So on Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to rent a storage space due to us not having enough space now that we are moving into a 1 bedroom apartment together. We first went to the Public Storage just down the street, and we were not very impressed. The units were a little dumpy, and rundown. Not at all what we wanted. And Vicky a worker who was helping out at that site mentioned that they had one unit available at her normal site just down the street. We went to go check it out, and this site was 100% better. It had such a good vibe. The entire complex was so clean, and the unit was perfect. We decided to rent it on the spot. We were even given a great price. We also witnessed a current renter having a complete tantrum. She was so rude, obnoxious, and yelling profanities and insults. She made a huge scene, which I thought was embarrassing. The manager kept her cool, and handled the situation very professionally. I was impressed. Not everyone can handle a situation that calmly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking. The staff is very friendly, and respectful. The site is also very clean and secure. I'm very happy with our decision. read more

I reserved a unit on line for a May 6 move in. Carlos called me and demanded that I tell him precisely what time on May 6 we would be moving into the unit. I told him I couldn't tell him a precise time yet because we were trying to get movers arranged and that would take a day or two. He asked if he should "unconfirm" the unit. I told him again that we would give him a precise move in time as soon as we got all the feedback we needed from the movers. He started to tell me his problems. They rent month to month. They need a precise time. I told him again that I would give him a precise time when I had it. I was waiting for feedback from the movers. He started to tell me again why he needed a precise time five days in the future and why apparently my telling him that time later in the day was a problem. I told him I didn't want to do business with him anymore. Maybe ten minuted later a loud voiced shrill woman called me to ask me to confirm the arrival time. I told her that I had spoken to Carlos the evident jackass and told him three times why I couldn't give them a time now. Loud voiced shrill lady interrupted me. So I hung up. I was renting a storage unit here on the first floor. After a few months I came to the unit and couldn't get in because the lock was tampered with and the key wouldn't even go into the lock. There were no cameras, so no one knew why or what happened. We had to pay out of pocket for someone to come and break the lock. We then bought a new lock, and after a few months when we wanted to move out the same thing happened again. At least this time they put us in contact with another guy who helped get the lock off cheaply and gave us a new lock for free. However, what's the point of these units if there are no cameras and no security? When we got the unit no one said that they didn't have a camera. If I knew, I would have paid more for a unit with a camera. read more

1st time getting a storage, and i got it last minute! LiteAnd so far awesome experience. Rubia helped me, very informative. I liked the location. Easy access, from what i saw very clean. That was my fear going to a dirty place full of roaches or rats. Nasty! But nope this place gave me a real good impression. Definitely recommending it to family and friends. I know someone mentioned having to input your code every time i actual don't mind the security because every tenant gets their own code so if something goes wrong, like a break in at least they know who was within the area. I received a call from a Public Storage manager informing that they came across my unit with the lock off. The manager called me back several minutes later stating to disregard the message; it was for a different unit. I went out to inspect the unit that night and much of my property had been taken and damaged. The insurance company denied the claim in 4 hours, after the claim was submitted because the lock was still on the door. The door visibly shows damage and the drywall inside of the unit have been tampered. This type of burglary/theft has happened to several tenants dealing with PS. Staff said they could not review videos because they delete content every 7 days. They had every excuse possible. I suspect that this was a inside job. read more

I have been renting from this location for over 5years now and I'm so glad I chose public storage especially the Balboa location. First the location is always clean and I love that they don't close till 9pm everyday (Since I work that makes it so convenient to come after work). Other public storage locations close at 6pm and that makes it impossible to get into if you work! I also love that my storage is so easy to get to. I chose a semi drive up and love it when I need to get in and out in a hurry. Second the customer service can't be beat! Rubia is an employee I have gotten to know very well. She always has a great attitude and always willing to help if you have a question or run into any problem. I also enjoy my friendly reminder calls from Julia, you can tell she is smiling on the other line which is nice. It's always a plus dealing with people that have such nice attitudes and professionalism. Plus they know be by name which makes it even more personable. Thanks to the staff such as these girls it's always a pleasure to see them and reassuring you chose a great storage facility. Keep up the sweetness girls! I rented a space for several months and each time I went to the office to request help, because the elevator wasn't working or my combination or password was not working, I was told that they could not help me all they were there to do was sell spaces. Having my own business, I have never dealt with such rude inconsiderate, And uncaring people. Public storage needs to re-train their office employees! read more

After an abysmal experience at 19121 Parthenia location (rented out my reserved unit sometime after I confirmed & set an appt with property manager! No concessions for a similar size unit and handled with utter lack of professionalism.), what a 180 degree turn to get a comparable size unit at 8200 Balboa. This location is closer to our office, but $100/mo more, so bosses wanted cheaper location on Parthenia. You pay for what you get! The 8200 Balboa PS team is worth the extra money! read more
