the manger pestering me to give her a review. After a few months of being at this location my opinion has surly changed. The units are not true to size, poorly lit and most days filthy but that's not why I'm commenting today. I was advised when I got this unit if I needed a larger or smaller one then I could do so and to advise them so they could assist me on finding me a new one. When I went to the office to ask they were 1. Not helpful 2. Rude and 3. Told me I'd be charged fees even though I gave notice. I have now found a new unit at the one on Balboa which yes I pay a little more but it's worth it not to have to deal with the rude female manager at this location. I have been trying to move my belongings out of this unit for three weeks now, being a working mother I can only do this on the weekends. Their elevators have been out of order for THREE weekends in a row! Every time I come and advise them of this they give me attitude and say they don't know when they will be working it could be a few hours or a few weeks. I told the manager that is fine but if I can't get my belongings out of this unit then I shouldn't be charged for their inconvenience. She rudely told me that yes I will because the stairwell is working. I have a 10x10 unit with washers, dressers and 100s of boxes that I will not be taking down one by one. When I rented this unit it was because I had a working elevator that was available for use. I asked her and the other female employee there if they will be helping me move my furniture down the stairs she all of a sudden had no response. I guess she doesn't want to be inconvenienced just like I have had to been for the three weekends now. This manager should be fired. She is rude, nasty and offers no apology for her behavior. Public storage's website says "reserve this now" with no obligation. Okay, cool. On Monday I reserved a space to begin on Friday. I proceeded to get phone calls every day after that until I got fed up today (Thursday) and cancelled my reservation. I don't answer calls from numbers I'm not familiar with, so here's what happened: Call #1: Tuesday. No message left. Call #2: Wednesday. Message states, "You reserved a space for Friday. We're expecting you around 11 am." *Okay, a little pushy, since a time wasn't specified on my reservation but okay...* Call #3: Thursday. Message states, "You have a reservation. We need to know what time you're coming." Um... I thought 11 am? But why do they need to know anyways? If the office is staffed between two given times and the instructions on the site say to come in at least a half hour before closing to get the paperwork sorted, why do I need to specify a time? Furthermore, who's expecting me at 11, then? And why didn't they bother to ask if 11 was okay to begin with? Basically, don't store here. Given the hassle I got before I even gave them my money, I decided I'd rather truck it out to Thousand Oaks for my stuff where the people are much more amicable. read more

It doesn't get any better than this, Mayra went above & beyond with awesome customer service, from the reservation to showing me what my unit would look like & making sure I had all that I needed to store my things securely. Give her a raise & promotion ;). Julia was friendly as well & greeted me with a smile. The storage units are also very clean as well & the floors, they were freshly mopped & I feel confident & satisfied knowing that I made the right choice choosing this place. First of all, wow to previous reviews. People can really be inaccurate and mean. I went online and saw prices for the different units offered and knew exactly what I wanted to get. After arriving at my same day appointment, I met William who courteously helped my girlfriend and I fill out the paperwork to rent the unit. The paperwork took the time that it normally takes to fill out. It helped that I had done some of the pre-paperwork online. The staff was kind and professional from my experience and I was able to see the unit before officially renting it. William explained all of the paperwork properly and clearly and made the paperwork go as fast as was possible. Big companies require a fair amount of paperwork (to be expected), and it's the same for any PS that you go to (company policy). William was empathetic and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. For the most part, I think that the previous bad reviews must have been written by afflicted individuals as their reviews are more reflective of their personality than of this Public Storage and their wonderful staff. I think that anyone who tries to do anything in a rush will think everyone is in their way and perhaps blame others for their lack of self discipline and false perceptions. Worst Service at the actual facility. Made reservation through Customer Service. They told me that someone would call me and go over unit and info with me. Got the call for my reservation etc, show up with moving truck filled go over unit and Julia tells me I need a lock from there since I do t have one. Keep in mind I was not told to bring my own lock. What a rip off. Julia was rude and tried to talk to her in regards to going and getting a lock she said no. Needed to have lock with me as she would not let my truck in. (Hired people for my move keep in mind). She was just rude and not understanding in my situation. Told her I was unhappy and had to buy a lock that is worth $2.00 from her for $21.00. RIP OFF. Couldn't move units last minute as I had a full Uhaul with me and movers. Never again would I rent from them and I HIGHLY don't recommend them !!!! If I can do no stars I would.
